The aerial photograph does not lie. Glenn Beck‘s Restoring Honor Rally drew just about as many people as any other rally ever held at the Lincoln Memorial.I took the train into town from home in Northern Virginia, packed in like in those Tokyo subway video clips, even though I was late. I marched down to the Memorial from the nearest subway stop at Foggy Bottom, where the D.C. bureaucrats had helpfully disabled the steep escalators from the underground tubes to greet the half a million or more celebrants of liberty on the way in.
From my perspective on the ground, arriving late at about 11:15 the rally started at 10, I could never get close enough to the podium even to see. But I could hear. And that was all I needed.On his radio and TV shows, Beck has emphasized economics, political history, and near libertarian political philosophy. He has previously indicated his personal belief in God. But in this speech, he revealed a vision that encompasses the whole Reagan coalition from 1980.
Beck tutored me once again with his insight that the founders grew up in an America where the evangelist George Whitefield crisscrossed the colonies inspiring a national religious revival, that they probably personally heard or read Whitefield sermons, and that this foundation informed their work in later founding America…

- On March 1, 2002, Washington Post writers Barton Gellman and Susan Schmidt headlined, “Shadow Government Is at Work in Secret,” saying:

- “President Bush has dispatched a shadow government of about 100 senior civilian managers to live and work secretly outside Washington, activating for the first time longstanding plans to ensure survival of federal rule after a catastrophic attack on the nation’s capital.”

- Shortly after 9/11, a classified “Continuity of Operations Plan” (aka “continuity of government”) was implemented. Legal documents were then drafted, creating a shadow government in case of a catastrophe, George Bush saying:

- “We take the continuity of government issue seriously because our nation was under attack. Until this country has routed out terrorists wherever they hid, we’re not safe.”

- In other words, the plan, like the “war on terror,” is open-ended, in violation of the Constitution’s Separation of Powers, the document George Bush called “just a goddamn piece of paper,” and governed accordingly throughout his tenure, a practice Obama continues. More on that below.

- On April 4, 2007, the Bush administration issued a combined White House/Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Security/Homeland Security Presidential Directive NSPD 51/HSPD 20, extending for one year the 9/11 emergency for the sixth time, and establishing Continuity of Government (COG) procedures under Catastrophic Emergency conditions, defined as:

- “any incident (such as a terrorist attack), regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the US population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions.”

- COG is then defined as:

- “a coordinated effort within the Federal Government’s executive branch to ensure that National Essential Functions continue to be performed during a Catastrophic Emergency.”

- The combined directive gave the president and DHS unprecedented police state powers to declare martial law without congressional approval, and be able to rule extrajudicially, free from constitutional constrains. It also let the vice-president assume dictatorial powers, George Bush left a figurehead by clever wording, saying:

- NSPD 51 “shall be implemented in a manner that is consistent with, and facilitates effective implementation of, provisions of the Constitution concerning succession to the Presidency or the exercise of its powers, and the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 (3 U.S.C. 19), with consultation of the Vice President and, as appropriate, others involved. Heads of executive departments and agencies shall ensure that appropriate support is available to the Vice President and others involved as necessary to be prepared at all times to implement those provisions.”

- Related to this was Dick Cheney‘s 2005 “Contingency Plan” in case of another 9/11 type attack, authorizing preemptive measures, including war, against suspected terrorists, individuals and/or sponsor states, depending on who’s designated.

- COG authority is renewed annually. Thus, on September 10, 2009, the White House extended the Bush administration’s 9/11 national emergency, a press release saying:

Instead, she talked about how she could “feel his spirit” in this place that MLK’s presence had turned into “sacred ground” and that he would’ve heartily approved because the rally was all about “equality”, which is what he stood for. August 30, 2010 “The Street” — 08/26/10 – — Most market reporters, commentators and politicians continue to rely upon nothing but the same short-term “snapshots” which have caused them to be “surprised” by everything. However, it is a safe conclusion that even such rampant incompetence (combined with a strong “herd mentality”), could not and does not mean that the entire U.S. government remains in an oblivious state of ignorance regarding this re-acceleration of the collapse of the U.S. economy.
This begs an obvious question. Given that at least some elements of the U.S. government have known all along that the U.S. economy was not recovering and could not recover, why is it that only now are we hearing of tentative, new plans of more “life support” for the dying U.S. economy?
The answer is also obvious. As I pointed out when I originally denounced the Obama stimulus package, it was never anything more than a bad joke. The combination of the collapse of the U.S. housing sector, massive unemployment, and the largest credit-contraction in the history of the U.S. economy had combined to subtract approximately $2 trillion per year in consumer spending from this consumer economy.
The response of the Obama regime to this scenario was a one-time injection of $780 in stimulus, spread out over more than a year. Obviously, you can’t replace $2 trillion with less than $800 billion and call it stimulus.
This brings us to the present dilemma of the U.S. government. The U.S. economy is much sicker than it was when Obama ascended the throne. Wall Street has continued to ruthlessly choke off all credit to the U.S. economy, meaning that tens of millions of American households and tens of thousands of businesses are much closer to the breaking point than they were in January of 2009.
The entire U.S. retail sector is in a terminal death-spiral, and its only response is to eliminate vast numbers of retail outlets, and herd consumers into more online retailing. While this cuts costs for these companies, most of those cuts will be reduced employment — fueling the next leg lower for consumer demand, resulting in even more store closures, etc.

The Yanks are Coming…
One journalist wandered around the scene after the crowds had left. He found not a single piece of trash in the huge, close-to-one-mile-long area previously occupied by Beck’s giant audience. All he found was a faded piece of paper that had obviously been there before the crowd arrived. That in itself borders on the miraculous.
One must be forgiven for feeling a little giddy over the media’s disappointment but there is little time for that. Having done everything in their power to discourage the public from paying any attention to Beck’s crusade last Saturday, they now turn to flat out lying about what occurred and savaging such personalities associated with the event such as Dr. King’s niece whose own father, like her uncle, died as a victim of the struggle for equal justice for all, black and white.
Beck and his rally associates such as Dr. Alveda King, Martin Luther King’s niece, have received death threats they believe to be credible.
Such disreputable groups as the Huffington Post put out the word that there was $100,000 available to anyone who could find a porn movie that might involve Beck.
These are desperate people, terrified at the reawakening of the American spirit now underway partially due to Glenn Beck’s proselytizing.
And desperate people do desperate things.
It won’t work, Glenn Beck didn’t light a blazing fire of reborn patriotism, it was already there and growing, but he sure fanned the flames. And those flames are not going to turn into embers until the cleansing fire has burned away all the litter left behind by a generation of cynical left-wing demagogues.
The Yanks aren’t coming. They’re here. To stay.

Last Sunday, I retired as the pastor of the church that my wife and I founded 35 years ago: the Crossroad Baptist Church of Pensacola, Florida.Think of it: all of my adult life after college has been spent pastoring this wonderful congregation. And the people that I spoke to this past Sunday evening are, without a doubt, the finest group of people I have ever known. They are my friends. Many of them I had led to Christ, or were saved under my preaching. Some have stood with me for twenty years; some for over thirty years. My vocabulary is too limited to express the love and appreciation I have for these wonderful people! They stood by me through thick and thin. Even when God opened the door for me to run for President of the United States on the Constitution Party ticket, they stood by me. They stood by me when enemies attacked me; they stood by me when friends forsook me.And last Sunday evening, I had to tell them that, after 35 years as their shepherd, God had led me to leave them.
I can tell you, tears flowed like rivers; and I believe my family and I cried more than anyone.

Until one day they don’t.An American expatriate living in Lombok for 15 years apparently reached the end of his rope on Aug. 22, when police say he barged into a late-night prayer session with his shoes on, unplugged a microphone and may have even hit one of the worshippers.Police and witnesses said he was lucky to escape with his life as enraged worshippers chased him, then ransacked his house.Luke Gregory Lloyd, 64, escaped a beating but is being held by police on suspicion of blasphemy and violating his visa, the deputy chief of the Central Lombok Police, Comr. Lalu Mahsun, said on Monday.
“This man really angered residents of Kuta village in Pujut, Central Lombok,” Mahsun said.“On the night of August 22 he stormed into a musholla [prayer facility] and berated locals who were performing the Tadarus,” the traditional reading of the Koran that goes late into the night following special 9 p.m. Ramadan prayers.“He entered with his shoes on and then unplugged the microphone used by locals to recite the Koran,” Mahsun said.
“We believe he even hit one of the worshippers because, according to him, they had interrupted his sleep.”Mahsun said the local religious affairs office would need to decide whether Lloyd had committed blasphemy, which is illegal. New England Patriots cheerleader Caitlin Davis was cut from the squad over controversial pictures that were posted on her Facebook page. Davis, then 18, was at a Halloween party when she posed for photos with a passed-out man who was covered in graffiti, including swastikas, anti-Semitic remarks and profanity. Davis was fired from the squad after the pictures appeared on various websites and caught the attention of the Patriot’s management team. She had been the youngest cheerleader ever to make an NFL squad.

Press Release: Three-Star General Files Sworn Affidavit Supporting LTC Lakin’s Case
Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney has supplied an affidavit in support of Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, who faces trial on October 13-15. The retired Air Force three-star is the highest ranking officer yet to lend public support to LTC Lakin.
His affidavit acknowledges widespread concerns over the President‘s Constitutional eligibility and demands the President release his birth records or the court authorize discovery.McInerney’s sworn affidavit was filed in Court-Martial in support of Lakin’s motions for subpoenas for all of the president’s school records, and for a deposition of the custodian of Obama’s birth records in the possession of the State of Hawaii. The Judge has set a hearing in the Court Martial on these motions for this coming Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00 at Ft. Meade, Maryland.
All court proceedings are open to the public. The courthouse is located within Ft. Meade at 4432 Llewellyn Avenue, which is on the corner of Llewellyn and Ernie Pyle Road. At the first intersection after the Reece Road gate, you should turn left on to Ernie Pyle Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile south of the intersection of Reece Road and Ernie Pyle Road.LTC Lakin is a physician, and is in his 18th year of service in the Army. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He has been recognized for his outstanding service as a flight surgeon for year-long tours in Honduras, Bosnia and Afghanistan. He was also awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan and recognized in 2005 as one of the Army Medical Department’s outstanding flight surgeons.

Well, that’s the very special holiday magic the Obamas decided to hang on their tree for their first White House Christmas, courtesy of famed Barney’s designer Simon Doonan.Maybe we’re just old-fashioned, but it’s our impression that most Christians celebrate the holidays with more serene images of angels, snowflakes and scenes from the Nativity.Also, do most Christians you know beautify their Christmas tree with images of themselves ensconced on Mount Rushmore? One other point: Most Christians of our acquaintance who want to pass on their sincere love of Christianity take their children to church on Christmas.
