Forever Stamps Tell Us Much
Financial Sense ^ | Fri, 31 Dec 2010 | by Peter D Schiff

The United States Postal Service announced this week that all future first class postage stamps sold will be the so-called “forever stamps” that have no face value but are guaranteed to cover the cost of mailing a first class letter, regardless of how high that cost may rise in the future. Currently these stamps are sold for 44 cents, but will increase in price if and when the Post Office hikes rates.

Apart from sounding the death knell of the one cent stamp, the news is interesting on two fronts: it provides insight into remarkably irresponsible government accounting, and it provides investors with the most attractive Federally-guaranteed inflation protected asset available on the market today.

Over the past fifty years, the USPS has raised the rates on first class postage 20 times. During that time the stamp prices have gone up more than 1,100%. Given the increasing frequency of rate hikes (three in the last four years) the Post Office claims it made the move to forever stamps to save money on printing costs and to increase customer convenience. The public seems to appreciate the product and has snapped up a staggering 28 billion forever stamps since they became available in 2007.

But the real reason behind the permanent switch is that it allows the Post Office to hide its insolvency behind phony accounting numbers, setting itself up for a massive taxpayer financed bailout in the not too distant future.

Mainstream Press Journalism of Appeasement, Corruption, Smoke and Mirrors

by David DeGraw
Market Oracle

Here’s a brief summation of my recent reporting: If we continue to let our politicians and wealthy members of society live in comfort, free from the consequences of their actions, we are complicit in our own demise.

Our country is so overrun with corruption, we cannot remain passive and expect things to get any better.

The economy is propped up by smoke and mirrors and will inevitably collapse. Without immediately breaking up the banks and holding the thieves accountable, we will continue on our downward spiral with increasingly severe and devastating consequences.

These are extremely unpleasant truths that we are now forced to confront. We have to act now. If you are not calling for revolution or organizing, you are either unaware of what’s happening around you, horribly naïve or a fascist sympathizer.

In response to statements like those above, I’ve been exchanging emails with colleagues (journalists and news editors) who have become “uncomfortable” with my reporting style and been saying some variation of the following: “You’re being too radical. This is too extreme for us to publish.”

While I appreciate their opinions, I want to make something 100% clear. I am fully aware that these words are harsh, and may turn off some people. However, in extreme times, telling the truth will make you sound extreme. Ultimately, I don’t mind if you think I sound “too extreme,” I don’t care if I make people “uncomfortable,” or if, in your opinion, I’ve become “too radical.” Try telling that to the 52 million Americans who are now living in poverty. Tell that to the millions of American families who have lost their homes and jobs. Tell that to the 59 million people who can’t afford health insurance. Tell that to the overwhelming majority of the population who are stressed out, living paycheck to paycheck, buried in debt they will never get out of and desperately struggling to make ends meet.

Obama’s underage, gay affair

The National Enquirer now suggests Barack Obama had an underage, gay affair with a pedophile.

The ENQUIRER exclusively reports a “sex pervert” was Sen. Barack Obama‘s longtime mentor and “father figure“.

For seven years, the presidential candidate had a “father-son” relationship with Frank Marshall Davis, who has confessed to having sex with children, sadomasochism, bondage and practicing a wide array of deviant sexual activities.

In his 1995 memoir Dreams from My Father, Obama identifies his childhood mentor only as “Frank,” but Obama insiders later confirmed he was referring to Davis, a journalist and poet who was a pal of Obama’s maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham.

Davis confessed: “I could not truthfully deny that this book, which came out in 1968 as a Greenleaf Classic, was mine.”

What was the most covered-up story of 2010? WND
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 31, 2010 | Bob Unruh

A senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu during the 2008 presidential election burst onto the national media scene in June when WND reported his allegation that there is no Hawaiian birth certificate for Barack Obama.

But the disclosures from the elections insider regarding one of the most controversial issues of the day – the constitutional legitimacy of a president – was ignored by most of the media, thus putting Adams’ story at the top of WND’s annual list of the 10 most “spiked” or underreported stories of the last year.

The issue of his birth is pertinent insofar as it plays a role in his status as a “natural born citizen” under the Constitution’s requirement for presidents, a demand not imposed on any other federal office-holder.

Many critics are challenging, politically, legally and strategically, Obama’s eligibility to occupy the high office, command U.S. troops, determine foreign policy and run domestic functions, including his initiatives early in his tenure to take over banks, insurance companies and automobile companies as well as nationalize health care.

for the 10 most underreported or unreported stories of 2010:

1. Elections official Tim Adams claims there is no Hawaiian birth certificate for Barack Obama.

WND reported on Adams, a college instructor who worked as senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu in 2008, when he made the stunning claim Barack Obama definitely was not born in Hawaii as the White House maintains.
