Here’s the problem I have with Oil Rig explosion.

Sorry for the vanity, but maybe some of you can help me on this…

“There was an explosion”. It’s pretty difficult to get a substance, particularly a gas, to explode unless it is confined in a pressure vessel. Hell, even gunpowder will not explode if you light it with a match unless it’s confined. Certainly not oil or gas or even hydrogen. It just burns.

Certainly their describing this as an explosion, but maybe that’s just semantics. Has there been a good description of what actually took place?

The boyz at Hillbuzz have an intriguing take on the resurrection of the Vera Baker speculation. We never believed Obama had an affair with a woman, because Obama does not appear to like women.

Who’s pushing the Baker business now, and why? Is there a himbo eruption coming for the White House, so they want to preemptively start rumors the current president is such a stud he’s bedding down a woman like Baker?

Obama Says He’s Troubled by Anti-Government Rhetoric

President Obama said Saturday he’s troubled by the angry rhetoric of those who are trying to make the case that government is “inherently bad.”

He told graduates at the University of Michigan that people who take that line of attack seem to forget that in a democracy, “government is us.”

Obama also said in his commencement speech that members of the class of 2010 should seek out and listen to opposing views on the issues of the day.

His advice: If you’re a regular Glenn Beck listener, then check out the Huffington Post sometimes. If you read The New York Times editorial page the morning, then glance every now and then at The Wall Street Journal.

He said that may “make your blood boil,” but it’s an essential part of being an effective and informed citizen.

Helen Thomas simply longs for the days when reporters and pundits could report spin, lies and opinion as fact and were never held accountable outside of page A-16 retractions.

The new media’s finest moment came when in 2004 CBS’s Dan Rather attempted to influence a national election (much like his predecessor Walter Cronkite did with the Vietnam War after the Tet Offensive), but unlike then, now there is a new media filled with grassroots activists who were going to hold the old media accountable and one of those activists on the Conservative Site Free-Republic under the handle “Buckhead,” was able to expose Rather’s “official documents” concerning Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard as forgeries. Rather eventually lost his job as a result.

ObamaCare Contains Crippling Changes to Tax Code
The New American ^ | 30 April 2010 | Joe Wolverton, II

Posted on Saturday, May 01, 2010 12:25:35 PM by K-oneTexas

The existence of the ObamaCare provision that forces every American, regardless of income, ability or personal preference to purchase a qualifying health insurance policy has been well reported, little attention has been paid to a similar mandate that will be far more wide-reaching, far costlier, and far more destructive to the attempts by hard-working Americans to protect their wealth.

The provision in question comes in the form of a few seemingly minor alterations to the tax code, specifically Section 6041 dealing with the reporting of income on Form 1099. The newly enacted amendments force business owners to send out millions of additional 1099s every year. This furtive federal mandate will force feed new regulations down the throats of businesses already choking on voluminous tax regulations.

As the law read prior to enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. ObamaCare), businesses were required to distribute 1099s under very particular set of circumstances, most notably when paying a vendor or consultant. Under the ObamaCare scheme, however, the requirements for information gathering and reporting are expanded exponentially, feeding the never satiated Congressional appetite for income and information from citizens.

The news firm, Thompson Reuters recently published the following summary of the new tax law as promulgated under ObamaCare:

The 2010 Health Care Act adds “amounts in consideration for property” (Code Sec. 6041(a) as amended by 2010 Health Care Act §9006(b)(1)) and “gross proceeds” (Code Sec. 6041(a) as amended by 2010 Health Care Act §9006(b)(2)) to the pre-2010 Health Care Act categories of payments for which an information return to IRS will be required if the $600 aggregate payment threshold is met in a tax year for any one payee.

That is to say, for any payments made after 2011, the definition is changed and the payments triggering the issuance of Form 1099 will include gross proceeds paid in consideration of property and services, a substantial change to the current regulations.

President Obama praised government during his commencement address at the Unniversity of Michigan in Ann Arbor. “Government is what ensures that mines adhere to safety standards and that oil spills are cleaned up by the companies that caused them,” he said. “We’ve also clearly seen the dangers of too little government, like when a lack accountability on Wall Street nearly leads to the collapse of our entire economy,” Obama added.

Oil Spill a Catastrophe of Monumental Proportions: Is It Sabotage?

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a catastrophe of historic dimensions,  The oil slick we see on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico is just the tip of the iceberg.

Thousands of barrels of oil are spewing into the waters off of Louisiana, and nobody is “turning the spigot off.”  Because the “spigot” is 5,000 feet underwater, turning it off is a hazardous, uncertain enterprise.

Nationalized the banks and the car companies, Nationalized the entire health care industry, Taken control of all American land

And it came to pass, on the 4th day of November, in the year of Our Lord 2008, a cabal of devious con men were elevated to power over all the people. Behind closed doors, under the cover of night and the veil of deceit, aided and abetted by a willing majority in a spineless Congress, most of academia and the lion’s share of the news media, they plotted the overthrow of a once-free America, from within.

Using the crises of a faltering economy, rising health care costs and the myth that is man-caused global warming, they put the wheels of their scheme into motion.

First, they nationalized the banks and the car companies.

Second, they nationalized the entire health care industry.

Third, they had already taken control of all American land, public and private, through the implementation of the United Nations’ Agenda 21 policy of social justice and radical environmental protection. Constitutionally protected property rights are now meaningless.

Fourth, they plan to put a stranglehold on industry and nationalize the means of energy exploration and production through the scam of buying and selling puffs of air containing carbon dioxide (CO2), using the so-called Cap and Trade legislation. The vehicle for this massive theft of our energy and our wealth, will be by criminal racketeering under the dubious name of the Chicago Climate Exchange. Costs of just about everything will skyrocket.

Fifth, in their quest for absolute power, they mean to grant amnesty to illegal aliens,

… Finally, to complete their plan, they will be putting in place draconian regulations to bring Wall Street to its knees.

Their plan is almost complete.

Or would Puerto Rico be the 58th state? In any case, the House has voted and now the issue of Puerto Rican statehood is in the hands of Puerto Rico:

For our consideration, Puerto Rico’s unemployment rate is about 15.9% and 45% of its citizens live below the poverty level — so statehood for Puerto Rico would basically be like adopting another Michigan. If we’re hell bent to adopt another country, how about Singapore or New Zealand?

For some, statehood for Puerto Rico simply boils down to — you guessed it — “benefits”:

The president is going to come out with a statement mark my words before the election: Look, I didn’t want to take on immigration; I had no choice. He is positioning himself in the place that I said after immigration reform, you knew he was a radical or I’m sorry, after healthcare reform, you knew he was a radical because he was just punching you in the face and punching you in the face. Why would you take on another divisive issue? Well, now he is going to be able to say, “Oh, no, I didn’t want to, I I mean, I didn’t want to get into this divisive issue, but I had to. I had to.” He said he’s not happy with Arizona’s new law because, well, when we start having local law enforcement officials empowered to stop people on the suspicion that they may be undocumented workers, that violates our core values that we all care about. Excuse me. It’s clear. It’s in the law. You cannot do that. You cannot stop someone on suspicion of being an undocumented worker. Can’t.

Don’t believe Leftist media lies: Here’s what’s really in Arizona’s new anti illegal alien law
The Collins Report ^ | May 1, 2010 | Kevin “Coach” Collins

Between 2000 and 2008 the illegal population of Arizona grew from 330,000 to 560,000.

In 2008 the state began to take up the matter of illegals itself and passed some laws to combat the problem. After one year their number dropped 18% while the national decrease was 7 percent, proving state enforcement efforts work to improve..

Based on arrest records, twenty two percent of Maricopa County’s felonious crimes are committed by illegal aliens, more than twice their estimated population within the county.

Although illegal aliens make up an estimated 8% of Arizona’s population, 11% of state prison inmates are illegals.

Approximately 17 percent of arrestees apprehended by the Boarder Patrol in its Tucson Sector have criminal records.

The most recent measurements say 12 percent of all workers in Arizona are illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens in Arizona comprise 20% of those living in poverty, 33% of the medically uninsured and 18% of school children.

One third of all illegal alien households in Arizona are supported by some sort of welfare program and 50% of children in an illegal alien household are receiving some kind of taxpayer benefit.

The new Arizona illegal alien control law is supported by 70 percent of voters according to a new Rasmussen poll.

What’s in the law?

The new law mirrors federal law which requires aliens to register and curry their documents (8 USC 1304(e) and 8 USC 1306(a)). Arizona has only stated that it now considers a violation of these provisions within its boarders to henceforth be a violation of state laws.

Because of the way its language was constructed, the law does not conflict with federal laws, rather it merely supports federal laws.

Police can only ask.. incidental to a “lawful contact” … traffic stop.

The Militia On Chicago’s Streets? Look At History By Ralph E. Shaffer

The Militia On Chicago’s Streets? Look At History

By Ralph E. Shaffer

Before Illinois officials respond to Democratic state Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford’s call for National Guard units to patrol the streets of Chicago, they’d better give it deep thought.

Military intervention by the Guard, its militia predecessors and the U.S. Army during American domestic crises has left a bloody record.
If Chicagoans remember their history, they will reject the deployment of any military force in their city, whether it be the National Guard or the Army.

American history is replete with examples of bloodshed accompanying the use of military force against its own people. Even before formal creation of the National Guard, state militias performed a similar function. Ford and Fritchey ought to be familiar with the carnage that resulted from military intervention in Chicago during the two great railway strikes of the late 19th century.

Noam Chomsky, a self-declared socialist, once said, “Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the US [mainstream] media.” Never would he have imagined that his critique would apply more than ever to the present-day relationship between the mainstream media and President Obama.

This march to the media’s present role of being in league with the Obama administration is the culmination of the good-versus-evil narrative of modern journalism. The process of determining who are the righteous and who are the villains began almost half a century ago.

Arizona Grades Teachers on Fluency (Teachers Deemed Heavily Accented, Ungrammatical Ordered Removed)
Wall Street Journal ^ | April 30, 2010 | Miriam Jordan

As the academic year winds down, Creighton School Principal Rosemary Agneessens faces a wrenching decision: what to do with veteran teachers whom the state education department says don’t speak English well enough.

The Arizona Department of Education recently began telling school districts that teachers whose spoken English it deems to be heavily accented or ungrammatical must be removed from classes for students still learning English.

State education officials say the move is intended to ensure that students with limited English have teachers who speak the language flawlessly. But some school principals and administrators say the department is imposing arbitrary fluency standards that could undermine students by thinning the ranks of experienced educators.

The teacher controversy comes amid an increasingly tense debate over immigration. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer this month signed the nation’s toughest law to crack down on illegal immigrants. Critics charge that the broader political climate has emboldened state education officials to target immigrant teachers at a time when a budget crisis has forced layoffs.

“This is just one more indication of the incredible anti-immigrant sentiment in the state,” said Bruce Merrill, a professor emeritus at Arizona State University who conducts public-opinion research.

Margaret Dugan, deputy superintendent of the state’s schools, disagreed, saying that critics were “politicizing the educational environment.”

In the 1990s, Arizona hired hundreds of teachers whose first language was Spanish as part of a broad bilingual-education program. Many were recruited from Latin America.

What’s Hidden in the Dodd Bill
April 30, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Some interesting things are being gleaned from the financial regulatory reform bill. The Washington Times has an editorial today, and I’m waiting for the liberals in this country, when they find out about this, to start screaming fascist like they did at Bush over the Patriot Act. Remember, they hated Bush because they were going to spy on them, they’re gonna monitor their phone calls out there. Why, why, that’s a civil rights violation, human rights violation, fascism, they were just in sheer panic. “The next time you make a withdrawal from an automated teller machine, Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner might be watching over your shoulder. Boosted by the sweeping, 1,400-page financial regulatory proposal currently making its way through the Senate, Mr. Geithner would have unprecedented, real-time access to a wealth of personal and corporate financial data — all in the name of protecting the public.” This is the Chris Dodd legislation.

“It would create the innocuously named Office of Financial Research as a central repository for transaction-related records held by financial companies. According to proponents, ‘decision-makers’ like Mr. Geithner need up-to-the-minute information to act in order to prevent what they refer to as another Wall Street meltdown. The proposed agency would also provide statistical analysis and research, purportedly to monitor systemic risk to the financial system. The idea raises a number of red flags, not least of which is the plan’s fundamentally flawed premise that a central committee of unelected bureaucrats would be qualified to judge what’s right and what’s wrong for the economy. … Yet the details of the proposal show that this new agency’s mission is not meant to be limited to improving the quality of financial data. Mr. Dodd’s legislation would grant the agency director the coercive power of subpoena to obtain records and rulemaking authority to force private-sector firms to maintain their internal financial records in a format acceptable to the government. The legislation also grants sweeping authority to maintain a data center that would collect and maintain ‘all data necessary’ to carry out the director’s wishes.”

Judge won’t subpoena Obama in Blagojevich corruption trial
NY Post ^ | April 30, 2010 | NEWSCORE

The judge overseeing the corruption case against former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich denied a motion from Blagojevich’s defense team to issue a subpoena for the testimony of President Barack Obama, The Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

U.S. District Judge James Zagel said the defense motion fell “very short” of demonstrating a need to subpoena the president, according to the Tribune.

The defense team moved earlier this month to issue the subpoena, saying it had not received the FBI reports it requested on Obama’s interview with investigators in the case.

Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell the Senate seat that was vacated when Obama was elected president. Obama is not accused of any wrongdoing.

The defense team said Obama had “direct knowledge” of the allegations against Blagojevich and claimed the president’s “public statements contradict other witness statements.”

Blagojevich is scheduled to go to trial on June 3.
