Next week’s Copenhagen summit on climate change already seems doomed to failure, and voices on both sides of the global-warming debate are trying to pin the blame on Climategate. Republicans on Capitol Hill are trying to use Climategate to scuttle the Democrats’ cap-and-trade legislation. Even the Saudis — who like fossil fuels even more than Tiger Woods likes the ladies — are getting in on the act, saying the scandal casts the entire case for global warming in doubt.

ANN ARBOR, MI – On Wednesday, December 2nd, in a military courtroom at Camp Pendleton, California, the government began its case against an American warrior. They know this is their last chance to disgrace and destroy the 22 – year career of Marine LtCol Jeffrey Chessani, and it’s evident they are pulling out all the stops.
Many of the spectators in the small courtroom were battle-hardened Marine veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Some were veterans of the Korean Chosin Reservoir battle, considered the most violent small unit fighting in the history of American warfare. All the veterans looked on in disbelief as government lawyers ridiculed a loyal combat officer. The consensus among these battle-hardened veterans ─ they never would have won their battles had their officers been subjected to the same kind of treatment as LtCol Chessani.
LtCol Chessani had served 3 tours of duty in Iraq and was considered one of America’s most effective combat commanders. Chessani, a deeply religious man who read his Bible every morning and evening while in Iraq, stoically listened to the government lawyer’s demeaning remarks, while his wife, pregnant with their seventh child, sat behind him reading her Bible.

12/3/2009 — Excellent news indeed! After a failure of security allowed a couple of publicity hounds to crash a recent Obama White House party, the Secret Service has already begun preliminary investigations and punitive actions. Congress has begun hearings to get to the bottom of it:

It’s too bad — and damned suspicious — that after a much greater failure of security on 9/11, the U.S. military failed to do any of this. To this military professional, the lack of investigation, punishment and congressional inquiry can only mean one thing: an official conspiracy.

The public is “rightfully” making questions about Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president into an issue, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin declared yesterday.
“Would you make the birth certificate an issue if you ran?” Palin was asked in an interview on the Rusty Humphries national radio show.
“I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers,” she replied.
Humphries asked: “Do you think it’s a fair question to be looking at?”

If there is one word that captures President Obama’s much-anticipated Afghanistan speech, it is “cynical.” Yes, the speech was also internally contradictory, counter-historical, and premised on fatally flawed assumptions about Islam and the Afghan people. Cynicism, however, is the defining feature of Obama speeches. This one was no different: from its use of the United States Military Academy as a prop to its concluding assertion that “our resolve is unwavering” . . . after the president had spent the preceding 40 minutes in full waver mode.
There are two things to bear in mind in considering any Obama speech, and they go double for those that touch on national security.
