In the five months after Houston voters forced city officials to turn off a camera surveillance system that fined motorists for running red lights, traffic accidents at those 50 intersections with 70 cameras have decreased 16 percent, according to recently released data.
The drop in accidents surprised Houston police administrators who say a possible explanation is the unusually dry weather during recent months has made driving conditions safer.
They also wonder if years of electronic monitoring have made Houstonians better, if not more cautious, drivers.
Assistant Chief Brian Lumpkin said he had assumed accidents at those intersections were increasing since HPD is still receiving raw data from the camera vendor indicating motorists were running lights with much greater frequency at many intersections…

Defense Secretary Robert Gates stated today that one of the main reasons why President Barack Obama has decided not to release death photos of terrorist Osama bin Laden is because he fears that the pictures will be photoshopped and used against the United States.
Mr. Gates stated that the President believes that, should the photos be released, they will quickly be “misused” in order to drive anti-American sentiment in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Gates stated:
“One of the things that I think concerns Secretary [of State Hillary] Clinton and I is the risk not only of the pictures themselves inflaming people who were bin Laden’s adherents and radical extremists, but we were also worried about the potential for manipulation of those photos and doing things with those photos that would be pretty outrageous in terms of provoking a reaction that might in fact put our troops at greater risk in both Iraq and Afghanistan…”
Gates added:
“I have gotten from friends all over the country copies of the picture that was this iconic picture taken in the Situation Room while we were watching the operation. And they have been photoshopped in every way you can imagine, including putting you know, coming after the royal wedding, one of these had all of us in one of these big, wide-brimmed hats from the wedding. Another had various football players seated at the table that had been photoshopped in.”

How many times have we heard and read references and allusions made as to the insatiable desire of the Marines for publicity. Marines usually just shrug this off, deny or ignore it, or sometimes attempt to explain away this accusation. Too often we just look upon things of this nature assuming it to be just a case of professional jealousy, etc. But many of us may be unaware of certain facts relating to this particular controversy. Can this be something more than just simple inter-service rivalry? When did it begin? Under what circumstances? Is there any basis to this accusation?
The origin of this squabble dates back to the days of the World War. Fortunately, the history of the Marine Corps in WW I is well documented, and the answers to the above questions are available to us. To begin with, General Pershing, and generally the rest of the U.S. Army, did not want the Marines involved in the AEF in Europe at all. The Major General Commandant, George Barnett, however, was determined that a Marine expeditionary force would become part of the AEF.
Marines had long been the chosen instrument of the U.S. State Department for use in trouble spots around the globe, serving both Corps and country well. As a result of their performance, Marines had gained the attention, interest, and respect of the American public. The often used headline of the media, “The Marines have landed and the situation is well in hand,” had long since become a familiar term and well-known to all. The Commandant, it seems, was well-connected politically, and he was able to convince those at the highest levels of government of the need for Marines in the coming war. War against Germany was declared on 6 April, 1917. On 29 May, President Wilson approved the sending of a Marine regiment equipped as infantry. Later, another Marine regiment and other units, was authorized. The Marines’ slogan, “First To Fight,” was to be upheld.

imageWhen Obama inaugurated a conference on bullying by announcing that he too had been bullied, he made the one confession that no world leader should ever make. At least not a world leader who ever hopes to be taken seriously. But by this time it was doubtful that there was a world leader who didn’t know that Obama could be bullied.
Many of them had been rather successful at bullying him already.
The goal of the conference, according to Obama, was to dispel the myth that bullying is “an inevitable part of growing up”. But of course it is an inevitable part of growing up. And of being grown up too. If you don’t learn how to handle bullies while growing up, you’ll have to learn those same lessons later on in life.

Following in the footsteps of a rather ignominious list of nations like Argentina and Hungary, the government of lreland is set to take its ‘fair share’ of private retirement funds.
Drowning in debt and faced with unpopular, unrealistic, ridiculously unpopular austerity measures, the government has announced that it will now tax private pension savings in order to raise 470 million euros (roughly $675 million) per year… a lot of money in a country of only 4.4 million people.
Somehow, the government expects to be able to create 100,000 jobs to bring down an unemployment rate at 14.7%. Perhaps they plan on hiring 100,000 new workers to go around the country and collect the tax.
It reminds me of what I saw in Bolivia a couple of weeks ago– there’s a tax or toll or fee for nearly everything you do. Driving on the highway (if you can call it that) outside of Santa Cruz, you pay a toll… obviously not for the maintenance of the road, but to pay the salary of the toll collector.

Rep. Jack Kingston, a Georgia Republican, leaned forward in his seat at a Wednesday armed services appropriations hearing and practically begged the Pentagon’s top health care official for tips on how to explain a proposed hike in military retiree health care fees to constituents and the news media back home.
“There is this pressure for free health care for life for veterans,” explained Kingston, who represents many veterans in his Savannah area district. Jonathan Woodson, the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, replied that “Congress never meant for the health care benefit” for 5.3 million military retirees and their family members “to be entirely free.”
The exchange illustrates how difficult it is for legislators on Capitol Hill to make even minor changes to military budgets that have come to be seen as largely untouchable – even a small adjustment to a copayment requirement in a health insurance program that has turned out to be a sweet deal for military pensioners.
Members of the military can retire after 20 years with a full pension and heavily subsidized health care for life. It is one of the chief drivers of rapidly rising military health care spending, which has tripled in the past decade to more than $52 billion a year.

You told the doctors you fell down the stairs, but tell yourself that Barry’s been under a lot of stress lately, and you just wouldn’t listen when he told you to shut up.

The US commando raid that killed Osama bin Laden was “not an assassination”, US Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday after the Al-Qaeda leader’s sons denounced the operation.
Holder told the BBC the raid on bin Laden’s hideout in Pakistan on May 2 was a “kill or capture mission” and that his surrender would have been accepted if offered, but that the safety of US Navy commandos was paramount.
“What happened to bin Laden was not an assassination,” Holder said.
“I think the action that we took against him can be seen as an act of national self-defence. You have to remember it is lawful to target an enemy commander,” he said.
The top US legal official said there was no indication that bin Laden was going to surrender and it was believed he could be wearing a suicide vest.

In a trip to El Paso, TX yesterday to patronize Hispanics, Barack the Uniter was in rare form; his wistful reference to “unity” in his I-Me-My bin Laden speech nothing more than forgotten words read from a teleprompter. Yep, Barack “Punish Your Enemies” Obama stepped up to the plate and mocked those who call for tougher laws to protect America’s borders.
Standing at the U.S. – Mexico border, Obama ridiculed Republicans for taking a tough stance on border security: “Maybe they’ll need a moat,” he said derisively to laughter from the crowd. “Maybe they’ll want alligators in the moat.” A “nonpartisan” attempt at unity the likes of which has never been seen.
Are you surprised by this? You shouldn’t be. Here’s a helpful tip to keep in mind when attempting to determine which side of Obama’s mouth speaks the truth: Listen to what he says when he’s talking to the special interest groups he’ll need for reelection. Whether he’s telling union workers he’ll lace up his comfortable shoes and walk picket lines, chastising Israel in speeches to Muslims, or mocking Republicans on the Mexican border, this is who Barack Obama is. Never forget it.

…Skousen also points out the fact that it is unfathomable that bin Laden could have remained alive and hiding out in caves and primitive safe houses for an extended period of time, because it was a well known fact that he suffered from acute kidney disease that required almost daily usage of a dialysis machine (which was NOT present in the home where the US government claimed he was shot).
US intelligence personnel surely knew that bin Laden was treated at the American Hospital in Dubai in July of 2001 by Dr. Terry Callaway, and that CIA station chief Larry Mitchell met bin Laden in the hospital during the time he was admitted. In fact, French television and the Agence France Presse reported that bin Laden was hospitalized between July 4th and 14th of that year.

Jose Guerena, 26, was killed when a SWAT team came to his house to serve a search warrant
Guerena’s wife, Vanessa, said the SWAT team did not identify themselves
Thinking it was a home invasion, Guerena got his rifle
Now, Pima County Sheriff’s officials are refuting original claims that Guerena fired at the SWAT members. In fact, they confirmed his safety was still on when his gun was recovered. Also, officials said that reports that some SWAT officers’ shields were riddled with bullets are also untrue.
SWAT gunned Jose down with 71 rounds fired in just about seven seconds; officials said they did not expect Vanessa to be home with their four-year-old son, Joel, who ended up witnessing his dad’s death. Now he has questions about what happened, like so many others.
“The only thing he asked me, ‘Mom, my dad a bad guy? They killed my dad! Police killed my dad? Why? What did my dad do?’” explained Guerena.
Jose’s relatives want his children to know he did his best to be a great husband, dad and patriot.

The anti-truth “mainstream” media (newspapers, Internet and boob tube) as well as cable tv anchor hosts like shallow Sean Hannity, Beck and O’Reilly, smugly believe the issue Obama/Soetoro’s dual citizenship is somehow going to go away based on the release of “the” birth certificate, April 27, 2011, by the usurper in the White House.
Wishful thinking for all of them who have no regard for the U.S. Constitution and the right of the American people to know whether or not a presidential candidate is legally eligible to run.
Despite all the ballyhoo on the networks, radio and Internet about the “new” long form birth certificate being end of discussion, none of those bastions of the truth from anchors on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, all the web sites and of course, the “fair and balanced” FOX News Network, has touched the issue of the latest document being an obvious forgery.
The problem with Obama/Soetoro’s citizenship has now festered to the near breaking point. A boil oozing puss and a putrid stench that will have to be addressed in the near future. Had the gutless cowards in the Outlaw Congress done their solemn duty, January 9, 2009, and stopped the electoral college vote then and there, we would not be here today.
No presidential candidate who was in Congress that day will ever get my vote because he/she didn’t have the courage to stand up and begin the process of stopping the vote and proceeding with an investigation for a massive controversy all of them knew was burning across this country. That includes my congressman when he runs again in 2012, who sat there like a stuffed dummy.
Setting aside the issue of the birth certificate as far as where little bouncing Barry (Soetoro) was actually born, the only legal issue is his father’s citizenship at the time Obama, Sr’s progeny was brought into this world. Barry has now produced the “real” birth certificate listing Barack Obama, Sr., as the biological father, so he’s stuck with it. Obama, Sr., was a Kenyan national visiting the U.S., he was not a U.S. citizen.
In 1961, Kenya was still a British Colony making Obama, Sr. a subject of that commonwealth. Obama, Jr. was automatically a British citizen under the British Nationality Act of 1948. Thus, he is forever ineligible to be president of these united States of America.
But, how would you remove Obama/Soetoro from office?…………………….

Obama continues to stack the courts with his own judges who will never recuse themselves–even though they say they will–under any circumstances. To top even this off, Obama’s new acting Solicitor General (and Muslim?)
Neal Kumar Katyal told the Appeals Court panel that Congress has absolute power over US citizens and can force them to buy–or not to buy–anything it deems appropriate at the moment.
This is insane. But, its an insanity that holds power and sway over us all and now places us in a tyrannical form of government established by the usurper Barack Hussein Obama. Oh, and by the way…with reference to that “new” long-form Obama birth certificate, even my brother was able to prove it fraudulent in about an hour.
Folks, if by some miracle Obama is voted out of his illegally-obtained US presidency, mark my words: “He will not leave willingly.” I predict he will have to be removed forcibly. But, before the 2012 elections can even arrive, Obama’s plans–if allowed to continue–will necessarily remove ALL rights from the American people. If the revolution doesn’t begin soon, We-the-Sheeple will be the end result and the former USA will prove to be far worse than Stalin‘s Russia or Hitler‘s Germany.

The Dream Act has been heralded as a good thing for America. However, Americans who are worried about their security should examine this Bill carefully. The Goal of the US Military is to protect the Citizens of the United States. There is a big question that needs to be answered here. What country in the world has or wants illegal aliens in their military. I mean, our military is our last line of defense. Do we really want to depend on illegal aliens in our Military?
Dream Act proponents say to not worry about illegals with a criminal history getting into this program. Yet there are lots of loopholes for the Government to waive the requirement of no “serious crimes” as to eligibility for the program. Look at this verbage on the program:
For example, some students may have committed minor crimes such as misdemeanors before they turned 18; those minor incidents may not hinder their application process for Conditional Permanent Residency as much as being convicted of a felony would. However, since there are no guidelines, we cannot be 100% positive on which crimes would impact one’s application.
As the bill is written now Government agencies could “waive” or “twist” the provision of keeping out those with criminal histories on a case by case basis. That’s why there are no “hard” rules about crimes in the act. Therefore, we could have minor criminals at best and narco-terrorists at worst in the military. Not a comforting thought for most Americans.

Community activists in St. Louis became concerned a couple of years ago that local banks weren’t offering credit to the city’s poor and African American residents. So they formed a group called the St. Louis Equal Housing and Community Reinvestment Alliance and began writing complaint letters to federal regulators. Apparently, someone in Washington took notice. The Federal Reserve has cited one of the group’s targets, Midwest BankCentre, a small bank that has been operating in St. Louis’s predominantly white, middle-class suburbs for over a century, for failing to issue home mortgages or open branches in disadvantaged areas.
Although executives at the bank say they don’t discriminate, Midwest BankCentre’s latest annual report says it is in the process of negotiating a settlement with the U.S. Justice Dept. over its lending practices. Lawyers and bank consultants say regulators and the Obama Administration are scrutinizing financial institutions for a practice that last drew attention before the rise of subprime lending: redlining.
The term dates from the 1930s, when the Federal Housing Administration drew up maps using red ink to delineate inner-city neighborhoods considered too risky for lending. Congress later passed laws banning lending discrimination on the basis of race and other characteristics.

John Kurtz, the founder of Orlando Copwatch, was arrested on New Year’s Eve after attempting to videotape a police investigation in public.
Police say he approached them with a camera as an officer was trying to control a domestic violence suspect. Police say he told the officer to “calm down because he was on camera,” according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Police say they ordered him to back off, but Kurtz ignored that command, shoving the officer in the chest instead.
Police say they had no choice but to tackle and arrest him, charging him with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest without violence and obstructing or opposing a police officer.
Considering that everybody agrees that Kurtz was videotaping that night, it should be easy to prove his innocence or guilt in this case.
The problem is, the videotape and camera have apparently gone missing.
According to Orlando Copwatch’s webpage:
Kurtz’s Video Camera with the evidence on it that would easily clear or condemn him of these charges mysteriously went missing. It was not in Kurtz’s personal effects when he was released from Jail, nor was it entered into evidence. It is unknown what happened to Kurtz’s camera however at best it reflects negligence on the Orlando Police Department for failure to secure evidence, At worst shows absolute corruption and evidence tampering.

IT’S MY PARTY: The Democrats in the Senate are headed to President Obama’s turf on Wednesday to talk with him about the deficit and, the White House says, other things.
In guidance to reporters, the White House said that at the meeting at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Obama and the “Senate Democratic Caucus” will cover “the range of important issues on the legislative agenda, including the need to adopt a balanced approach in confronting the nation’s long-term deficit challenges.” The meeting is closed to the press..

Ummat’s introduction
Kabul: Prominent Arab mojahed holy warrior Usamah Bin-Ladin has said that he or his al-Qa’idah group has nothing to do with the 11 September suicidal attacks in Washington and New York.
He said the US government should find the attackers within the country. In an exclusive interview with daily “Ummat”, he said these attacks could be the act of those who are part of the American system and are rebelling against it and working for some other system. Or, Usamah said, this could be the act of those who want to make the current century a century of conflict between Islam and Christianity.
Or, the American Jews, who are opposed to President Bush ever since the Florida elections, might be the masterminds of this act. There is also a great possibility of the involvement of US intelligence agencies, which need billions of dollars worth of funds every year. He said there is a government within the government in the United States.
The secret agencies, he said, should be asked as to who are behind the attacks. Usamah said support for attack on Afghanistan was a matter of need for some Muslim countries and compulsion for others.
However, he said, he was thankful to the courageous people of Pakistan who erected a bulwark before the wrong forces. He added that the Islamic world was attaching great expectations with Pakistan and, in time of need, “we will protect this bulwark by sacrificing of lives”.

President Barack Obama is preparing a fresh outreach to the Muslim world in coming days, senior U.S. officials say, one that will ask those in the Middle East and beyond to reject Islamic militancy in the wake of Osama bin Laden‘s death and embrace a new era of relations with the U.S.
Mr. Obama is preparing to deliver that message in a wide-ranging speech, perhaps as early as next week, these officials say. The president intends to argue that bin Laden’s death, paired with popular uprisings sweeping North Africa and the Middle East, signal that the time has come to an end when al Qaeda could claim to speak for Muslim aspirations.
“It’s an interesting coincidence of timing—that he is killed at the same time that you have a model emerging in the region of change that is completely the opposite of bin Laden’s model,” Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser at the White House, said in an interview……

The numbers are in: the white population is moribund. The latest figures from the 2010 census point to the emergence of a new America to be eventually dominated by minorities, especially Hispanics and Asians, the two fastest-growing ethnic groups in the land.
By 2041 minorities will be the new majority. This demographic change is occurring at an even more meteoric pace than previously anticipated. America’s white population dropped from 69.1 percent in 2000 to 63.7 in 2010, while the minority population grew from 30.9 percent in 2000 to 36.3 percent in 2010.

Running roughshod over the people by manipulating laws, transforming our system of government, destroying our currency, our economic and military superiority and generally forcing the people to accept a lower standard of living in order to make the rest of the world feel more equal to America, may seem like a good idea to the elites in charge, until the people lose all trust, faith and confidence in their government.
When the people determine once and for all, that their government is not their friend, but rather the greatest modern threat to American peace, prosperity and liberty, the rules of the game are going to change dramatically.
Once the people reach a point where they no longer trust anyone in their government, when every government action from the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches seem just another lie intended to manipulate the masses into compliance, the people’s complacency will morph into unbridled rage in an instant. With nothing but liberty left to lose, the people will do whatever it takes to reclaim their freedom and deal with those so bold as to directly and overtly assault them.

Osama bin Laden, mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, is now an applause line in a presidential campaign speech.
Bin Laden’s name came up a couple of times in Obama’s address Tuesday evening at a fund-raising event in Austin, Texas.
Early in Obama’s appearance, someone shouted out, “Thank you for getting Bin Laden!’’
Obama said that was a “case in point’’ – a reason for voters to let him “finish what we started.’’
Later, Obama ticked off what he described as his administration’s accomplishments: lifting the ban on gays in the military; bringing troops home from Iraq.
And then: “And because of the extraordinary bravery of the men and women who wear this nation’s uniform and the outstanding work of our intelligence agencies,’’ Obama said, “Osama bin Laden will never again threaten the United States.’’
The crowd roared.
While the president has basked in the success of the operation, Bin Laden’s sons released a statement Tuesday criticizing the administration, saying the U.S. broke international law in killing an unarmed man.
In Washington, Vice President Biden, coming off another round of deficit talks, was asked by reporters whether Bin Laden’s killing at the hands of the U.S. military was illegal.
“Are you kidding?” Biden replied.

Immigration: As the President gives an amnesty speech near a hotbed of Mexican drug violence, Arizona’s governor takes her case to the Supreme Court and will use prison labor and online donations to build a border fence.
President Obama flew into the border city of El Paso Tuesday, no doubt over the wildfires that have plagued the politically red state and whose disaster he has chosen to virtually ignore.
He may have also passed the El Paso City Hall, which last summer became a war zone as gunfire from the Mexican side pockmarked the building.
He was there to tout his plans for “comprehensive immigration reform” (aka amnesty) across the border from Ciudad Juarez, one of the most violent cities in the world. In the past year alone, 3,111 civilians were murdered, many of them victims or targets of violence stemming from turf battles in Mexico’s raging drug war.
Obama is touching all of his political bases as he continues his 2012 re-election bid, this time hoping to pump up dwindling Hispanic support by once again trumpeting the liberal open-borders mantra.
“It will reflect his (Obama’s) commitment to comprehensive immigration reform,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said of the speech on Monday.
We would prefer a reinforced commitment to border security.
So, too, would Gov. Jan Brewer of neighboring Arizona. Her state is beleaguered by waves of illegal immigrants and a federal government that has waged war against it for its attempts to protect its citizens and secure its border with a violent Mexico.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked a new immigration law in Utah that would have allowed police to check the citizenship status of anyone they arrest. Judge Clark Waddoups issued his ruling in Salt Lake City hours after the law went into effect, citing its similarity to an Arizona law now before federal courts.
T he American Civil Liberties Union and National Immigration Law Center had sued to stop the law, warning that its implementation could lead to racial profiling. Utah Assistant Atty. Gen. Jerrold Jensen said the ruling was “not a surprise.”
Jensen said after the hearing that the law was “fully constitutional” and that his office planned to “argue it vigorously.”
The next hearing on the matter is set for July 14.

It’s A Dead Heat, Lunacy And Hypocrisy Are Dueling For The Lead, At The Head Of The Stretch
Sen. Charles Schumer, NY, is calling for increased security on trains; since, Osama’s computer files have included vague plans for attacking rail systems to celebrate the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Schumer is suggesting an ever larger increase in America’s security forces that have largely been shown to be ineffective and incompetent in the past. Schumer is also suggesting a fool proof, no-ride list, so that terrorists who are known to be terrorists cannot ride, but will be free to find another opportunity to bomb Americans. Strange Liberal philosophies regarding terrorists and criminals are not new, in fact they are based on making it so hard for the terrorist to commit mass murder that he will become exasperated and go home. The fact that such a security force for trains would be a total waste, because of the variety of potential bombing scenarios that would be far more disastrous and even easier for the terrorist has yet to be considered.
Anyone, even a member of al-Qaida could purchase a train ticket and board an Amtrak train without so much as a question asked, so that’s why I’m calling for the creation of an Amtrak no ride list. That would take the secure flight program and apply it to Amtrak trains.

Pundits, academics, and Republican activists in Georgia want to make this perfectly clear: Paul Broun is an accidental congressman.”I was flabbergasted when he won the election,” admits Jim Box, one of many eminences in the Georgia Republican Party who declined to endorse the 61-year-old house call doctor before his upset victory in a special election last July. Box runs the GOP in Clarke County, which surrounds Athens and includes the University of Georgia; it’s the area that gave Broun his winning majority. “All the long-term historical indicators,” says Merle Black, “indicate that Broun should have lost.” Black, an Emory University political scientist with a peerless knowledge of Southern politics, bets that Broun will serve one term and lose the next Republican primary. It’s easy to see why they’re skeptical. Broun, a self-described “strict constitutionalist,” believes that the income tax should be abolished, that civil liberties degraded since 9/11 should be restored, and that fetuses deserve American citizenship. He has been married four times; opponents grumble that he performs house calls because hospitals won’t hire him. This isn’t the usual background of somebody who gets elected in Georgia.

Documents obtained by WND indicate the Kenyan government investigated the possibility that President Obama was born in the East African nation.
Two letters purportedly written by Kenya’s immigration secretary during the 2008 U.S. presidential election campaign stated that officials in Nairobi could not find evidence Obama was born in Kenya. But the official said the government had “information” that relevant birth records may have been removed or were missing.
Emmanuel Kisombe, the permanent secretary in the Ministry for Immigration and Registration of Persons, wrote a letter in July 2008 in reply to a letter from the U.S. ambassador in Nairobi that raised the possibility with Kenyan officials that Obama was born in their country.

The political elites will now decide what parts of the Constitution they will choose to follow and which ones they prefer to ignore. Their propaganda ministry, the main stream media, will provide the necessary thought control.
The junta, formerly known as the US Government, reeks of corruption.
Thanks to the malfeasance or political cowardice of the Republican and Democratic Parties, we now have an ineligible individual, Barack Hussein Obama, occupying the White House.
In addition, there is an increasing amount of credible evidence to suggest that forgery may have been committed during Obama’s campaign for the Presidency.

The Florida state legislature has passed a bill that would make it illegal for pediatricians and other physicians to ask patients or their parents whether they have guns in their home.
Pediatricians often ask the question at initial well-child visits as a platform to discuss how to safely store guns in the home in order to prevent accidental shootings.
But under the law — expected to be signed soon by Florida’s governor — doctors would face a $500 fine for inquiring about gun ownership and recording it in a patient’s medical record. That fine would increase if a physician asked about guns at more than one visit.
The National Rifle Association (NRA), the main backer of the legislation, says questions about firearms don’t belong in the doctor’s office.

PORTLAND, Maine — A majority of Americans believe the nation needs a third major political party, according to the results of a new Gallup poll.
Fifty-eight percent of Americans believe a third major political party is needed because the Republican and Democratic Parties do a poor job of representing the American people.
The number of people who said the parties are doing an adequate job was 40 percent.
Independents have always been most supportive of a third party, with 68 percent saying as much in the latest poll.
But a significant party gap was recorded in the poll, with 52 percent of Republicans favoring a third party, compared with 33 percent of Democrats.

— President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will celebrate American poetry and prose with a gathering of poets, musicians and artists at the White House next Wednesday night. Professionals Elizabeth Alexander, Billy Collins, Rita Dove, Kenneth Goldsmith, Alison Knowles, Aimee Mann and Jill Scott will read, sing and highlight poetry’s influence on American culture.
And there is another poet whose works will be honored: as NH Journal points out, “One of the poets who will attend is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. who goes by the name ‘Common.’”
“Tell the law my Uzi weighs a ton … I hold up a peace sign but I carry a gun,” raps Common in one appearance that was posted onto YouTube. The performance, you’ll see, is full of racially-tinged language. According to NH Journal, Common is an acolyte of Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
It is likely Obama met Common at the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ where both men were members. Several of Wright’s sermons caused a firestorm of controversy during the 2008 presidential campaign due to their caustic, racially charged, anti-American tones. One sermon in particular caused Obama a severe headache – the one in which he blamed America for Osama bin Laden’s terrorist attacks. “America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he said.
Obama at first tried to defend Wright. But when that strategy became untenable, he disavowed him. Not so Common. In fact, Common defended his minister.

Here’s a news bulletin — it is becoming increasingly clear that we are living in a time when Republican politics are being shaped by a 75-year-old, 12-term Texas congressman with a son in the Senate. And incredibly, it is no longer out of the realm of possibility that this outcast of the GOP establishment may win the party’s presidential nomination.
If you have not been paying attention, it is time to look around and realize that we are living in the political age of Rep. Ron Paul.
A CNN/Opinion Research poll released late last week shows Paul faring the best against President Obama of any potential Republican candidate. He trails the president by only 7 points, 52-45 percent, in a head-to-head matchup. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trails by 8 points, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney down 11 points to Obama.
In February, Paul won the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Action Conference for the second straight year.
Last Thursday, the day of the first GOP debate, one of Paul’s fabulously-labeled “money bombs” exploded with the announcement of $1 million in contributions for the Paul campaign.
The Tea Party, which drove the GOP to claim a majority of the House in the mid-term elections, grew largely out of the ashes of his 2008 presidential campaign, which emphasized limited government and a return to constitutional principles. Since then, the Tea Party has bullied the Republican leadership in the House to force budget cuts at the risk of shutting down the government and collectively become the most persistent critic of the Obama presidency on financial regulatory reform and health care.
The roots of all of this are in the libertarian mind of Rep. Paul.
At last week’s debate, put on by my other employer, Fox News Channel, I was struck by the libertarian flair the iconoclast injected into the evening. First, his presence along with another libertarian Republican — former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson — allowed for Republicans nationwide to witness a debate in which strong arguments for immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan came from the right. But that was just the start. There are instances where Paul’s views make the Republican establishment want to scream.
