Obama White House pressured Spain to drop Bush torture prosecution, leaked cable shows

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

The Obama administration went to the mat to defend its predecessors from a torture prosecution in Spain last year, a leaked State Department cable shows. The cable, released by WikiLeaks this week, shows that senior US diplomats teamed with Republican lawmakers — including a former Republican Party chairman — to put pressure on Spanish officials to drop a criminal investigation into the Bush administration’s use of “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

In the spring of 2009, Spanish Judge Balthasar Garzon launched an inquiry into six Bush officials linked to the torture policy. They were then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales; Cheney adviser David Addington; Pentagon lawyer William Haynes; Pentagon official Douglas Feith; and Jay Bybee and John Yoo from the Office of Legal Counsel.According to Mother Jones‘ David Corn, US officials began to put pressure on Spain almost as soon as the probe was announced. Soon after the request was made, the US embassy in Madrid began tracking the matter. On April 1, embassy officials spoke with chief prosecutor Javier Zaragoza, who indicated that he was not pleased to have been handed this case, but he believed that the complaint appeared to be well-documented and he’d have to pursue it.

Around that time, the acting deputy chief of the US embassy talked to the chief of staff for Spain’s foreign minister and a senior official in the Spanish Ministry of Justice to convey, as the cable says, “that this was a very serious matter for the [US government].” The two Spaniards “expressed their concern at the case but…

Conservative blogger roughed up and kicked out of Van Jones ‘Public Event’

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

While attending an event billed as “open to the public”, conservative blogger Adam Sharp was harassed, roughed up and forcibly removed. His “crime”? Someone at the Washington University at St. Louis thought Sharp worked for Fox News, and didn’t like the questions he was asking Van Jones – the main speaker at the event.Gateway Pundit reported that “several university officials harassed the citizen journalists at the event.

One university thug even roughed up Sharp and grabbed for his camera.”Van Jones was recently ousted from his White House position as the so-called “green jobs czar” after his admitted communism and 9-11 trutherism stirred controversy.Jones also published an obscenity-laced anti-government rap song in which he called Uncle Sam “the real terrorist.”A group funded by Jones, Color of Change, led a successful campaign to keep Andrew Breitbart off ABC News Election night coverage.

The group is also targeting Glenn Beck and Fox News in hopes of silencing them as well.Sharp attended the event in hopes of asking Jones about his radical views, but Sharp learned first hand the progressive definition of free speech.

Military slams door on mystery missile questions

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

The Department of Defense is slamming the door on questions about the mysterious contrail filmed Nov. 8 by a KCBS television crew near Los Angeles after questions were raised about a warning from the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency that there could be missiles fired in that area at that time. The official government position has been that the contrail, which appears to have been made by a single source, was from a jet passing by.And the refusal to provide answers to specific questions suggests a cover-up of potential secret missile testing in the area – contrary to official jet contrail explanation.

For weeks, experts have examined the billowing plume and the single-source white-hot exhaust which they contend was from a missile, not a jet.It was in Joseph Farah‘s G2 Bulletin intelligence report where the story was broken that several experts who examined the video of the mysterious contrail confirmed it was not from a jet but a missile. The experts who examined the video have had extensive experience working with missiles and computer security systems for various sensitive agencies of the U.S. government.

They even went so far as to suggest that the missile may have been shot from a submerged Chinese nuclear submarine, coinciding with an increasing level of confrontation between the United States and China and designed to send a message to Washington:

Hands Off Our Net

Regulation: In the name of fairness, a Federal Communications Commission plan to impose “net neutrality” without any legislative or legal authority will in effect be silencing a conduit for the truth that keeps us free. The Internet is once again under attack, not from hackers intent on spilling secrets or causing mischief, but by an administration intent on controlling the free flow of information that it views as a threat to its expanding power.

According to the Hill, which obtained a copy of the FCC’s tentative December agenda just after midnight Wednesday, the government agency will seek to impose rules concerning “net neutrality” at a Feb. 21 meeting. The announcement says these “rules would protect consumers’ and innovators’ right to know basic information about broadband service, right to send and receive lawful Internet traffic, and right to a level playing field.”Regulation now is done by Internet service providers ISPs and Web sites that sprout up like weeds. A lot of nonsense is online, as well as a lot of valuable facts and information. Information’s former gatekeepers, such as the mainstream media and the federal government, find this free flow of ideas inconvenient.Note the announcement’s emphasis on “lawful Internet traffic” and a “level playing field.”

This is government-speak for controlling what gets said and who gets to say it. The Internet is already open to all, but in the marketplace of ideas, as in other areas of endeavor, some ideas win out over others. The FCC wants to decide what and whose ideas get heard.

THE REAL PENTAGON POLL: 91% OF SERVICE MEMBERS REJECT HOMOSEXUAL LEADERS – 1 IN 4 WOULD QUIT

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

Please forward widely to reporters and bloggers you know!

[Editor's note: Remember, these overwhelming numbers against the repeal of DADT were arrived at in spite of the fact that the Obama Administration survey as submitted to service members was incredibly biased and the questions asked were heavily skewed in an attempt to support the Left's radical homosexual agenda.]-

—————————————————

THE REAL PENTAGON POLL: 91% REJECT HOMOSEXUAL LEADERS. 85% OF COMBAT MARINES DISTRUST, 71% WON’T SHARE SHOWERS, 24% WON’T RE-ENLIST. HALF MILLION TROOPS, ONE IN FOUR, WOULD LEAVE THE MILITARY

Former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt just read the full Pentagon report on repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and here’s his analysis:”Don’t believe the phony liberal media reports that 70% of troops support open homosexual service, because that statistic included ‘mixed’ feelings. A closer reading of the fine print in the newly released Pentagon survey shows our troops answered as follows:Q45.

If you had a leader whom you believed was gay or lesbian…9% positive, 91% negative or mixed impact on unit’s performance.Q68c. 85% of Marine Combat Arms, 75% of Army Combat Arms, 64% overall say Negative, Very Negative, or Mixed impact on unit trust if DADT is repealed. Q90. 29% would take no action if assigned open showers with homosexuals. 71% would shower at other times, complain to leadership or chaplains, don’t know or do “something else” [including violence].Q81. 24% will leave the military or think about leaving sooner than planned. One half million troops will QUIT the service early, destroying our national security.

Q80. 6% will positively recommend service to others after repeal. 94% feel negative, mixed, no effect, or don’t know about recommending military service to others. Destroying recruiting efforts. Q66. If open homosexuality impacts combat performance, is the impact…9% positive, 91% negative or mixed impact. Q71. 11% feel positive or very positive about permitting open homosexuality in field environment or out at sea. 60% negative or mixed. 19% no effect.

Q73. 5% say repeal would positively boost morale. 41% say negative or mixed impact morale. Rest no effect or don’t know.In summary, the real statistics prove our nation faces a NATIONAL SECURITY DISASTER if Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is repealed, and open homosexual aggression is forced upon our troops against their will.”

Big Media dig in on eligibility

Big Media dig in on eligibilityWND ^ | 12/2/10 | Joseph FarahPosted on Thursday, December 02, 2010 3:22:38 AM by FTJM

I guess the lesson to draw from Anderson Cooper‘s hostile interrogation of Texas state Rep. Leo Berman is that the Old Media, which mishandled the eligibility story from the beginning, is now determined to ensure America never learns the truth at their expense.Berman’s offense was introducing a bill into the Texas Legislature that would require any candidate for president or vice president to provide a birth certificate to the Texas secretary of state to ensure constitutional eligibility before getting on the ballot. It’s a perfectly logical and reasonable and commendable action. It should involve no controversy whatsoever – unless you believe Barack Obama is above the law, as apparently CNN’s Anderson Cooper does.Cooper demonstrated his complete ignorance of the facts by beginning: “There’s a certificate of live birth, which is what the state of Hawaii sends out. Why isn’t that good enough?”Berman started out strong, explaining that “it’s not an original birth certificate.”

But here’s what he should have responded: “The document you are referring to, Anderson, is called a ‘certification of live birth,’ and it fails the test of proving Obama was born in Hawaii. There were and are several ways these documents can be obtained without a birth actually taking place in Hawaii. In addition, Hawaii has never released even the certification of live birth to anyone. The state refuses to do so. All we have in the way of a reputed certification of live birth is what the Obama campaign provided to select and privileged websites and journalists. Hawaii has never even confirmed that document that we’ve all seen on the Internet is an official, state-issued release.

So clearly that is wholly inadequate for any state determined to ensure ballot integrity.”

9/11 Family Group: Judge Napolitano and Geraldo Rivera Are Right to Question Building 7 Collapse

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

New York – Today, the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now NYC CAN, a group of family members of those killed in the 9/11 attacks, issued the following statement:We who lost our loved ones on September 11, 2001 vigorously applaud Judge Andrew Napolitano and Geraldo Rivera for the courage they have shown in publicly questioning the official claim that the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 was due to fire.In the week since Judge Napolitano aired his views on Building 7, many voices in the media have singled him out for attack while conveniently ignoring the sequence of events that led to his revelation and the overwhelming evidence that validates his concerns.

This past month, on TV screens across the New York Metropolitan Area, millions of viewers have been seeing footage of Building 7’s collapse for the first time ever. This is because we took it upon ourselves to produce and appear in a TV ad to draw attention to the fact that more than 1,300 architects and engineers publicly join us in challenging the official explanation that Building 7 came down due to fire. We were fortunate enough that Geraldo Rivera saw our ad and invited our representatives to appear on Geraldo At Large. There they presented the irrefutable evidence that Building 7’s collapse could not have resulted from fire as the government claims.

Geraldo Rivera then appeared on Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano to discuss our campaign and express his doubts about Building 7. The following week, Judge Napolitano courageously voiced his own opinions on this matter.

G. Gordon Liddy: WikiLeaks chief deserves to be on ‘kill list’

WND ExclusiveG. Gordon Liddy:

WikiLeaks chief deserves to be on ‘kill list’Former White House adviser: ‘We’re not playing games here’

Posted: December 01, 20109:05 pm EasternBy Drew Zahn© 2010 WorldNetDailyLONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 26:

Julian Assange of the WikiLeaks website speaks to reporters at The Front Line Club on July 26, 2010 in London, England. The WikiLeaks website has published 90,000 secret US Military records.

The Guardian and The New York Times newspapers and the German Magazine Der Spiegel have also published details today. Photo by Peter Macdiarmid/Getty ImagesSecretary of State Hillary Clinton says his action “puts people’s lives in danger,” and U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has called for his website to be declared a foreign terrorist organization, but radio host and former White House leaks-stuffer G. Gordon Liddy has a more severe step in mind for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange: kill him.”Julian Assange is a severe national security threat to the U.S., and that then leads to what to do about it,” Liddy told WND.

“This fellow Anwar al-Awlaki – a joint U.S. citizen hiding out in Yemen – is on a ‘kill list’ [for inciting terrorism against the U.S.]. Mr. Assange should be put on the same list.”"I’m not surprised that G. Gordon Liddy wants Julian Assange killed,” commentator Bill Press told WND. “He admits he once tried to figure out how to kill journalist Jack Anderson. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I think people should have to commit a crime and be convicted before getting the death penalty. And, so far, Assange has done neither. The best treatment for Julian Assange is to ignore him – and focus on who’s leaking to him.”

UPDATE: You Tube Restores Banned Video After Media Storm

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

Updated December 1, 2010 2:20 PM CST —

You Tube issued TheAlexJonesChannel a notice reversing its PREVIOUS DECISION to freeze the account.

In the newest contact, You Tube writes that “Upon additional review we have reinstated the material and removed any penalties that had been applied to your account.”Only two days ago, YouTube responded to our counter-notification challenging the removal of a Wikileaks massacre video posted by literally hundreds of other media outlets by ruling to freeze our account.

Now, thanks to outrage from our listeners and articles slamming the unfair ruling, You Tube has taken the rare and nearly unprecedented step of taking a second look, restoring the video and removing all penalties.

Credit goes to You Tube for listening to our criticism.Ironically, though, even this reversal contains its own spin. Below the decision [see full letter below] is a message recommending that we “appeal the strike” in any future incidents we feel are unjust. However, this appeal process, known as a “DMCA counter-notification” is the exact venue we used to challenge the video’s original removal. It was when we DID appeal that…

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Six months ago, two West Memphis police officers were gunned down by a father and son duo who claimed to be members of the anti-government group, “Sovereign Citizens“. One of those officers was the son of West Memphis Police Chief Bob Paudert and now, Chief Paudert is making a training video to alert other officers of the dangers of the group.”I feel like I let these two officers down and this department down and they didn’t know. and had they known they’d be alive today and I’m convinced of that,” said Chief Paudert.Chief Paudert blames himself for the deaths of his son, Sgt. Brandon Paudert and fellow officer Bill Evans.

The two were murdered during this traffic stop, by a father and son claiming to be Sovereign Citizens.SNIPPaudert recently teamed up with the Southern Poverty Law Center to make this training DVD about the group. Lakin not allowed witnesses, documents, explanation at court-martial Dec. 14!

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

Letters obtained by The Gazette reveal the extent to which a decorated Army officer and his brother struggled to resolve concerns over the President’s eligibility prior to the officer being court-martialed.The Lakins are long-time Greeley residents. Three Lakin brothers; Dr. Greg Lakin, Capt. Gary Lakin USCG and Lt. Col. Terrance Lakin graduated from University High School in 1977, 1980 and 1983 respectively.

The brothers’ parents still live in Greeley and have a long history of supporting humanitarian causes in the area.Lt. Col. Lakin is currently scheduled to be court-martialed Dec. 14 for disobeying orders to deploy after exhausting numerous attempts to resolve issues regarding the President’s eligibility to be Commander-in-Chief. The specific issue involved is the Constitutional requirement that the President be a natural born citizen.Dr. Greg Lakin has previously been a member of the Greeley Police Department and was a prosecutor in Hawaii. Greg, who was interviewed on the Peter Boyles radio show on Nov. 9, said Lakin, “mulled over this for a long period of time” before he made his decision to refuse to deploy to Afghanistan.

He strongly disputed the contention that his brother was a coward for deploying, noting Terry had already served in both Bosnia and Afghanistan….In an interview with the Gazette, Dr. Lakin shared copies of letters he and his brother sent to the President and Hawaiian Governor Linda Lingle asking for a resolution of this issue. Greg said the letters were written with a very humble spirit in an attempt to seek information verifying Barack Obama’s birthplace.

You Are No Longer Free To Move About the Country

Janet Napolitano said last month that we should expect to soon see tighter restrictions at bus, train, and marine transportation centers, too. Here’s a report about TSA, Border Patrol, and local police setting up a checkpoint at a Greyhound station in Tampa.

Note how quickly preventing a possible terrorist attack expands to include catching illegal immigrants, and preventing drug and what sounds like “cash smuggling.” It’s hard to tell from the audio. Note also the complete and utter reverence the local news report bestows on these government agencies, who after all are merely “teaming up to keep your family safe.”

The link is to this evening’s top Korean-language Chosun Ilbo story in Seoul, South (Good) Korea. It states that after the Communist North under Kim Jong il had attacked the South at Yeongpyungdo (island) with rockets and howitzers last Tuesday, the patriotic ferver and anger has increased greatly in the South, and the most immediate manifestation is the soaring young recruits signing up to join the South Korean (R.O.K.) Marines, since it was two Marines who had been killed in the North shelling.

WikiLeaks Exposes White House’s Conscious Support of Islamists Surprise!

December 2, 2010 Leave a comment

The fact that the latest installment of WikiLeaks coincided with the Egyptian parliamentary elections is unfortunate timing for the U.S. It provides an unflattering portrait of a White House that sides with Islamists both in and out of power around the world.

Though it was to be expected — in the spirit of “free and fair” elections — that the White House would say it was “disappointed” that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak shut out the Muslim Brotherhood from the electoral process, how will President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton explain their purposeful strengthening of ties with other Islamists who fund terrorism and undermine U.S. policy in the Middle East and Southeast Asia?

Take, for example, the Obama administration‘s infusion of goodwill into our relationship with Turkey. Here is how EurasiaNet reported Secretary Clinton’s visit to Turkey early on in the administration:
