Obama has embarked on a tour to keep you distracted from the 800 pound gorilla in the room – the staggering national debt and the recent downgrading of the nation’s creditworthiness.

Emerson visited Thoreau in jail and asked, “Henry, what are you doing in there?” Thoreau replied, “Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?”

Emerson visited Thoreau in jail and asked, “Henry, what are you doing in there?” Thoreau replied, “Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?”

Imprisoned for a night

[13] “Civil Disobedience” was Thoreau’s response to his 1846 imprisonment for refusing to pay a poll tax that violated his conscience. He exclaimed in “Civil Disobedience,”

Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. It is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the right. The only obligation which I have a right to assume is to do at any time what I think right.

[14] Imprisonment was Thoreau’s first direct experience with state power and, in typical fashion, he analyzed it:

The State never intentionally confronts a man’s sense, intellectual or moral, but only his body, his senses. It is not armed with superior wit or honesty, but with superior physical strength. I was not born to be forced. I will breathe after my own fashion. Let us see who is the strongest.

– Judi McLeod Tuesday, April 19, 2011 imageRunning an independent news site these days is like finding yourself in a swamp. Is that a croc up at the next bend, or just another log?

Out in deep cyberspace, It’s difficult to know who all the players are and what team they’re playing on. Sometimes it’s the enemy sporting the jersey of members of the home team.

People, it would seem, will do most anything to drive their point across. If they knock your wind out sliding into home plate, “Tough luck, buddy.”

Alarmists lighting their fuses along the railway line can be as treacherous as the seated government.

Added to the latest fright front are warnings coming from websites made to look like FEMA-sponsored ones, going into great detail purportedly to prepare people to take cover from a coming calamity: The Big One Worldwide Internet style.

At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, “Get used to it” – and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to “get a more fuel-efficient car.”

The Obamas behave as if they were sharecroppers living in a trailer and hit the Powerball, but instead of getting new tires for their trailer and a new pickup truck, they moved to Washington.

And instead of making possum pie, with goats and chickens in the front yard, they’re spending and living large at taxpayer expense – opulent vacations, gala balls, resplendent dinners and exclusive command performances at the White Housegrand date nights, golf, basketball, more………….. golf, exclusive resorts and still more golf.

White House Explains Obama’s Flip-Flop on Signing Statements Monday, April 18, 2011 By Fred Lucas

(CNSNews.com) – The White House defended President Barack Obama’s use of a so-called “signing statement” for the fiscal year 2011 budget compromise even though candidate Obama said in 2008: “We’re not going to use signing statements as a way of doing an end-run around Congress.”

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that back in 2008 Obama, meant the president should not abuse signing statements–not that he was against ever using signing statements.

“He never said he was opposed to all signing statements,” Carney told reporters on Monday. “We’ve pointed to numerous statements in the campaign where he made clear that every president must maintain the right, of course, must maintain the right, to have signing statements, to raise constitutional concerns or objections about the laws passed by Congress that he signs into law.”

Obama’s signing statement was in response to provisions in the budget compromise, reached on April 9 between Obama and congressional leaders, that dealt with funding of four White House “czars,” a provision to block funding for transferring terror suspects held at the Guantanamo Bay prison inside the United States, and to transferring Gitmo detainees to other countries………………..

Conservative talker Glenn Beck is revealing his future plans after he leaves his Fox News Channel TV show — talking for the first time about how he will quit New York City and focus his media efforts on a younger audience. Beck announced this weekend that he has sold his mansion in suburban Connecticut, which had been listed for more than a year. He had been asking $4 million.

“The last thing I will be doing, I will be leaving New York City. As we build a new media I’m not building it in New York,” Beck said. He has not divulged where he will relocate.

Beck said his production company, Mercury Radio Arts, is going to develop a research department “that will utilize the idle brains that we have — retired CIA and military.

“What you’re going to see in a few months is a new way to communicate with each other.” He added that he is going to “build a way to deliver news directly to the youth of America.”

There has never been a greater “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE” issue facing our country !

What better time for Trump to make a PUBLIC DEMAND to see Obama‘s birth records ! Obama recently stated that he was “born in Hawaii“. Dr. Fukino purportedly stated he was delivered in Hawaii by a “doctor”. I believe these statements warrant affirmative action in the form of a political ultimatum, defined as:

“A final demand or set of terms made by one party to to another to settle a dispute, the failure to comply or rejection of which may serve as the equivalent of a guilty plea.”

If Mr. Trump authoritatively and publicly states (as only he can) that he wants to END THE BIRTHER CONTROVERSY on national television, set forth in the above terms as an appeal to the President AND the nation, perhaps on FOX news, his comments couldn’t help but gain unprecedented national attention.

Mr. Obama needs a deadline, period !

Without this, the Birther Issue perpetuates ‘forever’ !

Regardless of your political affiliation or personal views, no one can……………

After watching this NIST video, I feel a lot better about the benefits of having all my personal business tied together through a government-administered national internet ID program. We’ll all be able to finally get rid of the frustrating inconvenience of forgetting passwords, and replace it with a totalitarian dictatorship that knows our every move. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me.

Besides, when the econazi internationalist police state finally starts getting their gulag program off the ground, I sure wouldn’t want the authorities to not know where to find me.

And I sure wouldn’t worry about the security of my personal data in the government’s hands. Remember how apologetic they were when their cash-for-clunkers website infected every computer that used it? (Video at the link)

Before I sat down to write this article, I pinched myself just to make sure I was awake and today’s subject wasn’t some weird dream. But alas, talking heads on both sides of the political spectrum really are seriously entertaining the possibility of President Donald Trump.

At the Daily Beast, Jim DeFede reports on why several Florida Tea Partiers have said they’re backing the Donald:

“We need a real businessman,” said Linda Kogelman, 63, a retired postal worker. “The lawyers don’t know how to run the country. They bow down to too many people.” Kogelman said no one else in the Republican field excites her.

“There is no one there,” she continued. “Romney is old hat. Newt is old hat. It’s just the same old same old. We need new blood.”

Her husband, Ken, 64, who closed his crane business in 2009 because of the downturn in the economy, nodded in agreement.

“They’ve destroyed this country,” he spit. Who?

“The Democrats.”………………………..

Standing nearby, 78-year-old Richard Walters was holding on to a letter he had written. He was hoping to be able to hand it to Trump.

Liberal Democrats were often befuddled by President Reagan‘s “Teflon presidency.” By their lights, Reagan could commit the most heinous acts, but their criticisms were usually shrugged off by the American people, who judged him a “nice guy” who deserved the benefit of the doubt. President Obama has enjoyed something similar during his first 2 1/2 years in office. Even as public opposition mounted to his policies — Obamacare, the failed economic stimulus program, cap and trade, skyrocketing government deficits — Obama retained a reserve of public good will reflected in consistently strong personal favorability ratings. People who didn’t like his policies generally still saw Obama as a likeable guy, somebody they would enjoy having over for dinner with the family.

Standard Poor’s on Monday downgraded the outlook for the United States to negative, saying it believes there’s a risk U.S. policymakers may not reach agreement on how to address the country’s long-term fiscal pressures. “Because the U.S. has, relative to its ‘AAA’ peers, what we consider to be very large budget deficits and rising government indebtedness and the path to addressing these is not clear to us, we have revised our outlook on the long-term rating to negative from stable,” the agency said in a statement.

In an interview with CNBC, David Beers, SP’s global head of sovereign ratings, said the agency has been “struck increasingly by the difference in how other governments are dealing with fiscal consolidation.”

“The U.S. to us looks to be an increasing outlier in that context,” Beers added.

As Kevin Williamson writes, this downgrade isn’t the opening act of our downfall….it’s the fat lady singing: (h/t Nan)

As one investment strategist put it to me this morning: We’ve been watching this train go by for a while now, and this is the caboose. …A little over a year ago, the markets already were telling us that the government’s story about how it is finally going to fix its finances is pure fiction. Yields on U.S. Treasury bonds went higher than those on a number of blue-chip corporate bonds, leading your obedient servant to remark:

[snip]

Stealth tax hikes, no cuts in spending, no more drilling for oil, higher energy costs, higher costs for staples because of those higher energy costs…add these kinds of things together and you have to come to the conclusion that the man isn’t serious about fixing anything.

Former green jobs czar Van Jones spoke to the attendees of the global warming conference Power Shift 2011 this weekend. During his remarks, which can be viewed in full here, he went off on an odd diatribe about how our society is powered by death. He says that because fossil fuels are made of dead things that we shouldn’t be surprised burning them brings death in the form of global warming, oil spills, asthma, and cancer.

Yea. He says that we need to replace these dead forms of energy with the “living sun” and wind power. Because, somehow, we are the Saudi Arabia of solar and wind power……………………..

Ronald Reagan and the so-called Reagan Revolution have come under the critical hammer of scholars for some time now. But the black nationalist Malcolm X – now called a civil rights leader, though he never was one – is finally beginning to achieve such position under the scholarly microscope. The reason that this is only happening nearly 50 years after his assassination is simple: Those bullying and ruthlessly maudlin ideologues who for so long preferred posturing to thought began to die off and the people victimized by them and other kinds of hustlers for decades are now beginning to grow up – and speak up.

Any high-quality work that comes out of the world of ethnic studies, or is focused on ethnic concerns, is more often than not a condemnation of………………

Gary Busey may have gotten the ax on “The Celebrity Apprentice” Sunday night, but the actor has no hard feelings towards Donald Trump.

On Monday, he went on “The Today Show” and said that the mogul has what it takes to be president. Said Busey, “I think he would absolutely be a good president because he knows this country and he knows about this situation we’re in now.” The contestant, who had nothing nice to say about his former “Apprentice” teammates, also had a few kind words for President Obama. “I have great respect for the sitting president, Barack Obama. I will not dismiss that,” said Busey…………………

As of noon Monday, Barack Obama has failed to make a public or written statement on the massive tornado outbreak that pummeled the South this past weekend, killing 43 Americans and wrecking hundreds of homes and businesses. Also, there was no mention on the White House Web site about the tornadoes.

Instead, Obama played his 64th round of golf Sunday.

However, Obama did take time to make a private phone call to Gov. Bev Perdue of the politically key state to his reelection bid and host of his 2012 Democratic National Convention, North Carolina. Gov. Perdue announced the call, claiming Obama pledged “whatever it takes to rebuild North Carolina.”

There was no readout by the White House about the call.

No worries though. The Obama media refused to call Obama out on this.

The Washington Times is the only news outlet that mention Obama’s golf outing.

The White House Dossier blog also noted Obama’s public silence this morning.

The lack of a public statement on the torndaoes by the White House was first noted on Free Republic last night.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms falls under the U.S. Justice Department. Have they been knowingly aiding and abetting the enemy? If so, does that constitute treason against the United States of America?

(Apr. 17, 2011) — The UK Daily Mail Online has reported that a senior agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms came forward last month claiming that the ATF has been “allowing guns to slip across the border and fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

CBS News interviewed ATF senior agent John Dodson, who stated that his instructions were to allow guns to “walk” across the Mexican border. Dodson described his assignment as emanating from the U.S. Justice Department. Although the Justice Department has denied that the operations took place, CBS states that “Dodson believes there are other ATF operations going on that have done the same thing.”…………………………….

President Obama leads Donald Trump by 15 percentage points in a hypothetical 2012 match-up, but the president is unable to top the 50% level of support even against an opponent some are deriding as a joke.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that the president earns support from 49% of Likely Voters nationwide, while Trump attracts the vote from 34%. Given that choice, 12% would vote for some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Only 65% of Republican voters would vote for Trump over Obama. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 48% prefer Obama, 25% Trump, and 20% would opt for some other candidate……………………..

Both of the major political parties in the U.S. long ago adopted the rhetoric of the socialist Left with regard to tax deductions. The mortgage interest deduction, the state and local taxes deduction, and all others, are denigrated either as “loopholes” that need to be slammed shut or as sources of needless confusion.

A November 8, 2004 Associated Press story about impending Bush administration tax reform proposals gave a glimpse of the latest round of socialistic rhetoric to come out of Washington. The Bush administration, the AP reports, wants “to simplify the nation’s tax laws” by eliminating tax deductions, but the AP warns that such proposals are often thwarted by evil “Washington lobbyists determined to protect special [tax] breaks for their clients.”

In his first post-election press conference, President Bush said he wanted tax reform that was “fair without tax loopholes for special interests” and that was also “revenue neutral,” i.e., would not cause a reduction in total tax revenues…………………………

TheDC Exclusive: Conservatives hit Beck for taking content without attribution

By Matthew Boyle – The Daily Caller 5:52 AM 04/18/2011

A number of conservative activists and bloggers say they’re furious at media magnate Glenn Beck for what they call content theft. Over the past several years, Beck has relied on video, audio and written content from others to fill his radio and television shows, as well as his websites. Often he has credited his fellow conservatives for their work. Yet in many other instances say dozens of conservative journalists who spoke to The Daily Caller, he has not, often taking elaborate steps to cloak the origins of the material.

Publisher Andrew Breitbart has seen a number of his stories surface on various Beck media properties over the past few years. While he describes himself as “grateful for the many times he has credited me and my sites,” Breitbart says that “sometimes he also uses other peoples’ work without crediting them, making it appear as though it were his own. But especially since adopting ‘The Truth Has No Agenda’ slogan – and trying to deliberately re-position himself as the pious conscience and judge of many of those he took content from – he has exposed himself to his new motto’s unforgiving standard.”

By any standard, Beck seems unusually reliant on the work of others, and unusually reluctant to credit it. In an interview with TheDC, Roger L. Simon, CEO of Pajamas Media, suggested that Beck has committed the journalistic equivalent of a notorious crime. “It is not a question of just doing it right the majority of the time. It is a question of doing it right always,” Simon said. “Doris Kearns Goodwin is forever a fraud in my estimation because she has been caught plagiarizing once. If you rob a bank once, you still robbed a bank.”……………….

Maybe everyone else has figured this out already, but:

1: Donald Trump the Republican/Conservative/Tea Partier is not the Donald Trump we have known; neither is Donald Trump the politician.

2: Donald Trump the pitchman believes that a good salesman can sell anything.

3: About a year ago I speculated, very tongue-in-cheek, that if the mid-term election was as bad for the Democrats as it promised to be (it was worse), the Democratic Powers-That-Be might suddenly become the new ‘birthers‘.

So now we have Trump the sudden Republican, raising the birth issue as an essential part of a campaign that’s ostensibly right-wing. Is it too paranoid to see a fine Democratic hand in this, with Trump as the front man for Democrats who want to remove the disastrous Obama from the scene without a brutal and chancy primary fight?

And not incidentally to disrupt the conservative movement with a false savior?

If that’s the case, then the putative Democrats behind Trump must already be able to produce evidence of Obama’s ineligibility when the time comes for Trump to ‘discover’ it. Also, the terrific MSM access Trump has enjoyed may be explained by something besides his entertainment value.

This is all paranoid speculation, to be sure, but it hangs together like the very best paranoid speculation should. And every so often, PS turns out not to be BS…………………

Can President Obama be defeated in 2012? No. He can’t.

I am going on record as saying that President Barak Obama will win a second term. The media won’t tell you this because a good election campaign means hundreds of millions (or in Obama’s case billions) of dollars to them in advertising. But the truth is, there simply are no conditions under which Barak Obama can be defeated in 2012.

The quality of the Republican candidate doesn’t matter. Obama gets reelected.

Nine percent unemployment? No problem. Obama will win.

Gas prices moving toward five dollars a gallon? He still wins.

The economy soars or goes into the gutter. Obama wins.

War in the Middle East? He wins a second term.

America’s role as the leading Superpower disappears? Hurrah for Barak Obama!

The U.S. government rushes toward bankruptcy, the dollar continues to sink on world markets and the price of daily goods and services soars due to inflation fueled by Obama’s extraordinary deficit spending? Obama wins handily.

You are crazy Williams. Don’t you understand how volatile politics can be when overall economic, government, and world conditions are declining? Sure I do. And that’s why I know Obama will win.

The American people are notoriously ignorant of economics. And economics is the key to why Obama should be defeated. Even when Obama’s policies lead the nation to final ruin, the majority of the American people are going to believe the bait-and-switch tactics Obama and his supporters in the media will use to explain why it isn’t his fault. After all, things were much worse than understood when he took office. Obama’s reelection is really a very, very simple math problem. Consider the following:

On April 13th, President Barack Obama abandoned all pretense of being presidential. Not only was his response to Representative Paul Ryan’s budget proposal not reasonable, it was dishonest and childish.

Agree or disagree with his ideas, Ryan (R-WI) has done the heavy lifting on the 2012 budget and he did so knowing that it would immediately make him a target for those on the left. This alone should bring to him some well-deserved respect. The President, rather than give a nod to Ryan’s work and then list where he disagrees simply attacked the character of Congressman Ryan and other Republicans and then pretended he has a legitimate budget proposal.

The President makes some pretty wild assumptions in his – well, we’ll call it a “budget” for lack of a better word. How likely are President Obama’s assumptions to become reality?

35 Statistics That Show The Average American Family Has Been Broke Down, Tore Down, Beat Down, Busted And Disgusted By This Economy

April 17, 2011

The economic statistics that you are about to read are incredibly shocking, but they are also very, very real. Tonight there are going to be millions of men and women all across America that cannot sleep because they are consumed with anxiety about their financial problems.

Even as you read this, there are a lot of parents out there that are trying to figure out how to explain to their children why their homes are being taken away. There are also hordes of very hard working Americans that are incredibly frustrated because they have sent out thousands of resumes and yet they can’t seem to get a job interview. Have you ever been at a point where you couldn’t pay the mortgage or put food on the table for your family? It can be an absolutely soul-crushing experience.

In fact, there are some cities in the U.S. that have been so utterly devastated by this economy that it seems as though virtually everyone has had the hope sucked right out of them.

The mainstream media is trying to convince all of us that we are in an economic recovery, but that is a lie. The truth is that we are in the middle of a long-term economic decline and the greatest economy in the history of the world is dying right in front of our eyes.

The average American family is under more economic stress right now than at any other time since the Great Depression. Just check out the following statistics…………………

RedState co-founder Josh Trevino has noticed the following: back in January, Paul Krugman was one of many drooling idiot leftists devoid of any moral compass who tried to pin the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords on a lack of Republican civility. Even though, by the time Krugman’s column ran, it was clear that Giffords’ shooter was a mentally disturbed individual whose assassination plot was not motivated by coherent political theory of any stripe, Krugman was not about to let facts get in the way of a good partisan narrative:

It’s true that the shooter in Arizona appears to have been mentally troubled. But that doesn’t mean that his act can or should be treated as an isolated event, having nothing to do with the national climate.

Yes, Krugman claimed, without any appreciable sense

of shame, that a man who was seriously mentally ill was merely a symptom of – no kidding – “toxic rhetoric.” Well, three whole months have passed since Krugman peddled this tripe and apparently, Krugman’s sense of shame hasn’t become any more well-developed. Now he’s got a piece out on Paul Ryan’s deficit reduction plan. The title – the TITLE – of this piece? Let’s Not be Civil.

According to Paul Krugman, Paul Krugman has just called for the assassination of Paul Ryan.

We continue to be astounded by the emergence of the pro-default meme within financial circles.

Previously it was Chris Whalen and Dean Baker taking the stance that the US could default with minimal negative ramifications.

Now it’s someone at a major bank: BofA‘s credit strategist Jeffrey Rosenberg, whose note from Friday is titled The Case For Default (via @dutch_book).

He explicitly rejects the doom camp, and thinks temporary default could be managed without significant market interruption.

We don’t find his argument to be all that convincing.

While Southern states reeled from a massive tornado outbreak that killed several dozen people, Barack Obama played his 64th round of golf as president today. The White House pool reporter filed reports on Obama’s departure for the links at Andrews Air Force Base and on his return to the White House. However there are no reports by the media informing the public about Obama’s golf outing.

The closest to a news report is a post on Twitter by CBS News Radio White House correspondent Mark Knoller. Keith Koffler at the blog White House Dossier also did a post based on the pool report.

Knoller also tweeted that Obama spent four hours on the golf course today.

The South got ripped by tornadoes this weekend, gas prices are hitting $4 per gallon, unemployment claims are up, the budget deficit is still out of control, the war in Libya is a cluster as is Afghanistan where our troops are still getting killed.

Yet the media gives Obama a pass by not doing its basic job of telling the American people how Obama spent his day.

THIS JUST IN! North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue says she spoke with Obama today and that he pledged “whatever it takes to rebuild North Carolina.” The governor did not say whether Obama was golfing when they spoke today.

On “The Sean Hannity Show” Friday night and at a Florida tea-party rally Saturday, Donald Trump elaborated on the charge that he has been making the past two weeks, namely that Bill Ayers helped write Barack Obama’s acclaimed 1995 memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”

Yet despite what Obama-friendly biographer David Remnick had previously called the “diabolical potency” of the charge, the mainstream media have resolutely failed to investigate its accuracy.

Trump all but dares them. At both stops, he emphasized the point that I make in “Deconstructing Obama”: As Trump put it to Hannity, “Without that book, [Obama] is not president.”

“Dreams” was essential to Obama’s ascendancy as “Profiles in Courage” was to John F. Kennedy’s. It served as the foundation of the genius myth on which Obama’s campaign was based.

“[Obama's] whole aura was caused by the genius of the first book,” Trump said accurately on Saturday, “which was written by Bill Ayers.”

Trump also told Hannity that “the guy who wrote the first book didn’t write the second book ['Audacity of Hope'].”

This is a point that Ayers had himself implied a few weeks back at Montclair State University when he praised “Dreams” – and claimed credit for writing it, albeit with a wink – but dismissed “Audacity” as a “political hack book.”

Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America

by Radley Balko

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=6476

Radley Balko is a policy analyst specializing in civil liberties issues and is the author of the Cato study, “Back Door to Prohibition: The New War on Social Drinking.” Executive Summary Americans have long maintained that a man’s home is his castle and that he has the right to defend it from unlawful intruders. Unfortunately, that right may be disappearing. Over the last 25 years, America has seen a disturbing militarization of its civilian law enforcement, along with a dramatic and unsettling rise in the use of paramilitary police units (most commonly called Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT) for routine police work. The most common use of SWAT teams today is to serve narcotics warrants, usually with forced, unannounced entry into the home. These increasingly frequent raids, 40,000 per year by one estimate, are needlessly subjecting nonviolent drug offenders, bystanders, and wrongly targeted civilians to the terror of having their homes invaded while they’re sleeping, usually by teams of heavily armed paramilitary units dressed not as police officers but as soldiers. These raids bring unnecessary violence and provocation to nonviolent drug offenders, many of whom were guilty of only misdemeanors. The raids terrorize innocents when police mistakenly target the wrong residence. And they have resulted in dozens of needless deaths and injuries, not only of drug offenders, but also of police officers, children, bystanders, and innocent suspects. This paper presents a history and overview of the issue of paramilitary drug raids, provides an extensive catalogue of abuses and mistaken raids, and offers recommendations for reform. The U.S. government will coordinate private-sector efforts to create trusted identification systems for the Internet, with the goal of giving consumers and businesses multiple options for authenticating identity online, according to a plan released by President Barack Obama’s administration.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will work with private companies to drive development and adoption of trusted ID technologies, White House officials said. The National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), released by the Department of Commerce on Friday, aims to protect the privacy and security of Internet users by encouraging a broad online authentication market in the U.S.

“The fact is that the old password and username combination we often use to verify people is no longer good enough,” Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said at an NSTIC release event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “It leaves too many consumers, government agencies and businesses vulnerable to ID and data theft.”…

The trusted ID technologies described in NSTIC would allow online users to dump passwords in favor of credentials that can be used on multiple websites. The Obama administration hopes…………………………..

The following item is being passed around in email and, apparently falsely, is being attributed to Dr. Walter Williams of George Mason University, sometimes heard filling in on Limbaugh‘s radio program.

It is scary stuff nonetheless regardless of who wrote it:

Obama wins………

Fight Like A Girl

In using that term, Sarah Palin issued a political call to action directed at the men who rule the Republican Party:

“We didn’t elect you just to rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking Titanic,” Palin said during a rally in front of the Wisconsin statehouse in Madison. “What we need from you, GOP, is to fight.” Pointing to the national champion University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team, Palin said the GOP could learn from its resolve and “needs to learn how to fight like a girl.”

But the phrase signaled far more. Palin acknowledged what those of us who have followed the Tea Party movement have known for a long time: Women have been the driving force and energy behind the Tea Party movement.

But even more than that, Palin took a phrase usually considered an insult and turned it into a compliment.

In one sentence, Palin did more to advance the cause of women in politics than all the Women’s Studies Ph.D’s in all the universities in this country combined.

Update: Sissy Willis reminds us of the day. Be sure to watch the video of pre-nominee “drill baby drill” talk. I just paid $68 to fill my car this morning. How much longer until they come out with one of those automobile windmills?

Future historians will describe the Democratic Party’s demonization of the Tea Party movement as a major political blunder that put them squarely on the wrong side of America’s 21st Century financial crisis.

When Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on a conference call that he’d been instructed by “the caucus” to use the word “extreme” when referring to the Tea Party, he carelessly revealed the previously obvious but unacknowledged truth. Democrats have a coordinated plan to demonize the Tea Party movement (TPM) via their oft-repeated meme that implicitly characterizes law-abiding citizens as terrorists — as with fundamentalist Islam or domestic militias, contemporary lone gunman or historical mass murderers (recall Nancy Pelosi‘s comment about Nazis in conjunction with TPM gatherings).

Using “extreme” is an extreme tactic on the part of Democrats. And a dumb one, guaranteed to galvanize the TPM into a stronger and more determined effort. One might ask: How could Democrats be so brazenly stupid as to think the tactic will be widely successful, particularly with independents? Even with the support of the legacy liberal media?

Maybe they just don’t know much about early American history. They should, since many of them have law degrees. And all of them can read…or, at least, most of them.

They should know that the historical precedent for the TPM wasn’t the Tea Party event in Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773. Significant for American history as that was, and still is, it isn’t the precursor of today’s TPM. Something else was.

The Continental Association, established on October 20, 1774, was the first Tea Party-like movement in American history. On that date, Peyton Randolph, President of the First Continental Congress, signed a document on behalf of those self-identified therein as “We, his majesty’s most loyal subjects.” The document came in response to the so-called Intolerable Acts passed by the British parliament……

I highly doubt Donald Trump is presidential material, but he sure makes for one great Republican attack dog. Finally a celebrity big enough to get the attention of Americans outside of the conservative community is speaking out against Obama’s shady past. After once again raising legitimate concerns over Obama’s sham “birth certificate” during an appearance on the Fax News program Hannity, Trump expressed alarm over Obama’s real estate dealings with convicted Chicago influence peddler Antoin “Tony” Rezco.

For those of you who still haven’t heard, Obama’s Chicago home that he bought in 2005 was located on a property split into 2 parcels; one with the house and the other an adjacent side yard. The owner was willing to sell the properties separately, but only if they were purchased at the same time. Since Obama couldn’t afford to buy both, he had to find a sugar daddy to back him or he could kiss his dream home goodbye.

Obama did exactly what you would expect out of a sleazy Chicago politician………………………..

The existence of the United States as a free republic under the rule of Constitutional law, hinges on how “we the people” deal with the the issue of Obama’s eligibility to be POTUS. Remolding the US Constitution into a “living” constitution, a “plastic” constitution, a changeable constitution, is to destroy the Constitution, and the United States as a free republic.

Make no mistake, the question of Obama’s eligibility to be POTUS is of vital importance, and seeing as Donald Trump is the ONLY figure of national stature to address the issue, it is incumbent on every constitutional conservative (read that as “patriotic American”) to support Trump, until something better comes down the pike—and I don’t see anyone else coming down the road at the moment…..

A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 16 April 2011 | John SemmensPosted on Sunday, April 17, 2011 2:37:45 PM by John SemmensDespite pledges that his Administration would be “the most transparent in history,” logs of who comes and goes to confer with the President and his staff at the White House have glaring omissions.

Presidential Press Secretary Jay Carney attributed the incomplete record to “efforts to serve conflicting objectives. On the one hand, we want to be as open as possible. On the other, we want to respect an individual’s right to privacy. So, we tried to compromise by allowing those who preferred that their visits not be acknowledged to opt out of having their names recorded.”Concerns that the selective reporting of who visits with the President could undermine trust in the Administration was taken in stride by Carney.

“It basically boils down to whether you have faith in the honesty of the President,” Carney said. “If you do, you accept that some things must remain private. If you don’t, you’re going to be demanding documentary proof of everything just like the ‘birthers’ are about where the President was born. Is having to produce papers to verify stuff the kind of country we want to live in? I think not. I believe the American people trust the President to tell them what they need to know for the good of the country.” read more…

Global Research, April 21, 2011

So far, 2011 has been a tumultuous year, and we’ve only just begun. War and militarization are being passed off by mainstream media as “humanitarian intervention“; our environment and health are being compromised to protect investments and corporate interests; poverty is running rampant in every corner of the world, and yet still we are expected to pay for unjust wars and corrupt financial schemes at great expense to us and our families.

The writers who contribute articles to Global Research are dedicated to stopping this tide of disinformation and making real information available. Thanks to their commitment and sacrifice, we can start to change the system through increased awareness.

Often, however, journalists pay a high personal and professional price for telling the truth. Professional journalists committed to truth in media are invariably penalized by their corporate employers. They are pressured into accepting media disinformation as routine, as part of the job. They are encouraged to skim the surface or to convey half truths.

This is a system which rewards mediocrity. Those who lie are promised fame, funding and career advancement. Those who refuse to abide by the standards of the mainstream media are not only fired, they are blacklisted and their prospects extinguished. Journalists who have the courage to say the truth find themselves marginalized and excluded, and therefore often driven into poverty. Indeed, a considerable number of journalists who contribute to Global Research find themselves in this predicament.

Global Research has therefore initiated a fundraising campaign to assist journalists, researchers and contributors who have either lost their jobs with the mainstream media or who have been excluded from employment opportunities as professional journalists. As part of our mandate to deliver independent news and analysis to the broader public, we believe it is important to support and encourage journalists in their endeavours.

We know that our readers turn to Global Research for independent coverage of world events which is not coloured, created or manipulated by corporate, government or insitutional stakeholders. Therefore, we ask you to support us in supporting the writers who continue to bring you the material you need in order to understand what’s happening in the world around you………………

There is no more appropriate metaphor to describe the flailing hybrid corporation known as Government Motors than that provided by the report of a Chevy Cruze owner hurtling down the freeway when the steering wheel came off in his hands. At least as much as a 1.4 liter 4 cylinder power plant can be said to hurtle.

The once formidable giant corporation still sadly reflects the popular sentiment, “As GM goes, so goes the nation.” America, from all the available reports, rattles down the world’s economic, political and cultural freeways like an underpowered compact car, rudderless and apparently incapable of changing direction. It should really be a joke, but when one asks the question: What do you get when you cross the inefficiency of a labor union with the sclerosis of a federal bureaucracy? The answer could be a.) Government Motors or b.) the Obama administration or c.) both of the above.

It’s only a matter of time before the men with the strait jacket show up. In Beckistan, not only is world controlled by Soros-funded liberals, but the GOP now wants to “politically assassinate” him and his fellow truth tellers, Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin.

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck claimed that the Republican Party is out to politically assassinate him, Sarah Palin, and Michele Bachmann. [..]

Beck said, “May I just, I mean they’re going to call me a conspiracy theorist, but let’s go on a little conspiracy here, and I don’t claim to know what it is, and maybe it’s all coincidental, but I don’t believe in coincidence.

In my last post, I suggested we need to attack the structures that enable the Imperial Presidency (History Repeats Itself).

The keyboard was not yet cool from my fingers when our current president made a public declaration of his arrogance:

In a statement issued Friday night, President Obama took issue with some provisions in the budget bill – and in one case simply says he will not abide by it.

Last week the White House and congressional Democrats and Republicans were involved in intense negotiations over not only the size of the budget for the remainder of the FY2011 budget, and spending cuts within that budget, but also several GOP “riders,” or policy provisions attached to the bill.

One rider – Section 2262 — de-funds certain White House adviser positions – or “czars.” The president in his signing statement declares that he will not abide by it.

Full Story: ABC News

He simply will not abide by the lawful “will of the people”. Just a simple declaration, with nose up in the air: “I will not…………………..

Chicago–Communist Paradise of the Midwest

Posted Today at 4:20 PM

By Al Benson Jr.It seems that the “Windy City” has had a love affair with communism that goes back a long time. Originally, you can trace it back to 1860 when the Republican Party convention was held there–the convention that nominated Abraham Lincoln to run for president on the Republican ticket that year.

There were several “Forty-Eighter” socialists, refugees from the 1848 socialist revolts in Europe, there that year for the convention and some of these socialists, such as Carl Schurz, actually helped to write the Republican Party platform in 1860. In our book Red Republicans and Lincoln’s Marxists Walter Kennedy and I have noted this. On page 61 we stated: “In chapter one we noted the close ties between radical European socialists/communists and Lincoln.

In that chapter we pointed out that we are not suggesting that Lincoln was a communist, only that for some reason, these early American socialists/communists found the new Republican Party and Abraham Lincoln very attractive.” So Lincoln was nominated, ran, and won, with the help of these Forty-Eighter socialists/communists–and it started in Chicago. How fitting.

REPUBLICAN PARTY, RED FROM THE START

Many patriots these days lament that the Republican Party has “lost its way” and “gone wrong.” It has “diverged” from the fiscally responsible, small government philosophy of Republican heroes like Robert Taft whom Eisenhower’s handlers finagled out of the nomination for President in 1952. We are told that is why today’s Republican Establishment hates Dr. Ron Paul with such a passion; that they hate him because, like Taft, he is the quintessential Republican. Patriots who say that are mistaken, of course. The reason the Republican Establishment hates Dr. Paul is precisely that he is not a traditional, mainstream Republican, that his platform of freedom is an aberration. The Republican Party didn’t “go wrong,” didn’t “go left.”

It has been wrong from the beginning, from the day it was founded. From the beginning, the Republican Party has worked without deviation for bigger, more imperial government, for higher taxes, for more wars, for more totalitarianism. From the beginning, the Republican Party has been Red.

Why? In 1848, Communists rose in revolution across Europe, united by a document prepared for the purpose, entitled Manifesto of the Communist Party. Its author was a degenerate parasite named…………………………….

While you were sleeping, your industrious federal government was busy establishing new guide lines for 2011 washing machines that, according to my source, cut down on efficiency, deceive the customer into thinking hot is hot, cold is cold, and make her lights flicker.

Doing things on the sneak is a characteristic of the Obama administration that I find especially odious, and this “Energy Efficient Washing Machine” two step is cloying to say the least. My source, who is most reliable, reports she bought a new basic model, and was shocked to discover after doing her first load of laundry, “when set on HOT, the sensor automatically adds COLD along with the hot.” The warm is a mix of both and the COLD SETTING ADDS HOT AS WELL.”

One of the oldest tricks in warfare is to distract the enemy. The statists are partly succeeding in fooling us this way, with Donald Trump.

Step back, and redefine the battle. It is not a battle only against Obama.

It’s a battle against statism and against socialism. If we lose our focus, we go down.

The marxists/statists know that if they can figure out a way to stage one of their own (Trump) against another of their guys (Obama), it will take our attention away from the target, confuse us and divide us.

Evidence: Trump supported Harry Reid against the heart of the tea party, Sharron Angle. Trump wants Hillary to be Commander in Chief. He gives thousands of dollars to the most virulent leftists like that Weiner guy in Congress.

There’s more evidence that Trump could be working directly under Hillary Clinton than there is evidence he might actually care about the birth certificate.

Hugh Pickens writes

“Judge Roger Hunt has unsealed the confidential agreement between Righthaven and the Las Vegas Review-Journal that has allowed Righthaven to sue over more than 250 charities, impoverished hobby bloggers, reporters, and the newspaper’s own sources, for $150,000 each in damages and forfeiture of the sites’ domain names, and the contents of the agreement could end up being ruinous for Righthaven’s campaign of copyright lawsuits. The problem is that Stephens Media, the company that owns the Las Vegas Review-Journal, didn’t actually assign any of the rights related to copyright to Righthaven except the right to sue — and that has been found in Silvers vs. Sony Pictures to be illegal under case law. In other words, none of the important things that come with a copyright — such as the right to make copies of a work, or distribute it, or make ‘derivative works’ — were handed off to Righthaven. Only the right to sue was given, and that makes the copyright transfer bogus, argue lawyers for the Democratic Underground, which is being sued for one of its website users posting the first four paragraphs of a 34 paragraph story.”

BECK DENOUNCES “BIRTH CERTIFICATE” ISSUE AND MOCKS THOSE SEEKING THE TRUTH

by Nobarack08, blogging at Nobarack08

Why has Glenn Beck vehemently refused to discuss the questionable documentation of Obama’s purported birth in Hawaii? Is he afraid to be labeled a false patriot or, even worse, a traitor?

(Apr. 15, 2011) — Glenn Beck’s ranting about the ‘birthers’ has hit a low note again. The fact is that every time the issue of Barack Obama’s ineligibility surfaces into the news and it can’t be ignored, the media mouthpieces all come out of the closet and spew the same talking points as if on cue and competing for the same coveted media pageant title like Miss USA parading around in her swimsuit, spouting her version of world peace.

Glenn Beck, or as I liken him to the false patriot and profiteer: that’s right, false patriot.

Glenn likes to surround himself with bastions of society that tout the law and United States Constitution, but only to the point where it doesn’t conflict with his views and selling points.

Obama’s Domestic Imperialism

April 17, 2011 Leave a comment

Then, Obama delivered his transitional slight of hand; “We believe in the words of the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, ‘Through government we should do together what we cannot do for ourselves as well.’” Thanks to the Washington Examiner’s research department, we now know President Lincoln’s words in context.

The actual quote: “The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do at all, or cannot so well do, for themselves, in their separate and individual capacities. In all that the people can individually do as well for themselves, government ought not to interfere.”

I encourage President Obama to continue researching and quoting Abraham Lincoln. Let me suggest the following Lincoln statements:

One such change is to abolish the U.S. Department of Education.

On the heels of Barack Obama’s announcement of his 2012 reelection campaign, speculation has been mounting over which candidate Republicans will nominate to challenge Obama. But you won’t find the next Ronald Reagan in this group of potential candidates.

With 20 months left until the presidential election, the list of potential candidates is still long.

UC Santa Barbara political science professor Dr. Ted Anagnoson, who specializes in the study of the American presidency, explained that unlike in 2007, when Republicans and Democrats declared candidacy early in the year, in 2011 Republicans are still waiting to make official declarations of candidacy.

The Obama administration said today that it’s moving ahead with a plan for broad adoption of Internet IDs despite concerns about identity centralization, and hopes to fund pilot projects next year.

A 55-page document (PDF) released by the White House today adds a few more details to the proposal, which still remains mostly hazy and inchoate.

It offers examples of what the White House views as an “identity ecosystem,” including obtaining a digital ID from an Internet service provider that could be used to view your personal health information, or obtaining an ID linked to your cell phone that would let you log into IRS.gov to view payments and file taxes. The idea is to have multiple identity providers that are part of the same system.

Another concern: Although the White House is describing the NSTIC plan as “voluntary,” federal agencies could begin to require it for IRS e-filing, applying for Social Security or veterans’ benefits, renewing passports online, requesting federal licenses (including ham radio and pilot’s licenses), and so on. Then obtaining one of these ID would become all but mandatory for most Americans.

DIGG THIS

Over the past decade a number of researchers have attempted to document the extent to which various governments during the twentieth century committed acts of mass murder against their own citizens. The millions of deaths catalogued by such researchers as R.J. Rummel, author of Power Kills and Death by Government, and by the authors of The Black Book of Communism, are not deaths caused by foreign armies, but by all those unfortunate souls’ own governments.

The reason for all the killing, whether it is called genocide or “democide,” to use Rummel’s term, was to eliminate all opposition to the ruling regime and its ideology. In Russia, the kulaks “who resisted collectivization [of land] were shot, and the others deported,” according to The Black Book of Communism (p. 9). When the rural population of the Ukraine resisted, Stalin created a famine that killed 6 million in a few months. “Virtually identical crimes” were committed “by the regimes of Mao Zedong, Kim Il Sung, and Pol Pot,” according to The Black Book (p. 10).

In Power Kills, R. J. Rummel writes that………………………

After the 2008 election, I spent an enormous amount of time and money documenting the media-induced ignorance of Obama voters for my documentary film, “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted.” The video I shot of Obama voters on Election Day has been seen by over 2.5 million people (not including millions more via television coverage) on YouTube.

The two scientific polls I commissioned to back up the video proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that Obama voters were frighteningly misinformed about basic facts like which party controlled Congress. While McCain voters weren’t exactly “A” social studies students, at least they fared significantly better.

Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) has damning evidence that US ATF officials sanctioned or allowed the sale of assault weapons to straw purchasers. The agency was doing this on purpose. The government encouraged this. Two of the weapons ended up at the murder scene of a US border patrol agent in Arizona, Brian Terry. Obama says he and Holder knew nothing about Operation Gunrunner.

Senator Grassley spoke out on his investigation yesterday on the floor of the senate.

Between 13 and 1,700 guns got away and that’s just what has turned up so far. Several of the guns have been connected to criminal acts. Obama’s failed stimulus plan helped fund the program.

Big Sister is Watching You BY Whittaker Chambers

Miss Ayn Rand wrote The Fountainhead. Despite a generally poor press, it is said to have sold some four hundred thousand copies. Thus, it became a wonder of the book trade of a kind that publishers dream about after taxes. So Atlas Shrugged had a first printing of one hundred thousand copies.

The news about this book seems to me to be that any ordinarily sensible head could possibly take it seriously, and that apparently, a good many do. Somebody has called it: “Excruciatingly awful.” I find it a remarkably silly book. It is certainly a bumptious one. Its story is preposterous. It reports the final stages of a final conflict (locale: chiefly the United States, some indefinite years hence) between the harried ranks of free enterprise and the “looters.” These are proponents of proscriptive taxes. Government ownership, Labor, etc. etc. The mischief here is that the author, dodging into fiction, nevertheless counts on your reading it as political reality. “This,” she is saying in effect, “is how things really are. These are the real issues, the real sides. Only your blindness keeps you from seeing it, which, happily, I have come to rescue you from.”

Since a great many of us dislike much that Miss Rand dislikes, quite as heartily as she does, many incline to take her at her word………………………

Scalise says Obama violates Constitution over ‘czars’

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), the chief sponsor of the effort to defund administration-appointed advisers known as “czars,” reacted angrily Saturday to a signing statement from Obama saying he plans to keep them. In a statement emailed to The Hill, Scalise accused Obama of acting like a “dictator.”

President Obama should know that it is the courts, not the executive branch, that has the authority to determine the constitutionality of laws passed by Congress, especially considering that he agreed to this provision and signed the law himself,” Scalise said in an emailed statement.

“The President does not have the option of choosing which laws he will follow and which he will ignore,” he continued.

Scalise said that Obama’s backtracking on the czar issue will make future talks on spending and the budget more difficult.

“The president knew that the czar amendment was part of the overall budget deal he agreed to, and if he cannot be trusted to keep his word on this, then how can he be trusted as we negotiate on larger issues like federal spending and the economy,” he said.

“A bipartisan coalition in Congress agreed that President Obama was circumventing the constitution by appointing these czars without the scrutiny of Senate confirmation. The United States is not a kingdom run by a political dictator, and President Obama needs to quickly reverse course and abide by the law eliminating the czars that were part of the budget resolution agreed to by Speaker Boehner, Senator Reid, and President Obama himself,” Scalise continued.

Barack Obama’s Internet Kill Switch

Saturday, April 16, 2011 – by Anthony Wile

Anthony Wile What are the chances of a US Internet Kill Switch? Could it happen? Is it practical? The Foundation for the Advancement of Free-Market Thinking (FAFMT) and The Daily Bell are pleased to bring you a short video presentation titled, Internet Kill Switch.

The video features hard-to-believe yet true events unfolding right now in Washington D.C. to try and suppress the Internet’s ability to support the freedom of the press. Will the power elite be victorious in squelching Internet freedom? We surely hope not and will continue to support freedom of the press and the Internet-spawned advance of liberty and free-market thinking. We hope you enjoy the video and look forward to reading your feedback. Click here to watch.

Viewers, as well, are invited to add their financial support to our Foundation’s efforts to spread the word on this and other critical freedom issues. The time to act is now. Educational efforts like those being led by FAFMT via publishing efforts like the Daily Bell and outside free-market organizations it supports are critical to the expansion of freedom-awareness supported by sites and outlets on the World Wide Web.

This is a perplexing question, as it relates to the WBTS. In some ways, yes. In others, no. I, like many of you, recently (and for the 3rd or 4th time), watched Ken BurnsPBS documentary, The Civil War. Even though I have several criticisms of the Burns’ film, I still find it a fascinating piece of work and very educational. I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed watching the film, despite its shortcomings.

One of the more moving parts of this film comes near the end, as shown below. Pay close attention at about 30 seconds in and listen as historian David McCullough narrates the moving “reenactment” of Pickett’s charge at the 50th anniversary reunion at Gettysburg.

I believe one can detect the emotion in McCullough’s voice as it sounds like he almost chokes up in recounting the emotional event. I don’t think he’s acting. I don’t mind admitting that I too was moved with emotion in hearing McCullough recount the story . . .

Since Fox News host Bill O’Reilly erroneously claimed President Obama’s Connecticut-issued Social Security number was likely the result of his father having “lived in Connecticut for several years,” the cable news giant has apparently scrubbed the audio of the statement from its website.

In his viewer email segment Wednesday night, O’Reilly was asked by viewer John Knox of Arlington, Va.: “What about Obama having a Connecticut Social Security number? He never lived there.”

“His father lived in Connecticut for several years,” O’Reilly answered, adding that “babies sometimes get numbers based on addresses provided by their parents.”

Another letter from Fox viewer Ken McFadden of LaGrange, Ga., asked: “O’Reilly, will you stake your professional reputation that Mr. Obama is constitutionally eligible to be president?”

“I will, Ken,” answered O’Reilly.

Fondlers, Your Country Calls by Becky Akers

So aside from their clothing and the fact that neither man taped his exploits, there’s little that differentiates our two free-lancers’ attacks from those of the TSA’s whores. Mr. Advani was aboard “an overnight flight from Hong Kong to … Newark, N.J.” last May when he “reached under the blanket of a woman sleeping next to him … and sexually abused her. Passengers sitting behind the victim kicked her seat to alert her, prosecutors said.” When the lady “awoke, she became aware of the abuse and informed the flight crew…” Which ineluctably led to Mr. Advani’s “detain[ment]” when the plane landed.

The War State Journal’s readers are far more astute than its reporters and editors, and they’ve pointed out several problems with this story. How does a victim who slept through her abuse, so soundly that she would have missed it but for a boisterous rousing, know it really happened? How does she testify to it? And how exactly did the passengers behind her discern it through a blanket and, as one reader puts it, “the small slit in between the seats?? [sic]” And if they did, in fact, see what they think they saw, wouldn’t they have naturally assumed she was Mrs. Advani?

Contrast these murky circumstances with the TSA’s clear-cut, horrifically obvious assaults before scores of witnesses and cameras on fully sentient people who can and have loudly testified in detail to the molestation. And yet Mr. Advani, not his governmental counterparts, pled guilty this week “to a count of sexual abusive contact” – though he doesn’t seem to have ever once threatened Sleeping Beauty with a fine “of up to $11,000 and possible arrest” for resisting his advances.

Nor did Mr. Bertrand. This former Marine, 26, met a 22-year-old woman in a restaurant at Denver International Airport, where she was stranded overnight after missing her connecting flight (hmmm: do you suppose the TSA had anything to do with that delay? Did it close down her airport of departure because some lucky cuss managed to escape its pawing? Or did it hold her flight at the gate so its goons could chastise a passenger who dared question them at the checkpoint?). She says they chatted over dinner; when she left to find a secluded area for some rest, he “followed and sat next to her.

Recently by John Tyner: The Demise of the Rule of Law

I don’t like the TSA. I think what it does is an affront to liberty, to moral sensibilities, and certainly to the Constitution that supposedly defines U.S. federal power. That is not to say that I oppose transportation security; I just happen believe that the damage done by the TSA to the aforementioned list of things far outweighs whatever benefit it might be providing. As such, I would characterize it as useless. That much is probably obvious to anyone reading this, either because you’ve read my other writings or because you’re aware of my run-in with the TSA. What is probably unknown to most is that my encounter with the TSA has turned me off to reading about it and, even more so, to writing about it. Being a bit of a news junkie, I tend to remain “aware” of most major occurrences involving the TSA, but I don’t, as I imagine most people believe, go out of my way to keep up on every little detail concerning it. In fact, I tend to ignore most of the stories I see about the TSA because I get a very “resistance is futile” feeling whenever I do.

Part of the this feeling comes simply from the fact that no matter what the TSA does, no matter how badly it screws up, the (government) solution has been and will always be to throw more money at the problem. Why people accept this situation is completely incomprehensible to me. Just from a purely economic perspective, it’s preposterous. The TSA is a monopoly, and its parent, the federal government, openly and actively uses its monopoly position and power to not only prevent but prohibit competition. This is something that that same federal government makes illegal in the private sector. Moreover, the TSA continues to fail to carry out its own mission statement in which it claims that it “protects the Nation’s transportation systems …” The TSA has racked up a number of high profile failures on this front including the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, the loaded gun that cleared screening, and the failures of its own internal tests. The TSA can’t even design tests for itself that it can pass (even after the 4th or 5th try depending on which story you read). If the TSA was a private company, it’s stock would be worthless, and it would be out of business.

House GOP Has Plan to Cut Spending $6 Trillion Over 10 Years; Dems Want to Keep Spending

Obama re-hashing the tired old Democrat mantra

Obama also accuses the Republicans of “seeking to dimantle venerable safety net programs” and the re-hashing the tired old Democrat mantra, of “choosing tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of students and older adults on Medicare.” This coming from a man who not only is in the process of dismantling our entire structure of governance and existence by ruining our economical resources and delivering us to a United Nations order of Islamic Sharia Law and One World Order dictatorship. He deserves to be exiled.

You know of course, don’t you that these poor, unappreciated and so very hard working legislators are going on vacation again; what’‘s that?, you didn’t? Well it’s true; they are headed home this weekend for two whole glorious weeks of daily TV and press interviews and constituent wallet squeezing to fatten the reelection campaign coffers.

Hey, it’s has been almost two whole months ago since they had a vacation; don’t be so picky. And the way I like to think about the national legislature being on vacation is that we are in a “safe” period while they are not legislating and spending our tax dollars. Like it or not, they have to get started on their campaign to remain in office that begins any given day now for the November, 2012 national elections.

Rep. Paul Ryan Isn’t The Savior We Need

April 16, 2011 1 comment

Here we see this same trick being used by people trying to pump Rep. Ryan’s budget plan. Being in “primary” balance is a fancy way of saying “still running a deficit and not really in” balance “by any stretch of the imagination”. The word balance is associated with Ryan’s plan and used to get people to support it because it is a positive thing to have our spending and revenues in balance. But the truth is that there is no balance. Again, as Mr. Ferrera points out, the Ryan Plan still is running a $385 billion debt in 2021 for crying out loud!

It does not take a rocket scientist to know what this means. Although it obviously takes someone a little smarter than a United States Representative or a blind partisan by the looks of things. Since I fall between those two extremes I completely understand it. Most likely you do too. It means we are still going to add trillions in debt over the next decade. If in 2021 we are still going to be $385 in the red, and presumably that is the best we are going to do over the next decade, multiply that by ten years and figure out how much more money we are going to saddle our children, born and unborn, with at a minimum.

In an April 12 “Speaker Alert” Boehner’s office cited the rider as one of 17 reasons to support the deal.
