Obama: 153 Bridges Will Collapse (Another Scare Tactic)

RUSH: So I’m walking through the library last night, the television set’s on, I had it on for other people. I don’t watch it. I had it on. One thing there’s no football on, so why have it on? And I walked by and I hear Obama, I’m not even looking at the screen, I hear Obama say this and I stopped dead in my tracks and I almost started trying to pull my hair out. I said, “Who in the world is gonna believe this?”

OBAMA: There are 153 structurally deficient bridges that need to be repaired. Four of them are near here on or around the Beltline. Why would we wait to act until another bridge falls? (applause)

RUSH: When did the last one fall? What was the first stimulus for? What was the first trillion dollars for to fix all these bridges, 153 structurally deficient bridges. He’s admitting that during his reign, he hasn’t done anything about any of these deficient bridges. You’ve got this little bill he’s waving around. He hasn’t filed a bill. There is no jobs bill of Obama’s that has been filed in Congress. Louie Gohmert filed his own two-page job bill, and it’s called the American Jobs Act. They stole little Barry’s title, stole his name, stole the name of his bill. Little Barry’s out there waving this thing around as though there are millions of jobs in that 155-page thing he’s waving around. And Gallup, I just saw this, Gallup’s got a poll result apparently out there that a majority of Americans want the jobs bill passed. Sorry, majority of Americans, it isn’t gonna be passed. There’s no intention for this thing to pass in all or in part, there’s no way.

How many Democrat senators are up for reelection in 2012? That’s the main reason it’s not gonna be passed. Well, it’s over with 20. There are a lot of Democrat senators up for reelection in 2012. There’s no way this jobs bill is even gonna get a vote in the Senate. There’s no way Dingy Harry is gonna subject his people, not after what happened in New York 9, not after what happened in New Jersey and what happened in Virginia and Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts.

Did he say here on the verge of collapse? No. Hundred fifty-three “structurally deficient bridges” need to be repaired. Where? We need to be told where these 153 bridges are, because if he doesn’t tell us, then the regime — Obama — is holding drivers hostage. He’s letting us drive over 153 bridges that could apparently fail and people could plummet to their deaths at any moment.

Name the bridges! You remember how they demanded specifics from Bush and Tom Ridge on terror threats ’cause they accused those two guys of politicizing terror threats? Well, here. The Bamster says he knows of 153 bridges that could fall down at any moment, and four of them are “near the Beltline in North Carolina,” four of them. name ‘em so that people can avoid them. It is his job to shut them down, not hold their repairs hostage to passing his little tax bill. Do you understand? If he’s serious, 153 bridges are structurally deficient, and rather than fix ‘em, he’s holding the repair hostage and endangering the lives of people that drive on these bridges just so he can get his nonexistent bill passed?

The Men Who Destroyed the Constitution

In his 1850 Disquisition on Government, John C. Calhoun argued that a written constitution would never be sufficient to contain the plundering proclivities of a central government. Some mechanisms for assuring consensus among the citizens of the states regarding “federal” laws would be necessary. Consequently, Calhoun proposed giving citizens of the states veto power over federal laws that they believed were unconstitutional (the “concurrent majority”). He also championed the Jeffersonian idea of nullification. To Calhoun (and Jefferson), states’ rights meant that the citizens of the states were sovereign over the central government that they created as their agent, and could only be so if such mechanisms – including the right of secession – existed.

Without these political mechanisms the forces of nationalism, mercantilism, and political plunder would relentlessly reshape the Constitution with their rhetoric, and their efforts would eventually overwhelm the strict constructionists. At that point the Constitution would become a dead letter.

Ron Paul: A Texas thorn in Rick Perry’s side

Rick Perry and Ron Paul are both Republicans from Texas. Other than that, the two contenders for the Republican presidential nomination have little in common, and their shared party affiliation and state of residence has done nothing to bring them closer.

Whereas Perry is charismatic, smooth and has been a fixture of the Texas political establishment for decades, Paul is blunt, intentionally unpolished, and eager to highlight his frequent departures from party convention.

The two men can’t even agree on whether they’d met before Perry’s first presidential debate earlier this month. Paul said that they had not, while the Perry campaign begs to differ.

“They had met previously,” Perry spokesperson Mark Miner told RealClearPolitics, noting that the Texas governor recalled hosting a meeting earlier in his term with the Texas congressional delegation, which he says Paul attended.

Paul has been particularly eager to contrast himself with Perry in style and substance over the past couple of weeks, and the Republican front-runner has not shied away from responding in kind.

After Perry entered the race last month, Paul denigrated his fellow Texan for being a “candidate of the week” and suggested that Republicans would sour on him once his record was scrutinized more closely. Then Paul released a TV ad in which he called his rival “Al Gore‘s cheerleader,” in reference to Perry’s 1988 endorsement of the Democrat.

So much 9/11 remembering! On the TV. In the newspapers. Even our good pastor, saying a few words of welcome at our mother’s 90th birthday party brought it up.

We pray for Mrs. Bonner. We give thanks for her 90 years…We hope for many more. And we pray for the victims of 9/11…and for the first responders…let us remember them…

But, frankly, we’d rather forget…

9/11 did no serious damage to the nation. As a whole, Americans were not made significantly poorer or significantly less safe. Yes, good people died on 9/11. But there have been a lot of good people murdered over the last 10 years. Every victim had his virtues. And every murderer had his reasons.

What did lasting damage to the nation was not 9/11, it was remembering 9/11. Not only did overreaction to 9/11 play a substantial role in bankrupting the country…it also made Americans fearful and sheepish. They’re convinced the towel-heads are trying to kill them. They believe they can protect themselves by spending trillions of dollars they don’t have on military campaigns that don’t work.

Ten years ago, only a few fanatics wanted to do Americans harm. Now, after throwing so much military weight around, half the world would happily pull the trigger on an American tourist if he had the chance.

Obama trying to unseat Israeli leader? Country’s social protests may be engineered for regime change

JERUSALEM – Is President Obama attempting to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and replace him with a leftist Israeli leader who largely tows the president’s Mideast line?

There are indications the so-called social protests rocking Israel were engineered for that very purpose.

According to an investigative report in Israel’s Maariv’s newspaper, the country’s protests were engineered by a group of media strategists directed by prominent Democratic strategist Stanley Greenberg, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, John Kerry and others.

Greenberg reportedly is working with Israeli strategists who were behind left-wing leader Ehud Barak’s successful race for prime minister in 1999. Greenberg himself helped to run Barak’s campaign.

Barak is currently the Defense Minister in a coalition government with Netanyahu.

Obama’s ineligibility: Muslim-leftist radical in the White House

It has never been clear, who paid for Obama’s Harvard education, but it is possible, if not likely, that the money came from Saudi Arabia.

The question remains; who is Barack Obama and what does he represent?

American politicians and senior government officials know that Obama is an illegal President, has a stolen Social Security Number and has forged his birth documents and Selective Service registration.

We still do not know who Obama is because he presented a forged birth certificate and the political establishment were derelict in their duty not vetting him and now they are complicit in a government-wide cover-up to hide both Obama’s and their own guilt.

Obama is, however, more than just a usurper and criminal. He represents the nexus of fundamentalist Islam and radical leftist ideology. He now controls the most powerful office in the world and believes that America, as the embodiment of evil in the world, must be destroyed.

One only needs to observe Barack and Michelle Obama’s behavior during the recent 9/11 ceremony to know that he is a representative of anti-American interests.

The Democrats are hopelessly corrupt and the Republican Presidential candidates deserve no respect as long as they remain silent while the country experiences, in real-time, the destruction of the Constitution and the greatest crisis since the Civil War.

The American political establishment has obviously not learned from history and we may be doomed to repeat a similar civil conflict.

First Chinese Car In The U.S. More Competitive Thanks To Federal Tax Credits

China‘s first foray into the American auto-market, the all-electric Coda, is now being sold at a dealership in Los Angeles, but it’s not the vehicle some imagined.

With a base price of $44,900, the Coda is $5k more than the Chevy Volt, almost $10k more than the Nissan Leaf, and is far from the cheap model competitors feared would kill their profits. In fact, much of the car is not even made in China.

According to USA Today the Coda’s innovative lithium ion phosphate that gets about 100-miles more per charge than competitors is made by a contractor in China, but is 40 percent owned by the LA based arm of the company (via the Tucson Citizen). The battery is attached to the car in California, and contains many American made electronics.

Coda CEO Phillip Murtaug says the vehicles increased range and cruising speed of 70 mph will give him the edge he needs to compete against better known, lower-priced models. That and the generous federal tax credits, which on all-electric vehicles can be up to $7,500 and bring the total cost down to about $37,400.

According to Coda’s website the car can travel up to 150 miles between charges and can be topped off on the road at any 110-volt outlet. A 220-volt source is advised for home charging which will top the car off completely in about six hours.

The GOP’s Genius Plan to Beat Obama in 2012

Republican state legislators in Pennsylvania are pushing a scheme that, if GOPers in other states follow their lead, could cause President Barack Obama to lose the 2012 election—not because of the vote count, but because of new rules. That’s not all: There’s no legal way for Democrats to stop them.

The problem for Obama, and the opportunity for Republicans, is the electoral college. Every political junkie knows that the presidential election isn’t a truly national contest; it’s a state-by-state fight, and each state is worth a number of electoral votes equal to the size of the state’s congressional delegation. (The District of Columbia also gets three votes.) There are 538 electoral votes up for grabs; win 270, and you’re the president.

Here’s the rub, though: Each state gets to determine how its electoral votes are allocated. Currently, 48 states and DC use a winner-take-all system in which the candidate who wins the popular vote in the state gets all of its electoral votes. Under the Republican plan—which has been endorsed by top GOPers in both houses of the state Legislature, as well as the governor, Tom Corbett—Pennsylvania would change from this system to one where each congressional district gets its own electoral vote. (Two electoral votes—one for each of the state’s two senators—would go to the statewide winner.)

This could cost Obama dearly…

Ninety years ago — in 1921 — federal income-tax policies reached an absurdity that many people today seem to want to repeat. Those who believe in high taxes on “the rich” got their way. The tax rate on people in the top income bracket was 73 percent in 1921. On the other hand, the rich also got their way: They didn’t actually pay those taxes.

The number of people with taxable incomes of $300,000 a year or more — equivalent to far more than $1 million in today’s money — declined from over 1,000 people in 1916 to fewer than 300 in 1921. Were the rich all going broke?

It might look that way. More than four-fifths of the total taxable income earned by people making $300,000 a year and up vanished into thin air. So did the tax revenues that the government hoped to collect with high tax rates on the top incomes.

Deep Corruption at the Obama Justice Dept:Americans should get furious,and fast,about the abuses

Start rattling the chains. Start ratcheting up the hue and cry. Fire up the masses. It’s long past time to force mass resignations at, and possible prosecutions of members of, the Obama Justice Department — and, more broadly, of the West Wing itself.

Forgive all the links, but the scope of the corruption is so large as to defy adequate descriptions, in a single column, of each abomination. The reality is that these Obama/Holder minions at DoJ are dangerous to the very heart of constitutional, republican (small ‘r’) government. Last fall in the Spectator’s print edition I did a broad overview of the problems. In the September issue of The New Criterion, Andy McCarthy does a wonderful job outlining the problems with the Holder department and with other examples of Obamite executive overreach. Of course the Black Panther case, the dismissal of which I (on the Washington Times editorial page) and the Times’ ace reporter Jerry Seper on the news side were the first to report in print (I later discovered that the fabulous Michelle Malkin wrote on it online a day or two earlier), still hasn’t been adequately handled. And the outrageous DoJ blocking of non-partisan elections in Kinston, N.C., solely to benefit the Democratic Party , is now being examined in the courts, with the administration having lost, big, in the latest round.

I jokingly tell folks that I was in the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party. Ever since I was sued by the ACLU for praying with our football players in 1997 I have been trying to warn America that our liberties were under attack.

I salute the efforts of the “regular Moms and Pops” who have given life to the citizen activism. Lord knows where America would be without them. If we could get the “men of the cloth” to get actively involved in opposing the sinful, tyrannical government spitting in the eye of the God the pastors claim to serve we would have a chance to restore a “form of Godliness” to this nation.

But my approach to the Tea Party is different. Obama Campaign: AttackWatch Gains Over 100,000 Sign-Ups In Less Than 24 Hours

A source within the Obama campaign has told Mediaite, that in just the first day, the user-generated research tool has been nothing short of an enormous success. “In less than 24 hours we’ve had over 100,000 people sign up at the website, which indicates significant interest from supporters.”

While the volume of conservative critiques speaks to the intensity of the opposition’s feelings towards the Obama administration, at the very least this digital effort did it’s job bit perhaps instilling a little fear in the GOP campaign efforts. It’s not difficult to imagine social media staffers at the RNC scratching their heads and saying “why didn’t we think of that?”

The essence of AttackWatch is the Obama campaign outsourcing of opposition media research to its army of loyal supporters. Among the critiques leveled at this interactive effort is the notion that this is some vestige of “Big Brother” keeping an eye on citizens opposed to the White House politics. This would be a fairer analysis if it were made before the advent of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. In the brave new world that is oppo research and political smear campaigns, leveraging the passion of one’s political base is not something that we should fear, but rather a smart and savvy political move.

Are people still waving flags and crying “traitor!” toward anyone with the inclination to question directives from the state’s military machine? Or has the mood become more reflective, more contemplative…more conducive to free and open discussion? After a decade at war, fighting on multiple fronts at a cost of trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives, has “war fatigue” finally set in?

“I originally was supportive of George Bush’s call for a war against Saddam Hussein,” responded one reader. “Since then I have come to be a huge believer in Ron Paul and have become disillusioned with our ‘war’ mentality. Thank you for your open dialogue.”

Wrote another, “…[I]t appears that I would be in agreement with the DR writers at this point, even though that would not have been the case 7-10 years ago. I was hoping for ‘getting the job done, and get it over with,’ but that hasn’t happened. Enough is enough now.
