Obama Siding With U.N. Against Reforms Proposed in U.S. House

August 30, 2011 1 comment

Even as the Obama administration admonishes the United Nations for an “unwarranted” pay hike for staffers, it is going to bat for the United Nations against proposed legislation proposed in Congress that would revolutionize the way America finances international institutions and give Washington better leverage over them.

Proponents of the legislation, offered today by the chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Republican of Florida, say that no matter how hard the administration fights against it, the current political climate presents an opportunity to rethink how American taxpayers finance Turtle Bay.

“This is the only way to create real reform, especially given U.S. budgetary stringency,” the former ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton, told the Sun. “This is the time to act,” he added. “The State Department may lobby hard” against Ms. Ros-Lehtinen’s proposal, “but the times they are a changin’.”

Mr. Bolton has long advocated reforming the way America pays its dues to the world body. He has called for Washington to finance only those U.N. units and programs it deems to advance America’s interests, rather than pay according to an assessment made by the General Assembly. His initiative is widely considered the basis for Ms. Ros-Lehtinen’s bill.

State Department officials say that voluntary-based U.N. dues would cut the amount of American contribution to the U.N. by half and undercut its world leadership….

Science: Experiments performed by a European nuclear research group indicate that the sun, not man, determines Earth’s temperature. Somewhere, Al Gore just shuddered as an unseasonably cool breeze blows by.

The results from an experiment to mimic Earth’s atmosphere by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, tell researchers that the sun has a significant effect on our planet’s temperature. Its magnetic field acts as a gateway for cosmic rays, which play a large role in cloud formation.

Consequently, when the sun’s magnetic field allows cosmic rays to seed cloud cover, temperatures are cooler. When it restricts cloud formation by deflecting cosmic rays away from Earth, temperatures go up.

Or, as the London Telegraph‘s James Delingpole delicately put it:

“It’s the sun, stupid.”

This new finding of 63 scientists from 17 European and U.S. institutes from an experiment that’s been ongoing since 2009 is, if we may paraphrase Vice President Joe Biden, a big deal. Which is exactly why the mainstream media, with so much invested in global warming hysteria, is letting last week’s announcement from CERN pass like a brief summer shower, ignoring it.

Even CERN’s own director general, Rolf-Dieter Heuer, is trying to avoid the meaning of the findings.

He told Germany’s Die Welt Online that he’s “asked the colleagues to present the results clearly, but not to interpret them. That would go immediately into the highly political arena of the climate change debate.”

Carney: We’re “Fairly Confident” Hillary Won’t Run Against Obama:

RUSH: Folks, there’s a new poll out there by CNN. Now, get this. A new poll by CNN, and something called ORC International, and the poll finds 27% of Democrats, I mean that’s one in four, 25, 27%, one in four Democrats would like to see their party nominate a candidate other than Obama, 2012. I told you this is going on in the bowels of the Democrat Party. Twenty-five percent of Democrats wish somebody besides Obama would be on the ballot. One in four Democrats would like to dump Obama. Now, we gotta be fair about this. This poll was taken between August 24th and 25th, which is before Obama saved us all from Hurricane Irene. So it might not be that high now since he did such a great job of saving us all from Hurricane Irene. Snerdley is smirking at me.

Panel reveals new details of 1940′s experiment

Panel reveals new details of 1940′s experiment:

ATLANTA (AP) — A presidential panel on Monday disclosed shocking new details of U.S. medical experiments done in Guatemala in the 1940s, including a decision to re-infect a dying woman in a syphilis study.

The Guatemala experiments are already considered one of the darker episodes of medical research in U.S. history, but panel members say the new information indicates that the researchers were unusually unethical, even when placed into the historical context of a different era.

“The researchers put their own medical advancement first and human decency a far second,” said Anita Allen, a member of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues.

From 1946-48, the U.S. Public Health Service and the Pan American Sanitary Bureau worked with several Guatemalan government agencies to do medical research — paid for by the U.S. government — that involved deliberately exposing people to sexually transmitted diseases.

The researchers apparently were trying to see if penicillin, then relatively new, could prevent infections in the 1,300 people exposed to syphilis, gonorrhea or chancroid. Those infected included soldiers, prostitutes, prisoners and mental patients with syphilis.

Semper Fi Vs. "SEMPER FIDELIS"! I recall vividly a day in 1953 at Tent Camp #3, at CJHP, when M/Sgt Tony Virginia pointed out to me that "Semper Fi" did not mean Semper Fidelis; it was not an abbreviation of Semper Fidelis, nor did it have anything positive in common with Semper Fidelis. “THE TICKET TO INSURE FREEDOM

by One Pissed-off Vietnam Vet

Pol Pot was dictator of Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, during which 21% of the population died as a result of executions and malnutrition

(Aug. 30, 2011) — There was a time not too long ago when kings ruled the land. Some kings were good to their subjects, which was rare, but as long as the subjects were satisfied or didn’t know any other way, the king had nothing to fear, although most, if not all, had a food taster.

Then, I think, a time came when crowns went out of fashion, and who ever heard of a crownless king? So the crownless kings started to call themselves rulers. But after a while, the word “ruler” lost its edge. Go ahead: say “ruler” out loud. Nice word, as far as your mouth and tongue go; really smooth, which is why the rulers needed a new word, a harsher-sounding word. So they came up with “dictator.” Now there’s a word to please even the most ardent ruler. “King” had a few harsh sounds, but “dictator” has even more.

But in order to qualify for the moniker “dictator,” they had to exhibit certain traits. For example, they had to be egomaniacs to the nth degree. Anyone questioning their thought process was likely to be erased, and dictators were always imagining complicated plots against them. Well, maybe they weren’t imagining and maybe the plots weren’t all that complicated, which is why there never has been a “benevolent dictator.” Today, when we refer to a person in power as being a dictator, we mean he’s not all there, he’s not put together quite right, he thinks he knows better, he suffers delusions, is paranoid, and, last but certainly not least, the dictator goes so far as to fantasize that the people actually like him.

Whether you call the person calling the shots a king, ruler, or dictator, there comes a time when the subjects, people, and lesser beings get sick and tired of being abused, so they are forced to start a revolution. Most revolts are short-lived because the dictator is so incompetent that even his closest advisers can readily support his removal. And then there are revolts that can last years, and those are caused by the police and the military fighting for the dictator and against the people, which is the most wasteful because there can be but one outcome: the people always win, and by the time they do win, they are so upset they are very likely to hang the dictator from a lamp post, as the Italians did to Mussolini.

Once the king is removed, some form of government must take its place: enter the United States Constitution, a document designed to ensure the rights of the individual, to ensure that America will no longer be ruled by a king, to ensure the peace and tranquility without a dictator. The Constitution ensures liberty over tyrants, freedom over abuse, and justice over lawlessness. The Constitution is the ticket that all patriotic Americans have to insure their freedom. Without that ticket, we subject ourselves to a dictator who circumvents the Congress, and thereby the people, as, for example, by the implementation of the “Dream Act.” It is impossible to support Obama remaining in office and support the United States Constitution at the same time. You either have a dictator OR you have freedom; it’s that simple……………………

Never-Wrong Pundit Picks Obama to Win in 2012

Never-Wrong Pundit Picks Obama to Win in 2012:

Allan Lichtman, the American University professor whose election formula has correctly called every president since Ronald Reagan’s 1984 re-election, has a belated birthday present for Barack Obama: Rest easy, your re-election is in the bag.

“Even if I am being conservative, I don’t see how Obama can lose,” says Lichtman, the brains behind The Keys to the White House.

Lichtman’s prediction helps to explain a quirk in some polling that finds that while Americans disapprove of the president, they still think he will win re-election………

Most Americans Still Have No Idea What the Health Care Law Does

Nona Willis Aronowitz – Associate Editor

August 29, 2011 • 3:00 pm PDT

It’s now been more than a year since President Obama signed the much-debated—and much-maligned—Affordable Care Act, and even longer since the details of the bill dominated the airwaves. It seems all that time has taken a toll on our memories. A new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that the number of Americans who understand what’s in the health care bill is declining.

The Hill points out that last summer, 72 percent of people polled were aware that the new law will provide financial assistance to people who must buy insurance on their own, rather than getting it from an employer. Now, that number is down to 58 percent. While two-thirds of respondents last year knew the law expands Medicaid, fewer than half know that now. Just 29 percent knew that the law eliminates copays for some preventive services, and half said the law did not provide that benefit—despite the Department of Health’s recent announcement that it would require plans to make birth control and other women’s health services copay-free.

This is what happens when sweeping legislation takes years to be enacted; most provisions of the health care bill won’t take effect until 2014, though some have already taken effect. But major parts of the bill, like the individual mandate or the elimination of annual limits for insurance coverage, are still years away from being put into practice.

Given this astounding gap, can you blame people for hating “Obamacare” when all they hear about is the president getting sued for the law being unconstitutional, or businesses planning to drop coverage from their plans? Nancy Pelosi may have gotten a lot of heat for saying “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it,” but it turns out she’s right. We won’t be able to judge public opinion on the Affordable Care Act until Americans tangibly feel its effect.

Meanwhile, if you need a refresher on what the health care bill does, the government has a useful timeline and the Kaiser Foundation has a pretty thorough explainer (pdf). For an even more abridged summary, check out this very cute video.

The U.N. Has To Go

Well, I must admit that I am quite tickled to see Rick Perry calling Social Security a Ponzi Scheme and a “monumental lie”. This is progress. I don’t trust any politician any further than I can throw him – by his toe knuckle hair. But, just the fact that these words of truth are being uttered at all is encouraging. If you haven’t seen my YouTube videos on SocSec, they are on my YouTube channel, and the link is on the nav bar to your left. Here is the next DEMAND that MUST be made of politicians. The United Nations is a criminal organization. It is an evil mafia. Straight up. It has no legitimacy and serves no good purpose whatsoever. Not only that, but the U.N. is actively engaged in sedition against the United States and its constitution via the Small Arms Treaty, Agenda 21, and the “Resolution Against Religious Defamation”, which is Sharia Law, among other things. The U.N. is also embezzling and redistributing U.S. tax dollars to criminal and corrupt regimes, many of which are engaged in war, both overt and covert, against the United States, and in genocides against their own people. The U.N. is also using the United States military as its de facto mercenary force (see Libya and Yemen). This MUST stop.

Let’s start with the presidential candidates and ask the following simple question: As president, will you permanently withdraw the United States from the U.N. and permanently expel the U.N. from American soil? Yes or no. And it damn well better be “yes”.

Any politician who doesn’t have the guts to stand up to the U.N. evil mafia isn’t worthy to be president. Period.

Finally, let’s hear another round of awesomeness from Pat Condell regarding the U.N. and their “human rights council”. The insanity that Mr. Condell outlines truly boggles the mind. The only clarification I would make to Mr. Condell’s words is to remind him that islam is NOT a religion, but a totalitarian, militaristic, expansionist, seditious political system with an attached faux-religious mythology. As an atheist, Mr. Condell would argue that point as being moot. And then I would pray that someone would drop a copy of the Summa in his lap. And then we would go get some fish and chips.

On election night, November 2, 2010, Rep. John Boehner said in his victory speech:

…While our new majority will serve as your voice in the people’s House, we must remember it is the president who sets the agenda for our government. … [emphasis added]

Next morning, Ezra Klein commented in the Cult of the President lives on:

I’d like Boehner to show us where in the Constitution it says that the president sets the agenda for the government.

But Boehner is not as astute as Ezra Klein, and does not know that it is our Constitution which sets the “agenda” for the federal government. The agenda the Constitution sets restricts the federal government to war, international relations & commerce; and domestically, the establishment of an uniform commercial system: a monetary system based on gold & silver, weights & measures, patents & copyrights, a bankruptcy code, and mail delivery (Art. I, Sec. 8, cls.1-16).

1

And because none of the House Republicans seem to know that our Constitution sets the agenda, and don’t know that our Constitution also enumerates the powers delegated to the President, they are allowing Obama to carry out his “agenda” to transform our Country into a fascist dictatorship……………..

I was present with a group of friends when we were graced with the presence of Representative Jeff Landry (R-3rd district). He spoke of his activity in the House of Representatives and commented on much of what’s going on in Washington.

One of the most important things said was his answer to a reporter in The Daily Beast Blog when asked about who comprises the membership of the Tea Party. It was his stance and public statement the Tea Party movement isn’t a political party in the standard form but more a “grass roots” operation composed of many people over the age of 55. These people are the children of the “Greatest Generation”; the generation sacrificing the most in recent history in their participation on the world stage to stem Nazi and Imperial Japanese efforts at world conquest. That same generation leapt to action against the growth and tempering of the Iron Curtain and Red Chinese insurgency in Korea……..

President Obama has Tour Buses Flown to Stump Speeches

RedState ^ | Monday, August 29th, 2011 | Ben Howe

Posted on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 12:55:40 PM by Hunton Peck

President Obama has been touring all over the midwest these past few weeks, giving speeches to crowds of fans, anxious to hear what’s next on his agenda. One could be forgiven for believing that these are less about pushing the president’s current agenda, and more about launching the reelection campaign, however this is a charge that the administration adamantly denies.

But there is a very simple reason that this is viewed as more of a campaign effort. Boasting bulletproof windows, five inch thick doors, and it’s own oxygen supply, the President has made the rounds for these speeches in a multi-million dollar bus, dubbed “The Beast” by it’s critics. There’s been no shortage of opinions from people and pundits on this bus and how having the President tour around the midwest in a caravan of cars and seated on a tour bus sends the message that he is on the campaign trail and using taxpayer dollars to do it.

It appears however, that this might not be the case. According to some sources he hasn’t really been riding these buses much at all. They say, he’s been flying them…………….

Napolitano Says She’s Deporting Enough Illegal Immigrants

August 30, 2011 Leave a comment

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano indicated today that the U.S. doesn’t need to boost the annual number of illegal immigrant deportations, now 400,000 annually, because she’s grabbing most of the criminals and sending them home.

“If we come to the point where we are unable to remove everybody we know has a threat to security or has a criminal record, violated criminal laws, or that we’ve caught right at the border, or is a fugitive, or has multiple reentries and we don’t have the resources to remove those, then the Congress should look at the resources they give us,” she told Washington Whispers during a roundtable interview sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

[Check out political cartoons about illegal immigration.]

Napolitano, who recently changed the priorities on who gets the boot, said that the focus will now be more on criminals. Currently, the annual 400,000 deportations are split evenly between those with criminal records and those with no record.

But she didn’t downplay the threat illegal immigrants, estimated at 12 million, are to the nation.

“Let’s not minimize. Almost half of the 400,000 people we deported last year had a criminal record of some sort. So that’s a fairly robust [statistic],” she said. What’s more, under the controversial new rules changes, she said that “the composition of who we deport is going to be changing and going in that direction over time. That’s what it’s designed to do, turning the ship” to kick out more criminals.

Almost eclipsed by the PR disaster of his lavish vacation at Martha’s Vineyard was the PR debacle of President Obama’s “listening tour,” in which he blasted through small towns in a gigantic motorcade dominated by two million-dollar Canadian buses, pausing to give political speeches before hand-picked audiences. Although clearly a part of Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, this was all funded by the U.S. taxpayer, and the expense was enormous.

It turns out it might have been even more enormous than we thought, because the whole “bus tour” was a gigantic fraud. As related by Rob Port at Say Anything:

When will Obama crack in public?

by Mychal Massie

At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, “Get used to it” – and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to “get a more fuel-efficient car.”

The Obamas behave as if they were sharecroppers living in a trailer and hit the Powerball, but instead of getting new tires for their trailer and a new pickup truck, they moved to Washington . And instead of making possum pie, with goats and chickens in the front yard, they’re spending and living large at taxpayer expense – opulent vacations, gala balls, resplendent dinners and exclusive command performances at the White House, grand date nights, golf, basketball, more golf, exclusive resorts and still more golf. In the 1950′s they called it acting (NIGGER RICH)

Expensive, ill-fitting and ill-chosen wigs and fashions hardly befit the first lady of the United States *. The Obamas have behaved in every way but presidential – which is why it’s so offensive when we hear Obama say, in order “to restore fiscal responsibility, we all need to share in the sacrifice – but we don’t have to sacrifice the America we believe in.”

The American people have been sacrificing; it is he and his family who are behaving as if they’ve never had two nickels to rub together – and now, having hit the mother lode, they’re going to spend away their feelings of inadequacy at the taxpayers’ expense.

Obama continues to exhibit behavior that, at best, can be described as mobocratic and, at worst, reveals a deeply damaged individual. In a February 2010 column, I asked, “Is Obama unraveling?” I wrote that it was beginning to appear the growing mistrust of him and contempt for his policies was beginning to have a destabilizing effect on him.

At that time, I wrote that not having things go one’s way can be a bitter pill, but reasonable people don’t behave as he was behaving. He had insulted Republicans at their luncheon, where he had been an invited guest. I had speculated that was, in part, what had led him to falsely accuse Supreme Court justices before Congress, the nation and the world, during the 2010 State of the Union address.

It appeared, at that time, as if he were “fraying around the emotional edges.” That behavior has not abated – it has become more pronounced. While addressing the nation, after being forced to explain the validity of his unilateral aggression with Libya , America witnessed a petulant individual scowling and scolding the public for daring to insist he explain his actions.

But during an afternoon speech to address the budget/debt, he took his scornful, unstable despotic behavior to depths that should give the nation cause for concern. Displaying a dark psychopathy more representative of an episode of “The Tudors” television series, he invited Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to sit in the front row during his speech and then proceeded to berate both Ryan and Ryan’s budget-cutting plan. Even liberal Democrats were put off by the act. MSNBC‘s Joe Scarborough questioned the sanity of Obama’s actions.

Today, criticism is coming from all sides. A senior Democrat lawmaker said, “I have been very disappointed in [Obama], to the point where I’m embarrassed that I endorsed him. It’s so bad that some of us are thinking, is there some way we can replace him? How do you get rid of this guy?” (“Democrats’ Disgust with Obama,” The Daily Beast, April 15, 2011)

Steve McCann wrote: Obama’s speech “was chock full of lies, deceit and crass fear-mongering. It must be said that [he] is the most dishonest, deceitful and mendacious person in a position of power I have ever witnessed” (“The Mendacity of Barack Obama,”AmericanThinker.com, April 15, 2011).

McCann continued: “[His] performance was the culmination of four years of outright lies and narcissism that have been largely ignored by the media, including some in the conservative press and political class who are loath to call [him] what he is in the bluntest of terms: a liar and a fraud. That he relies on his skin color to intimidate, either outright or by insinuation [against] those who oppose his radical agenda only add to his audacity. It is apparent that he has gotten away with his character flaws his entire life, aided and abetted by sycophants around him. …”

With these being among the kinder rebukes being directed at Obama, and with people becoming less intimidated by his willingness to use race as a bludgeon, with falling poll numbers in every meaningful category and an increasingly aggressive tea-party opposition – how much longer before he cracks completely?

The coming months of political life are not going to be pleasant for Obama. Possessed by a self-perceived palatine mindset, that in his mind places him above criticism, how long before he cracks in public? Can America risk a man with a documented track record of lying and misrepresenting truth as a basic way of life, who is becoming increasingly more contumelious?

Yet it was the authors of this 138-page report that demonstrated a real phobia when they evaded the urgent question: Does America have a reason to fear Muslims?

Europe warns America that the answer is yes, but – most urgently – Europe also warns that moderate Muslims have the most to fear. The political Islamists who have segregated western Europe into many hundreds of sharia-compliant zones where women’s rights are stripped away and non-Muslims fear to tread (yes, this is real fear) have Europe in a state of panic. For America to foolishly stumble down this road to the same predictable and desperate dead-end would be absurd. Yet by trying to muzzle all who attempt to engage this cultural conversation, CAP’s progressives intend to commit America to the same disastrous course.

It is true that some who encourage the American debate are not careful to make the distinction between moderate and sharia-driven Muslims – and it also may be true that some do not believe there is a distinction to be made. But Fear, Inc. insistently framed all sincere efforts to confront the Islamist agents of radicalization as hate-motivated. I know; I happen to have been pivotally involved in one of the reports’ showcase examples of reported Islamophobia. Not surprisingly, the readily available facts tell a very different story.

It was not fear of Muslims that drove the February protest of two radical imams in Yorba Linda, Calif; rather, it was widespread alarm over news that Abdel Malik Ali would be headlining a local Muslim fundraiser. In fact, there was so much community outrage over the invitation of a Hamas-supporting, extremist agitator, city officials asked that the sponsor group rescind Ali’s invitation. The response: Not a chance. So the only way for the community to express opposition to the imam’s message was to appear for an organized “patriotic and peaceful protest.”

Also attending, though not invited, were hecklers who provided CAIR’s waiting video cameras with fodder for a full-scale propaganda campaign. Although CAIR clipped from the official video which showed speakers affirming moderate Muslims over a dozen times, the CAIR product intentionally and singularly hyped ignorance, hate and hysteria. Fear, Inc. perpetuated the fraud by disregarding the real concerns that drove the protest – as well as the message that the main rally sent – and both have cynically exploited an opportunity to alienate Muslims who would have appreciated the commitment of 500 Americans to denounce radical Islam. The message is that Islamists get a pass, while Americans willing to ask the critical questions about constitutional concerns are condemned.

Another of the travesties committed by the efforts to stifle debate is that Muslim leaders are not held accountable to clearly define the practice of Islam in America. A recent speech by Los Angeles CAIR Director Hassam Ayloush described sharia as the essence of goodness, justice, mercy and equality. He instructed the faithful to defend sharia as “enforcing many of the beautiful values of the [American] Constitution.” Ayloush obviously expects all to take his poetic platitudes at face value and not note the reproach that arose from the very crowd assembled to hear him speak; all attendees were male.

As the video camera swept the Islamic Institute of Orange County training session audience of “brothers,” not one sister was apparently present. From separated prayer and teaching meetings to the covering of women to marriage and divorce rules that disadvantage females, it is deceitful to call sharia’s discriminatory practices consistent with the spirit or letter of the American Constitution.

America deserves straight answers about whether sharia dictates that men, as heads of households, may apply “light [physical] disciplinary action” when their wives commit a “moral infraction.” This was the interpretation offered by Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America, Muzammil Siddiqi, to soften the Koranic instruction regarding “women on whose part you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly)” (An-Nisa’: 34-35).

And do Muslim leaders still agree that “all Islamic schools of jurisprudence consider “gay acts to be unlawful” but only disagree on the “terms of penalty”? Where is the call from CAP to square these practices with American constitutional due process, equal protection, equal rights and freedom of conscience?

Ayloush relied upon the same lexicon of fluff words for defining jihad as “striving for goodness.” Apparently this clarification was not received by the Muslims in the Norwegian asylum center last week who beat and burned a Muslim convert to Christianity, “doing jihad” to punish the convert’s violation of the Ramadan fast.

Clarity and leadership are desperately needed from Muslim teachers who must explicitly say reform is expected of the hardliners. Otherwise Americans and Europeans can only then conclude that the harsh sharia terms still stand behind the façade of frothy pronouncements of truth and light.

It is time to challenge the soft peddling of sharia in America. Either Muslims hold to a divinely dictated, and clerically interpreted, system of unassailable rules – or they consent in word and deed to a secular system of self rule, founded upon constitutional standards.

Cherokee Nation Revokes Citizenship Rights of Black Slave Descendants

August 30, 2011 1 comment

Just a week ago this Monday, the Cherokee Nation’s Supreme Court ruled that the tribe may revoke the citizenship rights of black members. The case stemmed from a 2007 vote in which the Nation amended its constitution to allow the expulsion of the descendants of Cherokee-held slaves; this inspired a lawsuit by the “Freedmen,” as the black Cherokee are known. A district court found in favor of the Freedmen, but the Supreme Court overturned that ruling, arguing that the Cherokee alone have a right to determine who is and is not a fellow tribesman. The result is that these erstwhile Cherokees, approximately 3,000 strong, will now be denied benefits that inclusion in the tribe affords, such as free healthcare and education, and voting and housing rights.

The Freedman had enjoyed Cherokee citizenship status ever since it was granted through a treaty with the U.S. government after the War Between the States. Previous to this, the Cherokees, along with tribes such as the Choctaw and Creeks, kept thousands of African slaves (additionally, some Indians allied themselves with the Confederacy during the war).

While these facts aren’t generally found in school textbooks, they should surprise no one. Slavery was once ubiquitous throughout the world, and North America’s indigenous people were no exception. For their embrace of the institution predated the white settlers’ arrival; moreover, this event presented new slaveholding opportunities: Some Indians made slaves of Europeans as well as Africans.

The Islamist Threat Inside Our Military

August 30, 2011 Leave a comment

Our armed forces are becoming ground zero for American Muslims in the ideological struggle between Americanism and Islamism. U.S. Army Pvt. Naser Abdo points to that serious conflict.

Pvt. Abdo was arrested recently in possession of weapons and explosive materials. Investigators say he told them he planned to attack the military. The private has publicly complained that he faced discrimination because he is Muslim.

How many Islamists gone militant do we need to attack us before our military addresses radicalization among its Muslim members? Political correctness and denial are not working.

The vast majority of Muslims serve with honor and distinction. They are not the problem. The problem is the subset of Muslims who are Islamists.

Naser Abdo was arrested on July 27, 2011, in Killeen, Texas, in a motel near Fort Hood, site of the massacre in November 2009. As he was led out of a federal courtroom, he shouted “Nidal Hasan Fort Hood 2009!” And like Maj. Hasan, the shooter in that massacre, he did not become a militant overnight. Radicalization is a natural evolution for an individual consumed by the narrative of anti-American, theo-political Islamism.

There is an irreconcilable conflict between allegiance to the United States, with its secular Constitution, and fealty to the consciousness of an Islamist state that centers on the Quran as its constitution and the ummah (Muslim nation) as its global citizenry. The crucial question a Muslim soldier needs to be asked is this: “Do you have any sense of loyalty to the ummah and its Islamic state?” Those who answer in the affirmative pose a problem.

White House Issues Guides on Sept. 11 Observances

WASHINGTON — The White House has issued detailed guidelines to government officials on how to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, with instructions to honor the memory of those who died on American soil but also to recall that Al Qaeda and other extremist groups have since carried out attacks elsewhere in the world, from Mumbai to Manila.

The White House in recent days has quietly disseminated two sets of documents. One is framed for overseas allies and their citizens and was sent to American embassies and consulates around the globe. The other includes themes for Americans here and underscores the importance of national service and what the government has done to prevent another major attack in the United States. That single-page document was issued to all federal agencies, officials said.

After weeks of internal debate, White House officials adopted the communications documents to shape public events and official statements, and they sought to strike a delicate balance between messages designed for these two very important but very different audiences on a day when the world’s attention will be focused on President Obama, his leadership team and his nation.

The guidelines list what themes to underscore — and, just as important, what tone to set. Officials are instructed to memorialize those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and thank those in the military, law enforcement, intelligence or homeland security for their contributions since.

A Conspiracy of Counterfeiters

August 30, 2011 Leave a comment

Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the Capitalist System was to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.”

“Lenin was certainly right,” John Maynard Keynes continued in his 1919 classic, “The Economic Consequences of the Peace.”

“There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.”

Keynes warned that terrible hatreds would be unleashed against “profiteers” who enriched themselves through inflation as the middle class was wiped out. And he pointed with alarm to Germany, where the mark had lost most of its international value.

By November 1923, the German currency was worthless, hauled about in wheelbarrows to buy groceries. The middle class had been destroyed. German housewives were prostituting themselves to feed their families. That same month, Adolf Hitler attempted his Munich Beer Hall Putsch.

Today a coterie of economists is prodding Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to induce inflation into the American economy.

Fearing falling prices, professor Kenneth Rogoff, former chief economist for the International Monetary Fund, is pushing for an inflation rate of 5 to 6 percent while conceding that his proposal is rife with peril and “we could end up with 200 percent inflation.”

Paul Krugman, Nobel Prize winner and columnist for The New York Times, is pushing Bernanke in the same direction.

Bernanke, writes Krugman, should take the advice he gave Japan in 2000, when he urged the Bank of Japan to stimulate the economy with “an announcement that the bank was seeking moderate inflation, ‘setting a target in the 3-4 percent range for inflation, to be maintained for a number of years.’”

And who inspired Bernanke to urge Tokyo to inflate? Krugman modestly credits himself.

“Was Mr. Bernanke on the right track? I think so — as well I should, since his paper was partly based on my own earlier work.”

But Krugman is not optimistic about Bernanke’s injecting the U.S. economy with a sufficient dose of inflation.

Why is Ben hesitant? Two words, says Krugman: “Rick Perry.”

Krugman believes Bernanke has been intimidated by Perry’s populist threat in Iowa after his first day of campaigning:

“If this guy (Bernanke) prints more money between now and the election, I don’t know what y’all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treasonous.”

Perry was indulging in Texas hyperbole, and the press came down hard on him for language unbefitting a presidential candidate.

Yet Perry has raised a legitimate series of questions.

What should be done to high officials of the U.S. government who consciously set out to dilute and destroy the savings and income of working Americans? What should be done to those who have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution and then steal the wealth of citizens by secretly manipulating the value of the currency, the store of wealth upon which those people depend?

Is inducing inflation — debauching the currency, the systematic and secret theft of the savings of citizens — a legitimate policy option for the Federal Reserve? Has Congress authorized official thievery?

Who do these economists think they are?

Inflation rewards debt — and erodes savings. It is legalized counterfeiting, the deliberate creation of money with nothing to back it up.

If a citizen printed dollars bills, he would be tracked by the Secret Service, prosecuted and imprisoned. Why, then, is the Fed’s clandestine printing of money with nothing to back it up a legitimate exercise and, according to Krugman & Co., a desirable policy for Bernanke and the Fed?

Schooled economists such as Rogoff, Krugman and Bernanke know how to shelter their wealth from the ravages of inflation — and even to get rich. But what about widows whose husbands leave a nest egg of savings in cash and bonds? What are they supposed to do as the value of their savings is wiped out at 4, 5 or 6 percent a year — or whatever annual rate of ruin the Rogoffs and the Krugmans decide upon?

This is not only an economic issue but a moral issue.

To inflate a currency is to steal the money citizens have earned and saved and entrusted their government to protect. Any government that betrays that trust and steals that wealth is not only unworthy of support. It is worthy of being overthrown.

On this one, as Keynes said, Lenin was right.

Perry and Ron Paul deserve the nation’s gratitude for putting this issue of the unfettered power and the amorality of our unelected Federal Reserve on the political docket.

Surrogate Smack-Down by Brian Wilson:

You just want me to say something bad about Ron Paul, don’t you? Well alright – well, let me just say:

Ron Paul…he can’t win…he can’t get elected…he’ll never get the nomination. Ron Paul means 4 more years of Obama. Ron Paul is the wacky uncle who shows up at the family picnic and everyone tries to ignore. I mean, I love the guy’s passion for the Constitution but his wacky foreign policy ideas, wanting Iran to have nukes! Well, that’s just insane.

Tell ya what – he should just drop out of the race and when whichever true GOP candidate wins the White House appoint Ron Paul to head the Fed! Then he can audit the Fed all he wants! That’s it! Or make him Secretary of the Treasury!

Yeah. That’s the ticket!

Lew Rockwell himself will tell you:…

Ron Paul’s Vice Presidential Choices by Walter Block and Steve Berger

Andrew Napolitano. The Judge has a print and electronic record a mile long. And, he keeps hitting home runs; no Gary Johnson, he. Judge Napolitano is a charismatic, telegenic presence who is always willing to stand up to the Fox News neo-nuts clamor for war-mongering and Wall Street bailouts. With a Paul/Napolitano ticket, the Republicans would finally have a team that has read, understood, and would honor the original intent of the Constitution. This includes reducing the power of the imperial presidency, engaging in wars for only self-defense purposes, not imperialism, ensuring that Congress declares them, freeing up the economy and promoting personal liberty and responsibility. In any one-on-one debate, Napolitano would overwhelm Biden.

Rand Paul. There have been father and son presidents in the past. The Adamses and the Bushes come to mind. Well, let’s forget the latter duo, please. There has never been a father son pair running for President and Vice President at the same time, however. Well, there is thus a case for breaking that particular pattern. A Paul-Paul Republican ticket would be unique, and attract global attention on that ground alone. It would certainly lay to rest any fears about Ron Paul’s age; should he, God forbid, perish in office, there would be another Paul immediately ready to step into the breach. (Not that this is a reasonable fear: the present authors bet that Dr. Ron Paul could beat any of his competitors for the Republican nomination in any reasonable test of strength or endurance. A former track runner, Congressman Paul could run rings around any of them. However, we make a concession here: if there were a pie-eating contest, our money would be on Newt Gingrich). One more reason for a Rand Paul Vice Presidential run: think of how that would upset the Republican hierarchy!…………………….

Is secret lair being built under the White House? West Wing vanishes behind a fence in $86 million ear-splitting project | Mail Online

What lies beneath: The secret passageway, Armageddon-proof bunker (and basement bowling alley) under the President’s feet

The White House already has a number of tunnels — the exact number is, of course, classified.

The most well known is the underground corridor that leads to the President’s Emergency Operations Center (PEOC), a supposedly nuclear-proof bunker located six stories under the East Wing.

It was to this bunker and its adjacent Executive Briefing Room that Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice, among others, directed Government operations on September 11, 2001.

Bunker

Underground command: President George Bush and his senior staff in the President’s Emergency Operations Center, built during World War Two for President Roosevelt

While Hollywood and many conspiracy theorists suggest a rabbit warren of subterranean passageways — including mythical tunnels to Capitol Hill and even Camp David — there is at least one hidden passageway that has been revealed in the famous residence.

A 50-yard tunnel leads from a concealed doorway in the Oval Office to the basement of the First Family’s residence in the East Wing.

The clandestine passage was built during Ronald Reagan’s presidency as a way to guard the President in a terrorist attack……………………..
