WASHINGTON – President Obama criticized Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio‘s immigration tactics during a round table discussion on immigration Wednesday. The president was asked about a federal investigation into the sheriff’s office and appeared to dodge the question.
A trio of Latin American journalists brought forth questions to president Obama, and their conversation turned towards the government’s investigation of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

U.S. government researchers are warning that someone could sneak an inexpensive piece of electronics into e-voting machines like those to be used in the next national election and then remotely change votes after they have been cast.

Basically, when a voter pushes a button to record his or her votes electronically, the remote hijacker could use a Radio Frequency remote control to intercept that communication, change the votes, and then submit the fraudulent votes for recording.

Fitzpatrick was arrested when he walked out of his sentencing hearing on September 23, 2011 after reading a statement which claimed that the court had no jurisdiction over him.
The phone number to inquire about his well-being and treatment at the jail is 423-442-3911. However, Monroe County sheriff’s deputies have been known to lie. The address where letters can be sent is here.

DOJ says Mexican cartels operating in over 1,000 U.S. cities By Nicholas Ballasy – The Daily Caller 12:12 PM 09/29/2011 ADVERTISEMENT
Mexican-based transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) were “operating in more than a thousand U.S. cities during 2009 and 2010, spanning all nine Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) regions,” according to the U.S. Justice Department’s National Drug Threat Assessment of 2011.
According to the report, the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) assesses with “high confidence” that Mexican-based TCOs “control distribution of most of the heroin, marijuana, and methamphetamine available in the United States” and production of these drugs in Mexico “appears to be increasing.”
However, the report says that an “analysis of law enforcement information reveals variations in the primary type of illicit drugs trafficked by each of the seven main Mexican-based TCOs and the regions of the United States where their operations are concentrated.”
The primary regions where the TCOs have been operating are Florida/Caribbean, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, New England, New York/New Jersey, Pacific, Southeast, Southwest and West Central.
“Mexican-based trafficking organizations control access to the U.S.–Mexico border, the primary gateway for moving the bulk of illicit drugs into the United States,” says the report.
“The organizations control, simultaneously use, or are competing for control of various smuggling corridors that they use to regulate drug flow across the border.”

One Wall St. protestor mentioned a direct correlation between the #Occupy protests and the Tea Party protests, both of which had similar motives and goals, but were directed towards different sectors: Private vs. Public (which is debatable). Like the Tea Party, the #OccupyWallStreet agenda is somewhat unclear, most likely because of the decentralization of its protestors; those of which are coming from all different walks of life and schools of thought. What everyone seems to want is less money in the hands of people in control and more in their own……………..

The Tea Party existed before the media created a monster out of it. There were days when the media was begged to show up at state capitals and sign waver’s events to cover the dissent upon the spending habits of Congress, and nothing was said. Then something happened…the boom of Facebook and Twitter users happened. I’m not saying this is when the social media applications peaked…but a moment came where social media started to drive the daily news on the Tea Party just like the trusted websites of CNN, Fox, and MSNBC. Then they started listening…and soon found out they would make tons of money off of the coverage, so news stations around the country started showing up.
I can even remember back in 2007-2008 as the elections were warming up, the father of the Tea Party, Ron Paul raised $6.4 million in 24 hours partly due to the swift movement of fundraising across the internet. And even then #RonPaulMoneyBomb wasn’t even trending on Twitter, like #OccupyWallStreet has.
If the dissenting protests against Wall St. continue and the momentum builds, I think the media will be there in zero seconds flat, but is that really what people want?

The Department of Justice will work with authorities in Wyoming to violate what remains of Posse Comitatus, according to the Star-Tribune.
“In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, F.E. Warren Air Force Base will collaborate with state and local governments and law enforcement to cut down on underage and irresponsible drinking,” the newspaper reported earlier this week. “State, local and military police will also work together under the program to crack down on drunk people who disobey the law.”
The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs provided funding for the three-year project, estimated to cost $300,000-per-year.
The Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. § 1385), passed on June 18, 1878, following the end of Reconstruction, restricts the federal government from using the military in state and local law enforcement. According to CNBC, the Federal Reserve “is planning on monitoring what you say about it on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook”. Apparently we are not supposed to be alarmed though, because as the CNBC headline states, the Federal Reserve just “wants to be your Facebook friend“. In fact, the CNBC article says that anyone that feels threatened by the fact that the Federal Reserve will be monitoring what we say on Facebook and Twitter is just “paranoid“. Well, if it came out that Barack Obama was setting up a system that would identify “key bloggers” and monitor “billions of conversations” on the Internet to see what was being said about him, wouldn’t there be thousands of articles expressing outrage? Sure there would be. The Federal Reserve is supposed to be an independent central bank that is above politics. According to former CIA agents and historians participating in a forum held at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, in the early 1960s the U.S. government invented the so-called “Missile Gap” and wildly over-estimated the number of ICBMs the Soviet Union had.
How many ICBMs did the Soviets actually have? Four, according to declassified documents.
The Eisenhower administration used aerial reconnaissance and imaging satellites like the Corona Satellite to discover that the Soviets did not have the advanced technology to threaten the U.S.
As a growing number of historians have realized for years, the so-called Cold War was largely an illusion – known as “policy by press release” – invented by the military industrial complex, the same folks who are selling us new wars and conjured-up threats from the likes of al-Qaeda and now the so-called Haqqani network.
“The study of the Missile Gap period is especially relevant because it relates to today’s situation in Iraq, North Korea, and Iran, said historian and author Fred Kaplan and Timothy Naftali, director of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum and a former Harvard student,” writes Laya Anasu for The Crimson.
The invented Missile Gap – an extension of the supposed Bomber Gap – is part of a larger reality that we never hear about and is not revealed in most history books: the entire Soviet threat was invented by Wall Street and the international bankers.
In Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development 1945 to 1965 written by the late Antony Sutton, we discover that if not for a massive transfer of technology and money to the Bolsheviks in the 1920s and later, Russia would have remained an isolated and backwards rural society. Sutton drew his conclusions after reviewing State Department documents.

“Soviet exports in the late sixties were still those of a backward, underdeveloped country. They consisted chiefly of raw materials and semi-manufactured goods,” Sutton writes in the conclusion of his trilogy. “When manufactured goods were exported they were simple machine tools and vehicles based on Western designs, and they were exported to underdeveloped areas,” he writes.
And yet we were expected to believe at the time that the Soviet Union had developed and manufactured a burgeoning arsenal of sophisticated nuclear weapons.
“In the Bolshevik Revolution we see many of the same old faces that were responsible for creating the Federal Reserve System, initiating the graduated income tax, setting up the tax-free foundations and pushing us into WWI,” writes Gary Allen.
It was “a tiny oligarchical clique at the top” that created the Soviet Union, not because the elite are communists, but because communism is “a method to consolidate and control the wealth” and ultimately build ”an all-powerful world, socialist super-state,” a state we are now beginning to see as the bankers take down the global economy.
We need to keep this in mind as the elite, through their academics and corporate media, try to sell us new threats, for instance the Haqqani terror network recently pushed by the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Mike Mullen, as he lectured the Senate Armed Services Committee last week.
The corporate media reports that Haqqani is a veritable arm of Pakistan’s ISI, but what they don’t tell you is that the ISI is a creation of British intelligence – shepherded by Major General Walter Joseph Cawthorn, working for MI-6 – and the terror organizations now supposedly threatening the United States (and subsequently replacing the facile threat of the Soviet Union) were created through a collaboration between the ISI and the CIA, beginning in the early 1980s, a fact admitted by none other than the New York Times and Zbigniew Brzezinski.
The elite invent scary threats and push them off on us, knowing that we will usually take the bait, as the mass hysteria – and curtailment of our liberties – demonstrated after we were sold the fairy tale that a gaggle of Muslim cave dwellers made NORAD stand down and waved a magic wand that suspended the laws of physics of September 11, 2011.

Based on unsubstantiated reports in an Italian newspaper, GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann warned Wednesday that the United States could be facing another Cuban Missile Crisis, but from Hezbollah, the Middle Eastern terror group.
“There’s reports that have come out that Cuba has been working with another terrorist organization called Hezbollah,” Bachmann said in a speech Monday in Iowa. “And Hezbollah is looking at wanting to be part of missile sites in Iran and, of course, when you are 90 miles offshore from Florida, you don’t want to entertain the prospect of hosting bases or sites where Hezbollah could have training camps or perhaps have missile sites or weapon sites in Cuba. This would be foolish.”
It is believed the Minnesota congresswoman was referring to a report in a conservative Italian newspaper that has not been found to have any merit, but that the Huffington Post pointed out has been cited on a few American blogs, The Daily Mail reported.

What a difference half a year makes.
For the second time this year, a government shutdown has been narrowly avoided. But while the spring battle over a continuing resolution was, in the end, a worthwhile exercise that demonstrated the intransigence of Senate Democrats in controlling our budget, this fall’s skirmish achieved little. The reason: House Republicans declined to stake out as strong a position as they had on H.R. 1.
The heated climate and gridlock that have overcome Washington this year are due to the simple fact that there are now three political forces in Congress: liberals, who want to continue expanding government en route to making America look more like Europe; conservatives, who want to end the status quo in Washington and return our country to its constitutional roots; and the establishment, which seeks to preserve a status quo that has become incredibly lucrative for politicians, lobbyists, Big Business, Big Labor, and the rest of the country’s elite.
Because the establishment and liberals share a common enemy — conservatives — they often work in tandem to avoid derailing the Washington status quo, which is an inexorable march toward more centralization of power in the federal government.
But last spring, for a brief moment, the unholy alliance of the establishment and liberals stopped dead in its tracks. House conservatives won a fight in the Republican caucus to seize the moral high ground with strong spending cuts in a continuing resolution to fund the government through September 30.

Young boy trapped by car freed by officers and bystanders who lifted vehicle
A Boca Raton Police officer‘s dashboard camera captured the dramatic rescue of a young boy Wednesday who was saved by cops and bystanders who lifted a car he was trapped under.
The incident happened around 8 a.m. at the Verde Elementary School after the 6-year-old tripped and fell and became pinned beneath the approaching car.
In the video, Officers Mike Daly, Bruce Sonnenblick and Ernie Bucinskas are seen lifting the car with the help of two bystanders so the boy can be pulled to safety.
The child was taken to Delray Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Fidel Castro mocks Obama in Cuban media

President Barack Obama is “being stupid,” former Cuban president Fidel Castro wrote in an opinion piece on Thursday.
In his latest column of “reflections” on a Cuban government website, Castro attacked Obama’s policy toward Cuba and declared that his country will reform in the future — but not because of pressure from the United States, Reuters reported.
“Many things will change in Cuba, but they will change by our own effort and in spite of the United States,” he wrote. “Maybe before that empire falls.”
Castro mocked Obama for his comment on Wednesday that if the U.S. sees “positive movement then we will respond in a positive way.”
“How nice! How intelligent!” Castro wrote. “So much kindness has not permitted him still to understand that 50 years of blockade and of crimes against our homeland have not been able to break our people.”
Castro also accused Obama of “being stupid” regarding the case of five Cuban agents imprisoned in the United States for spying. The U.S. has held the agents since 1998, and one of the spies is set to be released next week, according to Reuters. He will remain in the U.S. for three more years on probation.

Alaska’s sole congressman says he wants to eliminate every federal regulation issued since 1991 – a proposal that could touch everything from food and drug safety to banking to health care to oil drilling.
Republican Rep. Don Young told the Anchorage Downtown Rotary Club on Tuesday that he drew the line at 20 years ago “because it crossed party lines and also we were prosperous at that time,” The Anchorage Daily News reported. “And no new regulations until they can justify them.”
Young’s spokesman, Luke Miller, told FoxNews.com Young is still developing the legislation.
“The main thing is if an agency can’t justify a regulation, it shouldn’t be on the board,” he said. “The overall idea behind the legislation is to make sure an agency justifies these regulations.”
Since Republicans took control of the House this year, they have put a spotlight on what they view as excessive regulations that are harming profits and killing jobs. Democrats counter that regulations are necessary to protect the public from greed, irresponsibility and recklessness.
Young said at the luncheon that he knew it was unlikely that he could get his legislation past the Democratic-controlled Senate or the veto pen of President Obama.

According to an AFP report, FBI special agent Richard DesLauriers claimed the sting operation proved ”a committed individual, even one with no direct connections to, or formal training from, an international terrorist organisation, can pose a serious danger to the community.” DesLauriers fails to explain where, if not from the FBI or other federal agencies, Ferdaus could have acquired C4 explosives for his alleged plot. Additionally, DesLauriers fails to explain how Ferdaus can be considered acting as an “individual” with no “direct connections” to an international terrorist organization, when FBI agents were posing as just that, supplying him with motivation, supplies, explosives, logistics, and weapons.

The Pentagon is developing spy drones that can identify individuals by their facial features and also denote targets by their “adversarial intent,” part of the new approach of treating everyone as guilty until proven innocent as law enforcement across America turns to unmanned vehicles as a crime fighting tool.

The Army has recently handed out six contracts to companies in the pursuit of developing a system that can tag and track an individual based on their facial biometrics and track them permanently even if they get lost in a crowd.
“If this works out, we’ll have the ability to track people persistently across wide areas,” says Tim Faltemier, the lead biometrics researcher at Progeny Systems Corporation, which recently won one of the Army contracts. “A guy can go under a bridge or inside a house. But when he comes out, we’ll know it was the same guy that went in.”
Once the system captures an image composed of just 50 pixels of the person’s face, it can then build a complete 3D profile and keep track of their movements from 750 feet away.
“With backing by the Army, researchers from Notre Dame and Michigan State Universities collected images of faces at a “Twins Days” festival. Progeny then zeroed in on the twins’ scars, marks, and tattoos — and were able to spot one from the other. The company says the software can help the military “not only learn the identity of subjects but also their associations in social groups,” reports Wired.
Related software designed to identify individuals “most likely to harbor ill will toward the U.S. military or its objectives,” is also being developed for the Army by Charles River Analytics. Their “Adversary Behavior Acquisition, Collection, Understanding, and Summarization (ABACUS)” tool uses information collated from phone calls, informant tips and drone footage to create “threat assessments of individuals and groups”.

Ron Paul has gotten more donations from the military than President Obama and every Republican candidate. They don’t even come close to him. Dr. Paul is the Usain Bolt of military donations. Between April and June he received over $35000 dollars from the military. Mitt Romney and Herman Cain barely got $5000 dollars each. And Perry didn’t even register on the scoreboard.
Below I have listed five reasons why Dr. Paul is the clear choice for President in the military’s eyes.
1. Ron Paul is the candidate of peace.
Most American soldiers are tired of fighting in useless and immoral wars that have nothing do with America’s security. They want to be with their families and have normal lives. Dr. Paul gives them that hope.
The soldiers who know what’s going on don’t want to be led by the barbarians in Israel, the anti-American neocons, and smooth talking globalist politicians like Bush and Obama who tricked them into Afghanistan and Iraq.
Soldiers are resorting to suicide to escape a Sisyphean fate in the Middle East. More soldiers have died outside of the battlefield than dying at the enemy’s hands. Reflect on that profound fact. It is a shame that it is suppressed by the establishment media. The exploitation of patriotic soldiers is one of the most inhuman aspects of empire-building and aggressive wars.
It is natural that American soldiers are worn out after fighting for so many years against a shapeless and shifting enemy. They have done more than anybody else to keep patriotism and bravery alive.
The military loves Ron Paul because he will end the exhausting occupations and reunite soldiers with their families. But Dr. Paul is not a peacenik. He has stated that America should go to war if America’s security is really threatened, and direct objectives are outlined so the military can go in, win, and get out. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the entire war on terror does not fit that criteria. They are false wars because they are based on lies.
Real wars are supposed to be fought and won in a very short time frame. This whole business of a “long war” is just that – a business. The point of the endless war on terror is to make endless profits for the military-industrial complex and the banksters, and destroy Islamic civilization in order to pave the way for a new dictatorial global government. Christianity and Judaism are also threatened with extinction by the hidden luciferian plan for the global conquest of all nations and all civilizations.
2. Ron Paul is part of the military family.
Dr. Paul served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He respects and values military service because he believes in the honour code. The rest of the republican field and President Obama are professional politicians who know nothing about sacrifice, honor and patriotism. They are traitors, cowards, and moral degenerates who have nothing in common with the military ethic of service and sacrifice.

Besides both houses of the U.S. Congress and a number of public-interest groups investigating what is being characterized as a rogue federal law enforcement operation, Mexico’s attorney general is infuriated over the allegations that the U.S. was behind the smuggling of weapons into Mexico that ended up killing her countrymen.
In a statement released by Mexican Attorney General Marisela Morales, she called Operation Fast and Furious “an attack on Mexicans’ security.”
Morales told Mexican reporters that she is demanding a full and honest explanation from the United States government especially since evidence is being gathered that reveals the Obama administration was more involved in Operation Fast and Furious than top officials admitted in their sworn statements.
If what is being reported is true, U.S. Attorney General and other government officials may have committed perjury and/or obstruction of justice if it’s proven they lied when testifying before House and Senate committees.
Operation Fast and Furious was a botched Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives covert operation initiated in order to track more than 2,000 smuggled guns to Mexican drug cartels by allowing gang members to purchase them illegally from U.S. gun stores then take them back to their leaders.
However, according to Congressional reports by both Rep. Darryl Issa (R-CA) and Senator Charles Grassley (R-NE), the federal agency lost track of many of the guns. Some later were traced to murders of police and civilians in Mexico and the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry.
There is also mounting evidence that the Cartel members obtained other weapons including grenades and brought them back to Mexico with the full knowledge of the ATF and the U.S. Justice Department.
President Obama said in June he would discipline the Fast and Furious organizers once the investigation is completed. He then stated that the Fast and Furious fiasco was never approved by his Justice Department officials.
However, reports from several sources including the non-governmental agency Judicial Watch, Fox News Channel and The Examiner strongly suggest there indeed high-level government involvement.
According to Fox News, documents obtained by their news staff revealed that the ATF agents involved actually sold some of the guns to gang members. They allegedly purchased the guns with taxpayer money.
Meanwhile Mexico’s Attorney General claims she learned about the operation in the news media rather than being told about it in advance by U.S. government officials, including members of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton‘s staff.
Morales said that if U.S. federal officials were involved, it would be a “betrayal” of Mexico while its police and military were fighting a war against drug cartels. Tens of thousands of Mexicans have been killed since the “war on drugs” began in 2006. Almost weekly, Mexican authorities are finding mass graves of those murdered by the cartels.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the House Oversight Committee’s chairman, recently said that it appears the trail of evidence about who authorized Operation Fast and Furious leads back to the White House.
Operation Fast and Furious began in October 2009 with sales from American gun stores to Mexican cartel members. They allegedly spent over $1 million on the firearms. Then in June 2010, ATF picked up the pace of the smuggling by allowing its agents to sell the guns to gang members, according to government documents obtained by Fox News and Judicial Watch.
According to his own testimony, ATF Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy six semi-automatic handguns then sell them to buyers he knew were illegal, the documents say.
Dodson claimed during his House testimony, that he acted on his own, against supervisors’ instructions, to monitor the movement of the guns to a “stash house.” He kept the house under surveillance until a vehicle showed up to pick up the guns for smuggling into Mexico.
Dodson says he called for a team to move in to arrest the smugglers, but his supervisors refused. The guns then disappeared from ATF surveillance.
Groups such as the Second Amendment Foundation believe the operation was “dreamed up to show proof that U.S. guns are contributing to the crime and violence in Mexico,” something that has been alleged by President Obama, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and their supporters in the gun-control lobby.

Because neither Clinton nor Obama directly addressed standing Military Code, the code remains intact, as it has existed much longer than 17 years. Homosexual service in the military is still a conduct punishable by Courts Martial, according to the manual and the UCMJ.
By trying to enforce executive political whims without altering code, they have placed both gay and heterosexual members of the military squarely in the line of fire of the UCMJ. Gays can be Courts Martialed for openly or quietly serving, and all other service members can and will be released from service with honors if they refuse to serve under the breech of Military Code and the contract they agreed to when they volunteered for service.
In typical leftist fashion, they have created another division, this time within the military.
Homosexuals represent less than 2% of service members, yet the other 98% have been forced into a position which is against standing Military Code and violates the agreement they signed when volunteering for service.
If the federal government wants to make gay service legal, they will have to change standing military code. Everything else they do is just a political tool of division, aimed at created a crisis within the armed forces.
This can’t end well… Clinton told gays to lie by omission and Obama has now reversed that order.
But until congress changes Military Code, every member of the military is caught in the crossfire of political stunts and this will not serve our soldiers well, any of them.
Last, so long as we have a usurper in the White House, illegitimate Command at the top of the Military chain of command, nothing can be legally or constitutionally altered, in the Military Code or anywhere else.

When one loses a contest perceived to have been “unfair,” the natural human instinct is to try to change the rules. That instinct is perilously close to harmfully affecting the conduct of our presidential elections.
Two separate efforts, the “national popular vote” (NPV) movement and Pennsylvania’s recent attempt to implement congressional district-based electoral voting (which I will call “CEV”), have gained traction. Both ideas recall a pithy phrase attributed to Ben Franklin in 1787 shortly after the Constitution’s adoption. When asked whether the Founders’ handiwork represented a republic or a monarchy, Franklin responded: “A republic, if you can keep it.” I contend that his response would have been the same if the question’s alternatives had been a republic or a democracy. Both NPV and CEV represent dangerous movements towards the latter at the expense of the former.

According to CNBC, the Federal Reserve “is planning on monitoring what you say about it on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook”.
Apparently we are not supposed to be alarmed though, because as the CNBC headline states, the Federal Reserve just “wants to be your Facebook friend“.
In fact, the CNBC article says that anyone that feels threatened by the fact that the Federal Reserve will be monitoring what we say on Facebook and Twitter is just “paranoid“.
Well, if it came out that Barack Obama was setting up a system that would identify “key bloggers” and monitor “billions of conversations” on the Internet to see what was being said about him, wouldn’t there be thousands of articles expressing outrage? Sure there would be. The Federal Reserve is supposed to be an independent central bank that is above politics. So why in the world would they need to perform “sentiment analysis” on what is being said about them on “Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube“?
The Federal Reserve obviously intends to identify the negative things that are being said about it and the specific people that are saying those things. So is it really being “paranoid” to point out that all of this is more than a little bit creepy?

Rezwan Ferdaus of Ashland, Mass., was arrested Wednesday in Framingham after undercover FBI agents delivered weapons Ferdaus allegedly sought for the alleged plan. The stash included what he thought was 25 pounds of C-4 explosives, as well as three grenades and six fully-automatic AK-47 assault, a press release from the Department of Justice reads.

Authorities say they gave Ferdaus multiple opportunities to back out of the plot, as they told him it would likely kill women and children. But Ferdaus never wavered in his plan, the affidavit said.
“I just can’t stop; there is no other choice for me,” he allegedly said.
Ferdaus, who graduated Northeastern University in 2008 with a degree in physics, is accused of beginning in early 2010 a plot to bring violent “jihad” against the U.S, who he described as “enemies of Allah.”

“I want the public to understand that Mr. Ferdaus’ conduct, as alleged in the complaint, is not reflective of a particular culture, community or religion,” said Carmen Ortiz, U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. “In addition to protecting our citizens from the threats and violence alleged today, we also have an obligation to protect members of every community, race and religion against violence and other unlawful conduct.”

Americans continue to pay a terrible, terrible toll for one of the longest (and most ill-conceived) wars in our nation’s history.
In this war, the casualty count keeps rising, day by day, year after year. Hundreds of millions have been engulfed by it, and whole generations have been forever changed by their experiences with it. It has compromised us in the eyes of the world, and – worse – compromised our own intrinsic understanding of who we are as individuals, and as a nation.
The war I have in mind is the so-called “Sexual Revolution.” And on every scale that ultimately matters, it is a complete and utter failure. Like the famous revolutions in France, Russia, and Cuba – all of which promised one thing yet delivered another – this revolt has turned out to be no more than a means for ushering in an even more murderous, corrupt, and invincible regime.
The would-be-overthrow of the once cherished mores of Western civilization has only brought us 50 years of licensed depravity, and with it social decline, spiritual disarray, and political and legal confusion.
What’s more, our Sexual Revolution has provoked a massive identity crisis.
Consider: for decades, Hollywood has been working with the Hugh Hefners and Helen Gurley Browns to persuade us that the highest purpose and pleasure of life is sexual experience – the more varied and insatiable, the better. Living together is better than being married; “hooking up” is preferable to living together; orgies are better than one-night stands.
Anything that stands in the way of unrestrained sexual stimulation and activity is dissatisfying… and therefore evil, old-fashioned, phony, hypocritical, tyrannical – unbearable. So we have unisex bathrooms and dormitories, “family hour” television programs devoted to jokes about human genitalia, newsstands stacked with magazines whose covers present women uncovered for general leering and ogling.
We can’t get enough of it. We want the oldest actors in movies telling the raunchiest jokes. We want our children taking sex-ed in kindergarten, if not before. We want our teens to know intercourse is fine at any age as long as they’re “responsible.” Life is about sex, and if you’re not having it, thinking about it, planning for it, or enjoying it vicariously, you’re not really alive.
That is the message of the culture. But the message of our courts is something else.
In our courtrooms, the culmination of a half-century of hedonism is that sex doesn’t matter at all. Indeed, it doesn’t exist. Gender is irrelevant, a social constraint extrapolated from an increasingly adjustable physical reality. If, say, a man wants to dress like woman, be treated like a woman, have access to the women’s bathroom, the appropriate legal response these days is not compassionate psychological treatment or spiritual care for his soul, but a mass transformation of all laws and restrictions that might inhibit his sad delusion. In bathrooms and barracks, locker rooms and work places, gender and sexual behavior don’t matter at all, to hear the lawyers tell it.
And now, in halls of justice coast to coast, judges and attorneys are working diligently to eradicate the gender components from marriage and parenthood. Marriage, they tell us, is about sex and insurance benefits, not providing children with both a mom and a dad. Parenthood is about soothing some people’s needs to have a little boy or girl of their own … not what’s morally and emotionally best for the child. (Children are being treated as commodities or accessories in this modern formulation of “family.”)
Add all that up, and the long, long Revolution comes to this: sex is the ultimate objective of everything … but it means nothing. The one thing our society tells us we are supposed to want most is the one thing our judges and politicians insist we should disregard as unimportant. Sexual fulfillment is everything; sexual identification is irrelevant.
The casualty list for all that confusion is staggering: dramatically increased rates of divorce, teen pregnancy, abortion, pornography, crime, disease, and mental illness. Education has deteriorated, entertainment has gone puerile, moral standards have evaporated, and personal and professional ethics have slid sharply. Not only have we lost millions of lives, but the quality of life itself is profoundly lessened for our nation in a world where we’ve given up striving toward moral betterment with the understanding that we are the unique creations of a loving God.
Ultimately, it’s not a Culture War we’re engaged in. It’s a civil war. And we’re fighting it in our own souls, against our own better judgment, at the loss of our freedom, our peace, and the eternal truth lost man so desperately denies.

Protecting individual rights and liberties — apart from the right to be tax-free — seems barely relevant to candidates or voters. One man is primarily responsible for the disappearance of civil liberties from the national debate, and he is Barack Obama. While many are reluctant to admit it, Obama has proved a disaster not just for specific civil liberties but the civil liberties cause in the United States.
Candidate Obama capitalized on this swing and portrayed himself as the champion of civil liberties. However, President Obama not only retained the controversial Bush policies, he expanded on them.
Obama failed to close Guantanamo Bay as promised. He continued warrantless surveillance and military tribunals that denied defendants basic rights. He asserted the right to kill U.S. citizens he views as terrorists. His administration has fought to block dozens of public-interest lawsuits challenging privacy violations and presidential abuses.
But perhaps the biggest blow to civil liberties is what he has done to the movement itself. It has quieted to a whisper, muted by the power of Obama’s personality and his symbolic importance as the first black president as well as the liberal who replaced Bush.
In time, the election of Barack Obama may stand as one of the single most devastating events in our history for civil liberties. Now the president has begun campaigning for a second term. He will again be selling himself more than his policies, but he is likely to find many civil libertarians who simply are not buying.

By now, many Americans have already heard about AttackWatch, which is another campaign to further the narrative of the Obama administration by attacking anyone opposing the president’s agenda.
The website’s banner tells readers to “Get the facts” and “Fight the smears.” But at AttackWatch, it seems as though one man’s facts are another man’s smears.
Rather than writing an exposé on the website and their owners, I will expand on one issue brought up by AttackWatch: gun control “gossip.” Clicking on the link, readers are greeted with a sinister, all-red image of former UN Ambassador John Bolton – the alleged smear-monger. His crime? Making “outlandish” claims that President Obama would use international law to confiscate guns from American citizens.
The website asks readers: “Have you seen or heard this attack?” I’ll admit the yes and no checkboxes under the diabolical image of Bolton and the informal charge sheet has a subliminal effect on me. I can’t help but imagine Mr. Bolton’s next “attack” will either be sinking submarines or sabotaging ball bearing factories.
This would be comical if it weren’t for the fact that Attack Watch is paid for by “Obama for America” – the same group that operates barackobama.com, the president’s official website.
“President Obama believes in common sense gun control laws compatible with Second Amendment rights,” AttackWatch tells its readers.
For one: we must be suspicious when politicians use words like “common sense.” Common sense to an anti-gun politician may mean something entirely different than it does to law-abiding gun owners.
And if what AttackWatch says is true, point to his pro-gun record. Show how this administration has stood up for the gun owners. Use this opportunity to highlight the “pro-gun” record of Obama’s appointees like Eric Holder, Van Jones, and Elena Kagan…

Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 proposal — a 9 percent personal-income tax, a 9 percent corporate-income tax, and a 9 percent federal sales tax, to replace all current federal taxes — is attractive in many ways. It is not a flat tax, but it is a flattish tax; it eliminates some (but by no means all) of the divide-and-conquer features of the federal tax code; it simplifies taxes for most households and many businesses; it might reduce compliance costs. All to the good.
A few things should be understood about the 9-9-9 plan. The first is that 9-9-9 is not Herman Cain’s real fiscal plan. He proposes 9-9-9 as an intermediate step en route to his preferred solution, the so-called Fair Tax, about which I have some serious reservations, along the lines of those spelled out by Ramesh Ponnuru here. In fact, Mr. Cain proposes an unwieldy and unnecessarily complex multistep program on the way to the Fair Tax, 9-9-9 being Phase 1, Part 2 (“Phase 1 Enhanced,” in his words). Getting Phase 1, Part 1 would be difficult enough, and the program is marked by Mr. Cain’s most distressing hallmark: wishful thinking that borders on fantasy. How is he going to get to Phase 2, the Fair Tax, a radical restructuring of U.S. public finances that invites not only fiscal questions but constitutional ones as well? “Amidst a backdrop of the economic boom created by the Phase 1 Enhanced Plan,” Mr. Cain writes, “I will begin the process of educating the American people on the benefits of continuing the next step to the Fair Tax.” May I propose a Williamson’s Rule of Politics? Here it is: “Any plan that includes the words ‘educating the American people’ will fail.” Mr. Cain’s proposals are always bolstered by that economic boom he sees just around the corner, but he never is able to answer the question: What if the boom fails to show up on schedule? What then? And that is one important reason Herman Cain should not be the Republican nominee. (Based on my single encounter with Mr. Cain, at a meeting with National Review’s editors, I would have hesitated to hire him to run a pizza company, much less the country.)
But let’s take a look at 9-9-9 on its own merits. Mr. Cain says the proposal would be revenue-neutral. I have my doubts. The federal government took in about $2.2 trillion last year. Based on personal-income and business-income figures from the IRS, and consumer-spending figures from the Gallup survey, my English-major math suggests that a 9 percent tax on all of the above produces about $1.7 trillion in revenue, meaning that 2010’s $1.7 trillion deficit would have been more like a $2.2 trillion deficit — from calamity to catastrophe. If Mr. Cain’s team is building in some growth assumptions into the fiscal forecasts, they must be sunny indeed.
In any event, Mr. Cain has not spelled out in any detail a spending proposal that would allow the federal government to get by on $2.2 trillion, much less on $1.7 trillion. If the Tea Party stands for anything, it stands for smaller government, meaning lower spending. And yet the allure of magical thinking on taxes is so powerful that the tea-party favorite has given a great deal more detail about his tax proposals, with actual figures and everything, than he has about his spending proposals, which remain remarkably vague: Spending must be “reviewed with a keen eye and a red pen,” he says. Well, gee willikers, why didn’t I think of that. (Other than his pie-in-the-sky growth assumptions, my least favorite thing about Herman Cain is that his response to every challenge is to appoint a committee of smart guys to do the right thing. He seems incapable of appreciating the fact that moral failing is not the only reason Washington fails to do the right thing.) As I have argued before, the real danger of tax-cuts-and-growth utopianism is that it draws attention away from spending cuts, which is where the real action is needed. Mr. Cain is nibbling at that bait.
The 9-9-9 proposal also creates some perverse incentives. With business income taxed at 9.0 percent while dividends and capital gains are taxed at 0.0 percent, there is an excellent reason to pay out something approaching 100 percent of business income as dividends, or to hide it by “reinvesting” it in the business. I like dividends and am sympathetic to the case for giving them preferential tax treatment — a company that concentrates on paying a high dividend rather than on raising its share price probably is a better-behaved company, in most cases — but it is always and everywhere true that if government creates a tax shelter it will be exploited to maximum effect.
What about that national sales tax? Though I remain hesitant about imposing a federal sales tax, on both Burkean and prudential grounds, Andrew Stuttaford and others have argued persuasively that income shouldn’t carry the entire tax burden, and that consumption has to carry a piece, too. I can live with that. But Fair Tax enthusiasts ought to be ready to deal with the emergence of a very large black market in untaxed consumer goods — a 30 percent sales tax will ensure that. You may get to abolish the IRS, but the sales-tax enforcers might prove just as expensive and intrusive.
Which is to say: There is no easy way out of this mess. Cain’s 9-9-9 program and the Fair Tax might very well constitute improvements on the status quo, but neither is a substitute for comprehensive entitlement reform and deep cuts in discretionary spending, the sine qua non of serious fiscal-reform efforts.

How long before they demand “constitutional rights” to dress like Corporal Klinger on the old tv show, Mash, because it’s “part of their sexual orientation“? Unless you’re on a military base, it will be out of sight, out of mind for the majority of Americans. Go back to your sports or porn or the bar and let someone else take care of the mess.

WASHINGTON – Hurricane Zoe, a Category 2 storm, damaged a large number of District homes, caused major roads to flood and left more than 87,000 D.C. residents without power.
That fabricated scenario was the setting for a full-scale exercise performed by D.C.’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency Wednesday, allowing a wide swath of District agencies to practice their response to a massive city-wide emergency.
On the grounds of RFK Stadium, members of the Metropolitan Police Department, D.C. Fire and EMS and the D.C. Department of Human Services were on hand to perform various drills in order to coordinate and execute emergency operations, gathering data to refine the city’s procedures in the event of a real emergency.
In the concourse of the stadium, the D.C. Department of Human Services was in charge of a “mega-shelter” that filled with volunteers mimicking the roles of displaced residents.
Representatives from DHS and the D.C. Department of Health were on hand to assist “residents” with food, communications and medical problems as they entered the facility.

“I would be his best choice because I would be a great insurance policy,” joked Ventura, noting that nothing would happen to Ron Paul because it would mean he would be in power and would cause the establishment even greater problems than the Congressman.
Ventura cautioned that he would have to consult his wife before committing to being Ron Paul’s VP, but that he would be willing if she gave the green light.
