The Essence of Liberty: Part 257 (1)
Compiled by Dr. Jimmy T. (Gunny) LaBaume A Summary of Gutzman, Kevin R.C. The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to the Constitution (The book is available from the Ludwig von Mises Institute at http://www.mises.org) Chapter 10: The Grand Wizard’s Imperial Court The Supreme Court became FDR’s rubber stamp. Previously, it had formerly prevented both the states and Congress from doing what only the states had the right to do. Now, it allowed both the states and Congress to do what only the states had the right to do. In National Labor Relations Board v. Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation (1937), Jones and Laughlin had fired those who attempted to unionize. They claimed the National Labor Relations Act was unconstitutional and the lower courts agreed. But the Supreme Court backtracked from its own precedents and ruled that Congress could regulate the economy in way previously thought impossible. |
Rethinking Churchill
Rethinking Churchill
by Ralph Raico
Churchill as Icon
When, in a very few years, the pundits start to pontificate on the great question: “Who was the Man of the Century?” there is little doubt that they will reach virtually instant consensus. Inevitably, the answer will be: Winston Churchill. Indeed, Professor Harry Jaffa has already informed us that Churchill was not only the Man of the Twentieth Century, but the Man of Many Centuries.

A Big Little ‘Border War’
By Georgie Anne Geyer
There loomed another of those tiresome little “border wars” in Latin America. Just another example of Latinos foolishly fighting one another over the cocaine and kidnappings that are sapping a rich continent’s potential. Obviously, it’s not something we need pay a whole lot of attention.

Series of blunders turned the plastic bag into global villain
Scientists and environmentalists have attacked a global campaign to ban plastic bags which they say is based on flawed science and exaggerated claims.
The widely stated accusation that the bags kill 100,000 animals and a million seabirds every year are false, experts have told The Times. They pose only a minimal threat to most marine species, including seals, whales, dolphins and seabirds.

Iraqi citizens kill American soldiers weekly. GIs kill Iraqi citizens daily. Experts say a million Iraqi men, women and children suffered death at the hands of Americans and Islamic fighters. Two million Iraqi refugees languish in Turkey, Iran and Syria. Death, disease and misery haunt Iraq 24/7. As the Iraq War continues, death reaps its grim numbers on both sides. An entire civilization staggers under America’s war machine.

“The truths we accept are so multiple that honesty becomes little more than a strategy by which you manage your tendencies toward duplicity.” –Ann Douglas
Even the erstwhile great New York Times is getting hip to the potential problems we have faced, do face, and will eventually have to deal with regarding Communist China.

[Note: In my last article, I indicated that the power elite at the most recent Bilderberg meeting may have “directed a pullback” (at least temporarily) of an attack on Iran,” given Russia’s and China’s objections. It would be much easier to attack Iran’s oil ally, Venezuela, with its troublesome leader Hugo Chavez. But the U.S., couldn’t just attack Venezuela without an incident. What if U.S. ally Colombia just happened to have an incursion into Venezuela, and Venezuela responded with military action? The U.S. would then militarily have to come to the aid of Colombia and oust Chavez, wouldn’t it? The question is whether anyone would be gullible enough to believe such a scenario would happen just by accident!]

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher is a war monger. In his own words he supports Bush’s immoral, unconstitutional invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan based on nothing but lies. Rohrabacher doesn’t have a problem with “totalization” agreements, but he should. Rohrabacher has also expressed admiration for Condoleezza Rice, another servant of the global masters and advocate of war and killing instead of peace. Having said that, as a member of Congress, it is Rohrabacher’s job to investigate corruption and cover ups involving federal agencies – including the president. On February 26, 2008, to his credit, Rohrabacher gave an important speech that has been ignored by the media. It is very long, but I urge you to book mark it and read it soon.
