NY healthcare workers rebel against mandatory forced vaccinations
About 200 healthcare workers rallied on the steps of the state Capitol in Albany, N.Y., while hundreds more demonstrated at similar events throughout the state, demanding “freedom of choice in vaccination and health care,” and protesting new regulations by the Dept. of Health that mandate all healthcare workers with patient contact receive CDC “recommended” seasonal and swine-flu vaccination or lose their jobs. Protesters at the Capitol carried hand-made signs proclaiming: “We’re not lab rats,” and “No flu shots…….

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not a peacenik, nor opposed to military action whenever it is Biblically justified. But I have to tell you, I have never been a supporter of the war to “spread democracy.” I believe that because of the emotion associated with the attacks of 911, we entered into a “war” without a clearly identified opponent, with a foggy vision of what it would look like, and without a clear understanding of the mission……..

When is a holocaust not THE Holocaust? The word holocaust was barely out of Rep. Alan Grayson’s mouth Wednesday afternoon when conservatives – and a few liberals – began crying foul. Grayson was less than 24 hours removed from his caustic Republicans want you to “die quickly,” speech, and now he was making holocaust references on the House floor. “I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven’t voted sooner to end this holocaust in America,” he said Wednesday. It touched a nerve, and made some in his own party uncomfortable. “I wouldn’t have done it,” said Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen, who is Jewish. Now Republicans want Grayson – Bronx raised and Jewish himself — to apologize for the apology and for inappropriately invoking the word. “Congressman Grayson should apologize to the Jewish community and the families of those whose loved ones were brutally executed,” fumed Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, a Jewish Republican. But is there a difference between talking about the Holocaust and talking about a generic, lower-case “holocaust?”

The grand old man of letters Gore Vidal claims America is ‘rotting away’ — and don’t expect Barack Obama to save it

A conversation with Gore Vidal unfolds at his pace. He answers questions imperiously, occasionally playfully, with a piercing, lethal dryness. He is 83 and in a wheelchair (a result of hypothermia suffered in the war, his left knee is made of titanium). But he can walk (“Of course I can”) and after a recent performance of Mother Courage at London’s National Theatre he stood to deliver an anti-war speech to the audience.

How was his friend Fiona Shaw in the title role? “Very good.” Where did they meet? Silence. The US? “Well, it wasn’t Russia.” What’s he writing at the moment? “It’s a little boring to talk about. Most writers seem to do little else but talk about themselves and their work, in majestic terms.” He means self-glorifying? “You’ve stumbled on the phrase,” he says, regally enough. “Continue to use it.”

The blog-o-sphere and the media (in their own little world) was all-a-buzz the other day when a poll on Facebook was discovered that asked if President Obama should be assassinated. Before it was removed, 700 people voted.

Had any of the reporters or bloggers actually used the search function on Facebook, they would have found several groups on the social networking site dedicated to killing, or wanting the death of, a political leader, particularly the death of one George W. Bush.

This group professes that We all Want To Kill George Bush It has 427 members and has been on Facebook since 2007.
