Candidate Central
A Word From Ron Paul
Ron Paul 03.04.08, 3:20 PM ETTrailwatch reached out to each of the remaining presidential campaigns and offered them an unedited forum in which they could address voters. As he was when we requested information for our Candidate Screener, Ron Paul was the first candidate to respond to our offer. We asked each campaign to submit 500 to 1,000 words on the issues they believe are the most important ones facing the nation at this moment in time. Here is what Ron Paul had to say.

The World Has Plenty of Oil

DOW JONES REPRINTS

Many energy analysts view the ongoing waltz of crude prices with the mystical $100 mark — notwithstanding the dollar’s anemia — as another sign of the beginning of the end for the oil era. “[A]t the furthest out, it will be a crisis in 2008 to 2012,” declares Matthew Simmons, the most vocal voice among the “neo-peak-oil” club. Tempering this pessimism only slightly is the viewpoint gaining ground among many industry leaders, who argue that daily production by 2030 of 100 million barrels will be difficult.

American Renaissance Conference Why, Just Maybe, We Should Think More

by Fred Reed

This week, disordered thoughts. I’m not sure what other kind might be applicable in today’s world.

I just got back from Washington, where I addressed the American Renaissance conference. I hate airplanes. They have the charm of Greyhound buses without the comfort.

I Like Ron Paul And He Can Win By Alan Stang
3-2-8

In 1952, the country was on fire (as usual). The Democrats had ruled for twenty years. Swindler, mass murderer and traitor Franklin Roosevelt was safely dead. Harry Truman, who to everyone’s amazement had beaten Republican globalist Thomas Dewey in 1948, was now completing his term. And the truth about Communist infiltration and influence under the Democrats was oozing out.

If the magnitude of that infiltration became generally known, the conspiracy for world government could have suffered a devastating defeat. The Communists had literally been directing federal policy. Because of that policy, Patton’s advance had been stopped, so Stalin could seize all of Central Europe. Soviet agent Alger Hiss, a top official of the Department of State, ran the San Francisco meeting that founded the Communist United Nations. And on and on!

Media´s Deafening Silence and Ron Paul´s Candidacy

For all the reporting they´ve done on him, you´d think Ron Paul didn´t exist. He´s one of three candidates left in a Republican field that started with eleven, and yet you´d never know he was one of the last three survivors. If he was on American idol he´d be making headlines. Most everyone in America would know his name. People would be spending money on cell phone calls just to vote for him. Yet here he is running for the most important position in the world, one of three left who could possibly become the Republican presidential candidate, and so many still have no idea who Ron Paul is and what he stands for. So many people out there are just too lazy, just too dependent on the mainstream media to find out what their choices are. As a result, we all get the bottom of the barrel, the dregs of the political establishment, and so it is that corruption is so rampant in Washington DC.

Who will end the American Empire and its neocon crazies before they end the world?

Paul Craig Roberts
Online Journal
Tuesday, February 26, 2008

The hypocrisy of US government officials is boundless. On February 18, the US government inflamed Serbians by recognizing Muslim separatists in Kosovo, a historic province of Serbia, as an independent country. Two hundred thousand Serbs marched in protest and the US embassy in Belgrade was damaged. Is this surprising? No, not unless you are an official in the American Empire. The notorious Empire Neocon Counsel, Azlmay Khalilzad, Bush’s representative to the UN, declared, “I’m outraged by the mob attack.”

What’s an embassy building compared to a province of Serbia, a province that stirs nationalist sentiments associated with the Serbs’ long military struggles with the Turks? Had it not been for the Serbs, Europeans would probably be Turks.

To neocon Khalilzad a province of Serbia is nothing. It is merely real estate to be given away by US recognition bestowed on a breakaway movement led by what some consider to be a gang of Muslim drug runners.

Secretary of State Condi Rice also found the Serbian response to the US giving away part of their country to be “intolerable.”

Former Assistant Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke also sees no reason for the Serbs to be upset that America gave away part of their country. He explained away the Serbian protests by declaring, “The Russians are behind this.”

We can understand why US diplomacy is a failure when we see our diplomats explaining that, had it not been for the Russians stirring them up, Serbians wouldn’t have noticed the loss of a historic part of their country.

Perhaps Kosovo should have its independence. However, the US government could not have handled the issue in a more provocative way….

John T. Flynn and the Myth of FDR

From the introduction to The Roosevelt Myth, by John T. Flynn.

Albert Jay Nock, distinguished man of letters and philosophical anarchist, was an inspiration to thinkers as diverse as Murray Rothbard and Robert Nisbet, Frank Chodorov and Russell Kirk. A personal friend of the father of William F. Buckley, Jr., he was a kind of guru to the young Buckley as well. In April, 1945, Nock wrote a cheery letter to two of his friends, describing the death of Franklin Roosevelt as “the biggest public improvement that America has experienced since the passage of the Bill of Rights,” and suggesting a celebration luncheon at Luchow’s.[1]

The Essence of Liberty: Part 253 (1) The Court vs. FDR Uncle Sam wants YOU!

The Essence of Liberty: Part 253 (1)

Compiled by

Dr. Jimmy T. (Gunny) LaBaume

A Summary of Gutzman, Kevin R.C. The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to the Constitution

(The book is available from the Ludwig von Mises Institute at http://www.mises.org)

Chapter 9: The Court vs. FDR

Uncle Sam wants YOU!

When Lincoln enacted a military draft in 1863, Chief Justice Taney reasoned that the Constitution did not give Congress did not give Congress any such authority. Although it did give the federal government authority over states’ militias under certain circumstances, armies had been raised by requisitions on the states and that was the extent of Congressional power.

Defendants in the Selective Draft Law Cases (1918) argued similarly. They also referred to the 13 th Amendment which said that only convicts could be subjected to involuntary servitude.

Chief Justice White decided that, because foreign governments conscripted soldiers, this was a power that was obviously an attribute of national government—i.e. anything the Kaiser or the Commissars could do, the uS government could do too.

Bringing Back the Hat

Up until the 1950′s men were rarely seen out and about without a hat sitting upon their head. Since that time, the wearing of hats has seen a precipitous decline. No one is precisely sure why. Some say the downfall of hats occurred when JFK did not wear a hat to his inauguration, thus forever branding them as uncool.

Central Banking, the Depreciation of Self-Worth, and Decivilization

DIGG THIS

As J.G. Hülsmann stated in his seminal essay The Cultural and Spiritual Legacy of Fiat Inflation:”The government’s fiat makes inflation perennial, and as a result we observe the formation of inflation-specific institutions and habits. Thus fiat inflation leaves a characteristic cultural and spiritual stain on human society.” It is, therefore, crucial for people to awaken to the fact that the manipulation of money and credit, on the part of central bankers, is tantamount to manipulating the minds and hearts of human beings – a matter also covered in a jointly-written essay. Right behind owning one’s own body, the second most personal asset an individual owns is the fruit of one’s own labor – with such fruit typically taking the form of money; which is exchanged for food, clothing, transportation, shelter, etc. Accordingly, with the common yardstick here being money, a person’s self-worth, in part, can be measured by earnings power, accumulated savings, and personal net worth.

Monetary Policy and the State of the Economy

DIGG THIS

A Statement to the House Financial Services Committee, February 27, 2008

Mr. Chairman,

A topic that is on the lips of many people during the past few months, and one with which I have greatly concerned myself, is that of moral hazard. We hear cries from all corners, from politicians, journalists, economists, businessmen, and citizens, clamoring for the federal government to intervene in the economy in order to forestall a calamitous recession. During the boom, many of these same individuals called for no end to the Fed’s easy credit. Now that the consequences of that easy money policy are coming home to roost, no one wants to face those ill effects.

Why Most Voters Shouldn’t Vote
March 04, 2008
By Selwyn Duke

Often the most fanciful ideas become the least questioned assumptions. In this election season a few have made themselves apparent, such as the notion that “change” is good by definition and “experience” is definitely good. Yet an even better example is the oft-repeated platitude that greater voter participation yields a healthier republic.

A recent report on KREM.com caught my attention. That report concerns Dworshak Dam (Google Map Link) on the North Fork of the Clearwater River in Idaho, approximately 35 miles east of Lewiston, Idaho in what is considered central Idaho. The North Fork of the Clearwater River empties into the Clearwater River at Ahsahka (Ah-soc-a), just north of the town of Orofino. The Clearwater River empties into the Snake River at Lewiston, Idaho; the Snake River running, at that point, on the border between Idaho and Washington. The Snake River empties into the Columbia River at the Tri-Cities — the Pasco/Kennewick/Richland area of Washington. The Columbia River forms the border between Washington and Oregon and flows into the Pacific Ocean.

Driving to my office the other day on still another late February “winter survival day” in the midst of what has been a long, harsh winter I heard the news. The snow pack on North America was greater at any time than it had been since 1966. All the Arctic ice we had heard dire reports of its melting with New York City about to be subsequently flooded had refrozen – thicker than ever.

While the economy implodes, the President pledges $30 billion to Africa for its AIDS epidemic. The Blue Team’s frontrunner, Mr. Obama is lubricating through the Senate a “Global Poverty Relief” act that should gladden Communists and batter Americans to the tune of $70 billion/year for twelve years. Foreigners in America illegally send about $50 billion generated by our economy out of the nation each year. The GAO estimates that the actual national debt runs into the trillions of dollars; social security and Medicare are held up tenuously by income taxes that fall hardest on middle income Americans who are watching their costs rise, benefits fall and jobs leave for the East. The price of Medical insurance (not health care) skyrockets while covered benefits shrink, Big Pharma and the insurance industry swagger while ordinary people are crushed.

NO! Do Not Use The Word “public,” Use “government”

Government This, Government That

March 01, 2008Posted by Manuel Lora at March 1, 2008 11:32 AM
We should start referring to state owned and managed properties and functions by the word “government” and not “public” for strategic reasons. Instead of public parks we have government parks; instead of public schools we have government schools. There is something more nefarious and sinister about it. “Government Police” sounds a lot worse than “State Police” doesn’t it? Let’s apply it to government housing, government inspections, government licensing and every program and department out there such as the (government) lottery and (government) roads. If we had government restaurants, just imagine how awful they would be!
