“The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a ‘rebellion’ is a gross abuse of language.” — Jefferson Davis Pres. CSA

Happy Secession Day
by Thomas J. DiLorenzo
Perhaps the best evidence of how American history was rewritten, Soviet style, in the post-1865 era is the fact that most Americans seem to be unaware that “Independence Day” was originally intended to be a celebration of the colonists’ secession from the British empire.
Indeed, the word secession is not even a part of the vocabulary of most Americans, who more often than not confuse it with “succession.” The Revolutionary War was America’s first war of secession.America’s most prominent secessionist, Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration, was very clear about what he was saying: Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and whenever that consent is withdrawn, it is the right of the people to “alter or abolish” that government and “to institute a new government.”
The word “secession” was not a part of the American language at that time, so Jefferson used the word “separation” instead to describe the intentions of the American colonial secessionists……….
“See Something, Say Something” Exposed As Hoax
Alex Jones proves it’s impossible to report terror threats because the government has no interest in preventing terror
See Something, Say Something Exposed As Hoax

Given the intensity with which the Department of Homeland Security and Janet Napolitano have promoted the “See Something, Say Something” campaign, one would think the federal government would be keen on receiving reports from Americans about potential terror threats.
However, numerous calls to the DHS, FBI and the White House prove otherwise – the entire program is a hoax and the feds have no interest in preventing terrorism. For the past week, both on air and off air, Alex Jones has been trying to alert the federal government to terror threats and on every occasion has been rebuffed and ignored.
On Sunday, Alex called the FBI while hosting his live radio broadcast to report terrorism. During the last half hour of today’s show MP3 – video to follow, he called the White House and the DHS. On each occasion, the reports were met with ignored phone calls, answer phone messages that didn’t even state who was taking the message, and a complete failure to return any of the calls after messages were left.
After calling the White House a second time in an effort to talk to a real person, the line simply went dead before anyone answered. In addition, the DHS won’t even provide the number to report terror threats and instead passes the buck to local authorities when asked, as the phone calls made by Alex Jones prove.
Jones responded to numbers provided on “See Something, Say Something” flyers, only to be told by a DHS operator as well as a DHS press officer that local law enforcement were responsible for taking reports about terror threats.Jones then tried to call the local Austin Police Department but was told to call Homeland Security and was then shunted to yet another voicemail machine.
On every single occasion, Jones illustrated that it is impossible to report terror threats, proving that the entire mirage of anti-terror apparatus is a complete fraud.

James Webb’s Fight Against Political Correctness
by Thomas J. DiLorenzoby
Thomas J. DiLorenzoDIGG THIS
“He’s not an ordinary politician. He has strong beliefs.”~ Senator Charles Schumer describing Senator James WebbI have never met Senator-elect James Webb D-VA, a highly decorated Vietnam War-era Marine, former U.S. Navy Secretary, novelist, screen writer, and historian, but I knew he was a man I should respect when I read his latest book, Born Fighting: A History of the Scots-Irish in America.
Unlike so many books on American history, especially those about the “Civil War” era, Born Fighting gives one the impression that the author had embarked on a relentless search for truth and had no tolerance for the poison of political correctness. My intuition about Webb was confirmed recently when he refused to genuflect, scrape and grovel, and kiss the ring of George W. Bush at a White House reception in stark contrast to every other member of Congress in attendance.
Then, a day later, I really knew that Senator-elect Webb was a man to be admired when George “Statecraft as Soul Craft” Will, the resident Lincoln-worshipping Straussian /Neocon Iraq war apologist on the Washington Post op-ed page, called him a “boor” and generally trashed him in a column. Congratulations, Senator-elect Webb!Born Fighting is a passionate, well-researched book about the Scotch-Irish in America “my people,” as Webb calls them.
Libertarians should be interested in this book, and the topic in general, because of the strong argument that Webb makes that the Scotch-Irish have always been radical individualists. “To them, joining a group and putting themselves at the mercy of someone else’s collective judgment makes about as much sense as letting the government take their guns.” Webb proved that he is a true blue Scotch-Irishman when he not only failed to bow and scrape to the Decider-in-Chief, but used the opportunity to express his opinion that the troops in Iraq, including his own Marine-son, should be brought home immediately………

Having spent most of their lives as elected politicians, the GOP old guard keeps trying to stay in control. However the newbies may be getting restless and instead of feeling challenges by Democrats, it is the Republicans who may be their actual foes.Excerpt Read more at examiner.com …

Obamacare Advocate: Make Refusniks Wear Gold Stickers

A leading advocate of Obamacare told NPR yesterday that Americans who refuse to pay for health care should be forced to wear gold stickers on their foreheads and refused emergency hospital treatment, in a chilling throwback to how Jews were persecuted by being made to wear yellow stars by the Nazis during the occupation of Europe.
In an article carried on the NPR website entitled Alternatives To Mandating Insurance? Maybe, Dr. Len Nichols, Professor of Health Policy and Director of the Center for Health Policy Research and Ethics at George Mason University, and a staunch advocate of mandatory health care, came up with a novel idea “to make the consequences of not having insurance even more dramatic.”………………………

No word from the president, but Friedman told the Daily Beast in an email: “Given the pressure of a campaign, I doubt that the President got to read anything cover to cover. And for most of his presidency, the Great Recession has really swamped debate and discussion about climate and energy. So, I was very pleased to hear that he is diving into it again. …”

Forget Your “Junk”—The TSA Wants to Feel Up Your Mind
Ben Buchwalter
MotherJones
Feb9,
YOU’RE UNHAPPY with the choice between having the Transportation Security Administration “porno-scanning” you or touching your junk, this might also freak you out: The TSA is trying to read your mind.
Since June 2003, it’s been monitoring travelers’ facial expressions and body language for signs that they might be hiding something. As of March 2010, the TSA’s Screening Passengers by Observational Techniques SPOT program had 3,000 “behavior detection officers” in more than 150 airports.
job is to strike up conversations with passengers at security checkpoints, checking for what one TSA official describes as “behaviors that show you’re trying to get away with something you shouldn’t be doing.”
People who don’t display “normal airport behavior” may be stopped for questioning.SPOT is based largely on the work of Paul Ekman, a behavioral scientist who has spent his career identifying “microexpressions”—twitches lasting between one-fifteenth and one-twenty-fifth of a second that reveal intentionally concealed emotions. Ekman’s methods have been used by the animators ofToy Story and Shrek and celebrated by Malcolm Gladwell, and they inspired the Fox TV series Lie To Me, whose main character is a human lie detector who thrives on confrontations with psychopaths and murderers. That’s a far cry from Ekman himself, an unassuming 77-year-old who makes no claims of infallibility. “I’m never absolutely certain,” he says, sitting in his San Francisco loft.
“I can’t tell you what triggers an emotion. I can only tell you to recognize an emotion even when someone doesn’t want you to recognize it.” Nonetheless, he says that had he been stationed at an airport security checkpoint on the morning of September 11, 2001, he probably could have plucked Mohamed Atta out of a crowd. In the real world, the TSA’s behavior detection officers have yet to make such a dramatic catch. Of the 2 billion passengers who traveled through airports where the behavior-scanning program was deployed between 2004 and 2008, 152,000 were flagged for further examination.
Of those, fewer than 1,110 were arrested. Most were undocumented aliens, had outstanding warrants, or were carrying fake documents or drugs.Full article here
Patriot Act fails on House floor — but it will be back
A plan that would have seen the House of Representatives extend controversial provisions of the Patriot Act with little debate failed Tuesday night, as a group of Republicans joined a majority of Democrats in voting no.The House voted 277 to 148 for the Patriot Act extension — 23 votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass it under a procedure that allows bills that aren’t controversial to pass quickly.
But it appears the bill was controversial enough to convince some two dozen tea party-backed Republican freshmen to join a majority of Democrats in voting against it, The Hill reported.
The measure is now expected to return to the House floor for a regular vote that would require a simple majority to pass. If House members vote then as they did Tuesday, the extension will pass easily.Full article here
