“A Republic, ma’am, if you can keep it”
“Except for a brief period during the Reagan years, America has been moving steadily toward becoming a social democracy rather than the republic our founders gave us. There is a very good reason why this is happening. Since 1933, Democrats have had complete control of government – Presidency, House and Senate – for 34 years.
Republicans, on the other hand, have had control of government for a total of four years 108th and 109th Congress. Democrats controlled both houses of Congress for 56 years, while Republicans controlled both houses for only 12 years. For 22 years, the Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate; none for the Republicans.Clearly, Democrats have steered the ship of state since the Roosevelt era.
While Democrats loudly blame the Republicans for all the nation’s woes, it is the Democrats who must accept responsibility for the state of the nation. As bad as things are in the United States at the moment, the United States is in far better shape than most of the rest of the world.
But the nation is nowhere near as good as it would have been had the republic – and its free market – been allowed to prosper. The “Progressive” era that arose from the writings of Marx, Lenin, and others, embraced fully by Woodrow Wilson’s administration, infested the Democrat Party, and since Franklin Roosevelt, has promoted policies that advance Marxism and erodes the republican form of government designed by our founders. The republican form of government created by our founders consists of three primary pillars: the election of representatives who make policy; the election of a president through the Electoral College; and the election of Senators by state legislatures. All three of these pillars are under severe attack. Increasingly, state and local policies are being decided by direct vote of the people, instead of by representatives elected by the people.
This is direct democracy, not the way a republic functions. Our founders carefully avoided the possibility of a direct democracy, well aware of the inevitable anarchy that always follows democracy…”

Why An Income Tax is NOT Necessary to Fund the U.S. Government
Where do your “income” tax dollars go?The best place to look for an answer to this question would be a government report, so let’s take just one at random:President’s Private Sector Survey On Cost ControlA Report to The President ReaganJanuary 15, 1984. Available from the Congressional Research Service.
The excerpt below can be found on page 12. “Importantly, any meaningful increases in taxes from personal income would have to come from lower and middle income families, as 90% of all personal taxable income is generated below the taxable income level of $35,000. Further, there isn’t much more that can be extracted from high income brackets. If the Government took 100% of all taxable income beyond the $75,000 tax bracket not already taxed, it would get only $17 billion, and this confiscation, which would destroy productive enterprise, would only be sufficient to run the Government for several days.
Resistance to additional income taxes would be even more widespread if people were aware that: With two-thirds of everyone’s personal income taxes wasted or not collected, 100% of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the Federal Government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services which taxpayers expect from their government.”So what we have is a central bank issuing worthless paper “money” that controls our economy, our lives and our future.
This private banking cartel was unconstitutionally granted this power by a devious, scheming group of senators back in 1913. In essence what they did was place the American people into indentured servitude by forcing The People to pay usury on worthless fiat currency paper money created out of nothing, not to fund the government, but to enrich the bankers and fund wars in which America should never be involved.
This system exists not to fund the government, but to allow the U.S. Congress carte blanche power to continue funding unconstitutional agencies and programs by providing them with a bottomless source of worthless ink.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff should be worried… | The Post & Email
And when the American people finally rise up and overthrow the usurper and his cohorts, loyal and true members of the U.S. Military will hall them from the holes into which they have fled, and bring them before a military tribunal on charges of treason.
And for that reason, the Joint Chiefs of Staff should be worried…

Did Obama Tell Left-Wing Journalist About Most Closely Guarded U.S. Secrets? Read Between The Lines
First, read the article from Bill Gertz in the Wash Times:”A new book Bob Woodward reveals some of the CIA‘s holy-of-holies secrets: Details of covert action programs that must be approved personally by the president.
Mr. Woodward, in “Obama’s Wars,” describes a Dec. 9, 2008, meeting between President-elect Obama and then-CIA Director Michael V. Hayden and then-Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell. The briefing was on a detailed listing of some of the “14 highly classified covert actions,” Mr. Woodward wrote.
At the top of the list was the Bush administration’s program to “conduct clandestine, lethal counterterrorism operations and other programs to stop terrorists worldwide” in more than 60 nations. One program goal was to stop al Qaeda from using a nuclear weapon or spreading a biological warfare agent.Other covert actions were directed at stopping Iran from developing nuclear weapons; deterring North Korea from building more; conducting anti-arms proliferation activities around the world; and launching lethal CIA operations in Afghanistan, like deadly drone attacks and the 3,000-person CIA unit called Counterterrorism Pursuit Teams.
In Iraq, CIA covert action involves both lethal and political operations. Also, CIA was paying “tens of millions” to several foreign intelligence services, including Jordan’s General Intelligence Department.Covert actions mentioned in the briefing included a program to stop genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan and a CIA program to provide the Turkish government with intelligence and other support to prevent the northern Iraq-based Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK from setting up an enclave in Turkey.
Disclosure of the programs raised eyebrows among several high-ranking national security officials because covert action — political, military and intelligence operations that are designed to hide the U.S. role in carrying them out — are among the most closely guarded secrets.”Now read between the lines below!

U.S. eyes Australian Internet security plan [Good read for FReepers]Northwest Herald ^ | October 17, 2010 | LOLITA C. BALDORPosted on Sunday, October 17, 2010 8:37:24 AM by upchuckThe government is reviewing an Australian program that will allow Internet service providers to alert customers if their computers are taken over by hackers and could limit online access if people don’t fix the problem.Obama administration officials have met with industry leaders and experts to find ways to increase online safety while trying to balance securing the Internet and guarding people’s privacy and civil liberties.
Experts and U.S. officials are interested in portions of the plan, set to go into effect in Australia in December. But any move toward Internet regulation or monitoring by the U.S. government or industry could trigger fierce opposition from the public. The discussions come as private, corporate and government computers across the U.S. are increasingly being taken over and exploited by hackers and other computer criminals.White House cybercoordinator Howard Schmidt told The Associated Press that the U.S. is looking at a number of voluntary ways to help the public and small businesses better protect themselves online.

World Exclusive: First Interview With Mario Sepulveda [Chilean Miner]
Mario says his first instinct was to seek an escape route. ‘Some of the younger ones were in a bad way – hysterical – but I had to find a way out. The only thought that kept going through my head was that I didn’t want to die before my children had an education. It sounds like a crazy thought but that is so important to me.—He says:
‘The mine was swelteringly hot [around 92F, 33C]. We stripped down to our underwear. It was so humid you could not move without sweating.‘The air was so bad our eyes were burning the whole time. We were all coughing. It was like being in a filthy sauna where the air is full of dirt. We made beds by putting cardboard on the floor.‘The batteries in our helmet lights faded and then they went out completely on Day Three.’ The miners had a Nissan pick-up truck, a ‘scoop’ – a mechanical digger – a small cargo truck and another truck with a lift attached which is used to reach the roof. Mario says: ‘We used the vehicles for everything while we were down there. Some men slept in them, we used them to move stuff around and to explore the tunnels beneath us to look for any possible escape route going up.’

To: BunnySlippersthanks for posting. It’s a really good read.
This is a very good read.
I didn’t tune into the Chilean mine story until they were actually retrieving the miners in that little pod. What a story. It’s been fascinating catching up.
The media has such class! s Asking them if the reason for their pact of silence was because they were having homosexual sex and cannabalism? Sheesh! These guys were trying desperately to survive. I’m sure sex was the last thing on their minds.

Oil change reignites debate over GPS trackers
Yasir Afifi, a 20-year-old computer salesman and community college student, took his car in for an oil change earlier this month and his mechanic spotted an odd wire hanging from the undercarriage. The wire was attached to a strange magnetic device that puzzled Afifi and the mechanic.
They freed it from the car and posted images of it online, asking for help in identifying it.Two days later, FBI agents arrived at Afifi’s Santa Clara apartment and demanded the return of their property — a global positioning system tracking device now at the center of a raging legal debate over privacy rights.
One federal judge wrote that the widespread use of the device was straight out of George Orwell‘s novel, “1984″.
“By holding that this kind of surveillance doesn’t impair an individual’s reasonable expectation of privacy, the panel hands the government the power to track the movements of every one of us, every day of our lives,” wrote Alex Kozinski, the chief judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in a blistering dissent in which a three-judge panel from his court ruled that search warrants weren’t necessary for GPS tracking.
But other federal and state courts have come to the opposite conclusion.Law enforcement advocates for the devices say GPS can eliminate time-consuming stakeouts and old-fashioned “tails” with unmarked police cars. The technology had a starring role in the HBO cops-and-robbers series “The Wire” and police use it to track every type of suspect — from terrorist to thieves stealing copper from air conditioners. That investigators don’t need a warrant to use GPS tracking devices in California troubles privacy advocates, technophiles, criminal defense attorneys and others.
