Things stir beyond the frontiers. If we are not to swirl down history’s drain while singing We Shall Overcome, perhaps we should begin again to pay attention to ability. It is one thing, and a good thing, to insist on equality of opportunity. Them as can cut the mustard should have access to mustard. But affirmative action, meaning the hiring of those who would not be hired on their merit, lowers competitiveness in a world that is not going to cut the US any slack. White European males have been far away and gone the world’s most bounteous fountains of the sciences. Maybe we should keep them, even encourage them. The deliberate enstupidation of the schools to favor the unable, to make those who can’t or won’t look as if they could or have, is auto-Kevoirkian governance.

If those who detest white European males can do better, they should. Show me. I am waiting. Meanwhile, let them eat goose who do not like golden eggs.

Poll: Obama would beat Perry (& Palin) in Texas — but lose to Ron Paul & other Republicans (PPP)

Will the Lone Star state turn blue in 2012?

It isn’t likely — unless Gov. Rick Perry jumps in the ring and clinches the Republican nomination, a new poll from the Public Policy Polling group found.

In the poll’s match-ups, President Barack Obama loses Texas to every notable Republican except Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. If the ballot came down to Perry and Obama, 47 percent of poll respondents said they would vote for Obama. Forty-five percent said they would cast a ballot for Perry.

The most elected Republican in the poll? Mitt Romney.

The poll found that Obama would garner 42 percent of the Texas vote to 50 percent for the former Massachusetts governor. The president trailed Texas Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, by 5 percentage points, 40 percent to 45 percent.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann leads in Texas, 47 percent to Obama’s 44 percent. Obama also loses to former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty by 1 percentage point.

Obama would beat out Palin for the state with 46 percent of respondents casting a ballot for his second term and 44 percent voting for Palin…..

“THE EXPRESS LANE TO NATURAL BORN CLARITY.

The US Supreme Court definition of an Article 2 Section 1 natural-born citizen as stated in Minor v Happersett is strictly limited to those persons born in the United States to parents who were citizens. Below, I will make this crystal clear with stealth to reduce the complexities of the issue into a refined exposition and mantra the average citizen will easily comprehend.

NATURAL BORN CLARITY

The Supreme Court in Minor specifically avoided construing the 14th Amendment as to the issue of whether Virginia Minor was a US citizen. Instead, the Court looked no further than the natural-born citizen clause in Article 2 Section 1. The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural-born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens. (For more detailed analysis of this issue, see my two previous reports, here and here.)

The Court also noted that the “citizenship” of those born to non-citizen parents was subject to doubt. Since Virginia Minor was in the class of natural-born citizens, that doubt didn’t need to be resolved. The Court exercised judicial restraint and thereby avoided construction of the 14th Amendment as to the citizenship issue.

Such avoidance and restraint were called for. In order for the Court to act, there must be a genuine controversy with regard to the laws in question. Since there was no controversy before the Court involving a 14th Amendment citizenship issue, the Court decided the issue on other grounds, specifically Article 2 Section 1.

Now we turn to US v. Wong Kim Ark. In that case, the US Supreme Court held that (some) persons born in the United States of alien parents were “citizens”. In doing so, the Court stated that it was specifically construing only the 14th Amendment. And here lies the rub of clarity:

If Wong Kim Ark had been a natural-born citizen, the Supreme Court would never have reached the 14th Amendment issue (just as it didn’t reach it in Minor.)

That statement is a perfectly true mantra. Read it again… and again, until it sinks in. Then share the mantra. There is no antidote for it. There is never an antidote for truth.

THE NATURAL BORN CITIZEN CLAUSE HAS NOT BEEN AMENDED OR REPEALED.

Four years ago, Boston police officers arrested a man for videotaping them making an arrest in a public park.

They charged Simon Glik with felony wiretapping, disturbing the peace and aiding the escape of a prisoner – even though all he did was hold up a video camera – and the man they were arresting did not escape.

The charges were quickly dropped and Glik eventually filed a lawsuit for false arrest, claiming his First and Fourth Amendment rights had been violated.

The police officers filed a motion to dismiss his complaint on the basis on “qualified immunity,” which is their way of claiming they had no idea videotaping cops in public was completely legal.

A judge denied that motion and they appealed, which brought the issue back to court last week.

Now another judge will decide whether the cops will be granted qualified immunity, which would set a legal precedent that cops can basically make unlawful arrests of citizens who videotape them without fear of repercussions.

The Moral Promise of Freedom (The Waco Prophet Was Right)

The methods and strategies of the government’s assault against Waco had been used for years by the military, but against foreign governments and their leaders, not against the domestic citizenry. The most familiar case of foreign intrigue was the government’s attack on Manuel Noriega, in which it used similar tactics (blaring music, planting evidence, spreading disinformation), and therein lies the connection between foreign policy and domestic. Anything a government allows itself to do to foreign countries will eventually be done at home. That’s one reason George Washington warned us against foreign entanglements.

We may never know the full truth about Waco or the extent of government perfidy, but we can draw lessons from the experience. This particular event was a fiasco, but it also tells something about what our government has become: “the organizer-in-chief of society,” as Bertrand de Jouvenel said, which is “making its monopoly of this role ever more complete.” It is a parasite and a monster that acts to protect itself. Mises was right: government’s nature is coercive. It is “beating, killing, hanging.” Coercion is necessary in society to protect the rights of property holders against those who do not respect property. But when government itself become the source of arbitrary violence, we have tyranny. That’s why unchecked power should never be invested in a centralized government, even one with a democratic mandate. This power will invariably be exercised at the expense of peaceful social relations.

In its dealings with the community of believers at Mount Carmel, the central government abandoned the moral promise of a free society, and, as all tyrannies eventually do, ignored its own standards of law and ethics. But it paid the price of losing some measure of public confidence, which is already at historic lows. A government that governs by fear alone eventually finds itself unable to govern at all.

Obama Gives New Grant to ACORN; Did He Violate Federal Law?

Why is Obama apparently defying federal law by funding ACORN?

Judicial Watch discovered the administration is flouting the will of Congress by giving federal money to ACORN.

Obama’s HUD gave a $79,819 grant to the largest branch of the ACORN tree, ACORN Housing Corp. . AHC filed papers last year legally changing its name to Affordable Housing Centers of America.

Worse yet, the grant funds a political agitation and indoctrination program. Here’s HUD’s euphemistic description of the program:

Education and Outreach Initiative grants (EOI) – HUD awarded $6.8 million to organizations that educate the public and housing providers about their rights and obligations under federal, state, and local fair housing laws. Groups will also conduct fair lending workshops, community meetings, and individual counseling activities focused on homeowners at risk for discrimination.

According to HUD, the grant money came out of fiscal 2010 appropriations.

That’s a big problem.

As I reported previously, in 2009 Congress passed four separate appropriations bills that contained language blocking federal funds from flowing to ACORN during federal fiscal year 2010, which ran from Oct. 1, 2009 through Sept. 30, 2010. All four laws prevent ACORN and its affiliates from receiving taxpayer dollars.

Yet despite the ban, President Obama, who worked for ACORN as an employee and as the group’s lawyer, found it in his heart to hand over $79,819 of your money to his thug friends at ACORN.

Glenn Beck, Fox end dark, nasty cable era today (major hurl alert)

When Glenn Beck signs off today at the end of his last Fox News cablecast, he will leave a TV legacy of reckless, divisive and ugly speech in his wake. He and Fox News should both feel some shame for the harm they have done to the national political discourse — how they have taken an hour of dinnertime each weeknight and used it to help polarize us with paranoid and angry words.

But, of course, Fox and Beck seem to have no shame, do they? In the case of Fox News, it thinks good ratings are all that matter. And in the case of Beck, it’s all about the new projects he has and his claim to make $30 to $40 million a year, with only a tenth of that having come from Fox.

Good for them and their skewed value systems.

I will tell you something, I did much of my Ph.D. dissertation research on the blacklisting of the 1950s, and Glenn Beck’s speech and attacks were as nasty and dirty as any of it. And there is no one who can absolve Fox News for loosening those ugly forces on American life again at a time when we as a nation need to come together to solve massive problems like no time since World War II.

Tell me about how Beck will end his Fox run in third or fourth place overall in cable news ratings, and I’ll ask you at what price? He and Fox did it by speaking to our worst demons and betraying any notion of public trust that comes with being a cablecaster and part of the American press.

Disunited Americans Cannot Stand Up To Washington Tyranny

For example, the governments of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, states that share borders, have been fighting for more than two decades over the water in Georgia’s Lake Lanier, located a few miles northeast of Atlanta. In 2009 a federal district judge ruled that it is illegal for water to be drawn from the lake to meet the needs of Atlanta’s three million residents. The judge stipulated that the three states had until July 2011 to reach an agreement, failing which Atlanta would be restricted to the amount of water it received in the mid-1970s, when its population was less than one-third of its present size.

Obviously, the ruling was a major incentive to Alabama and Florida not to compromise. Either the judge gave no thought to this fact or he was unconcerned that 3 million Atlantans would find themselves in drought circumstances.

At the last moment on June 28, with two days to go before Atlanta was cut off from its water supply, a federal appeals court ruled that the district court judge’s decision was incorrect and gave the US Corps of Engineers one year to make a final decision concerning the allocation of Lake Lanier’s water to the three states.

Obama’s ineligibility: It is time to create a genuine opposition (Dim bulb Dick Durbin video)

The 2012 election is underway and it will be a street fight, whose outcome will determine if the United States survives as a republic.

It is futile writing to Congress for the redress of grievances. They are only interested in getting elected, not in representing their constituents.

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) is the Senate Majority Whip, the second highest position in the Democratic Party leadership in the Senate.

To me Dangerous Dick is indicative of how far the Congress has degenerated.

Durbin thinks that it is acceptable for an illegal immigrant to become President.

If you recall, it was also Durbin who compared American soldiers to Nazis.

To the untrained eye Durbin may seem like he is either an idiot or insane. He is not.

You see, like his other pals in Congress, Durbin expects to be Senator-for-life along the lines of Haiti’s Baby Doc Duvalier.

Durbin and the Democrats don’t really care about illegal immigrants as future professionals, but as future voters.

By giving illegal immigrants amnesty before the 2012 election, the Democrats believe that they can guarantee an election victory for Obama and regain control of Congress.

Their aim is permanent political power, a one-party state like Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.

And the feeble and impotent Republicans will acquiesce in the hope that they will be the last ones eaten by the crocodile.
