The Founders Great Mistake By Garrett Epps

Excerpts Below

The modern presidency is primarily the intellectual handiwork not of the Framers but of one FramerAlexander Hamilton. Hamiltons idea of the presidency can be found in a remarkable speech he gave to the convention, on June 18, 1787. In it, Hamilton argued that the president should serve for life, name Cabinet members without Senate approval, have an absolute veto on legislation, and have the direction of war once authorized or begun. The president would be a monarch, Hamilton admitted, but an elective monarch.

Hamiltons plan was so far from the mainstream of thought at the convention that none of its provisions was ever seriously discussed. Nonetheless, Hamilton was and remains the chief theorist of the presidency, first in writing his essays for The Federalist and then in serving as George Washingtons secretary of the Treasury. In this latter role, acting as Washingtons de facto prime minister, Hamilton took full advantage of the vagueness and brevity of Article II, laying the groundwork for an outsize presidency while the war-hero Washington was still in office.

In The Federalist, Hamilton had famously proclaimed that energy in the executive is a leading character in the definition of good government. Just how much energy he favored became clear during Americas first foreign crisis, the Neutrality Proclamation controversy of 1793. When Britain and France went to war, many Americans wanted to aid their Revolutionary ally. But Washington and the Federalists were rightly terrified of war with the powerful British Empire. Washington unilaterally proclaimed that the United States would be neutral.

I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be!

We all know things are bad — worse than bad — they’re crazy.

Here is video of Neil Cavuto interviewing Don Imus on the eve of his beginning a new show with the Fox Business Channel. Imus opens his new show on Monday, October 5.

Imus commented on Glenn Beck. He says he loves Glenn Beck, but joked “it doesn’t end well.”

On David Letterman, Imus said Letterman is a “mean-spirited jerk,” “a punk” who should not have treated what he did in such a “frivolous” manner.

Imus said he does not think President Obama “knows what he is doing,” but he does not dislike him. Imus said Obama reminds him of Jimmy Carter, although he said he’s nicer than Carter, who is a “mean-spirited weasel.”

Orly Taitz, Rep. Tim Jones (R-Eureka) and Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-O’Fallon) filed a new set of documents in federal court yesterday, responding to requests that their lawsuit be dismissed. In it, they reassert their allegations that Obama has usurped the Presidency by concealing his “origins,” raise more questions about Obama’s alleged Social Security number problems and ask for time to amend their complaint to outline Obama’s alleged “racketeering” scheme to win the presidency.

“The New Deal will bring the Communist Party within striking distance of overthrow of the American form of government. …” Arthur Henning, Chicago Tribune (1935), “… The New Deal is to America what the early phase of Nazism was to Germany.” Mark Sullivan of the Buffalo Evening News (1935)

While Democrats hold FDR up as an icon, nothing could be further from the truth. FDR prolonged the “Great Depression” by at least a decade because of the wasteful, unconstitutional programs he implemented. Bush and Congress pulled off the biggest heist of century one year ago with the unconstitutional bail outs of private banks. They should all go to jail because any member of Congress who voted for those bail outs is an outlaw. If you legislate outside the supreme law of the land, the U.S. Constitution, you are no better than an outlaw.

The usurper in the White House has pushed through the same flavor programs as FDR with the blessing of the crooks in Congress. One of the most unconstitutional New Deal swindles was the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA). This Act was passed in June 1933. It created another gigantic bureaucracy, like a fat hog giving birth, called the National Recovery Administration. Under the NRA, most manufacturing industries were abruptly and illegally forced into government-mandated cartels.[1]

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), passed earlier this year and dubbed the ‘mother of all stimulus packages,’ is just a duplication of the failed policies of FDR. Not only has it done nothing to stop the hemorrhaging of jobs, the phony “stimulus” will make any recovery impossible for many more years to come. Why? Because we the people will be taxed into poverty to pay for it and have nothing left to spend into the economy. The only thing these unconstitutional bail outs and insane, massive spending bills have done is rob we the people of the fruits of our labor to fund nonsense, filth, more welfare and fill the coffers of Wall Street bankers and cronies of the poltroons in Congress. Here are a few examples (CNN Money):

Demand the Arrest of Kevin Jennings
Many Americans logically anticipate the resignation of President Obama’s “Safe Schools” Czar Kevin Jennings of the US Department of Education. It was in his pedagogic capacity that Jennings advised a 15-year-old boy who was being sexually violated by an adult male, to submit to two years of abuse, and to thus risk a broad spectrum of venereal diseases including AIDS. Instead of reporting the crime to the police, as the law requires, Jennings advised the boy to use condoms during………
