COSTCO  (Brandon, Fla) …A CHANGE IN SHOPPING CART INSPECTION POLICY???

We went to the CostCo store in Brandon, Fla yesterday and was surprised to observe that there had apparently been a distinct change in their policy with the checker at the exit.

They, the checkers, were no longer pawing through your already paid for merchandise, your property, in your shopping cart(s), but merely stopping you and quickly and politely marking your receipt with a magic marker.

I was in the store over an hour and observed the checker lines several times while I was there; it appeared to me that it was not just a case of hurrying up due to a crowd–it was not very busy.

I made it a point to ask to see the store manager and told him that I have been one of the irate, complaining members/customers over there excessive handling and inspection of the items in my shopping cart, and that I had several times complained of this to corporate headquarters, etc. I asked him to also pass my congratulations on their apparent new policy up the line to his seniors. He said he would.

Hopefully, this is in response to our complaints.

Has anyone else out there in other locations seen such changes?

Good idea to praise when satisfied, as well as complain when service is unacceptable.
