Rep. Darrell Issa, the California Republican who chairs the House Oversight Committee, was able to question Attorney General Eric Holder for the first time over the Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious scandal during a Tuesday morning hearing of the House Judiciary Committee.

The scandal involves a sting operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in which American guns – including AK-47 assault rifles and military-grade, .50 caliber sniper rifles – were allowed to be smuggled into Mexico and sold to drug cartels, with the goal of tracking the weapons after they’ve been used.

At the hearing, Holder conceded to Issa that Congress has the authority to conduct investigations independent of the Justice Department. Holder also said the DOJ has 20 cases heading to trial in June on the subject. Issa doesn’t think much of those cases.

Threatened by redistricting, anti-war gadfly Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) may return to the scene of his famed UFO encounter in search of re-election.

The Seattle Times checked in with the congressman’s office after he was observed spending an inordinate amount of time in Washington State — where Kucinich once communed with an apparent alien at Shirley MacLaine‘s house, according to her memoir — to find out whether he was scoping out a potential backup district.

Kucinich’s response certainly seemed to encourage the idea.

UNITED NATIONS — The UN’s chief human rights official led calls by rights activist organizations on Tuesday for Washington to explain whether U.S. forces lawfully killed Osama bin Laden. The request by Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, came even as the world body continues to falter over its multi-year bid to define terrorism…

On the U.S. action in Pakistan Sunday, Pillay agreed that bin Laden was a “very dangerous man” … But she also said the United States had always “clearly stated they intended to arrest bin Laden if they could.”

Admitting that taking bin Laden alive was “always going to be difficult,” Pillay nevertheless signalled the United States needs to explain more about what happened in the compound….

Amnesty International said it was seeking “greater clarification” about what went on, while New York-based Human Rights Watch said “law enforcement” principles should have applied.

I turned FOX on at 2PM..caught the WH press briefing, and then the first few minutes of Shep Smith’s program. The presser was a disaster. Unmitigated. Here’s a fearless predicition..within one or two more news cycles, we will hear that the SEALS killed an unarmed Bin Laden who was trying to surrender.

Several journalists tiptoed around the question, and Shep actually “wondered” aloud how an “old man” could have resisted SEALS. And as I type, he actually asked if this operation was “illegal.”

President Barack Obama is ramping up his push to overhaul the country’s immigration system, launching a sustained personal campaign to pressure Congress into taking up the controversial issue that will rely in part on recruiting outside help.

“He is committed and will be leaning into this issue in a very serious and very vigorous way,” Melody Barnes, director of the Domestic Policy Council, said Tuesday at a briefing for a small group of reporters. “We are upping the intensity on this issue.”

Barnes and Cecilia Munoz, the White House director of intergovernmental affairs, detailed a strategy of pressuring Congress from the outside by deploying Cabinet members, senior staff and business, labor and groups to make the case.

The administration took a similar approach ahead of a surprisingly close Senate vote late last year on the Dream Act, which would have provided a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children.

I know the two events are UNrelated…one is a tragedy, and the other is a victory.

But the liberals are POINTEDLY trying to make political capital for Hussein out of two similar events–people getting shot.

BOTH events created SIMILAR reactions amongst the American people.

Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ shooting created NATIONWIDE shock and dismay–throughout the entire society.

Terrorist (isn’t it AMAZING to see the media using THAT word again?!) Usama bin Laden’s death created NATIONWIDE relief and a sense of justice–supposedly no matter WHAT you believe politically.

Yet, here we are again, with Hussein and his hacks trying to make us all enslaved to his ideology just because we’re happy UBL is now dead.

A small weekly paper in California claims that a White House official asked it to remove a sentence from a “benign” feature about Marine One because it reflected poorly on first lady Michelle Obama.

In an email to The Daily Caller, Gina Channell-Allen, president of the Pleasanton Weekly in Pleasanton, California, said that her paper “received a call from the White House asking us to take out part of the story because it reflected poorly on the First Lady.”

The story in question was a soft feature about Marine One titled, “Inside Marine One, President Obama’s helicopter,” that ran in the paper on April 20. Pleasanton staffer Amory Gutierrez “didn’t get to ride in ‘Marine One,’” she wrote in her story, “but I did get the VIP tour and took photographs of the otherwise unseen aircraft.”

She also wrote a sentence that the White House thought made FLOTUS look snooty.

“Basically the reporter said that the First Lady didn’t speak to the pilots but acknowledged them by making eye contact,” Allen wrote in her email.

Allen says she “complied” with the White House’s request “because it was not worth making a fuss over.”

She added, “I thought it was interesting, though, that the [White House] was concerned enough about image to contact a little weekly paper in Pleasanton.”

The White House communications office did not return requests for comment.

Allen said she emailed TheDC after reading about the San Francisco Chronicle’s recent spat with the White House communications office.

US President Barack Obama gets precious few opportunities to announce a victory. So it’s no wonder he chose grand words on Sunday night as the TV crews’ spotlights shone upon him and he informed the nation about the deadly strike against Osama bin Laden. “Justice has been done,” he said.

It may be that this sentence comes back to haunt him in the years to come. What is just about killing a feared terrorist in his home in the middle of Pakistan? For the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and for patriotic Americans who saw their grand nation challenged by a band of criminals, the answer might be simple.

But international law experts, who have been grappling with the question of the legal status of the US-led war on terror for years, find Obama’s pithy words on Sunday night more problematic.

Claus Kress, an international law professor at the University of Cologne, argues that achieving retributive justice for crimes, difficult as that may be, is “not achieved through summary executions, but through a punishment that is meted out at the end of a trial.” Kress says the normal way of handling a man who is sought globally for commissioning murder would be to arrest him, put him on trial and ultimately convict him.

In the context of international law, military force can be used in the arrest of a suspect, and this may entail gun fire or situations of self-defense that, in the end, leave no other possibility than to

We, the people of the United States, personified in action by some of the best and bravest fighting men since the Spartans, got — eliminated, sent to hell — him who threw our times out of kilter through murder and personal vanity of unmeasurable dimensions.

We got him. “The bloody dog is dead,” as Richmond sums up the downfall of Richard III: words equally applicable to the overthrow of Osama bin Laden. The world has witnessed an act of restoration and of cleansing.

Well, we know it. The spontaneous crowds at the White House chanting “USA, USA!” certainly knew it. So did the crowds at ground zero and Times Square. The moral force of a culture that seemed to have none, or not a lot anyway, awoke and stretched itself.

It wasn’t so much that we didn’t see the necessity of squaring matters with the world’s best-known homicidal maniac. The invasion of Afghanistan, initiated by President George W. Bush, to whom history may give more credit than politics has assigned him, was a vast act of retribution. It cleansed — notwithstanding that the maniac successfully fled his pursuers.

The White House backed away Monday evening from key details in its narrative about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, including claims by senior U.S. officials that the Al Qaeda leader had a weapon and may have fired it during a gun battle with U.S. forces.

Officials also retreated from claims that one of bin Laden’s wives was killed in the raid and that bin Laden was using her as a human shield before she was shot by U.S. forces.

However, during a background, off-camera briefing for television reporters later Monday, a senior White House official said bin Laden was not armed when he was killed, apparently by the U.S. raid team.

Another White House official familiar with the TV briefing confirmed the change to POLITICO, adding, “I’m not aware of him having a weapon.”

The White House didn’t offer a reason for any of the changes. However, Brennan noted during his televised briefing that his information came from reports from the scene as well as live video feeds of the raid. “I wasn’t there,” he said.

A few things will result from the killing of Bin Laden:

A) The media will push poll Barack Obama’s numbers to get him to 60% approval;

B) liberals will now pour money into Obama’s re-election;

C) both of these factors will scare away Republicans;

D) Karl Rove and others will offer the brief jump in Obama’s numbers as more proof of their insistence that Obama is unbeatable which will scare a few more Republicans away; and

E) this will leave only Donald Trump, a man who succeeds by making his own luck, as the beneficiary of Rove’s self serving pronouncements and the GOP panic it will bring about.

The killing of Bin Laden on Obama’s watch will lead to Donald Trump’s nomination and election. Only a decision by Trump himself can change that.

Yesterday should have been a glorious day around here. There should have been fireworks and celebration. There should have been somber remembrances. There should have been patriotic tributes. There should have been shared joy at the news that our guys had finally gotten Bin Laden.

Instead, when I visited the site, what I found was a lot of carping. I found people focused more on the political spin than on the great news. I found people transferring their birther mentality onto this event, talking about Obama faking this news, photoshopping information, etc. It wasn’t everybody, but it was a LOT of people. It made me sick.

A fascinating point was made last night on BOR’s show that no one has yet picked up on: Seeing as the ISI had to know Osama was there, was he there “on Ice”, basically under house arrest.

I find it very believable that they had him, a captive in a gilded Gage, unable to do anything. The question is this: were they doing it for us?

Consider this: they had him, we had no desire to make him a martyr, so sit on him until such time as it was to our benefit to produce him.

Maybe this was just another betrayal by bamabi and company, (who lies and betrays on a daily basis) of the ISI, who we provide help and assistance to, to try and make bambi look “presidential”

This is pure speculation on my part, but after watching these folks for two years, looking at the characters involved, remembering the fiasco in Dallas, (that is fooling folks to this day) I don’t find it so hard to believe….
