I was not impressed by Sen. Barack Obama after the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a wholesome presidential package. It is so instinctive for most people to want to see blacks succeed. It is as if all humanity is carrying a collective guilt for what the ancestors of blacks endured. However, despite my initial interest in him, I was soon put off, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor…

Ronald Reagan’s wisdom on the Middle East: LEAVE!
OC Register ^ | July 21, 2006 | John Seiler

Ronald Reagan is America’s most beloved president of recent years. We remember how he restored prosperity while ending the Cold War without getting us all nuked….

It’s worth looking back on Reagan’s policy on involving U.S. troops in the quarrels and hatreds of the Middle East. In 1983, he committed U.S. Marines to Lebanon. On Oct. 23, a terrorist truck bomb blew up the troops’ barracks, killing 220 Marines and 21 other troops.

At first, Reagan insisted that he wouldn’t cave in to the terrorist threat. Then he realized the best policy was to pull out the troops. Here’s how he explained it in his autobiography:

Perhaps we didn’t appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines’ safety that it should have.

In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believed the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today.

Reagan’s sensible policy — “neutral position and neutrality” — should be followed today…. And troops now in Iraq should be brought home immediately. Almost 2,600 have been killed in Iraq, 10 times the number killed in Lebanon when Reagan decided to leave.

BOSTON, MA – Next Tuesday’s Special Election for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts looks to be coming down to the wire. Surprising pundits in what had previously been thought to be a cakewalk for State Attorney General Martha Coakley, the Democratic candidate hoping to fill the seat of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, Republican state Senator Scott Brown has come on strong in the final days of the campaign. But as the election looms, tempers flare, money is poured into the contest from all sides, and Democrats sweat out what should have been a safe seat for them -…

Although Democrats think their health care legislation faces smooth sailing to implementation, there is a rock dead ahead — a constitutional challenge to the legislation’s core. Democrats who assume it is constitutional to make it mandatory for Americans to purchase health insurance should answer some questions: Would it be constitutional for the government to legislate compulsory calisthenics for all Americans? If not, why not? If it would be, in what sense does the nation still have constitutional, meaning limited, government? Supporters of the mandate say Congress can impose it under the enumerated power to regulate interstate commerce. Since the New…

What went wrong? A year ago, he was king of the world. Now President Obama’s approval rating, according to CBS, has dropped to 46 percent — and his disapproval rating is the highest ever recorded by Gallup at the beginning of an (elected) president’s second year. A year ago, he was leader of a liberal ascendancy that would last 40 years (James Carville). A year ago, conservatism was dead (Sam Tanenhaus). Now the race to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in bluest of blue Massachusetts is surprisingly close, with a virtually unknown state senator bursting on the scene by turning…

Ok, I just watched about two minutes of O’Reilly talking to Glenn Beck as both of them outsmarted themselves. Actually, they were both outsmarted by Sarah Palin. They thought they could suggest Palin was less than qualified for the presidency because she wasn’t specific enough in naming her favorite among the founding fathers. Both O’Reilly and Beck have been left in the dust by Palin, as many here would expect. Palin’s answer, showing a general regard for the ideas of the founding fathers rather than focusing on their individual personalities, is in fact consistent with John Adams’ idea that we…

Dr. Sowell’s prophetic assessment of the dangers of Obama (this video was filmed back in 2008) has now been borne out by experience. Video Link

My name is Edgar J. Steele.

Life is funny.  Death isn’t.  Trust me on this one.  I died on November 21, 2009.

Ironically, just two weeks prior to my death I sent a message out to this list that said, in discussing my sabbatical from any sort of public speaking or appearance during the latter part of the year:  “It actually has grown kind of fun to watch the speculation over whether or not I died this summer.” It seemed amusing at the time.  Little did I know.

On November 21 I was sitting in my study, reading, when I felt a little “pop” in my chest.  I sat there for 15 minutes, fearing that I would pass out if I dared try to stand.  Finally, I staggered to my feet, got help and rushed to the local hospital emergency room, where I was quickly diagnosed with a condition serious enough to justify being “choppered” to the nearest cardiac specialty hospital unit.  In fact, they told me that I very likely would not live long enough to get there.  Fortunately, there just happened to be a helicopter parked on the roof at that very time.

The Haiti Earthquake – You Need To
Know Where It Came From

By Dick Eastman

1-15-10
I learned of the earthquake in Haiti yesterday evening when I entered my father’s house to go for our daily walk — he is 89. I saw Bill Clinton and asked my mother what was going on. Then I noticed that Stephanopolis — Clinton’s former Press Secretary was anchoring the news. Clearly this was a well-staged event. As the facts about the earthquake unfolded and how I saw the event was being spun so well for Obama — and Stephanopolis showed none of the emotions or spontaneity — and I saw how callous he was when he interviewed the Haitian president “On a personal level, this must be quite hard for you” — something close to that — what an astoundingly inappropriate thing to ask — but revealing so much — revealing that Stephanopolus, like Clinton who always refers to Americans as “ordinary citizens” — expects detachment from the tragic fate of the “ordinary people” – asking this president if he actually was really feeling something on such an occasion.

1987 movie portrayed America as a dictatorship after an economic collapse

The FBI’s unveiling of a digital billboard in Times Square as part of an effort to enlist public help in finding suspects and displaying other “security messages” sounds like a hybrid of George Orwell’s 1984 and the wacky dictatorship portrayed in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man.

“The FBI’s most wanted will soon be staring at tourists in Times Square. The agency will unveil a digital billboard there Friday,” reports the Associated Press [2].

“It will air pictures of fugitives and missing persons. It also will publicize high-priority security messages. Besides criminals, it will draw attention to kidnap victims and missing children. The FBI hopes the public can help find them.”

What these “high priority security messages” will actually be remains unclear – perhaps the word OBEY in huge black letters on a white background? Or just more fearmongering about why you have to submit to those friendly NYPD officers searching your bags in the name of fighting Al-Qaeda? And in a few years – who knows? Report illegal gun owners? Report thought criminals?

Huge telescreens barking out messages from the government and turning the population into honorary Stasi members constantly on the lookout for criminals and terrorists – where have we seen that before [3]?

A more contemporary comparison can be drawn with the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man, in which one of the opening scenes shows a giant TV in downtown Los Angeles encouraging citizens to turn in their own family members.

The opening text of The Running Man doesn’t sound too far away from the situation in 2010. Since the film is set in 2017, give it seven more years and we’ll probably get there.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is considering a plan to ask governments to impose a global consumer tax on such things as Internet activity or everyday financial transactions like paying bills online. Such a scheme could raise “tens of billions of dollars” on behalf of the United Nations’ public health arm from a broad base of consumers, which would then be used to transfer drug-making research, development and manufacturing capabilities, among other things, to the developing world. The multibillion-dollar “indirect consumer tax” is only one of a “suite of proposals” for financing the rapid transformation of the global medical industry…

Shhhhhhh. The perks of Senate membership just got sweeter. For the first time, all 100 members of the chamber will have their own cloistered hideaways in the U.S. Capitol, traditionally a coveted mark of seniority and clout that lowly freshmen could only dream about. This year, even junior senators will get their own private, unmarked offices that are a convenient few steps from the Senate chamber. The addition of a dozen or so newly renovated rooms in the bowels of the Capitol represents a cultural shift in the custom-bound institution, made possible by moving a Capitol Police facility from the…

It’s gained weight during development, but more importantly, the Navy isn’t sure that the capabilities it provides are what they want to spend more money on. It’s tempting to scrap it and go with an alternative, from a company with recent carrier-jet experience. The obstacle is a headstrong Secretary of Defense who’s staked his reputation on the joint program, but the signals are clear: the moment he’s gone the Navy’s going to bail. Enough…

In a brief appearance with advisers at the White House, Obama branded the latest round of bank bonuses as “obscene.” But he said his goal was to prevent such excesses in the future, not to punish banks for past behavior. A Seed Shortage May Come In 2010

By SUSAN REIMER THE BALTIMORE SUN
Jan. 11, 2010, 10:39AM

Will there be a shortage of vegetable seeds for gardeners in 2010?

It is possible, says Barbara Melera, owner of the oldest seed house in the country, D. Landreth Seeds, formerly of Baltimore and now of New Freedom, Pa.

After back-to-back good years — 2008′s salmonella scares and 2009′s poor economy send homeowners into the garden to grow their own food — you might expect a backslide in seed sales, Melera said. New gardeners get discouraged or bored.

But, she said, “In 2009, we had the worst growing season in 50 years.” Rain and disease destroyed crops and with them, the seeds for next year’s garden.

“Onion sets. And a cucumber seed shortage,” she predicted. “We are being told that the cucumber harvest was catastrophic, attacked late in the season by woolly mildew. There was fruit, but no viable seeds inside.

“We are being told that many, many varieties simply won’t be available.”

Likewise, Europe had a terrible harvest this year, and Europeans purchased much of their produce from the United States, taking with it the seeds.

And, as further proof that we are in a global marketplace, Europeans and Australians have taken a fancy to eating sprouts — tons of sprouts.

“When you grow vegetables just to get the sprouts, nothing gets to fruit. And they are consuming gigantic quantities of seeds just for the purpose of sprouts.”

Word of possible shortages must be leaking out, Melera said, because retailers are telling her they had their best December in years.

It is certainly true that vegetable gardeners are ordering seeds earlier and earlier, but Melera said she thinks it is more likely that gardeners are acting out of fear

THE MARINES! SINCE 1775… OR 1798?
THE TRUE BIRTHDAY OF THE CORPS!

From MarineLINK

“… When the peace treaty with Britain finally was signed in 1783, only the Continental frigate Alliance was still in commission. A small Marine guard commanded by Lieutenant Thomas Elwood stayed with the frigate until Congress decided to sell the vessel in September. With the sale of the Alliance, the Continental Navy and Marines went out of existence.”

From, The United States Marines A History, by BGen Ed Simmons…

“…As for the Marines, only the slenderest thread of continuity can be claimed by virtue of “marines” serving in the Revenue Cutter Service…There were to be Marine “quotas”…not “detachments” for there was no corps from which they could be detached…
…on 11 July 1798, the true birthday of the Corps,
President John Adams approved…establishing and organizing a Marine Corps.”

Customs and Traditions
Marine Corps Birthday Celebration

“The U.S. Marine Corps begins preparations for its “birthday party” every summer. Activities become more feverish as the fall hues arrive. By early November, every Marine is either rehearsing his role in the “party” or pressing, polishing, and spit-shining in order to appear at his or her best for the Birthday Ball. This has not always been the case, however. In fact, Marines have not always celebrated their founding on November the 10th.

MR. CHIEF JUSTICE FULLER, with whom concurred MR. JUSTICE HARLAN dissenting.

I cannot concur in the opinion and judgment of the court in this case.

The proposition is that a child born in this country of parents who were not citizens of the United States, and under the laws of their own country and of the United States could not become such

– as was the fact from the beginning of the Government in respect of the class of aliens to which the parents in this instance belonged — is,

from the moment of his birth a citizen of the United States by virtue of the first clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, any act of Congress to the contrary notwithstanding.

Book I, c.19, § 212.

“The true bond which connects the child with the body politic is not the matter of an inanimate piece of land, but the moral relations of his parentage. . . .

The place of birth produces no change in the rule that children follow the condition of their fathers, for it is not naturally the place of birth that gives rights, but extraction.”

Let’s take a look at what the US government had to say about certain children born on US soil at the time of the adoption of the constitution from recently acquired documents from the national archives. As I’ve stated in the past, one can not limit their research to such a narrow alley that keeps pertinent information from being brought out into the light. You can not define what ‘natural born’ means without looking into all the laws for all types of citizenship and therein lies the answer to the proverbial question: Is Barack H Obama constitutionally qualified to be president under the definition of ‘natural born’ citizen that was adopted & ratified in 1789 by the colonists?
