At the appropriate moment, the Commandant of the Marine Corps walked with dignity to the lectern and recited the moving words of Jesus, as recorded in the tenth chapter of Saint John’s Gospel, beginning at the eleventh verse … ironically, the same reading he had chosen several weeks before, excerpts of which are printed here:”He who enters by the door is the shepherdof the sheep.

To him the gatekeeper opens;the sheep hear his voice, and he calls hisown sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, hegoes before them, and the sheep followhim, for they know his voice. A strangerthey will not follow, but they will flee fromhim, for they do not know the voice ofstrangers. I am the good shepherd. Thegood shepherd lays down his life for thesheep. He who is a hireling and not ashepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheepand flees … He flees because he is ahireling and cares nothing for the sheep.I am the good shepherd; I know my ownand my own know me …”

Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.

I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers, and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful? For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.

“Then there are the wolves,” the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.” Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial. “Then there are sheepdogs,” he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.”

Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Chessani: A Marine For The Ages

July 31, 2010 1 comment

After an incendiary and false Time magazine feature on the incident several months later, many in the media were calling for the heads of all Marines involved, including Lt. Col. Chessani. Eight Marines were charged with murder or failure to investigate. The unfounded charges were dropped or dismissed against six of the accused, and one was acquitted. Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich still faces reduced charges and is due in court in September.

The Bulletin condemns the government’s prosecution of Lt. Col. Chessani. His superior officers called him “Truly one of the finer thinkers of this COIN [counterinsurgency] environment.” His Reviewing Officer, Major General Huck, called him a “Top notch officer with outstanding potential” and stated that Lt. Col. Chessani had “Unlimited potential and value to the Marine Corps,” adding that he was “Capable of the most challenging assignments.” Major General Huck also recommended Chessani’s promotion to Colonel and attendance at a Top Level School.

Lt. Col. Chessani wasn’t an average Marine. Our nation lost a superb leader, decorated combat veteran, and patriot who stood by his fellow Marines in the courtroom and on the battlefield. It is an egregious effrontery that his service to the U.S. Marine Corps for twenty-three years would unceremoniously come to an end as a political scapegoat. All this has done is weakened our country and dishonored a good man and a great Marine.

The Democrats’ War On the American West

July 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Several House Democrats have actively lobbied to boycott Arizona and crush its economy — most notably, southern Arizona’s own Rep. Raúl Grijalva, who urged civic, religious, and political groups to take their convention dollars elsewhere.“Do not do business with this state,” Grijalva told open-borders zealots bent on punishing law-abiding citizens in order to “send a message.”For its part, the Obama Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has targeted Joe Arpaio, sheriff of Maricopa County, Ariz., for more than a year over his strict enforcement policies against illegal-alien criminals.

The Civil Rights Division is helmed by veteran illegal-immigration advocate Thomas Perez, who has lobbied for driver’s licenses, in-state tuition discounts and blanket amnesty for millions of border-jumpers, visa overstayers, and deportation fugitives.Arizona’s neighbor to the north, Utah, is under fire by a different set of left-wing bureaucrats. When Interior Secretary Ken Salazar isn’t busy destroying jobs through his radical offshore-drilling moratorium, he has been blocking onshore development and wreaking havoc on the Beehive State’s energy industry.

The Political Cesspool: The Line Has Been Drawn In Arizona

July 31, 2010 Leave a comment
You no doubt recognize the words of Ben Franklin in response to the
question, “what kind of government have you given us?”
Well, we couldn’t keep it. Killed by the icons of the left – Lincoln, Wilson, FDR,
our vaunted Republic exists only in name – which a majority of Americans can
probably no longer spell, if they even know the word.
(Interesting how the true “American idols” are always the most destructive
people in our history. If that doesn’t tell you all you need to know about
the leftist soul, you are beyond hope.)
This week we’ll be discussing the latest heavy handed blow to the myth of
self government. The ruling against the Arizona immigration law by a
Federal judge.
You can read about it here:
Tune in tonight as we cover this topic in depth.
See you then.

Be afraid. Be very afraid! ^ | 07/31/2010 | Roger E. SkoffPosted on Saturday, July 31, 2010 1:06:10 PM by In Bold Colors

Under the Constitution, the principal purpose of dividing power was that no one branch of the government could act without at least the tacit approval of both of the others. The Presidency and its Administration could enforce laws, but could neither create them, allocate money to pay for them, nor give them legal sanction. And the Courts could rule on the legality of the laws, but could neither write new laws nor effect, enforce nor pay for any action of their own, That’s the way it was. Now, Obama has made everything different. Since….Excerpt Read more at …

‘Undead Zombie Option’ resurrected in Congress

July 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Like the gauze-wrapped creatures who just won’t stay dead in those late-night movies you’re too tired to turn off, the “public option” has returned to Washington. An analysis by Investor’s Business Daily, which called it the “Zombie Option,” said the idea – rejected in debate over the health-care plan signed into law earlier this year – is being promoted yet again as a way to save the government money.

Democratic Reps. Lynn Woolsey and Pete Stark of California and Jan Schakowsky of Illinois have joined to put together the newest proposal, called the “public option act.”

Ilario Pantano, NC District Seven: Change of ServiceNational Review Online ^ | 19 July, ’10 | John J. MillerPosted on Saturday, July 31, 2010 11:19:11 AM by 4buttons

If North Carolina’s Pantano wins in November, he will owe his victory in large measure to his identity as a Marine.

Pantano’s story is simply remarkable. After attending an expensive New York prep school on scholarship, he astonished his teachers and classmates by deciding to enlist in the Marines rather than go to college. He went to sniper school and took part in the first Gulf War. At the end of his four years in 1993, he enrolled at New York University. After graduation, Pantano took a job at Goldman Sachs and later started his own consulting business. His future looked bright. On the morning of 9/11, however, Pantano was on the streets of Manhattan when the terrorists struck. “I saw the Towers burn,” he says. “I knew we were at war.” Hours later, he went to a barbershop and ordered a “high and tight” — i.e., a military buzz cut.

Then, at the age of 30, he rejoined the Marines. This time he went to officer school and received a commission as a second lieutenant.Excerpt Read more at …

ONLY the US Supreme Court has Constitutional Authority to Conduct the Trial

July 31, 2010 Leave a comment

By Publius Huldah Thursday, July 29, 2010

Does anyone read the U.S. Constitution these days? American lawyers don’t read it. Federal Judge Susan R. Bolton apparently has never read it. Same goes for our illustrious Attorney General Eric Holder. But this lawyer has read it and she is going to show you something in Our Constitution which is as plain as the nose on your face.Article III, Sec. 2, clause 2 says:

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction…“Original” jurisdiction means the power to conduct the “trial” of the case as opposed to hearing an appeal from the judgment of a lower court. You all know quite well what a “trial” is – you see them all the time on TV shows: Perry Mason, Boston Legal, The Good Wife, etc. Witnesses testify and are cross-examined, etc.The style of the Arizona case shows quite clearly that the named defendants are: State of Arizona; and Janice K. Brewer, Governor of the State of Arizona, in her Official Capacity, Defendants.Judge Susan R. Bolton has no more authority to preside over this case than do youSee where it says, “State of Arizona”? And “Janice K. Brewer, Governor of the State of Arizona, in her official Capacity”? THAT plus Art. III, Sec. 2, clause 2 is what gives the US Supreme Court “original Jurisdiction”, i.e., jurisdiction to conduct the trial of this case.

THAT is what strips the federal district court of any jurisdiction whatsoever to hear this case. Judge Susan R. Bolton has no more authority to preside over this case than do you unless you are a US Supreme Court justice.

The grocery store, along with your kitchen sink, are two of the most dangerous places in the world. In a special video, Alex Jones addresses one of the darkest modes of power the globalists have used to control the population– food. The new tea party bible By: Kenneth P. Vogel July 31, 2010 07:05 AM EDT

“Rules for Radicals,” the iconic liberal organizing manifesto by Saul Alinsky, was an unlikely bible for tea party activists as they tried to mobilize their movement last year. And now, as they struggle to demonstrate their impact and staying power, they have another unlikely book to live by — a kind of management guide written by a couple of Stanford M.B.A.s that extols the virtues of decentralization.

The book, “The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations,” has a thesis with understandable attraction for tea partiers — that poorly funded groups and companies loosely organized around basic shared ideas can change society, often by outmaneuvering governments or mega-corporations.

Chuck Baldwin — Are We Headed For Jericho?

July 31, 2010 2 comments

By Pastor Chuck BaldwinMarch 28,

A friend recently turned me on to the CBS television series, Jericho. I watch so little network television that I confess to never having seen the show before this week. Obviously, then, I am quite uninformed as to the overall plot and previous episodes. What I saw Tuesday evening, however, stunned me.

Why? Because it very aptly depicted what could become a very real-life scenario for these United States in the not-so-distant future. If I accurately picked up the basic plot of the show, average, freedom-loving citizens in the Western U.S. are fighting against tyrannical elements of their own government, including military forces. The State of Texas has declared its independence from the corrupt new government and another civil war is breaking out in America. And all this was predicated upon a nuclear attack, which some believed was an inside job. Am I close?Contributing further to my amazement was the way Jericho used real-life political events to depict America’s fall into tyranny.

I was flabbergasted to see the characters of Jericho refer to the Continuity of Government act as the foundation for the government’s declaration of martial law after the nuclear attack had occurred.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Continuity of Government COG act is not television make-believe: it is the real deal.
