GUNG HO!
ACCORDING TO EVANS F. CARLSON
ETHICAL INDOCTRINATION

I have found that many writers, in many publications, writing about Carlson, have made the observation that the words Gung Ho have lost much of their original meaning. Also, it has been pointed out that the translation of the words themselves from the Chinese produces even more room for confusion, as there may be multiple definitions or interpretations, just as many American words have more that one dictionary meaning. And, too, many have noted that “Gung Ho!” has been “bastardized” to the point that it is now, to many, just a slogan, a battle cry, or just a word denoting a goodMarine Gung Ho was not something simple to understand, even for Carlson and his Raider Marines–it had to be worked on and lived!

In an article titled “The Legacy of Evans Carlson,” by Robert J. Dalton (LtCol USMC Ret.) in the August 1987 Marine Corps Gazette, the author states, “…Ironically, the term ‘gung ho’ has come to mean almost the opposite of how it was originally used. Today, the term has an aggressive, Prussianistic connotation. It has little of the ‘ethical’meaning for which it was originally used….”

Well, then, what was the intention of the originator of the now famous term, “Gung Ho?”

For the answer to that we can go to Carlson’s own book, Twin Stars Of China, 1941. Carlson wrote, “The superb fighters of the Chinese Eighth Route Army had studied the Japanese methods, tactics, and psychology for years. They knew intimately the strengths and weaknesses of the Japanese troops.

Choose Wisely
The sentiment is brewing, the consensus is collecting and the solution is becoming more apparent: the States of America must reclaim their sovereignty and independence to protect our God-given liberty and freedom. At this point in our country’s existence, I dare say that the time for persuading others to “join their side” is over. For the most part, the people of the states have chosen what type of government they want, how they relate to that government and what they are willing to do to effectuate it………

Health Scandal – Monsanto’s GMO Perversion of Food
In the 2010 growing season Monsanto plans to unleash its latest Frankenfood experiment on the American and Canadian public, a new version of genetically mutated corn with eight abnormal gene traits called Genuity SmartStax corn. It is the culmination of an astonishing scandal that has been steadily building over the past decade. During this time Monsanto’s mutated seeds have grown to 90% of the U.S. soy crop and 85% of the corn crop – and wheat is next on their agenda. Their efforts have been marked by…..

What is More Troubling than Pat Robertson’s Remarks?
Of all the responses to the devastation in Haiti, the most copy-worthy is televangelist Pat Robertson’s claim that the earthquake was divine retribution. In making his case, he told a story about how Haitian leaders long ago made a pact with Satan, promising to serve him if he would help vanquish their French oppressors. The Devil delivered, said Robertson, but the consequence is that the nation has ever since been cursed, with one disaster befalling it after another……

Losing the Pro-Abortion Media Bias

State nullification, whereby a state refuses to comply with a federal measure, became a formal constitutional doctrine in the United States in 1798 when Thomas Jefferson and James Madison penned the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, even though it had been practiced prior to that date. In the Kentucky Resolution, Jefferson laid down a series of constitutional principles. It began, “Resolved, that the several states composing the United States of America, are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their General Government…” That statement alone is enough to shock some people today. But it gets better, much better. “…but…

US aircraft carrier is spearheading a blockade of Haiti’s waters as America prepares for a mass sea exodus of Haitians with thousands fleeing the devastated capital of Port-au-Prince. US officials have drawn up emergency plans to cope with a mass migration crisis and have cleared spaces in detention or reception centres, including the Navy base at Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay. The unprecedented air, land and sea operation, dubbed “Vigilant Sentry”, was launched as a senior US official compared Haiti’s destruction to the aftermath of nuclear warfare. “It is the same as if an atomic bomb had been exploded,” said Kenneth Merten,…

Letter from Senator McCainPosted on | January 19, 2010 |

I actually didn’t send my pleadings to senator McCain. Those were forwarded to him by one of my supporters, Mr. Murray [ed. for that story, read here McCain disagrees with audience member on a president's birthplace], a former law enforcement officer from Utah. I appreciate expedient response from senator McCain, however he is wrong in his assumption, that there is nothing he can do. There are two things that he can do and actually has a duty to do. First- he can bring the issue of Obama’s illegitimacy to presidency to the floor og the Senate and demand immediate Senate Judicial committee hearing. Two- he can sign on as one of my plaintiffs to refile the case in DC. He has the best standing to file Quo Warranto. Senator McCain could withstand torture by Vietnamese communists for years, he can withstand putting his signature on the pleadings. If I could withstand constant death threats, tampering with my car, convicted forgers submitting perjured testimony in different courts to undermine my law license, Obama’s brown shirts in the media and government constantly insulting me, assaulting, harassing and subjecting to retaliations; I am sure he can withstand putting his signature on the pleadings. Please write open letters to each and every congressman and senator, demanding they become plaintiffs or demand that they resign and let people with some guts take their place. (please cc to me).

James Edwards from United systems of Arkansas has offered reduced fee for sending mass certified mail letters to Congress and Senate. Currently I completely ran put of funds and can’t do it. If we will have funds, we’ll send certified mail letters.

Who is the most important European alive today? I nominate the Dutch politician Geert Wilders. I do so because he is best placed to deal with the Islamic challenge facing the continent. He has the potential to emerge as a world-historical figure. That Islamic challenge consists of two components: on the one hand, an indigenous population’s withering Christian faith, inadequate birthrate, and cultural diffidence, and on the other an influx of devout, prolific, and culturally assertive Muslim immigrants. This fast-moving situation raises profound questions about Europe: Will it retain its historic civilization or become a majority-Muslim continent living under Islamic…

Is America Still Making Men?

Is America Still Making Men?
Townhall.com ^ | January 19, 2010 | Dennis Prager

Posted on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 7:39:17 AM by Kaslin

Every society has to answer a few basic questions in order to succeed and even in order to survive. One of them is, “How do we make good men?”

The reason for the importance of this question is simple: Males untutored about how to control their natures will likely do much harm. Conversely, males who are taught to how to control themselves and to channel their drives in positive directions make the world a much better place. The good man is a glory of civilization; the bad man ruins it.

Throughout American history, American society asked, “How do we make men?” (It was understood that “man” meant a good man.) Anyone who thought about the subject knew that boys who are not transformed into men remain boys. And when too many boys do not grow up into men, women suffer and society suffers.

What is a man (as opposed to a boy)? The traditional understanding was that a man is he who takes responsibility for others — for his family, his community and his country — and, of course, for himself. A man stood for ideals and values higher than himself. He conducted himself with dignity. And he was strong.

For much of American history, making boys into men was understood to be of supreme importance, and society was usually successful. When I was a boy in the 1950s, without anyone expressly defining it, I knew what a man was supposed to be. And I knew that society, not to mention my parents, expected me to be one. It went without explicitly saying so that I would have to make a living, support myself as soon as possible and support a family thereafter.

When I acted immaturely, I was told to be or act like a man. I wonder how many boys are told to “be a man” today; and if they were, would they have a clue as to what that meant? It would appear that for millions of American boys, this has not been the reality for decades. Many families and society as a whole seem to have forgotten boys need to be made into men.

There are numerous reasons:

1. The distinction between men and boys has been largely obliterated. The older males that many American boys encounter are essentially older boys, not men. They speak, dress, and act similarly (think of men who “high-five” young boys instead of shaking their hands). And they are almost all called by their first names. Even when a boy (or girl) addresses an adult male as “Mr.,” many men will correct the young boy or girl — “Call me” and then give the young person his first name. This is often true even with regard to teachers, physicians and members of the clergy. When a young person calls an adult by his first name, the status of the two individuals has been essentially equated. Boys need men to respect. It’s not impossible to do so when they call men by their first names, but it makes it much harder.

2. Boys today have fewer adult men in their lives than ever before. Many boys are not raised by any father. More are not raised by a father who lives in the home full time. Nearly every teacher and principal American boys have in elementary and high school is a female. The boy’s clergy person and physician may well be women. And few male figures in contemporary film radiate manhood as defined above.

3. The ideals of masculinity and femininity have been largely rendered extinct. Feminism, arguably the most influential American movement of the 20th century, declared war on the concepts of femininity and masculinity. And for much of the population, it was victorious. Indeed, thanks to the feminist teaching that male and female human beings are essentially the same (note, incidentally, that no one argues that male and female animals are the same, only human beings are), untold numbers of boys have been raised as if they were like girls. They were denied masculine toys such as play guns and toy soldiers, and their male forms of play — e.g., roughhousing — were banned.

4. America has become a rights-centered rather than a responsibility-centered society. Aside from helping to produce a pandemic of narcissism, the rights-centered mindset is the opposite of the obligation/responsibility-centered mindset that makes a boy into a man. It is not good for either sex to be rights-preoccupied; but it is particularly devastating to developing men, as men are supposed to be obligation-directed. The baby boomer generation helped destroy manhood in most of the ways described here. One additional example was its widespread slogan, “Make love, not war.” One cannot come up with a more unmanly piece of advice: “Don’t fight for your country, screw girls.” If the greatest generation had adopted that motto, Hitler and Tojo would have won. A few years ago, the city of Chicago named a street after Hugh Hefner, a man who has played games much of the day and night, lived in pajamas and devoted his life to sex — quite a model of manhood for American boys.

5. There are few places where men can bond with other men. One major way men become men is by associating with other good men. The only places left where this normally takes place are sports teams and the military. The same holds true for boys. And much of society is now working on breaking the most significant all-boys institution, the Boy Scouts.

6. Males no longer have distinctive roles. Men do best when they are relied upon, when needed; and they feel most needed when they do something distinct from women. This exists today in sports and the military. It is symbolic — significantly so — that there are no more “men at work” signs on highways. Now “people” are at work. “Men” have disappeared.

7. Many churches and synagogues have been feminized. This has occurred in at least three important ways: Clergy are increasingly female (and touchy-feely males) — for the first time in Christian and Jewish history; God is often depicted as androgynous and no longer either demanding or judging (He just loves all the time); and religion has been changed from morally and theologically demanding to a therapeutic model. So religion, too, has become yet another place where boys encounter few men, and few masculine models (even in God, as noted, is no longer masculine).

Only days after Secretary of Defense Robert Gates explained the systemic flaws that allowed the Nov. 5 shootings at Fort Hood to take place, I was shocked at what I saw during one television report this morning — especially in light of what other television reports have described. A short while ago, Fox News Channel reporter Steve Harrigan was shown standing upon a hill in Haiti where U.S. Army soldiers, which he described as members of the 82nd Airborne, were overseeing distribution of relief supplies to Haitians desperate for food, water and, in many cases, medical attention. On the Duty of Civil Disobedience

by Henry David Thoreau

I heartily accept the motto, “That government is best which governs least”; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe – “That government is best which governs not at all”; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all governments are sometimes, inexpedient. The objections which have been brought against a standing army, and they are many and weighty, and deserve to prevail, may also at last be brought against a standing government. The standing army is only an arm of the standing government. The government itself, which is only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will, is equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it. Witness the present Mexican war, the work of comparatively a few individuals using the standing government as their tool; for in the outset, the people would not have consented to this measure.

This American government – what is it but a tradition, though a recent one, endeavoring to transmit itself unimpaired to posterity, but each instant losing some of its integrity? It has not the vitality and force of a single living man; for a single man can bend it to his will. It is a sort of wooden gun to the people themselves. But it is not the less necessary for this; for the people must have some complicated machinery or other, and hear its din, to satisfy that idea of government which they have. Governments show thus how successfully men can be imposed upon, even impose on themselves, for their own advantage. It is excellent, we must all allow. Yet this government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way. It does not keep the country free. It does not settle the West. It does not educate. The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way. For government is an expedient, by which men would fain succeed in letting one another alone; and, as has been said, when it is most expedient, the governed are most let alone by it. Trade and commerce, if they were not made of India-rubber, would never manage to bounce over obstacles which legislators are continually putting in their way; and if one were to judge these men wholly by the effects of their actions and not partly by their intentions, they would deserve to be classed and punished with those mischievous persons who put obstructions on the railroads.

An Open Letter to Glenn Beck ~ by Thomas J. DiLorenzo

An Open Letter to Glenn Beck

by Thomas J. DiLorenzo
by Thomas J. DiLorenzo
Recently by Thomas DiLorenzo: Grand Ole Tyrants

Dear Glenn,

First of all, congratulations on deciding to become a community organizer for the cause of liberty and prosperity, as reported all over the media recently. You will be a stark contrast to the Marxist in the White House who boasts of his community organizing efforts for the exact opposite cause, ACORN-style socialism as defined by its Peoples Platform. (His nationalization of banks, General Motors, and possibly health care, and his administrations bombastic, anti-capitalist rhetoric, reminds me a lot of Lenins first months in power.)

Glenn, Im writing to offer a few suggestions with regard to your upcoming community organizing efforts, which I’m sure will attract huge media attention and could potentially be very influential. First, you really need to man up those Five Pledges of yours, especially Pledges 1 and 2. There you say you are in favor of a balanced budget, and that government should not increase the financial burden on taxpayers during difficult economic times.

I certainly agree with the last part of this statement. Raising taxes during a depression is exactly the opposite of what even a central-planning Keynesian would advocate. This only highlights the fact that Obama is not a Keynesian central planner, as Democratic presidents usually are (and most Republicans as well), but a central planner of the Marxian variety. Marxists want to destroy the existing economic system, creating a social catastrophe that they hope will allow them to foment a revolution and consolidate their political power. Keynesians are merely neo-mercantilists who use Keynesian ideology to pull the wool over the publics eyes with regard to their policy of perpetual political plunder under the guise of a perpetual quest for prosperity.

But come on, Glenn, dont fall for that Big Government propaganda line about the alleged virtues of a balanced budget. What the government establishment means by budgetary balance is a devotion to endless tax increases to fund all of their pie-in-the-sky special-interest spending programs. According to this propaganda line a doubling, tripling, or quadrupling of government spending, and the consequent shrinking of private-sector prosperity, is perfectly fine as long as taxes are also doubled, tripled, or quadrupled at the same time. Americans already pay more in taxes than medieval serfs did, so whats so good about waiting for good economic times to be plundered and robbed even more?

Sounds Like Just Another Government Tax To Me….

Looks like everybody wants to get into the act…the “taxing you” racket, that is!

Now, merchants selling Armed Forces branded merchandise must obtain a license to do so and pay royalties to the military.

Sounds like just another tax to me.

We have already seen now that merchants will just hike up their prices to their customers/consumers to recover the additional cost of doing business.

Where will it end? Or will it end?

Reminds me of the tax collector in the old Popeye comic strip who roved around town imposing an impromptu tax on whomever, whatever people were doing at the time.

Back in October, the Obama administration set image of the presidency back at least fifty by taking on Fox News and losing. It started with then White House communications director Anita Dunn saying that Fox is “opinion journalism masquerading as news.” Patting rival networks on the head for their authenticity (White House code meaning in the Tank for Obama), David Axelrod declared Fox “not really a news station.” And Chief of Staff Emanuel told the other networks not to follow Fox. The elements of our big victory in 1994 are largely absent from today’s politics, but this fact bodes even worse for the Democrats. The things that moved conservatives to the polls then seem quaint today.

Who among us thinks the House banking scandal even slightly compares to the headlong rush to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, or the feelings of dread we feel from the healthcare scheme?

Notwithstanding the results of today’s special election in Massachusetts, there are more than an a dozen differences between then and now.

*Illegal alien amnesty: there is more resistance to legal and illegal immigration today then when we melted the phones in Washington over it.

*Healthcare is disapproved by huge ratios, and has ignited street rallies that never happened in 1994.

*Global Warming is being seen as the hoax it is and Democrat support for it taints them.

*There was no such thing as a TEA Party in 1994.

Avatar is racist, say paranoid critics

Posted: 18 Jan 2010 03:30 PM PST

Philadelphia – Near the end of the hit movie Avatar, the villain snarls at the hero: “How does it feel to betray your own race?” Both men are white – although the hero inhabits a blue-skinned, 2.75 metre-tall, long-tailed alien.

Strange as it may seem for a film that pits greedy, immoral humans against noble denizens of a faraway moon, Avatar is being criticised by a small, but vocal group of people who allege it contains racist themes – the white hero once again saving the primitive natives.

Since the movie opened to widespread critical acclaim three weeks ago, hundreds of blog posts, newspaper articles, tweets and YouTube videos have made claims such as that the film is “a fantasy about race told from the point of view of white people” and reinforces “the white Messiah fable”.

The film’s writer and director, James Cameron, said the real theme is about respecting others’ differences.

In the movie (read no further if you don’t want to spoil the plot) a white, paralyzed Marine, Jake Sully, is mentally linked to an alien’s body and set loose on the planet Pandora. His mission: persuade the mystic, nature-loving Na’vi to make way for humans to mine their land for unobtanium, worth $20m per kilogramme back home.

Obvious metaphor
Like Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves and Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai or as far back as Jimmy Stewart in the 1950 Western Broken Arrow, Sully finds his allegiances soon change. He falls in love with the Na’vi princess and leads the bird-riding, bow-and-arrow-shooting aliens to victory over the white men’s spaceships and mega-robots.

Adding to the racial dynamic is that the main Na’vi characters are played by actors of colour, led by a Dominican, Zoe Saldana, as the princess. The film also is an obvious metaphor for how European settlers in America wiped out the Indians.

Robinne Lee, an actor in such recent films as Seven Pounds and Hotel for Dogs, said that Avatar was “beautiful” and that she understood the economic logic of casting a white lead if most of the audience is white.

But she said the movie, which remained No 1 at the box-office domestically for the fourth straight weekend with $48.5m and is second among all-time top-grossing films worldwide, still reminded her of Hollywood’s Pocahontas story – “the Indian woman leads the white man into the wilderness, and he learns the way of the people and becomes the saviour”.

“It’s really upsetting in many ways,” said Lee, who is black with Jamaican and Chinese ancestry. “It would be nice if we could save ourselves.”

Annalee Newitz, editor-in-chief of the sci-fi website io9.com, likened Avatar to the recent movie District 9, in which a white man accidentally becomes an alien and then helps save the aliens, and 1984’s Dune, in which a white man becomes an alien Messiah.

“Main white characters realise that they are complicit in a system which is destroying aliens, AKA people of colour… (then) go beyond assimilation and become leaders of the people they once oppressed,” wrote Newitz, who is white. “When will whites stop making these movies and start thinking about race in a new way?”

Old Hollywood traditions
Black film professor and author Donald Bogle said he can understand why people would be troubled by Avatar, although he praised it as a “stunning” work.

“A segment of the audience is carrying in the back of its head some sense of movie history,” said Bogle, author of Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies & Bucks: An Interpretive History of Blacks in American Films.

Bogle stopped short, however, of calling the movie racist.

“It’s a film with still a certain kind of distortion,” he said. “It’s a movie that hasn’t yet freed itself of old Hollywood traditions, old formulas.”

Writer/director Cameron, who is white, said in an e-mail that his film “asks us to open our eyes and truly see others, respecting them even though they are different, in the hope that we may find a way to prevent conflict and live more harmoniously on this world. I hardly think that is a racist message.”

There are many ways to interpret the art that is Avatar.

What does it mean that in the final, sequel-begging scene, Sully abandons his human body and transforms into one of the Na’vi? Is Saldana’s Na’vi character the real heroine because she, not Sully, kills the arch-villain? Does it matter that many conservatives are riled by what they call liberal environmental and antimilitary messages?

Historical evils
Is Cameron actually exposing the historical evils of white colonisers? Does the existence of an alien species expose the reality that all humans are actually one race?

Although the Avatar debate springs from Hollywood’s historical difficulties with race, Will Smith recently saved the planet in I Am Legend, and Denzel Washington appears ready to do the same in the forthcoming Book of Eli. However these movies are just fantasy, it would be highly unlikely for black people to save the world when they are unable to save themselves in their own continent, Africa.

Bogle, the film historian, said that he was glad Cameron made the film and that it made people think about race.

“Maybe there is something he does want to say and put across” about race, Bogle said. “Maybe if he had a black hero in there, that point would have been even stronger.”

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” –Marcus Tullius Cicero 42B.C.
The title of this column is a caption from a recent CNN poll news item which contained some extraordinary comments from poltroons like Jon Kyl of Arizona, a counterfeit U.S. Senator who sold out the people of Arizona and these united states of America with his solid support of lawlessness and the recently defeated amnesty bill. Kyl is quoted in the aforementioned: “It is a sad commentary in America today that many Americans have lost faith in their government,” Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Arizona, said. He added, “Americans don’t believe that their government is representing them, is acting on their behalf. The polls show it.”
And, whose fault is that Kyl? This news item says it’s come down to the people vs the government: “It was a bipartisan bill, supported by President Bush and by most Democrats in Congress. Why didn’t it pass? Because the people didn’t like it.” That’s right, the American people by a margin of some 68-72% were demanding its defeat. If ever there was a reason for one state to take up a challenge of the fraudulent ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment, it is Arizona. Unless and until the states finally decide they want back their rightful and equal power, the federal machine will continue stomping on them in pursuit of dissolving America and absorbing US into one region of world government with Mexico and Canada. Back in April 2004, Zell Miller [D-GA], a former counterfeit U.S. Senator recommended rescinding the Seventeenth Amendment. You can’t rescind a law that does not exist and the Seventeenth Amendment absolutely, clearly and without question was never ratified by the states of the Union.

The well-funded jihad is relentless.  And why not?  The idiots from the West have given trillion$ in oil money to members of one of the two most aggressive proselytizing cults on the planet.

Now the Senegalese government has offered to take in Haitian immigrants, which sounds like a very nice offer, except when you consider the fact that Senegal is 96% Islamic. What that fact would likely mean, of course, is that anyone entering Senegal would be heavily proselytized if not forced outright to convert. Will these converts return to Haiti, Islamized and with Muslim children in tow, etc.?

Moreover, what steps are being implemented in Haiti to ensure that it comes into line with the global Islamic sharia banking/financing plan? As we know, along with sharia banking comes the rest of sharia law, as well as Islam itself.

Islam’s Haitian Effort: ‘Pure Recruitment’

The country has been warned of fraudulent online websites, embarrassed by the comments offered by aging televangelist Pat Robertson, and cautiously concerned that our own government might not want to “waist a good tragedy” for political gain.

Today there should be (there won’t be due to political correctness) a growing concern with the offer from the government of Senegal; the regime in the Capitol of Dakar has openly offered Haitian Refugees “free land” throughout the West-African nation.

The Battle for the American Soul is Over and Jay Leno Won

By Joe Bageant

January 15, 2010 “World News Trust” — Jan. 14, 2010 — Holy smoking Jesus, America is losing its middle class! “We’re taxing the middle class out of existence,” charge the conservatives. “The middle class is being hollowed out,” wail the liberals, pouring forth great mock turtle tears (although one wonders how such a vacuum as middle class life in America could be further hollowed).

For both political camps, high dudgeon over “the vanishing middle class” is supposed to represent some sort of “new populism.” Not that the populace disagrees with them, mainly because the populace, if we are referring to the genuine America populace, hasn’t the slightest notion of the definition of populism. But the word sounds like it has to do with popularity, the highest virtue in the American mind, and can even lead to the celestial heights called celebrity. So what the hell, they’re willing to run with it.

In any case, much overwrought political theater is being dedicated to the subject of the middle class’ demise. If demise is the right word for losing its ability to engorge on commodities at obscene levels.

A month or so ago I watched news footage of some fat guy being interviewed inside the three-car garage of his $300,000 cardboard house. The poor fellow was about to lose his bass boat, and maybe his home too. From the looks of it, I’d say the bass boat was a Ranger X520. Now these babies start at $45K, not to mention the $30K for the four wheel drive usually seen pulling. Looked like it was sitting on a 20-plus foot Hurricane boat trailer, another $4K or $5K. My wife, who was watching the show with me, turned and said, “What class is this man supposed to be in?”

“I don’t know, they say middle class.” “Hmmm. Whatever it is, we’ve never been members.”

George Jones and Tammy Wynette said it all when they sang:

The U.S. must not ‘occupy’ Haiti, declares French minister as aid FINALLY trickles through
dailymail ^

Posted on Monday, January 18, 2010 12:41:07 PM by traumer

The UN must step in to ensure the U.S. is not occupying Haiti in the wake of a devastating earthquake that may have killed 200,000 people, a French minister has said.

French Cooperation Minister Alain Joyandet spoke as the country descended into anarchy. Aid is only just trickling through the ‘bottleneck’ at Haiti’s airport, while angry Haitians desperate for help are striking out at international agencies – and each other.

Some 10,000 U.S. troops are on the way to try to restore order – but their role is being questioned.

‘This is about helping Haiti, not about occupying Haiti,’ Joyandet, in Brussels for an EU meeting on Haiti, said on French radio.

Joyandet has already complained about America’s role in Haiti. Last week U.S. forces turned back a French aid plane carrying a field hospital from the damaged, congested airport in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, prompting criticism from the French minister.

The plane landed safely the following day.

In another weekend incident, some 250 Americans were flown to New Jersey’s McGuire Air Force Base on three military planes from Haiti.

U.S. forces initially blocked French and Canadians nationals from boarding the planes, but the cordon was lifted after protests from French and Canadian officials.

The Militarization of Emergency Aid to Haiti: Is it a Humanitarian Operation or an Invasion? By Michel Chossudovsky

January 18, 2010 Leave a comment

The Militarization of Emergency Aid to Haiti:

Is it a Humanitarian Operation or an Invasion?

By Michel ChossudovskyHaiti has a longstanding history of US military intervention and occupation going back to the beginning of the 20th Century. US interventionism has contributed to the destruction of Haiti’s national economy and the impoverishment of its population.

The devastating earthquake is presented to World public opinion as the sole cause of the country’s predicament.

A country has been destroyed, its infrastructure demolished. Its people precipitated into abysmal poverty and despair.

Haiti’s history, its colonial past have been erased.

The US military has come to the rescue of an impoverished Nation. What is its Mandate?

Is it a Humanitarian Operation or an Invasion?

January 17, “GlobalResearch” January 15, 2010 — The main actors in America’s “humanitarian operation” are the Department of Defense, the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). (See USAID Speeches: On-The-Record Briefing on the Situation in Haiti, 01/13/10). USAID has also been entrusted in channelling food aid to Haiti, which is distributed by the World Food Program. (See USAID Press Release: USAID to Provide Emergency Food Aid for Haiti Earthquake Victims, January 13, 2010)

The military component of the US mission, however, tends to overshadow the civilian functions of rescuing a desperate and impoverished population. The overall humanitarian operation is not being led by civilian governmental agencies such as FEMA or USAID, but by the Pentagon.

The dominant decision making role has been entrusted to US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

A massive deployment of military hardware personnel is contemplated. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen has confirmed that the US will be sending nine to ten thousand troops to Haiti, including 2000 marines. (American Forces Press Service, January 14, 2010)

Aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson and its complement of supporting ships has already arrived in Port au Prince. (January 15, 2010).  The  2,000-member Marine Amphibious Unit as well as and soldiers from the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne division “are trained in a wide variety of missions including security and riot-control in addition to humanitarian tasks.”

Stephen Harper must be doing something right

imageLike people, all countries have problems. The prime example that comes to mind is of course Haiti whose capital city and government were obliterated in last week’s earthquake that has left hundreds of thousands of people dead. Iran has problems too; while its leaders are ignoring calls to end its nuclear program, students and others who oppose the regime, are taking to the streets in massive demonstrations that are reminiscent of the fall of the Shah. Then there are countries that are in a constant state of war or terrorist attacks such as Afghanistan and Iraq.

He was a radical progressive who fought for a Marxist revolution in his native China, prevailing to lead the country for 27 tumultuous years. Despite boasting he fought “for the People,” Mao’s Great Leap Forward, Cultural Revolution, and other progressive policies resulted in the killing of 77 million people, according to genocide expert Professor J.R. We have met the Enemy and he is us?
Having worked within the military, at various levels, I have developed a pretty good idea of how and why things move the way they do. There is always a goal, a mission, or an end state that is behind every move of the federal government. Many of the moves I see being put into place by the federal government are looking inward and combine that with the Department of Homeland Security, and police powers integrated with the Military, all for operations within the borders of this country and I have to question the motives and………

New Obama Executive Order Angers US Constitutionalists
While the mainstream media covers most legislation being debated on the floors of both houses of the US Congress, it is the presidential executive orders that are implemented with enormous impact on the lives of American citizens that should be exposed. For example, this past week, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order thereby creating a Council of Governors to create a working relationship between the Federal Government and State Governments to protect the United States against all types……

PDD 51 & New Executive Order Give Obama Dictator Power 180110top

An Obama executive order that creates a council of state governors who will work with the feds to expand military involvement in domestic security, together with PDD 51, a Bush era executive order that gives the President dictatorial power in times of national emergency, eliminate the last roadblocks to declaring martial law in the United States.

The new order, which is entitled Establishment of the Council of Governors [2] (PDF), creates a body of ten state governors directly appointed by Obama who will work with the federal government to help advance the “synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States”.

The governors will liaise with officials from Northcom, Homeland Security, the National Guard as well as DoD officials from the Pentagon “in order to strengthen further the partnership between the Federal Government and State governments,” according to the executive order.

The exective order combines seamlessly with Presidential Decision Directive 51 [3] to hand Obama dictator status in times of declared, and not necessarily genuine, national emergency.

MSNBC television and syndicated radio host Ed Schultz declared that he would stuff the ballot box in Massachusetts if he could to prevent Republican Scott Brown from upsetting Democrat Martha Coakley in the race to fill the state’s Senate seat formerly held by Edward M. Kennedy.

Whatever it takes to keep “the bastards” out of power.

“I tell you what, if I lived in Massachusetts I’d try to vote 10 times,” said Schultz on his Friday radio show. “I don’t know if they’d let me or not, but I’d try to. Yeah, that’s right. I’d cheat to keep these bastards out. I would. ‘Cause that’s exactly what they are.”

Obama Death Plan: Americans Forced to pay for ObamaBribes

By Sher Zieve  Monday, January 18, 2010

With no one in Congress—thus far—even attempting to stop the atrocities committed by Dictator-in-Chief Barack Hussein Obama, he and his patently corrupt Democrat Party leaders have managed to bribe any and all voting members and substantive monetary and goon-squad contributors to support the passage of his ObamaCare Death Plan.

Initially, Madame Pelosi DeFarge twisted arms and came close to breaking legs in order to pass the House of Representative’s version of this beastly bill (HR 3200).Note: We-the-People still have no idea how many family members—including small and helpless children—Pelosi threatened to rub out if the Congressional boys and girls didn’t play ball and follow her orders.

On the other hand, Harry “this war is lost” Reid made the decision—apparently early on—to give taxpayer money to his more calcitrant Democrat senators in order to bribe them for their votes. It took him $300 Millions to buy Louisiana Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu’s vote and a Medicaid exemption into perpetuity—for Nebraska—to buy Senator Ben Nelson’s (D-NE) vote. In order to buy off the unions, Obama—himself—had to meet with union leadership and agree that union leaders and their members will be able to retain their so-called “Cadillac Health Insurance” policies and not pay the proposed 40% tax on them that the rest of us will have to pay. In order to do this, Obama et al will—in no uncertain terms—cut Medicare in draconian ways and possibly more than the $500 Billions they already plan to gut/steal from it to pay for the establishment of their totalitarian government agencies. This effectively gives the unions a $60 Billions payoff for supporting Obama in his 2012 presidential run. That’s $60 Billions in bribes of OUR money (and $500 Billions gutted from Medicare to end the lives of seniors—early on—and pay for Obama‘s fiasco) that Obama gave the union thugs as bribes to both give positive lip service to the ObamaCare Death Plan and provide support for the tyrant’s 2012 campaign. We-the-People, of course, will now be expected to work even harder (although Obama has ended over 3,000,000 middle-class jobs since he seized office) to pay back the $60 Billions and $500 Billions that he and his Democrat colleagues have stolen from us—and will steal again once we‘ve replaced it.

Note: Remember ObamaCare is NOT about health care. It is, however, about taking over and dictating each and every aspect of Americans’ lives.

Gunny Gaines,
Looking for some info on an incident that reportedly happened in about 1954 or so at MCAS CPNC when some enlisted Marines flew an R4Q from Cherry Point to New Orleans. Not NAP’s but perhaps a Crew Chief and a Radio Operator. Did it on a dare or something.
Any info.

Thanks,

I was at 2dMAW, CPNC from 1958-59.

I do recall–vaguely–the story, but little of the deatils.

I was reminded of that story lately when I picked up some used books by WEB Griffin (novels) where he has a T/Sgt (NAP, I think) flying a plane from either San Diego or Hawaii, against orders, to a carrier at sea.

At CP, I recall also an R4Q going down short of the runway, one stormy nite.

Regret I recall very little of the story you ask about.

Obama Speaks From Pulpit, Noting Progress And Difficulty In America The president visits a church founded by freed slaves and where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. sometimes spoke.

By Mark Silva January 17, 2010

Reporting from Washington – President Obama, speaking today from the pulpit of a church where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. sometimes spoke, called on the congregation to rally around the spirit that had helped their ancestors pursue a long road to freedom. “It’s that progress that allowed me to be here today,” said Obama, the first African American president.

The president, who doesn’t frequently attend Sunday church services in Washington and has not found a permanent congregation for his family in the capital, joined in the services this morning at the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church. The president arrived with First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha.

The church, founded in 1866 by seven freed slaves, originally was known as the Fifth Baptist Church of Washington, D.C.

“It feels like a family,” Obama told the congregation. There are at least a couple of occasions that might have prompted today’s outing: the deaths of tens of thousands of Haitians in an earthquake that has shaken all of the Americas, as well as the birthday of the slain civil rights leader King, which is celebrated on Monday with a national holiday.

“We gather here on the Sabbath at a time of extreme difficulty for our nation and the world,” the president said, speaking much like a preacher from the pulpit. “We are not here just to ask the Lord for his blessing. We’re also here to call on the memory of one of his servants, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.”

The Dirty Dozen: How Twelve Supreme Court Cases Radically Expanded Government and Eroded Freedom by Robert A. Levy and William Mellor (Sentinel, 2008); 299 pages.

Americans like lists. Most often, we get “Top Ten” lists, but this book is a top dozen list, a list of the most damaging Supreme Court decisions during and since the New Deal era. The authors, two lawyers with strong libertarian philosophies, set out to show which decisions have had the most detrimental impact by expanding the realm of government coercion and depriving people of their liberty. This, they correctly observe, is a target-rich environment. The Supreme Court has been blundering along a statist/collectivist path for many decades and each passing term brings new decisions that make constitutionalists hang their heads in despair. “Seldom,” Levy and Mellor write, “has the ratchet of the Court’s decisions turned toward greater individual liberty. To the contrary, the Court has further and further restricted the freedoms that Americans should enjoy as a birthright.”

Barack Obama’s election did not usher in a post-racial America. Instead, speaking honesty about race is taboo, writes Toby Harnden in Washington. A year ago, Americans were basking in what many believed was a post-racial new dawn. The United States was just about to inaugurate its first black President. Across the world, those who had pronounced the country too mired in its past to elect an African-American were being forced to reassess. Fast forward to last week and the American chattering classes were engaged in the kind discussion about race that makes one despair. I use the term “discussion” but…

When a member of Barack Obama’s administration recently praised China’s Marxist Chairman Mao as a “favorite political philosopher,” confusion followed. So, who was Mao and why does Obama’s administration publicly praise him? It’s easy to briefly describe Mao Zedong. I went back to the US for a few weeks during Christmas, just before the Detroit bomber incident. When the attempted bombing was foiled, America’s major news networks and newspapers – almost all in the solid liberal/left column, went to work to help the hapless Obama administration mange its damage control. Right after the bombing, the Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, stated on a national news programme that in the case of the Detroit bomber, “the system worked”. Obama’s press secretary, Robert Gibbs, also stated that “the system worked”. Of course, it was blatantly obvious that when the system to…

imageWhen the brave drummers and fifers were the front line at the 9.12 project in Washington DC last September, patriots from the State of Michigan sent up the loudest cheer.  Culled by Internet Email, the drummers and fifers made people’s eyes tear over when they were forced to march on toward the Capitol one hour and a half earlier than scheduled.  Not knowing what was ahead, it was their moment of unforgettable pride when they saw a million people cheering them on,  and more people still pouring into the streets for the protest that put Tea Parties on the American map.

(MYFOX NATIONAL) – Have you ever wanted to send an email or document with a little sarcasm, but didn’t want to risk being misunderstood? The solution to this very real problem was announced through a press release Tuesday: Enter the sarcasm mark or “SarcMark,” available under for $2.

Sarcasm Inc. of Washington Township, Mich., has released software for computer systems and Blackberry devices that can be downloaded for $1.99. The software provides a mark that looks like an open circle with a dot in the center; or an upside down “g” or “@” symbol. UPI posted a image of the mark .

The company Web site states the reason they developed the sarcasm mark was that “the written word has question marks and exclamation points to document those thoughts, BUT sarcasm has NOTHING!”

Paul Sak, of Sarcasm, explained in an email that the company is serious about the mark. “The SarcMark is a punctuation mark, designed with that in mind,” wrote Sak. “It is roughly the size of other characters and with the SarcMark font downloaded, it behaves like any other font character. It specifically has a point or period incorporated in it, just like all other main punctuation marks: question mark ?, exclamation point !, colon :, semi-colon ; and of course the period.”

Washington — Comments on the Federal Communications Commission’s proposed expansion and codification of network-neutrality rules flooded the agency last week against a new backdrop: the suggestion that the oral argument in the BitTorrent case could call into question the commission’s authority to regulate Internet access. While Comcast argued in federal court that the case should be decided on more narrow grounds than a referendum on that issue, Internet regulatory authority — and how much of it the FCC has — was a topic of sufficient conversation from the three-judge panel to throw a scare into fans of network-neutrality regulation. Red-FACED American officials have withdrawn a photofit mugshot of terror chief Osama bin Laden – after admitting they used a Spanish politician’s face. The “wanted” image of the al-Qaeda leader as he might look now without his trademark long beard and turban was posted on the internet by the FBI. But it was based on a photograph of Communist MP Gaspar Llamazares found on Google by an FBI technician who was dissatisfied with his collection of photofit facial features – and launched a web search, keying in “faces” with “Islamic names”.

Lest We Forget: TWO PHOTOS: One Well Known…The Other, Not So Well Known…

WTC Flag
Lest We Forget!

Of the two photos above, the one of the NYC firemen raising the flag  at the site of the WTC after the 9/11 attack is now well known.

The other photo, however, is not so well known. That photo is one of the photos by Leatherneck magazine photographer, S/Sgt Lou Lowery, taken on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima on 23 February 1945, of the actual flag raising there at about 1020 on that morning.

Lowery had accompanied 1/Lt. Harold G. Schrier and his 40-man combat patrol (Easy Company, 2ndBn, 28th Marines), up the hill to raise our national colors; this was the first time in 2,000 years that a foreign flag had been raised on the Japanese homeland.

Later that same day, a larger, “replacement” flag was substituted for  the original, and was photographed at that time by Joe Rosenthal; and it was that photo that soon became famous as The Iwo Jima Flag Raising.

The WTC Flag picture, above, has recently appeared many times displayed  together with Rosenthal’s photo, but I have never seen it in combination with the genuine article by Lowery, therefore, I think that this combination of photos above is more appropriate, and each photo complements the other most fully…

Here is video of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs being peppered with questions from the White House Press Corps about the lack of “transparency” in the way President Obama and the Democrats have conducted their fashioning of Health Care legislation.

One reporter after another chimed in that Obama promised transparency during his campaign, but has not delivered as President.

Fox News’ Major Garrett reacted to Gibbs’ defense that they have issued summaries of what has been done by saying, “That wasn’t the standard that we heard in the campaign.”

Gibbs was his typical buffoonish self, laughing like a hyena at one point, and trying to calm the reporters with an extended “Hooooooooooold Onnnnnnnnnn.”

The bottom line is that “transparency” served Obama as a campaign slogan, but it does not serve his interests as President, because he knows the light of day will reveal things he does not want the American people to see. . . . (VIDEO)

Questionable Origin Of The Term “Leatherneck”!

Questionable Origin Of The Term “Leatherneck”!

http://www.southcoastsar.org/Leathernecks.htm#nkn

“It is questionable whether the origin of the term “Leatherneck” can be accepted as a legitimate member of the family of legends. More like a tradition, it is. For there can be no doubt of the origin, considering that U. S. Marines of three generations wore leather collars. It is as obvious as the nickname “Red” for a recruit with carrot-colored hair and freckles.

Now accepted by Webster as a synonym for Marine, the term “Leatherneck” was derived from a leather stock once worn around the neck by both American and British Marines–and soldiers also. Beginning in 1798, “one stock of black leather and clasp” was issued to each U. S. Marine annually.

Democratic candidate Martha Coakley’s Senate campaign in Massachusetts has given up every news cycle this week to a self-inflicted blunder — a fact the National Republican Senatorial Committee happily pointed out to reporters on Friday. But the liberal BlueMassGroup blog has found a video that reflects rather poorly on GOP candidate Scott Brown, in which he joshes with a TV reporter, in 2008, about whether Barack Obama was born out of wedlock.

Obama, The Emperor, Has No Clothes: We’ve Reached The Tipping Point And His Programs Must Be Stopped

If we had a Winston Churchill in the White House, America would still be in mortal danger and we would have a long, tough fight for survival ahead. We face a threat of Islamic terrorism as dangerous as any of the many threats of our history including that of Nazi Germany, Soviet Communism, Italian Fascism, and Japanese Imperialism. We face economic problems and international competition that call into question our ability to maintain the productive economy necessary to support the military machine needed for survival. We have a failed educational system that will not provide the scientific innovation and educated personnel and other advances necessary to maintain economic viability in the 21st Century. We have a biased, dishonest, and fraudulent mainstream media that misleads and deceives rather than informing and educating the public on the issues of our times.

But we don’t have this best-case scenario in the White House — we have the worst-case scenario. Yes, it’s about time America wakes up to the fact that we have a radical, leftist, socialist politician who still carries the trademark of the corrupt Cook County Chicago political machine from which he came and who has populated the White House with wild radicals and thugs willing to use intimidation and anything else if needed to achieve their goals. The Chicago machine adopts the Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals that says the end justifies the mean, i.e., anything goes. On top of that our president is incompetent. At this time of the greatest danger to America, we have another even greater danger: a president not up to the job and not fit for the job.

Someone has to ask the president, “Have you no decency? Have you no character? Have you no honesty? Do your words and your promises mean nothing? Are you willing to justify any means to achieve your ends?” Yes, we are well past the tipping point, and it is time for the obvious conclusion, “The emperor has no clothes.” If we don’t recognize Mr. Obama for what he is by now, we must be clueless and hopeless.

President Barack Hussein Obama has clearly demonstrated he is exactly what many expected and even much worse. For example, right from the beginning, early in the last presidential campaign, I said Mr. Obama was a world-class fraud, phony, faker, fibber, and four-flusher and a radical, liberal, leftist socialist, America-hater to boot. Now, I realize that description may sound strong, but it wasn’t strong enough. Mr. Obama is much worse than that.

Every politician may break campaign promises. But even the most corrupt ones have limits. Mr. Obama has no limits. At the very core of his campaign, he claimed to be the great post-partisan, non-partisan unifier to bring us all together and listen to every side of every issue. He told us a gazillion times there are no Red States and Blue States but only the United States. He claimed a new politics, with openness and transparency in all matters. He was the great courier of hope and change. But that was just campaign rhetoric and even post-election rhetoric. He has demonstrated he is the exact opposite of his basic claims. He is highly partisan, content to shutout, shut up, and ignore Republican ideas and Republican voices. He rejects transparency, and is as secretive and opaque as possible. Other politicians have broken campaign promises, but never on a scale such as this involving the promises most central to their campaigns, and never before so openly and brazenly with so little regard for the citizens who were sold this fraudulent bill of campaign goods.

For proof of Mr. Obama’s breaking all of his core promises, look at what is going on with ObamaCare. Everyone probably remembers his promise, repeated at least eight times, that negotiations on the health-care bill would be televised on C-SPAN and would be streaming on the Internet. Among his statements: “We’re going to do all these negotiations on C-SPAN…We will work on the process publicly … These negotiations will be on C-SPAN.” He constantly explained that putting all negotiations (yes, he said, “all”) on C-SPAN would assure that everyone could see for themselves whether their Congressmen were putting forth arguments on behalf of insurance companies, drug companies, and other special interest groups or making arguments on behalf of most of their constituents. You can hear him make this promise by going to the Internet, where at least eight videos of Mr. Obama making that promise are collected (www.thenakedemperornews.com).

The other examples of Mr. Obama’s breaking his promise of transparency and openness in every way can be cited that are just as extreme as the C-SPAN promise. The negotiations to reconcile the Senate and House version of ObamaCare are being carried out behind closed doors in secrecy. Republicans are not even represented.

And his core promise of bipartisanship has also been demonstrated to be a total fraud, which is what Mr. Obama is. He called for bipartisanship and a new politics all during the campaign and continues to do so (apparently in an attempt to silence Dick Cheney and other leading critics of his policies that are making America vulnerable to terrorism). But Mr. Obama’s words and rhetoric have no connection with his actions and programs. Republicans have had no part in drafting the legislation and their ideas and amendments have been ignored. There has been no real attempt to adopt the many sound suggestions and legislative proposals made by Republicans, such as permitting the purchase of health insurance across state lines and doing something to curb malpractice lawsuit abuse. Mr. Obama and the Democratic Congress have been strictly partisan, and haven’t even been willing to adopt a token idea from across the aisle. They do not want one note of dissent and not one baby compromise. They have made it clear that ObamaCare will be jammed down the throat of the American people regardless of their views and regardless of democratic values and traditions. Even a question about the constitutionality of Obamacare was fobbed off by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, as if the reporter asking the question must be deranged for even raising the issue. In fact, there are serious questions about aspects of the ObamaCare proposals.

What is even more outrageous than breaking the most fundamental Obama promises is the attempt to pretend they are not being broken. Obama’s White House actually refuses to explain why these promises are being broken. In fact, they won’t even respond to questions about the C-SPAN promise. When Mr. Obama’s press secretary, Robert Gibbs, was asked about it, he simply ignored the question and did so the next day when the same question was asked. When Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was asked about it, she went into a speech claiming this was the most open and transparent legislative process in memory. Her reply was Orwellian, being the exact opposite of the truth. The Obama team apparently thinks the Americans are totally idiots willing to believe brazen, blatant, bold-faced lies.

This isn’t hope and change. This isn’t politics as usual. This is worse than politics as usual. This is the corrupt Chicago-style machine politics of thugs and intimidators. Recall that Mr. Obama came out of the corrupt Chicago machine and even refused to work with those trying to bring about its reformation. And now we see he has brought the corruption and thuggery of that style of politics to the White House. We not only have that style of politics in control in the White House, but even worse, its agenda is the radical, liberal, leftist, socialist program that runs contrary to American values and the very principles of our Founding Fathers. As we know, right before his election, Mr. Obama said he was going to fundamentally transform America. And that’s what he is doing, but transforming it by destroying its constitutional structure.

He is involved in an unprecedented expansion of government, explosion of spending, national debts and deficits, taxation, and regulation of every aspect of American life. His debt is unsustainable, and his expansion of government is so great that it is going to squeeze out and kill the private sector. That government expansion will also kill American entrepreneurship upon which America’s productivity has always depended. At the same time, it is contracting our liberties. A gargantuan government controls almost everything and that means the private market and the private citizen control almost nothing. His signature legislation on health-care is an attempt to control America and Americans. The Obama agenda is nothing more than the “road to serfdom.”

If that’s not bad enough, this corrupt Chicago-style politician has demonstrated he is incompetent, as this column has documented. (See, for example, “Time for a Change? Obama’s Mistakes Say So,” Jan. 10.) In addition, he seems detached from our major threat of Islamic terrorism. As Charles Krauthammer has pointed out, his initial responses to the Christmas terrorism in Detroit sounded more like a police report than a leader responding to an existential threat to American survival. Mr. Obama spoke of a “suspect” who was an “isolated extremist” who “allegedly” committed certain acts. It took him three days to come up with that initial, pathetically lame response. Only on his fifth attempt did Mr. Obama finally recognize we are at war. But, his earlier responses probably reflected his true views and feeling, and his fifth attempt was probably an act, scripted by his advisors who realized his early statements were turning the public off.

Mr. Obama and the radicals and thugs now entrenched in the White House are bad enough, and are a certain formula for the destruction of America. But making a bad situation worse is the mainstream media, which acts more as an advocate for Mr. Obama and his programs and less like a fair and balanced source of information the public needs to have. Further compounding this lethal formula is a Democratic Party, led by the Obama/Reid/Pelosi triumvirate that is a virtual rubber stamp of any program. And that party has adopted the Obama philosophy based on Rules for Radicals that says the ends justifies the means. In other words, anything goes. That’s why they are content to ignore the public’s views and the traditions and precedents of Congress, and jam through legislation that is not analyzed, debated, or even read. They are immoral, unprincipled zealots that put their agenda above that of the American people, American values, and the American Constitution.

So, it should be past the tipping point. We should be at the point when most Americans can say, “The Emperor has no clothes.” If Americans don’t stop this headlong rush to destroy America, there will soon be no America left to save. Now is the time. The citizens of this greatest nation on earth have to rise up, protest the Obama agenda, and stop it before it succeeds in transforming America into something our Founding Fathers of yesterday and our citizens of today would not even recognize.

We’ve had more than enough of Mr. Obama’s plans. And we have to start acting like we mean it. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country… and to stop Mr. Obama’s plans to destroy America, as we know it.

More on Obama from Game Change

This book by page 30 (where I am at) comes down pretty hard on Obama. Aside from today’s post, just a couple of pages later he describes how bored he was with the Senate. Excerpt:

The glacial pace, the endless procedural wrangling, the witless posturing and petifoggery, the geriatric cast of characters doddering around the place: all of it drove him nuts. To one friend in Chicago, Obama complained,

“It is basically the same as Springfield except the average age in Springfield is forty-two and in Washington it’s sixty-two. Other than that, it’s the same bullshit”.

After listening to Biden during a committee hearing, Obama passed a note to Gibbs that read “Shoot me now”.

Time and again after debates on the floor, he would emerge through the chamber’s double doors shaking his head, rolling his eyes, using both hands to give the universal symbol for the flapping of gums, sighing wearily, “Yak, yak, yak”.

My question: why has the media ignored, at least so far, this unflattering portrait of our President?

This , of course, reflects why he tramples the Constitution, congressional rules, traditions, engages in bullying and bribery, loopholes, etc. to push through his policies. Why should he care about other people or institutions (or checks and balances) because that is all so boring. No wonder he just cannot stop giving speeches and making appearances on television, in front of crowds, down Broadway-because that is …what’s fun?

Obama’s Alternate Universe

By Scott Ritter

January 13, 2010 “Truthdig” — As America enters the year 2010 and President Barack Obama his second year in office, the foreign policy landscape presented by American policymakers and media pundits appears to be dominated by two physical problems—Iraq and Afghanistan—which operate in an overarching metaphysical environment loosely defined as a “war on terror.” The ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, entering their seventh and ninth years respectively, have consumed America’s attention, treasure and blood without producing anything close to a tangible victory. What exactly constitutes the “war on terror” has never been adequately defined and, as a result, the United States has been, and continues to be, militarily involved in other regions as well, including Somalia, Kenya, the Philippines and, increasingly, Yemen. The American people today are fatigued, and while their political leadership promises to lead the nation out of the long, dark tunnel of conflict, there continues to be no light emerging in the distance, only the ever-darkening shadows of wars without end or purpose.

While Obama has promised a draw-down of military forces in Iraq, the lack of stability in that nation since the removal of Saddam Hussein precludes any meaningful reduction of troops, and the ever-present potential of renewed civil and sectarian warfare means that whatever troop level is eventually settled upon will be deployed in Iraq for quiet some time. Moreover, the Iraq conflict, built as it was on an American policy that sought the alteration of the political character of the Middle East beyond simply removing an Iraqi dictator from power, has drawn the United States inexorably toward conflict with Iraq’s larger neighbor to the east, Iran.

Over the past 20 years Iraq and Iran have been linked in American policy objectives in the Middle East, both in terms of dual containment and dual transformation. Regardless of what rhetoric the Obama administration chooses to hide behind, the underlying characteristic that continues to define America’s Iran policy is regime change. It is not the policy that is subject to debate in Washington, D.C., but rather the means of implementing that policy. The ongoing tension over Iran’s nuclear program is less derived from any real threat such a program poses (it is, in reality, one of the least significant issues facing the United States today in terms of national security concern), but rather the utility that such an artificial crisis serves in facilitating the larger objective: regime change.

Washington, USA – the nut job Cass Sunstein is officially a enemy of the internet. The man that wants to ban free speech online should be made war against according to the New York Post [2]

“Sunstein is an enemy to every news organization and blogger. We should return the favor and declare war on him.”

And as you can imagine we at FTO agree with the New York post. If this [3]does not set alarms off everywhere in the world where free speech is still cherished then we have some serious stressing to do.

We can not agree more, freedom of speech is the biggest hallmark of a free country and a free world. If Obama and his IT dictator wants to declare war on bloggers and news organizations then we should do the same by exposing them, this guy clearly is a criminal [4]and needs to be treated as such.

There is something seriously wrong with the execution of this nation’scode of military justice – it is being used against the very people it is meant to protect. Case in point: the imprisonment of an heroic Army officer for killing a murderous Iraqi insurgent who had killed two of his men in a cowardly attack that wounded 2 others. This case is reminiscent of the disgraceful prosecution of officers and enlisted United States Marines for having killed 24 Iraqis, among them armed terrorists, in a confrontation in Haditha which resulted in all charges being dropped in eight of the cases….

[Beck's] politics are libertarian. “I really kind of dig this whole freedom thing,” he says. “I’d like to pass it on to the kids.” But he is pessimistic about the prospects for doing so: “I’m a dad, and I no longer see a way for my kids to even inherit the money that I’m making, let alone go out there, have an idea, and create it in their own lifetime.”

Mr. Beck blames a political system that he describes as corrupt and out of touch, a sentiment that is widely shared: “People in Washington . . . not all of them, but a lot of them, are not men and women of honor anymore,” he says. “I just saw a poll today that said 25% of Americans now believe that their government officials will, for the most part, do the right thing. Only 25%. It’s the lowest number ever recorded.”

Mr. Beck appeals to a slice of the remaining 75% with a style that is earnest and emotional; he is known to cry on air. Although he has reported on some major news stories, including the scandals involving Acorn and former Obama aide Van Jones, he thinks of himself as a commentator and entertainer rather than a journalist. “I’m not interested in breaking news,” he tells me. “I’m interested in telling the story of what’s going on and then trying to figure it out.”

In doing so, Mr. Beck draws strong negative reactions for both his right-of-center views and his populist style. “Right now, I’m getting hammered by the left and the right, and I get hammered for being an opportunist,” he says.

In Evelyn Waugh’s novel “Scoop,” the best book on journalism ever written, Lord Copper, proprietor of the Daily Beast, is followed around by a flunkie who responds to every statement he makes. When Lord Copper says something that is true, the flunkie says, “Absolutely, Lord Copper.” When he says something that is false, the flunkie says, “Up to a point, Lord Copper.”

American politicians and public officials are not followed around by such aides. But the press and public opinion can and often do perform the function of Lord Copper’s flunkie.

Such has been the case in the Obama administration’s responses to the would-be Christmas bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab…

It has been argued by no less a polemicist than Michael Kinsley that the decision was right because Abdulmutallab was in the United States. But it was not his intention to enter the United States (except as body parts), nor did Customs admit him legally to the country.

Not surprisingly, Obama has avoided this issue in public. On Jan. 7, he asserted that “the buck stops with me” and said, “As president, I have a solemn responsibility to protect our nation and our people.”

Sounds good. But if you connect the dots, including the decision to give the Christmas bomber a lawyer and to allow him to clam up, the response has to be: Up to a point, Mr. President.

How To Kill Political Correctness Before It Kills Us
The Bulletin ^ | 1/16/2010 | Herb Denenberg

I’ve been doing consumer reports for over 34 years and, from my perspective, the No. 1 consumer issue is the sad state of the mainstream media.

It has become something other than a segment of the media, and now can be correctly described as a propaganda organ of a Democratic Party controlled executive branch of the U.S. Government. What’s worse, it is totally biased, dishonest, and fraudulent and can no longer be trusted to deliver the information needed by the American people. It pulled off the biggest fraud in electoral history by pushing the election of President Barack Obama, and is continuing to work hand-in-hand with the Obama administration in destroying America as we know it. That’s why this column has so often focused on the sad state of the mainstream media on which the proper functioning of our society depends.

Here’s a perfect illustration of what that mean in practice. One of the strongest supporters of Islamic terrorism is our mainstream media. That’s because its political correctness means that the mainstream media doesn’t give the public the truth about the threat of radical Islam (or whatever you want to call it – Islamic extremism, Islamic terrorism, hijacked Islam, jihadism, etc.). In other words, if we don’t kill political correctness, it will kill us by making us unaware of the ongoing war fought by radical Islam against the U.S. and the West. If you can’t even identify your enemy and be honest in describing your enemy, you are a dead duck. President Obama and his administration are among the foremost practitioners of political correctness, and that’s one of many reasons the Obama administration is a threat to the survival of America. The infection of political correctness is as widespread as it is dangerous, but this column will focus on political correctness in the mainstream media.

Health ‘reform’ vs. the Constitution

Although Democrats think their health-care legislation faces smooth sailing to implementation, there is a rock dead ahead — a constitutional challenge to the legislation’s core. Democrats who assume it is constitutional to make it mandatory for Americans to purchase health insurance should answer some questions:

Would it be constitutional for the government to legislate compulsory calisthenics for all Americans? If not, why not? If it would be, in what sense does the nation still have constitutional, meaning limited, government?

Supporters of the mandate say Congress can impose it under the enumerated power to regulate interstate commerce. Since the New Deal, courts have made this power capacious enough to include regulating intrastate activity that “substantially affects” interstate commerce. Hence Congress could constitutionally ban racial discrimination in “public accommodations” — restaurants, motels, etc. — as an impediment to interstate commercial activity.

Barack Obama is a bank robber. To his other honors and achievements, he now adds this. He is a thief, seizing assets in the name of the revolution. And thereby demonstrating how far we have fallen from the vainglorious boast of our anthem. “The home of the free,” we used to sing. “The home of the free,” we used to be.But that was a year ago and such notions as freedom and private property have all gone into the memory hole. Marx and the collective have overtaken Jefferson and the right of possession. And so it was that, without firing…

As of the beginning of this year 2010, the United States of America (USA) and its dwindling forebear, progenitor and mentor, the United Kingdom (UK), are not exactly bedded on roses. Internally, both countries have increasing population dishomogenisation problems, with the US gaining an influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico and other South American lands to support the forced reduction of
wages payable to homeland-bred labour, backed by the so-called ‘Department of Homeland Security’ as enforcers to quell internal dissent as basic rights are lost, public amenities turned over to corporate privatisation, and savings, pensions
and medical insurances handed over to the extremely wealthy. In the UK, great influx and boom of non-indigenous Muslim populations is slowly but inevitably eroding the self-styled ‘Christianity’ common to both countries that its bigoted hubris arrogated unto itself the right to conquer by force and pillage all weaker nations.

I was not impressed by Sen. Barack Obama after the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a wholesome presidential package. It is so instinctive for most people to want to see blacks succeed. It is as if all humanity is carrying a collective guilt for what the ancestors of blacks endured. However, despite my initial interest in him, I was soon put off, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor…

Ronald Reagan’s wisdom on the Middle East: LEAVE!
OC Register ^ | July 21, 2006 | John Seiler

Ronald Reagan is America’s most beloved president of recent years. We remember how he restored prosperity while ending the Cold War without getting us all nuked….

It’s worth looking back on Reagan’s policy on involving U.S. troops in the quarrels and hatreds of the Middle East. In 1983, he committed U.S. Marines to Lebanon. On Oct. 23, a terrorist truck bomb blew up the troops’ barracks, killing 220 Marines and 21 other troops.

At first, Reagan insisted that he wouldn’t cave in to the terrorist threat. Then he realized the best policy was to pull out the troops. Here’s how he explained it in his autobiography:

Perhaps we didn’t appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines’ safety that it should have.

In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believed the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today.

Reagan’s sensible policy — “neutral position and neutrality” — should be followed today…. And troops now in Iraq should be brought home immediately. Almost 2,600 have been killed in Iraq, 10 times the number killed in Lebanon when Reagan decided to leave.

BOSTON, MA – Next Tuesday’s Special Election for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts looks to be coming down to the wire. Surprising pundits in what had previously been thought to be a cakewalk for State Attorney General Martha Coakley, the Democratic candidate hoping to fill the seat of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, Republican state Senator Scott Brown has come on strong in the final days of the campaign. But as the election looms, tempers flare, money is poured into the contest from all sides, and Democrats sweat out what should have been a safe seat for them -…

What went wrong? A year ago, he was king of the world. Now President Obama’s approval rating, according to CBS, has dropped to 46 percent — and his disapproval rating is the highest ever recorded by Gallup at the beginning of an (elected) president’s second year. A year ago, he was leader of a liberal ascendancy that would last 40 years (James Carville). A year ago, conservatism was dead (Sam Tanenhaus). Now the race to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in bluest of blue Massachusetts is surprisingly close, with a virtually unknown state senator bursting on the scene by turning…

Ok, I just watched about two minutes of O’Reilly talking to Glenn Beck as both of them outsmarted themselves. Actually, they were both outsmarted by Sarah Palin. They thought they could suggest Palin was less than qualified for the presidency because she wasn’t specific enough in naming her favorite among the founding fathers. Both O’Reilly and Beck have been left in the dust by Palin, as many here would expect. Palin’s answer, showing a general regard for the ideas of the founding fathers rather than focusing on their individual personalities, is in fact consistent with John Adams’ idea that we…

By Victor Davis Hanson After Germany invaded Poland on Sept. 1, 1939, Great Britain and France sorta, kinda declared war on Germany. The formal declaration of war was real enough, but the allies’ initial responses were laughable.   Two days after Germany started to slaughter the Poles, Britain began conducting “truth raids,” which were to drop 6 million leaflets over Germany. These milk runs were supposedly aimed at “showing” the Germans that Britain someday might be able…

Dr. Sowell’s prophetic assessment of the dangers of Obama (this video was filmed back in 2008) has now been borne out by experience. Video Link

My name is Edgar J. Steele.

Life is funny.  Death isn’t.  Trust me on this one.  I died on November 21, 2009.

Ironically, just two weeks prior to my death I sent a message out to this list that said, in discussing my sabbatical from any sort of public speaking or appearance during the latter part of the year:  “It actually has grown kind of fun to watch the speculation over whether or not I died this summer.” It seemed amusing at the time.  Little did I know.

On November 21 I was sitting in my study, reading, when I felt a little “pop” in my chest.  I sat there for 15 minutes, fearing that I would pass out if I dared try to stand.  Finally, I staggered to my feet, got help and rushed to the local hospital emergency room, where I was quickly diagnosed with a condition serious enough to justify being “choppered” to the nearest cardiac specialty hospital unit.  In fact, they told me that I very likely would not live long enough to get there.  Fortunately, there just happened to be a helicopter parked on the roof at that very time.

The Haiti Earthquake – You Need To
Know Where It Came From

By Dick Eastman

1-15-10
I learned of the earthquake in Haiti yesterday evening when I entered my father’s house to go for our daily walk — he is 89. I saw Bill Clinton and asked my mother what was going on. Then I noticed that Stephanopolis — Clinton’s former Press Secretary was anchoring the news. Clearly this was a well-staged event. As the facts about the earthquake unfolded and how I saw the event was being spun so well for Obama — and Stephanopolis showed none of the emotions or spontaneity — and I saw how callous he was when he interviewed the Haitian president “On a personal level, this must be quite hard for you” — something close to that — what an astoundingly inappropriate thing to ask — but revealing so much — revealing that Stephanopolus, like Clinton who always refers to Americans as “ordinary citizens” — expects detachment from the tragic fate of the “ordinary people” – asking this president if he actually was really feeling something on such an occasion.
