Murdoch Has Blood on His Hands | Veterans Today
Nailing Rupert Murdoch for his employees’ phone tapping or bribery would be a little like bringing down Al Capone for tax fraud, or George W. Bush for torture. I’d be glad to see it happen but there’d still be something perverse about it.
I remember how outraged Americans were in 2005 learning about our government’s warrantless spying, or for that matter how furious some of my compatriots become when a census form expects them to reveal how many bathrooms are in their home.
I’m entirely supportive of outrage. I just h

Prison Planet.com » Ron Paul Blasts GOP Establishment In Dramatic First Campaign Video
Congressman Ron Paul has hit the ground running in Iowa and New Hampshire with a dramatic 2012 presidential campaign ad that directly targets the GOP leadership.
According to Paul’s campaign team, the Congressman has taken out a six figure ad buy in the two states, traditionally home to the first primary and caucus to ultimately decide the party nominees.
The video is produced in the style of a trailer for a huge summer blockbuster film and is sure to be a viral hit online where Paul has dominated the GOP field for some time.
“The following preview has been approved for all audiences by RESTORE AMERICA NOW” the opening screenshot reads as the ad spot begins with a rousing chorus of timpani drums and ascending violins.
The ad focuses on the current debt ceiling fight, casting it in the light of a momentous struggle between “compromise” and “conviction” and chronicling past instances of Congress voting to raise the debt ceiling.
“This August the next chapter will be written, ” the ad states.
“14 trillion in debt, millions unemployed, the dollar in decline,” it continues.
“Will our party’s leaders choose the mistakes of the past?” the ad questions. As a photo of House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell hits the screen the narrator asks “Will they choose compromise or conviction?”
“We know where they stand,” the narrator says as images of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid fill the screen.
The screen fades to black, the music stops.
“One candidate has always been true,” the narrator asserts. “Ron Paul. Cut spending. Balance the budget. No deals.”

Lefties Giddily Ask: ‘Could We Soon See A World Without Fox News?’
Vyan at Daily Kos is getting giddy in a post headlined “Could we soon see a world without Fox News?” It’s apparently all over for FNC: “In less than a week the News of the World Wiretapping and Bribery Scandal has quickly metastasized into a Multi-Headed Dragon of Death for Murdoch Empire and simply lopping off one head, doesn’t seem to be enough – the infection has already spread.”
Now that Fox-hating liberal interest groups, bloggers, and Democrat politicians are vowing to investigate, the Kosmonauts think Murdoch’s “criminal enterprise” is about to collapse:
With the current head of the Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal caught directly in this scandal – it won’t be long before they start shedding those assets as well, and yes, Fox News too – as it’s been obvious for a long time they are a Criminal Enterprise just like the rest of his media empire. Possibly one of the worst since Murdoch didn’t buy them as an existing enterprise – He built it from the Ground Up, which means the rot has always been part of it’s core.
The topic also came up on Tuesday’s Thom Hartmann show, where a Washington liberal had to tell Hartmann to calm down with the Mafia metaphors for Murdoch Incorporated:

The Democrats’ own Reichstag Fire
So now the Democrats have their own Reichstag fire. The dazed bystander this time isn’t a communist, but Rupert Murdoch, News Corp.’s owner, who like Conrad Black could wind up in jail after a kangaroo court brings in a quick conviction on complicated and bogus charges, leaving Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and other news outlets that Democrats don’t like in shambles.
In fact, this presents the perfect opportunity for the Dems to initiate a coup with legislation that limits free speech, freedom of the press and other Constitutional guarantees. Here’s their opportunity to seize absolute power unopposed by the only media in America that has had the intestinal fortitude to publicly oppose their agenda.
Combined with legislation already in existence, such as the unfortunately named Patriot Act, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the creation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA, America’s answer to the SA), the elections of 2012 could well become moot with Obama becoming America’s first President for Life. Given that a responsible fourth estate may no longer exist, this isn’t merely the musing of a professional paranoiac, but a distinct possibility.
We often wonder how it was possible for Hitler was able to assume power in Germany, the country that produced Goethe, Schubert, Handel and Beethoven. The answer is that he was legally elected and used the law to render the German population powerless. It’s not too far fetched for this to happen right here.
What Progressives Fail to Understand: This Is War (The Left plans their attack on us)
As for the progressive-libertarian joint effort, it isn’t as far out as it sounds, Ron Paul and Ralph Nader get it as did 1960s radical activist Carl Oglesby but Paul is a “nutcase” despite his anti-interventionist, antiwar, pro-civil liberties, anti-Federal Reserve stance and he wants to abolish the Gestapo TSA as well. Nader is poison to the Democrats and progressives/liberals who still believe in the functioning system despite watching Bush family operatives steal the 2000 election in Florida and then have not do a goddamned thing other than jerk off and point fingers at Nader when the Supreme Court put George W. Bush into the White House. Oglesby is a “conspiracy theorist” the dreaded pejorative that is used by all establishment lackeys and those enshrouded in comfortable cocoons of denial when they dare to ask serious questions. For even suggesting such a thing, even temporarily I was shunned as a leper, mocked and derided as much for that as for my inability to suck it up, turn the other cheek and be a pacifist. I must admit that I always had a bit of sympathy for the Jack Nicholson character, Colonel Nathan Jessep in the movie A Few Good Men, his methods were unsound and his arrogance was his undoing but he had it right when he barked that:
You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. The liberals and progressives are impotent and on the verge of extinction, of being hunted and persecuted in their own country simply because they never understood that there had to be someone on that wall to beat back the hordes. Better get a clue folks, they are closing in now.
Just my two cents

Seven Things You Have To Know To Understand **End Times Prophecy Part 1***
Seven Things You Have To Know To Understand End Times Prophecy Part 1
With all the killer storms, earthquakes, wars and disease dominating our news, it’s not surprising that people are becoming more interested in End Times Prophecy. Even non-believers are wondering if the end is near. What is surprising is how little most Christians actually know about prophecy, especially since by some accounts it comprises nearly 40% of the Bible’s content, more than any other topic.
With few exceptions seminaries don’t teach it, so preachers don’t preach it. And therefore Christians don’t learn it. In all my years as a denominational Christian, I never once heard a message explaining the importance of prophecy to a believer’s walk with the Lord. And yet the Bible devotes more space to End Times Prophecy than it does to all the teachings of Jesus.
When Christians are asked why they don’t study prophecy more seriously the most common reasons given are 1) because it scares them, and 2) because it confuses them. Both responses are borne out of a lack of understanding. For the believer, prophecy is neither scary nor confusing but the key to understanding God’s plan for man.
The purpose of this series is to provide a solid foundation for further study. When the foundation of a building is stable and solid, the entire building is stronger, able to withstand powerful forces that would otherwise weaken or even topple it. So it is when the foundation of our study is solid. Powerful arguments from scoffers and unbelievers cannot shake us or weaken our faith. Let’s get started.

Beer Becomes Alcohol
The Federation Council approved a bill classifying beer as an alcoholic drink Wednesday, for the first time subjecting the beverage to the same controls as wines and spirits.
The package of amendments to alcohol legislation broadens the definition of alcohol to any product containing more than 0.5 percent alcohol, but exempts kvas and kefir, which typically contain between 0.5 and 1 percent alcohol.
The sale of alcohol will be banned between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m., with the exception of bars and restaurants, and advertising for any form of alcoholic beverage will be forbidden. An exception is allowed for kiosks to continue selling drinks with less than 5 percent alcohol around-the-clock until Jan. 1, 2013.

Ron Paul: “America’s AAA Rating Not Worth Saving” Because “We Are Insolvent”
The man who yesterday got into a heated argument with the chairsatan on whether gold is or isn’t money (a Bernanke response already mocked to death so we will leave it alone), shares his take on the most recent bout of scaremongering by Moody’s (with S&P doing in private today what Moody’s did in public yesterday) with Bloomberg TV‘s Erik Schatzker. When asked if the American AAA rating is worth saving, his reply: “probably not.”
Paul continued: “I think if you had a market evaluation on this issue, it should have marked down a long time ago.” The reason the downgrade will come regardless is that “ultimately that is going to happen anyway because we are insolvent.”
The big picture: “I think it is part of the game to make sure everyone is fearful so we continue this process. Long term, I think raising the debt limit is a negative because it delays the inevitable. It will give us much bigger problems down the road. Today and tomorrow, if Moody’s does not lower the bond rating, it will be helpful in the short run. In the long run, it will be more devastating because Congress will go back to their old habits again.” Said otherwise: Moody’s is concerned about US debt now, but is not concerned if US were more tomorrow – sheer idiocy.”

Paul on whether the AAA rating is worth saving:
“Probably not. I think if you had a market evaluation on this issue, it should have marked down a long time ago. I always wonder about these ratings. Bond ratings before the crash three years ago were not very helpful. Sometimes I wonder whether this is more of a political theater to build up the fear. First, we won’t be able to write the checks for Social Security and the next thing there’ll be a down rating of bonds.”

IS ANY TAXATION THE ANSWER?
by JB Williams, ©2011
Cartoon from 1933 regarding the argument about a sales tax vs. an income tax. Why have Americans accepted the imposition of many different taxes on their earnings?
(Jul. 14, 2011) — Nothing in life is more certain than death and taxes. But the notion that there is or will ever be anything fair about either of these life realities, is just plain foolhardy.
Ever heard the phrase – you can’t get blood from a turnip…? Sounds like a silly old analogy from days gone by, but it happens to remain true today. People who can’t pay taxes don’t pay taxes, and that’s why people, who can pay, will always pay for everyone. Fairness isn’t even part of the equation.
In his July 11 Part III of his Economic Vision statement, presidential candidate Herman Cain does his best to pitch the “Fair Tax” – a libertarian economic proposal that offers to replace the federal income tax with a national sales (consumption) tax.

Why Salt Is Addictive: It Stimulates the Brain Cells Just Like Cigarettes and Hard Drugs
Some will no doubt take the news with a pinch of salt.
But researchers claim that salt is addictive in the same way as cigarettes or hard drugs, with the craving triggering the same genes, brain cells and brain connections.
The finding could help explain why many find it so hard to cut back on salt, despite warnings about dangers to blood pressure and heart health.
For the study, Australian and American scientists kept some mice on low-salt diets and gave others a salt drip.
Activity in the creatures’ brains was then compared with that in mice fed normally. They also studied the brains of mice that had been starved of salt for three days and then given salty water to drink freely.
When the rodents were in need of salt, brain cells made proteins more usually linked to addiction to substances such as heroin, cocaine and nicotine.
Professor Derek Denton, of the University of Melbourne, said: ‘In this study we have demonstrated that one classic instinct, the hunger for salt, is providing neural organisation that subserves addiction to opiates and cocaine.’
The study also revealed that after salt was taken, the brain believes it has received its fix well before it should be physically possible.

The Debt Debate’s Real Doomsday Scenario
The Debt Debate’s Real Doomsday Scenario
The Debt Debate’s Real Doomsday Scenario:
“On Tuesday, in the late morning, I asked a banker to explain what will happen if the debt ceiling is not raised on August 2. He was not just any banker; he was and is the authority on the U.S. bond market at one of the biggest banks in the world.
He is in touch with the Treasury Department, and the Treasury Department is in touch with him. When I asked the bank if I could speak to someone about the debt ceiling, it wouldn’t let me speak to anyone but him.
He is a good source, and what he told me should have calmed me down about this whole government-created government crisis, because what he told me was that even if Congress doesn’t raise the debt ceiling, the Treasury Department will not stop paying the interest on its debts.
