American soldiers serving in Afghanistan are depressed and deeply disillusioned, according to the chaplains of two US battalions that have spent nine months on the front line in the war against the Taleban.
Many feel that they are risking their lives — and that colleagues have died — for a futile mission and an Afghan population that does nothing to help them, the chaplains told The Times in their makeshift chapel on this fortress-like base in a dusty, brown valley southwest of Kabul.

WASHINGTON — A liberal Democratic senator questioned the roles of Obama administration policy “czars” Tuesday, but the White House denied it is using these officials to evade congressional scrutiny.
Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., said Congress needs to know whether some of the czars make policy but have no obligation to submit to congressional questioning.
While the Obama administration is hardly the first to name high-level advisers to handle issues like health care and climate change, Feingold said, “It’s not good enough to simply say, ‘Well, George Bush did it too.’”

The evidence is mounting that the President is suffering from depression or worse. Here is a summary of the observable evidence:

A family photo that shows a little girl beside her father and his fellow soldiers in uniform as they prepare to go to war has resonated well beyond the tight knit Bennethum clan. Four-year-old Paige Bennethum really, really didn’t want her daddy to go to Iraq. So much so, that when Army Reservist Staff Sgt. Brett Bennethum lined up in formation at his deployment this July, she couldn’t let go. No one had the heart to pull her away.

Obama Sells Out on Free Speech at the UN

It has been pretty clear that the Obama administration does not look with particular favor on the second amendment, but it is also becoming increasingly evident that the President is not much of a ‘fan’ of the first one, either.
According to an article by Anne Bayefsky (“You Can’t Say That — At the UN, the Obama administration backs limits on free speech”), The Obama administration has marked its first foray into the UN human rights establishment by backing calls for limits on freedom of expression. The newly-minted American policy was rolled out at the latest session of the UN Human Rights Council, which ended in Geneva on Friday. American diplomats were there for the first time as full Council members and intent on making friends. President Obama chose to join the Council despite the fact that the Organization of the Islamic Conference holds the balance of power and human rights abusers are among its lead actors, including China, Cuba, and Saudi Arabia. Islamic states quickly interpreted the president’s penchant for “engagement” as meaning fundamental rights were now up for grabs. Few would have predicted, however, that the shift would begin with America’s most treasured freedom. |

In those dark hours of the soul when it seems that a shock a day is being launched at We the People from the White House, I return to the drummers and fifers who led the 9/12 march to Washington.
Listening to—or even imagining hearing—the drums and fifes on that day drowns out the hypocrisy of two community organizers now benefiting from the titles of President and First lady of the mighty United States of America.

Is Obama’s Praise of Islam Putting America In Danger?

According to President Obama, the Koran promotes peace and tolerance for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
But that is a dangerous misrepresentation of this inherently violent and undemocratic text, warns bestselling author and Islamic expert Robert Spencer.
In his new book, The Complete Infidel’s Guide to the Koran, Spencer exposes how Obama’s naïve interpretation of the Koran actually encourages terrorism and anti-American sentiment—putting us at greater risk for another terrorist attack.

Yesterday, the Federal Trade Commission issued an 81 page document entitled “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” requiring bloggers who write testimonials about products to disclose gifts or payments they receive. So if a company sends you a dollar-store toy, you will be scrutinized by the government, regardless whether you were asked to post a review or not. Whether it be free review copies of books, trips to oil rigs, payments, t-shirts, whatever it is, you better disclose it, to Uncle Sam, or, as the Washington Post reports, you’ll be fined up to $11,000 in fines…

I just received a call from Orly Taitz, my attorney in the case seeking proof of Obama’s eligibility for the Office of President of the United States. Judge Carter has released a statement declaring that the dates he set for the hearing and trial on the eligibility issue are confirmed, and it will move forward as scheduled. Apparently he was not swayed by the Obama lawyer’s arguments.
GOVERNMENT ARROGANCE IS OUT OF CONTROL!

GOVERNMENT ARROGANCE IS OUT OF CONTROL!
Sooner or later, it will have to be the American people themselves
that decide to put a stop to this out-of-control government
arrogance. Perhaps the sentiments of the late Lyn Nofziger will be
helpful at this point.
You will recall that Mr. Nofziger served as press secretary in Ronald
Reagan’s administration as Governor of California and as a White
House advisor during the Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan
presidencies. Shortly before he passed away, he composed a short
treatise entitled “These Things I Believe.” Here it is:

The White House finds a four-star scapegoat for its Afghan jitters…

Obama And The General
The White House finds a four-star scapegoat for its Afghan jitters. Democrats have found someone worth fighting in Afghanistan. His name is Stan McChrystal. The other night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went after the commander of U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan, “with all due respect,” for supposedly disrespecting the chain of command. Around the Congressional Democratic Caucus, we’re told Members refer to General McChrystal as “General MacArthur,” after the commander in Korea sacked by Harry Truman.
White House aides have fanned these flames with recent leaks to the media that “officials are challenging” his assessment asking for more troops. In the last two days, the White House National Security Adviser and the Secretary of Defense have both suggested that the general should keep his mouth shut. President Obama called him in Friday for a talking-to on the tarmac at Copenhagen airport.
Though a decorated Army four-star officer, the General’s introduction to Beltway warfare is proving to be brutal. To be fair, Gen. McChrystal couldn’t know that his Commander in Chief would go wobbly so soon on his commitment to him as well as to his own Afghan strategy when he was tapped for the job in AprilWe’re told by people who know him that Gen. McChrystal “feels terrible” and “had no intention whatsoever of trying to lobby and influence” the Administration. His sense of bewilderment makes perfect sense anywhere but in the political battlefield of Washington. He was, after all, following orders.

The loss of the Chicago Olympics should not have been particularly embarrassing to Obama. Previous administrations were not tarnished by lost Olympic bids for the simple reason that they did not get involved in them. Bush did not jump on board New York City’s ill fated 2012 Olympic bid. He did not fly out to make a personal appearance, spread his charisma and press the flesh on behalf of a bid being waged by a single city. And there was no reason for him to do so. That is because for all the criticisms directed at Bush by the left and the far-right, he understood his duties and the limits of his power in a way that Obama does not.
