The problem with writing a column about Glenn Beck is that everyone already has said everything about him. His story has been told, his politics dissected, his rhetoric debated, his personal life invaded and his net worth revealed. And it’s all been done to the point of redundancy.

And yet the Glenn Beck conversation thrives, especially in Mormon circles.

In an effort to take something of a sociological snapshot, I posted this question on my Facebook wall on Thursday: “What do you think of Glenn Beck?”

The Hawaii Department of Health continues to ignore and stonewall legitimate requests for information which under its UIPA law should be made available to a requester within ten days.

Mr. John Charlton, our Editor-in-Chief, has made three requests for such information from the Health Department beginning in early March which the Health Department either says it does not understand or to which it has failed to respond at all.

On February 26, 2010, Mr. Charlton published an article demonstrating the Health Department’s increasing reluctance to comply with UIPA requests. He had asked for copies of handwritten pages from the “Birth Index” maintained before Hawaii’s birth records were computerized and had offered to pay for the cost of obtaining them. Specifically, he was looking for anyone with the surnames Payne, Dunham, Soetoro and Obama.

With the events that have transpired over the last 58 days—since Obama and his adherents commandeered the US presidency—fear is now becoming the order of each and every day for many of We-the-People.  A couple of days ago, I wrote about only a few of the atrocities that had been committed in Obama’s first fifty-six days in office.

However, it is almost impossible to keep up with the actions of the Executive and Legislative branches of government that are turning our country that was once a shining city upon a hill and the model for all freedom-lovers into a repressive and fearful one; replete with detention centers for those who oppose the leftists and their secular messiah.

Congress and Obama are now involved in the biggest theft, possibly in world history, of the American people’s wealth in the history of the USA.  And it’s not over yet, folks.  “Elite-Package 2.0” (AKA another “stimulus bill”) will soon be on its way.  It is said to be over $1 TRILLION.  The Obama administration dictated and Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CN) wrote legislation to ensure that AIG executives receive bonuses that were made before 2/11/2009.  I think it pertinent to mention that Dodd received well over $223,000 from AIG in campaign donations and Obama received over $100,000.

Measured just by the number of victims, there is no close second place to government as the biggest lawbreaker. Measured in terms of impact, government lawbreaking is disabling our entire society.

When an individual or collection of individuals (such as a business) violates the law, there are victims who are harmed directly, and the law provides remedies. The law also recognizes that lawbreakers create harm to society as a whole, since the costs of lawbreaking are borne by society as well as by the direct victims. The law therefore exacts civil or criminal punishments on lawbreakers.

When government breaks the law, not just individuals, but entire industries are often the direct victims. Government lawbreakers, however, are not subject to the same standards as are individuals. Government lawbreakers have become arrogant, and government lawbreaking has therefore proliferated. If government were held to the same standards of legal sanctions for individuals, the weight of those punishments would actually crush government.

We’ve been discussing doctors presuming to advise patients on gun safety. We saw a standard form used by an HMO and a form we can give back to make them think twice about dispensing advice they are not qualified to provide.

It’s not surprising that the medical establishment reflects an anti-gun bias. Such sentiment has been expressed at the top levels for some time now.

The question was posed by a woman how identified herself as Joyce Ravis(sp) from Lake Wiley, South Carolina. Her question was, “In the economy times that we have now is it wise to decision to add more taxes to us with the health care because we are over taxed as it is now.”

President Soetoro stated that his intentions are to go throughout the land to clear up all of the misconception about his new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act but did he really think he had to do it in one fell swoop? The president left his pants on the ground with this 2500 word answer that spanned a full 17 minutes. He was looking and sounding like a… well you know.

I mean, I thought the most recent report we had was that 162,000 new jobs were created and the recovery was in full steam and we’re going to come back to glory, and now this? “The Labor Department said Thursday that first-time claims increased by 18,000 in the week ending April 3, to a seasonally adjusted 460,000. That’s worse than economists’ estimates of a drop to 435,000.” Of course, here comes the excuse, there’s always an excuse. “Easter can be difficult since the Easter holiday occurs in different weeks each year.” I’ll tell you, they’re brain-dead. Recently, I was listening to Gerald Celente on The Jeff Rense Program on the internet, and Gerald mentioned that the previous weekend in the State of Virginia, almost 7,000 traffic tickets were issued in ONE WEEKEND!

Townships and states all across the Union are feeling the pressure of this Depression, so they are turning to police to help raise money through vehicle or traffic citations. Towns are installing surveillance cameras at intersections to catch drivers cutting a fast yellow light, running a red, not coming to a full stop, not stopping behind the line, etc. A camera catches license plate numbers and a computer sends the ticket in the mail. Pretty soon they’ll just debit your checking account.

New Jersey, have lowered the speed limit on certain stretches of road, turning those roads into cash cows. I live very near one such road. Taunton Blvd in Medford, NJ has a 2-mile stretch that used to have 35-MPH posted. Now the speed limit is a crawl at 30-MPH. One morning around 9:15, I was sitting at the corner gas station at the intersection of Taunton Blvd and Tuckerton Rd and saw that the other three corners of the intersection had police cars with lights flashing like crazy while drivers were getting ticketed. The gas station owner said, “This has been going on since 7AM when I got here. One, right after another”

Last week, I entered Walter Reed Army Hospital to notify the Department of Defense that I would refuse to obey any orders from my commanding officers — including President Obama — until the president produces his original birth certificate. After nearly eighteen years of wearing the military uniform of the country I have proudly served, including overseas assignments in imminent danger/combat areas in Bosnia and Afghanistan, I felt compelled to take this step.

I made this decision from much deliberation, after lengthy consultations with many friends, family members, and colleagues, and I firmly believe that all servicemen and women, and the American public, have the right to know the truth about President Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve as Commander-in-Chief.

As military officers, we all take a solemn oath upon commissioning into the Uniformed Services. In this oath, we swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Upholding the law is an essential part of our role as citizens; in the military, we are the ultimate protectors of that law. The Constitution is our social compact, which safeguards all of us and ensures the “equal rights” that we are entitled to as American citizens.

Some of them thought it was all a gag, but I stood on the lectern and explained my system in detail, with the help of a big map of Chicago with all the local branches of the cafeteria marked on it. Social ecology! I split my recruits up into squads according to territory; one team would work the South Side for lunch, another the North Side for dinner, and so on. We got the system down to a science, and for six months all of us were eating free. Then the bastards brought in those serial machines at the door where you pull out a ticket that’s only good for that particular cafeteria. That was a low blow. We were the first victims of automation….

I suggested once that Barack Obama is naive when it comes to the American free enterprise system, but let’s just scratch that. The man really is trying to dismantle it and remake it in his own image — that of a law school professor who champions “public interest” work over the business of America, which is to say business itself.

This has been happening across America in academia where professors are gladly dismantling programs that teach, for example, law students how to be corporate lawyers and work in business in favor of training up an army of public interest liberals who sue the state in the name of progress to stop progress.

Barack Obama, coming from that culture, wants the nation to do the same. The Wall Street Journal is reporting the Obama administration is banning internships within private businesses.

Ponder that — Barack Obama is destroying another aspect of the free enterprise system.

If one group of people prefers government control and management of people’s lives and another prefers liberty and a desire to be left alone, should they be required to fight, antagonize one another, risk bloodshed and loss of life in order to impose their preferences or should they be able to peaceably part company and go their separate ways? The question is even more relevant today and Dr. Williams revisits it in a column . Whatever divide existed in 2000 has only widened today. The party in power has a different vision for America than the majority of Americans.

The uneasy schism existed since the founding of the country. Even some of the founders debated these issues. Initially, the schism was small and held in check by a functioning Constitution. Over time, the Constitution has been deprecated by politicians of both parties. Today, it is little more than a quaint artifact of history in the eyes of many politicians.

Many Americans feel strongly that the Constitution should be the controlling document to contain government.

Secession belongs to a different class of remedies. It is to be justified upon the basis that the States are Sovereign. There was a time when none denied it. I hope the time may come again, when a better comprehension of the theory of our Government, and the inalienable rights of the people of the States, will prevent any one from denying that each State is a Sovereign, and thus may reclaim the grants which it has made to any agent whomsoever.

In late January, I wrote about the Obama administration’s “presidential assassination program,” whereby American citizens are targeted for killings far away from any battlefield, based exclusively on unchecked accusations by the Executive Branch that they’re involved in Terrorism. At the time, The Washington Post’s Dana Priest had noted deep in a long article that Obama had continued Bush’s policy (which Bush never actually implemented) of having the Joint Chiefs of Staff compile “hit lists” of Americans, and Priest suggested that the American-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was on that list. The following week, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, acknowledged in Congressional testimony that the administration reserves the “right” to carry out such assassinations.

Rep Michele Bachmann…also suggested that the Obama administration could use the Census data for nefarious purposes — including the imprisonment of Americans in concentration camps…

Last week, Rep. Michele “I’m not a kook” Bachmann (R-MN) boasted about breaking the law in refusing to complete the 2010 Census. The Census is the perfect boogeyman for Bachmann in that it unites her conspiracy theoriesabout the Obama administration with her monomaniacal determination to crush the community organizing group ACORN, which is one of over 30,000 partner organizations helping to promote the 2010 Census among the people it reaches.

On Fox News this morning, Bachmann repeated her determination to break the law. She also suggested that the Obama administration could use the Census data for nefarious purposes — including the imprisonment of Americans in concentration camps:

BACHMANN: If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the census bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations, at the request of President Roosevelt, and that’s how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps. I’m not saying that’s what the Administration is planning to do. But I am saying that private, personal information that was given to the census bureau in the 1940s was used against Americans to round them up.

The Wall Street Journal has a great interactive graphic that sums up the quakes we’ve had so far in 2010. It shows that we’ve had 18 major earthquakes ranging from 4.0 to 8.8 on the Richter scale. The very recent Baja, California quake was 7.7.

In some places we been fortunate enough to see little damage, yet others are still suffering the economic consequences, such as in Haiti and to a far lesser extent Mexico and the U.S. right now.

Gov. Robert F. McDonnell, reviving a controversy that had been dormant for eight years, has declared that April will be Confederate History Month in Virginia, a move that angered civil rights leaders Tuesday but that political observers said would strengthen his position with his conservative base.

The two previous Democratic governors had refused to issue the mostly symbolic proclamation honoring the soldiers who fought for the South in the Civil War. McDonnell (R) revived a practice started by Republican governor George Allen in 1997. McDonnell left out anti-slavery language that Allen’s successor, James S. Gilmore III (R), had included in his proclamation.

McDonnell said Tuesday that the move was designed to promote tourism in the state, which next year will mark the 150th anniversary of the start of the war. McDonnell said he did not include a reference to slavery because “there were any number of aspects to that conflict between the states. Obviously, it involved slavery. It involved other issues. But I focused on the ones I thought were most significant for Virginia.”

The president’s new nuclear weapons policy is just the latest (should we call it “Jimmy-Cartesian”?) indication that he is determined to hasten the country’s decline, writes Tunku Varadarajan. Consider me unimpressed. Barack Obama’s ballyhooed “Nuclear Posture Review” has turned out, in truth, to be more “posture” than “review.” As has been pointed out by a prominent parser of all things nuclear, the new policy actually changes very little: We weren’t going to nuke Brazil before the review and we’re still asserting the right to nuke North Korea if we need to. Yesterday’s Glenn Beck program was intended by Beck to be a response of sorts to last week’s display of extreme insecurity by President Obama, insecurity which saw Obama go on the attack against Beck and Rush Limbaugh and deny that he was a socialist (snicker, snicker). And respond in kind he did, making the case that Americans should pity Obama, pity Obama because based on the childhood he led, according to Beck, “This kid never had a chance!” This is mainly because as a young child, both of Obama’s parents—the womanizing father who died a poor drunk, as well as the mother who potentially practiced Critical Theory—abandoned little Barack in favor of Marxist Theory. A chilling Russian Space Forces (VKS) report prepared for Prime Minister Putin is warning today the United States is in the process of constructing at least 300 massive “death camps” in 11 of their Western States secret documents had previously revealed President Obama’s Department of the Interior was preparing to take over in a massive 13-million acre land grab against his own people.

VKS satellites had been tasked with overseeing this vast area of the United States after Obama had ordered all of these 13 million acres not to be flown over by aircraft or trespassed upon under threat of life imprisonment.

These reports further state that the US Northern American Command has been put in charge of this “death camp” project and in their largest logistical deployment since World War II are moving massive amounts of equipment from their war zones to America in preparation for “relocating” nearly 30 million of their citizens into them over the next 3 years.

The recent passage of the so-called ‘health care reform’ bill signals the demise of the U.S. Constitution and the end of our healthcare freedom. Yet, we have heard nothing more than a whimper from the American people. Most don’t seem to care or if they do care, they do not care enough to do anything about it. Many have resigned to this fate, perceiving it as inevitable.

After the bill’s passage, what sort of healthcare do we have to look forward to?

This bill, according to New York Times Economics Columnist Paul Krugman, will create an ‘advisory panel’ that will restrict treatment options offered to regular Americans in order to cut costs. He said the following on the ABC News Sunday program “This Week”:

The advisory panel which has the ability to make more or less binding judgments on saying this particular expensive treatment actually doesn’t do any good medically and so we are not going to pay for it.

As a Canadian, I’ve been observing for some time now, with great concern and even greater disbelief, the political farce enacted day after day in your country. And I keep asking, what have you done? For it seems to me, and to many others as well, that you have embarked upon a truly destructive course that may eventually bring the United States to the brink of ruination.

What have you done? You have elected a president on the strength of an ellipsis, neglecting to fill in the three dots trailing after his every echoing jingle—“Yes we can”…what? You have credited a nimble spinner of tales, a pretty fellow with no significant experience of the real world of risk, hard work and the hazards of survival, a thug with a beguiling smile. You have elevated to the highest office in the land a man without discernible qualifications who is plunging the nation into unredeemable debt for generations to come. You have installed possibly the most consummate liar in POTUS history, who breaks campaign promises as if he were cracking eggs for the skillet and changes his mind almost daily like a weathervane on steroids. You have put your trust in an intellectual lightweight and geopolitical bungler who makes Jimmy Carter look like a paragon of acute intelligence, moral substance and rare diplomatic foresight.

Once again, Barack Obama proves conclusively that, regardless of where he was born, he is not an American!

During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama made it perfectly clear that the use of disproportionate force was sometimes necessary to defend one’s self.

Of course, he was referring to Republicans challenging his presidential aspirations and other delusions of grandeur.

Judge Andrew Napolitano opens his new book, Lies the Government Told You, with that quote, and that’s the book’s theme: the State is our enemy because it constantly lies, steals, and kills.

That’s a pretty radical idea, so this is a radical book.

This is not a book about “public policy,” about how we might limit the rate of government’s growth, or about how to “reform” this or that program. It’s not really even about “getting back to the Constitution.”

How principled is Napolitano here?

Take eminent domain. Even some libertarians decry “eminent-domain abuse” and complain about government taking property for purposes that aren’t a “public use” as the Constitution supposedly requires – as though taking people’s property by force for some purposes might be okay.

Judge Napolitano will have none of that. He writes that the concept of private property inherently entails “the right to exclude [others] . . . even the right to exclude the government.” So instead of wanting to curb the “abuses” or condoning eminent domain in some cases, Napolitano says abolish eminent domain.

In his new interview with CBS, President Obama refers to the “troublesome” talk and “vitriol” of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. “Keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out,” Obama says. “It happens often when you’ve got an economy that is making people more anxious, and people are feeling like there is a lot of change that needs to take place. But that’s not the vast majority of Americans. I think the vast majority of Americans know that we’re trying hard, that I want what’s best for the country.”

I asked Limbaugh what he thought about the president’s comments. His program’s popularity is undeniably soaring now, but has it risen and fallen with economic anxiety — that is, was he less popular during times of economic security and more popular in times of economic worries? Since Limbaugh has been broadcasting nationally for more than 20 years, there ought to be some sort of pattern, if what Obama says is accurate.

“I have yet to have a down year at the EIB Network,” Limbaugh responds. “I and most Americans do not believe President Obama is trying to do what’s best for the country. Never in my life have I seen a regime like this, governing against the will of the people, purposely. I have never seen the media so supportive of a regime amassing so much power. And I have never known as many people who literally fear for the future of the country.”

“Whether citizens of a state have the right to recall from office a sitting U.S. senator is no longer an academic question. The second-highest New Jersey appeals court has just ruled that such an effort can proceed against Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ).

“Several other states have provisions in their state constitutions and laws that may also allow recall efforts. And by the common provision of initiative by the people of state laws and constitutions, similar processes could be established in other states.

“So the question that has never been raised in the U.S. Supreme Court before will most likely be decided there within the next year.

“This column is not a legal brief — just a summary of main points. With that said, this lawyer, whose eighteen briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court have been mostly on election law, believes that the answer is yes — recall is constitutional.”

Sooner or later, it will have to be the American people themselves
that decide to put a stop to this out-of-control government
arrogance. Perhaps the sentiments of the late Lyn Nofziger will be
helpful at this point.

You will recall that Mr. Nofziger served as press secretary in Ronald
Reagan’s administration as Governor of California and as a White
House advisor during the Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan
presidencies. Shortly before he passed away, he composed a short
treatise entitled “These Things I Believe.” Here it is:

These things I believe:
That government should butt out.
That freedom is our most precious commodity and if we are not eternally vigilant, government will take it all away.
That individual freedom demands individual responsibility.
That government is not a necessary good but an unavoidable evil.
That the executive branch has grown too strong, the judicial branch too arrogant and the legislative branch too stupid.
That political parties have become close to meaningless.
That government should work to insure the rights of the individual, not plot to take them away.
That government should provide for the national defense and work to insure domestic tranquillity.
That foreign trade should be fair rather than free.
That America should be wary of foreign entanglements.
That the tree of liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That guns do more than protect us from criminals; more importantly, they protect us from the ongoing threat of government.
That states are the bulwark of our freedom.
That states should have the right to secede from the Union.
That once a year we should hang someone in government as an example to his fellows.

I’m excited I stumbled over Richard Wolffe’s article, “When Barry Became Barack,” Newsweek, March 31, 2008. This piece covers the period around when I first met the young Barack Obama, during his sophomore year at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

My review of this article is particularly relevant right now because of Glenn Beck’s assertion – earlier this month – that “social justice” is basically a code word for Marxist socialist ideology, even when it is used in a church setting. Understanding the role of “social justice” as a code word for something a lot more sinister certainly helps us make better sense of the new information released in Wolffe’s article.

Wolffe points out, for example, that young Obama immediately dove in to the social circles of the “progressive” students. He writes:

“Barry Obama met Eric Moore fresh on arrival from Hawaii at Occidental College in Los Angeles. The two roamed in the same circles, gravitating toward friends who considered themselves “progressive,” including many with international backgrounds.”
