Gunny G: Do Marines Surrender? A controversial subject. Now and then this question comes up, but usually Marines seem to have little in the way of facts for their assumptions, etc. Nor is there a complete summing up of the subject in any one place under one title; but the info is out there, though somewhat piecemeal. George Smith's book, "Carlson's Raid," devotes an entire chapter, for instance, to the surrender note controversy re Carlson's atte … Read More

Alex Jones: The Name Bill O’Reilly Dare Not Speak

March 5, 2011 Leave a comment

…O’Reilly knows who Jones is. Fox News pays close attention to the Alex Jones Show. Fox darling Glenn Beck takes most of his licks from Alex Jones, a fact recently pointed out by Rolling Stone.

Fox is a dinosaur in decline. Just a couple years ago, O’Reilly had an audience of three million. It has since dwindled to a million.

People are tired of arrogant and preening hot air bags like O’Reilly.

Millions are flocking to the web and alternative media to get their information and news. The success of the Alex Jones Show bugs Media Matters, the establishment Democrat funded and controlled research and propaganda center that takes money from globalists like George Soros.

Media Matter is the “liberal” voice of Wall Street and the banksters, the very force that is destroying America. It is the left side of the false right-left paradigm. It is headed up by the warmonger John Podesta, a former Clintonite.

His Center for American Progress enthusiastically advocates mass murder in Afghanistan, a fact once again demonstrating that establishment Democrats and Republicans are on the same page when it comes to slaughtering brown people in distant foreign lands in the name of globalism and the international loan sharks…………………………………….

Secession and Liberty ~ Thomas DiLorenzo…

March 5, 2011 Leave a comment

…After the war Jefferson Davis was imprisoned in the harshest of conditions but was never tried for treason, and for good reason: The federal government knew that it had no constitutional case against secession, as Charles Adams describes in his brilliant book, When in the Course of Human Events.

After his release from prison Jefferson Davis wrote what would have been his legal defense of secession in the form of a two-volume book, The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government. The centralization of governmental power not only leads to the looting and plundering of the taxpaying class by the parasitic class; it also slowly destroys freedom of speech and the free exchange of ideas. One of the first things every tyrannical government does is to monopolize the educational system in order to brainwash the young and bolster its political power. As soon as Lee surrendered at Appomatox the federal government began revising history to teach that secession was illegitimate.

This was all a part of Lincoln’s “revolution” which overthrew the federal system of government created by the founding fathers and put into motion the forces of centralized governmental power. Peaceful secession and nullification are the only means of returning to a system of government that respects rather than destroys individual liberty.

As Frank Choderov wrote in 1952: “If for no other reason, personal pride should prompt every governor and state legislator to take a secessionist attitude; they were not elected to be lackeys of the federal bureaucracy.”……………

“…If American citizens are to resist the rush to Obammunism they must first give up on the fantasy that the Republican Party is anything but another cabal of crooks, conmen and clowns, just like the Democratic Party. ” ~The Rush Towards Socialism — and How To Stop It by Thomas DiLorenzo

…If American citizens are to resist the rush to Obammunism they must first give up on the fantasy that the Republican Party is anything but another cabal of crooks, conmen and clowns, just like the Democratic Party.

The only realistic route to freedom, including a restoration of genuine free enterprise, is through the devolution of power away from Washington, D.C. via peaceful secession and nullification, the original American ideals.

Thomas Jefferson understood that democracy could never work in a country as large as the U.S., let alone one with more than 300 million people. In a January 29, 1804 letter to Dr. Joseph Priestly he wrote: “Whether we remain one confederacy, or form into Atlantic and Mississippi confederacies, I believe not very important to the happiness of either part. Those of the western confederacy will be as much our children & descendants as those of the eastern.”

On the topic of secession, Jefferson continued: “[D]id I now foresee a separation at some future day, yet I should feel the duty & the desire to promote the western interests as zealously as the eastern, doing all the good for both portions of our future family which should fall within my power.”

When the New England Federalists were threatening secession, Jefferson wrote to his friend John C. Breckinridge on August 12, 1803 that if New England seceded and created a second confederacy, “God bless them both if it be for their good, but separate them, if it is better.”Unlike Lincoln, Jefferson did not believe in threatening “bloodshed” in the case of a “separation” or secession. He understood that such behavior would be a moral abomination and an unimaginable act of barbarianism.

A civilized society does not wage total war on “our children,” as Jefferson described the future citizens of a new state formed by an act of secession.

Yet it is Lincoln, not Jefferson, who is portrayed by American court historians as a kindly, benevolent, and charitable angel…………………..

The Rush Towards Socialism — and How To Stop It by Thomas DiLorenzo

March 5, 2011 Leave a comment

…What can be done? How can this rush toward totalitarian socialism be stopped? Will the Republicans find another old, angry geezer to appeal to the angry white male vote?

How about another mumbling and incompetent Bush family heir? Will there be another Reagan who will talk libertarian while governing more like a European Social Democrat?

Will they trot out another old “war hero” who will plunge us into war with Iran, North Korea, China, or whomever, to divert our attention away from the economic mess government has placed us in? These are the likely alternatives if we cling to the fantasy that “throwing the bums out” at election time leads to something other than another group of slightly different bums.

The fact is that the American people have been servants or slaves to their government for generations. It wasn’t always that way. When the Adams administration enforced the Sedition Act that made criticism of the federal government illegal, Jefferson and Madison responded with the Virginia and Kentucky Resolves of 1798 that clearly stated that the people did not intend to allow the enforcement of this unconstitutional law within those two states.

Section One of Jefferson’s Kentucky Resolve stated, for example, that “the several States composing the United States of America, are not united on the principles of unlimited submission to their General Government . . .” Other states supported Jefferson and Madison in their defense of free speech….

What a ‘Hate Group’ Hates” by Thomas DiLorenzo | Today’s Lead Story

March 5, 2011 Leave a comment

The main source of the lies about me that were told by Congressman William Lacy Clay D-Big Banks at Congressman Ron Paul’s Fed hearing on February 9 was the far left-wing, big government-worshipping hate group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Referring to one of its laughingly-named “intelligence reports,” the SPLC misinformed Clay that I “work for” an alleged “hate group” called The League of the South.

I do not, and never have. I did lecture to some summer seminar students about nineteenth century economic policy at the invitation of Professors Donald Livingston of Emory University and Clyde Wilson of the University of South Carolina over a decade ago under the auspices of the League of the South Institute, which they were trying to get started. Hate was not one of the lecture topics at that summer seminar for students……………………………..

Oswald Wanted to Protect Kennedy, Claims Secret Lover

November 22nd, 1963 is a day Americans can never forget. That was the day when President Kennedy was assassinated by the supposedly lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald. Shortly after, Oswald himself was killed on national television. Oswald’s name has been seared into the national consciousness as the ultimate traitor, but in the new memoir Me & Lee: How I Came to Know, Love and Lose Lee Harvey Oswald by his girlfriend Judyth Vary Baker, the hypothetical killer actually went to Dallas to try to prevent the assassination!

According to Baker, Oswald told her early in November that Kennedy would be killed at Dealey Plaza. He knew this because he had been invited to join the assassination team, as well as an abort team that would try to interfere with the shooting.

He had infiltrated the former team with hopes of exposing the players, but once events were set in motion he knew the operatives would not hesitate to kill his entire family and anyone else he knew including Judyth if he didn’t play along.

“Know the enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy, but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal.

If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril.” – Sun TzuWednesday at approximately 3:20 PM at the Frankfurt Airport a 21 year old man approached a group of American servicemen boarding a bus heading to Ramstein Airbase.

Gunny G: Just Where Did The Term “Leatherneck” Originate?

March 5, 2011 Leave a comment

“It is questionable whether the origin of the term “Leatherneck” can be accepted as a legitimate member of the family of legends. More like a tradition, it is. For there can be no doubt of the origin, considering that U. S. Marines of three generations wore leather collars. It is as obvious as the nickname “Red” for a recruit with carrot-colored hair and freckles.

Now accepted by Webster as a synonym for Marine, the term “Leatherneck” was derived from a leather stock once worn around the neck by both American and British Marines–and soldiers also. Beginning in 1798, “one stock of black leather and clasp” was issued to each U. S. Marine annually.

This stiff leather collar, fastened by two buckles at the back, measured nearly three and a half inches high, and it prevented the neck movement necessary for sighting along a barrel. It supposedly improved military bearing, by forcing the chin high, although General George F. Elliott, recalling its use after the Civil War, said it made the wearers appear “like geese looking for rain.”

The stock was dropped as an article of Marine uniform in 1872, after surviving through the uniform changes of 1833, 1839, and 1859. But by then it was a part of American vocabulary, a word preserved, like so many words, beyond its original meaning.
[top]
Etymology of the Word “Leatherneck”

The following material is from

http://wilton.net/etmya.htm

, a list of etymologies of various words. Minor editorial changes have been made.

The chief dispute over the origin of this slang term for a marine is whether in originated in the Royal Marines or the U.S. Marines. The term is a reference to the high, leather collars that were once a part of marines’ uniforms in both countries.
Although Mencken and Morris recount the tale that British sailors called marines leathernecks not because of their collars, but because marines washed only their faces, omitting the rest of their bodies, resulting in an unwashed and leathery neck.

Mencken comes squarely down on the British-origin side, stating that the term crossed the Atlantic during the First World War. He may be right about the British origin, but his dates are clearly wrong. Lighter’s earliest American citation is from 1907, too early for the WWI crossing. The earliest unambiguous citation is a reference to the Royal Marines, dating from 1889-90. But Lighter has a British citation from 1823 that refers to U.S. Marines and their “leather neckcloths.”

Complicating the arguments of those who claim an American origin, is the fact that the U.S. Marines abandoned their leather neck stocks in 1875, some 32 years before the first attested American usage of the term. It is possible of course, if unlikely, that the slang usage survived those years unrecorded.
Partridge suggests that it may be related to boot-neck, another term for a Royal Marine that dates from the mid-nineteenth century.”

Zakaria: America is Doomed Because It Fails to Embrace Globalism | EUTimes.net

It is no mistake Obama was spotted reading Zakaria’s The Post-American World. The book argues that America is in decline and the sort of “authoritarian modernization” at work in the slave labor gulag of China is all the rage. For Obama, reading the book – and being photographed with it – was a natural.

His administration, after all, is stacked with CFR members, globalists, and Goldman Sachs cronies…….

WE NEED A REVOLUTION, NOT A MOVEMENT ~ By Chuck Baldwin WE NEED A REVOLUTION, NOT A MOVEMENT By Chuck Baldwin August 27, 2010 NewsWithViews.com The elections of 2008 (and the early elections of 2010) produced two significant phenomena: the "Ron Paul Revolution," and the "Tea Party Movement." And, mark it down: both of them will have profound effects upon the upcoming November elections–and upon the 2012 elections as well. Obama Wants Higher Gas Prices ~ “So the question becomes: Will the media ignoring the rise in gas prices be able to keep that from becoming a major factor in people’s minds over the economy and Obama’s role in it? “

March 5, 2011 1 comment

RUSH: As we pointed out yesterday, 15 stories, negative stories blaming Bush for the gasoline price rise in 2007 and 2008.

One story on Obama for every 15 Bush stories.

So the question becomes: Will the media ignoring the rise in gas prices be able to keep that from becoming a major factor in people’s minds over the economy and Obama’s role in it?

Remember, now, everything is focused on the reelection in 2012.

Robert Reich Calls for Class War

March 5, 2011 2 comments

REICH: It also breeds a kind of anger. I mean, so many middle-class people, lower middle-class people, working-class people, are frustrated. Republicans are very good at channeling that anger toward what? Government, immigrants, public employees. Well, an angry population and an angry populace could just as easily turn their anger toward the very rich. Again, it is in the interest of the people at the top to actually call for a more equitable distribution of the gains of economic growth and a better tax system: a tax system that is fair.

RUSH: He’s talking in terms of an actual war. He’s telling the rich, “You better give up the money before people with pitchforks come to your house and get it from you.” He’s saying you rich people, you better willingly give it up because these people are soon gonna figure out how to get into your house and steal it from you and you’d feel a lot safer if you gave it up. He’s actually saying this.Robert Reich arguing the rich should welcome redistributing more of their income to prevent an angry American populace from turning on them, as though if it were to happen he would encourage it. That’s where we are on the American left. By the way, isn’t that already happening? Isn’t that’s what’s happening in Wisconsin? Can we be honest? Isn’t this sort of what all this is about, all these people occupying the Capitol building and demanding? But it’s not the rich they’re demanding it from, is it? It’s average Americans. Average Americans, many of whom are underemployed, unemployed, or what have you, isn’t that who these teachers and public employees are saying give us more, give us more, you fund our health care, you fund our retirement, but they’re not saying it to the rich, are they? It’s what the king of Saudi Arabia is doing. It’s what Khadafy is doing.
