New website seeks to hold journalists accountable
A Wikipedia-style website launched on Monday which provides information about the journalists behind the bylines.
News Transparency is a creation of Ira Stoll, the founder of another website called FutureOfCapitalism.com and the former managing editor of the now defunct New York Sun.
In a statement on its home page, newstransparency.com, the website said its goal is to help users “find out more about the people who produce the news” and “hold them accountable, the same way that journalists hold other powerful institutions accountable, by posting reviews and sharing information.”
News Transparency features an alphabetical list of hundreds of journalists and invites users to edit their profiles, which include basic biographical information such as age, education, current employer and work history.
The profiles also includes links to a journalist’s social media accounts, articles written about them, their political party affiliation, their charitable donations and their “professional” and “personal” networks.

In the Endowment, Lucifer is portrayed as having a “white and delightsome” body of flesh and bone. He even touches Eve’s hand with his own in a little pat as he hands her the forbidden fruit.
Yet Mormon doctrine teaches that Lucifer was denied a flesh and bone body of any color; and indeed that the way to tell any evil spirit is that such spirits cannot really touch you physically (D&C 129, especially v.8). Only those faithful in the pre-existent state will get tangible, white bodies according to LDS teaching. If anything, Lucifer should be portrayed as a black man!
Also, later in the Endowment, Peter the apostle is represented as coming down from Elohim in a body of flesh and bone. He shakes hands with Lucifer and then gives the secret grip to identify himself to Adam as one having authority. This is also impossible, since according to LDS teaching, a righteous spirit would never attempt to shake hands (D&C 129:5-6) and Peter would not have received a body of flesh for another 4,000 years!
In the “Holy Temple,” of all places, shouldn’t correct LDS theology be presented?
Why do Temple Mormons, in the Endowment, continue to wear the green fig-leaf apron which Lucifer inspired and God rejected?
In the garden sequence of the Temple Ceremony, the participants listen to Lucifer teach Mormon doctrine as he says there is no other way to gain knowledge than to disobey Father and eat the fruit.
Adam learns that the Apron Lucifer wears symbolizes Satan’s power and Priesthoods. The Participants all place these aprons on as Lucifer directs Adam and Eve to put them on. The Aprons are worn throughout the entire Endowment, and this emblem of Lucifer covers both the sacred garment and the robes of the LDS “Holy Priesthood.” Why would anyone wear an Apron that is the emblem of Satanic power and priesthoods?
The Conquest of the West
On Oct. 31, the U.N. Population Fund marks the arrival of the 7 billionth person on Earth and raises the population estimate for the planet at mid-century to 9.3 billion people.
There is a possibility, says the United Nations, that, by century’s end, world population may reach 15 billion. What does this mean for Western civilization?
It may not matter, except to identify who inherits the estate. For while world population is exploding, Western peoples are dying. Not a single European nation, except Muslim Albania, has a birth rate that will enable it to replace its present population.
By mid-century, Western man will be down to 12 percent of world population. By century’s end, he will be a tiny fraction, roughly equal to the white population of Rhodesia when Robert Mugabe came to power.
The demographic winter of the West has set in.
Between now and 2050, Russia, a nation of roughly 140 million, down from nearly 150 million at the breakup of the Soviet Union, is on schedule to lose an additional 24 million people.
“Hypermortality” is a word demographers use in discussing Russia.
Germany is to lose 8 million of her 82 million people. Ukraine has lost 6 million people since liberation in 1991 and will lose another 10 million by 2050. The population of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, 8 million in 1990, will by mid-century have fallen by 30 percent to 5.7 million.
Britain, however, is to add 12 million. But since emigration from Britain is bleeding the population and the birth rate of her native-born has been below zero population growth for 35 years, the U.N. has to be factoring in immigration from the old colonies in the Caribbean, the Middle East, the sub-Sahara and South Asia.
With the median age of European nations rising toward 50 and above, and a growing share of the population over 65, the continent is going to need millions of young immigrants to maintain the labor force and cope with seniors and elderly in retirement centers, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
Where will they come from? Continents and countries with population surges and surpluses.
By 2050, Africa’s population will double from 1 billion to 2 billion people. Where today the six most populous Islamic nations — Indonesia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria and Turkey — have a combined population of 885 million, by 2050 their populations will have increased by 475 million to 1.36 billion. Of the 48 fastest-growing countries in the world, 28 are majority Muslim or have Muslim populations of more than one-third of the national population.
And since it is the Muslim nations of North Africa and the Middle East that are closest to Europe, with easiest access to the continent, Muslims will likely furnish most of the multitudes who are coming.
What will this mean for Europe? Religious and racial conflict.
On Sept. 11, 2001, after the twin towers fell and Germany expressed her anguish and solidarity with America, a strange event occurred. In the Turkish districts of Berlin, bottle rockets were fired all night in celebration.
In the banlieues around Paris and other French cities, Arab riots, assaults on police and mass arson of vehicles regularly occur. This summer in London, the immigrant enclaves exploded and poured out into the city night after night.
Angela Merkel of Germany, seconded by David Cameron of Britain and Nicolas Sarkozy of France, declared multiculturalism had “utterly failed.”
What is the future of Europe? What is the future of Western man? Houari Boumedienne, Algerian revolutionary and president of his country, predicted it at the United Nations in 1975.
“One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere of this planet to burst into the Northern one. But not as friends. Because they will come in to conquer, and they will conquer by populating it with their children. Victory will come to us from the wombs of our women.”
Boumedienne’s words were spoken just as European and Western birth rates plunged below ZPG.
What, then, is the future?
A Russia with not one-tenth China’s population will not hold on to a continental nation twice China’s size. Already the Russian Far East is being invaded by Chinese crossing the Amur and Ussuri rivers to work, even as Mexicans cross the Rio Grande to reoccupy lands torn away from their ancestors in 1836 and 1848.
What is the future of the West?
Obama to name 1st monument
President Barack Obama has chosen a historic 19th-century Army fort on the Virginia coast to be his first national monument.
Fort Monroe, one of the few Union military installations in the South during the Civil War never occupied by Confederate forces, will get the designation under the 1906 Antiquities Act.
“It’s a huge economic opportunity for southern Virginia,” Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told The Virginian-Pilot of the site that holds both Civil War and African-American history.
Antiquities Act designations haven’t always gone down well. Utah officials complained in 1996 that President Bill Clinton caught them off guard by creating the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Loudmouth 1% Are Trashing Rights Of 99%
In various cities across the country, mobs of mostly young, mostly incoherent, often noisy and sometimes violent demonstrators are making themselves a major nuisance.
Meanwhile, many in the media are practically gushing over these “protesters,” and giving them the free publicity they crave for themselves and their cause — whatever that is, beyond venting their emotions on television.
Members of the mobs apparently believe that other people, who are working while they are out trashing the streets, should be forced to subsidize their college education — and apparently the president of the United States thinks so too.
But if these loudmouths’ inability to put together a coherent line of thought is any indication of their education, the taxpayers should demand their money back for having that money wasted on them for years in the public schools.
Sloppy words and sloppy thinking often go together, both in the mobs and in the media that are covering them.
It is common, for example, to hear in the media how some “protesters” were arrested. But anyone who reads this column regularly knows that I protest against all sorts of things — and don’t get arrested.
The difference is that I don’t block traffic, join mobs sleeping overnight in parks or urinate in the street. If the media cannot distinguish between protesting and disturbing the peace, then their education may also have wasted a lot of taxpayers’ money.
Among the favorite sloppy words used by the shrill mobs in the streets is “Wall Street greed.” But even if you think people in Wall Street, or anywhere else, are making more money than they deserve, “greed” is no explanation whatever.

The Sunday morning talk shows, in the absence of any important breaking events, fill a weekend news vacuum.
They are a showcase for the networks. They help set the new week’s opening political discussion agenda. And for politicians, especially candidates, they are both a priceless opportunity and a potential trap.
The shows are carefully designed and questions crafted to make some news. See in the ABC News This Week transcript excerpt below how determined — and ultimately unsuccessful — hostess Christiane Amanpour is getting Michele Bachmann to admit the truth. That is, if she doesn’t win the Iowa caucus in two months, her GOP presidential candidacy is effectively dead.
For the candidates, especially the financially-struggling ones like Bachmann, the danger of undesirable questions is worth it in return for the national exposure — and the potential support and donations that might bring.
Previously, we’ve noted here that any time candidates mention their website on TV, they are in money trouble. Another clue is use of the telltale word, “snapshot.” As in, “Polls are just a snapshot of a moment in time.” You don’t hear front-runners stressing the obvious transitory nature of public opinion polls.
Experience and aides no doubt told Bachmann the opening interrogatory foray would involve negative news about her, the overnight Iowa poll showing Bachmann trailing badly in her native state.

Christian Churches Read Quran from Pulpits across America
How would you feel if your pastor stood in the pulpit this past Sunday opened what you believed to be his Bible and then started to read passages completely unfamiliar to you. Then in the midst of the reading you hear him say Allah instead of God and you realize he is reading not from his Bible, but from the Quran.
How would you feel and what would you do?
If this didn’t happen to you yesterday, count yourself fortunate because it did happen to a number people sitting in Christian churches across America.
Social activists involved with Faith Shared, a program of Interfaith Alliance and Human Rights First were trying to promote tolerance and respect of Islam and counter opposition to the Muslim faith. So starting with the National Cathedral in Washington DC, at least fifty other churches in 32 states joined in the effort to host readings from the Quran.
The effort is meant to counter what they refer to as ‘anti-Muslim bigotry and negative stereotypes’ that have been growing in the
US. By getting prominent national and local churches to read from the Quran and teach their congregations about Islam, the Alliance believes it will help make Christians more knowledgeable and tolerant of Islam.
Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, president of Interfaith Alliance said:
“The anti-Muslim rhetoric that has pervaded our national conversation recently has shocked and saddened me. Appreciation for pluralism and respect for religious freedom and other human rights are at the core of our democracy. We believe that demonstrating our commitment to those core American values will help counteract the intensified level of negative stereotypes and anti-Muslim bigotry in our recent public discourse.”

Google refuses to remove police-brutality videos, it says
In its most recent Transparency Report, Google states that it has received multiple requests from law-enforcement officials to remove videos.
“We received a request from a local law enforcement agency to remove YouTube videos of police brutality, which we did not remove. Separately, we received requests from a different local law enforcement agency for removal of videos allegedly defaming law enforcement officials. We did not comply with those requests, which we have categorized in this Report as defamation requests.”
The report covers January to June of this year, and catalogs removal requests from a variety of sources. The report states that Google complied with 63 percent of the 92 requests for content removal and a 93 percent of the 5,950 requests for user data. Writing in The Atlantic, Rebecca J. Rosen says that the lack of detail in the report “does more for making government transparent than it does more making Google itself transparent.”

California is a great place for studying the thinking — or lack of thinking — on the political left.
The mindset of the left was recently displayed in a big, front-page story in the October 30th issue of the San Mateo County Times. It was an investigative reporter‘s exposé of the “payday loan” business and its lobbyists.
According to the reporter: “In California lenders charge up to $45 in fees on a maximum $300 loan. This amounts to an interest rate of 460 percent, trapping some borrowers into a never-ending cycle of debt.”
Let’s take this one step at a time. Whatever the merits or demerits of the rest of the argument, $45 is not going to trap anyone in a never-ending cycle of debt, even if they are making only the bare minimum wage. Personal irresponsibility in managing money can trap anyone, but that is regardless of whether or not they take out payday loans.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said President Barack Obama will “continue” to act “administratively” without congressional authorization to “benefit the American people” as part of the White House’s “We Can’t Wait” campaign.
“He [Obama] fully understands that the kinds of things that are contained within the American Jobs Act require congressional action, require laws being passed, and that’s why he’s pressing for Congress to take action legislatively,” Carney told reporters on Monday at the White House.

How higher education is leading us astray
When the financial crisis of 2008 hit, we saw how state-managed capitalism works. Favored companies are allowed to make as much money as they can. But they are protected from going broke.
Certain firms are deemed “too big to fail,” by virtue of the key role they play in the economy, or at least by the role they play in a politician’s plans for re-election or future employment. But state-managed capitalism is very different from the real thing. It is capitalism in a degenerate form.
Real capitalism progresses in fits and starts, described by Josef Schumpeter as “creative destruction.” It is like a jungle…not like a zoo. It cannot be managed. You cannot take out the predators or feed selected species without upsetting the balance of nature. Take out the destruction, and you block the creative process too. …

UN Warns Of Sharp Increase In Social Unrest
A prominent UN agency has issued a warning that the globe is hurtling toward a long recession, a 40 million worldwide job shortage and an increase in large scale social unrest.
In a report published today, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) warns that the world faces an imminent “dramatic downturn” in employment and urges the G20 to act to “soften the impact”.
Outlining that the globe faces a “new and deeper jobs recession”, the report, titled World of Work Report 2011: Making Markets Work for Jobs, warns that job creation is slowing and worldwide unemployment stands at a record of more than 200m.
“We estimate that for the next two years, the world economy would need 80 million jobs to bring the unemployment rate down to what it was before the crisis” in 2007, said Raymond Torres, who heads the ILO’s research institute.
Adding that the “world economy would create just 40 million jobs,” in that time, the report estimates that at current trend levels it will take at least five years to return employment in advanced economies to pre-crisis levels.

Another Lost Generation of Americans
Actually, they’re not lost geographically. We see them every day on the cable news channels and the evening news of the broadcast networks. The racial stereotypes that these people are using to go after Herman Cain, what is the one thing that it tells us? It tells us who the real racists are, yeah, but it tells us that Herman Cain is somebody. Something’s going on out there. Herman Cain obviously is making some people nervous for this kind of thing to happen.

Rush also brought up the fact that ballplayer Jackie Robinson was denounced as an “Uncle Tom” because he supported Republicans.

Herman Cain said that if he were to dress up for Halloween as one of his Republican political opponents to scare people, it would be Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

So, the legalize-marijuana crowd finally got a thoughtful answer from the White House — but not one it wanted.
After being ignored or quickly dismissed on multiple occasions, Americans who want to see marijuana legalized found a way to get the White House to take their question seriously. The White House “We the People” project lets anyone submit a petition requesting government action. If the petition gets enough signatures, the White House promises a policy response.
A petition calling for legalization and regulation of marijuana “in a matter similar to alcohol” quickly vaulted into the top position, receiving nearly 75,000 signatures. Four others making similar requests were in the top 10. A total of eight marijuana-related petitions each received more than 5,000 signatures. It turns out that the White House still does not support pot legalization.
Other early responses indicate that the White House also does not support removing the phrase “In God We Trust” from the currency” or “Under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. It does not support a “fair tax,” which it says would increase taxes for the middle class while cutting them for the wealthy. And it declined to respond to a petition calling for an investigation into the prosecution of Sholom Rubashkin, a former kosher slaughterhouse executive who was sentenced to 27 years in prison on 86 financial fraud charges.

Another Lost Generation of Americans
Actually, they’re not lost geographically. We see them every day on the cable news channels and the evening news of the broadcast networks. This decade they call themselves the “Occupy Wall Street” Group. I believe they are lost, unrecoverable, as productive, patriotic, Americans. I’m no shrink, but I believe they will carry a degree of bitterness, for the reminder of their lives, as a result of America’s rejection of their attempt to force a socialist form of government on a nation of people who love freedom. The risk was theirs to take. History will record their failure — a failure they will never be able to put behind them. They will drag it like an anchor throughout their lifetime. They have made their choice and they now must live with the consequences.
These people have been around since Vladimir Lenin. They are espousing the socialist/communist line and they are SOOOOO DUMB they don’t have a clue they are being used by the shadowy figures organizing and financing their infantile protestations.
Those dirty, smelly, boorish, idiots are disposable tools of the leftist power brokers, themselves the mortal enemies of capitalists and democracy.
They are supported by the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Nazi Party, the Democratic Party …… . We should add the labor unions to this OUTSTANDING gaggle of anti-capitalist left-wingers.
They don’t know WHAT the want – but they want it NOW. It is the primal cry of an infant seeking attention.
If you are expecting anything good to come of the rent-a-riot crowd in our streets these days, you should reconsider. This whole “OWS” movement is going to end in disaster. This ain’t my first rodeo. I have seen this before. It always ends in tragedy.

Obama to Sign Prescription Drug Executive Order
Using the legal force of an executive order, President Obama is taking action on the health care front as part of his pressure on Congress for action on his jobs plan.
White House officials say at a midday signing ceremony in the Oval Office, the president will address price gouging and the availability of prescription drugs. He will also endorse what he describes as bipartisan legislation awaiting action.
“The shortage of prescription drugs drives up costs, leaves consumers vulnerable to price gouging and threatens our health and safety,” an administration official says.

Ministers have been forced to seek permission from Prince Charles to pass at least a dozen government bills, according to a Guardian investigation into a secretive constitutional loophole that gives him the right to veto legislation that might impact his private interests.
Since 2005, ministers from six departments have sought the Prince of Wales’ consent to draft bills on everything from road safety to gambling and the London Olympics, in an arrangement described by constitutional lawyers as a royal “nuclear deterrent” over public policy.
Unlike royal assent to bills, which is exercised by the Queen as a matter of constitutional law, the prince’s power applies when a new bill might affect his own interests, in particular the Duchy of Cornwall, a private £700m property empire that last year provided him with an £18m income.
Neither the government nor Clarence House will reveal what, if any, alterations to legislation Charles has requested, or exactly why he was asked to grant consent to such a wide range of laws.

A Central Texas gun dealer is under investigation over a controversial new ad singling out Muslims and so-called Socialist liberals.
Crockett Keller owns Keller’s Riverside Store in the Hill Country town of Mason, located about 113 miles northwest of San Antonio, and also teaches concealed handgun license classes.
Keller has begun running a new advertisement for his CHL classes, but in controversial ad Keller says Socialist liberals and those who voted for the quote, “current campaigner in chief” should not take the class since they have “already proven that you can not make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law.”
The controversial ad goes even further.

A Department of Homeland Security-funded surveillance drone deployed against insurgents in Afghanistan that can also be used to tase suspects from above has been unveiled by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office and will be operational within a month.
“At $500,000 a pop, Montgomery county spent $250,000 to get the UAV. The rest was covered by a Department of Homeland Security grant,” reports KBTX.com.
Although its initial role will be limited to surveillance, the ShadowHawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, previously used against suspected terrorists in Afghanistan and East Africa, has the ability to tase suspects from above as well as carrying 12-gauge shotguns and grenade launchers.
“We look forward to utilizing it in a variety of capacities that protect our employees from harm to the extent possible and to enhance the protection to our citizens and their safety,” said Montgomery County Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel.
The ShadowHawk is a 50lb mini drone chopper that can be fitted with an XREP taser with the ability to fire four barbed electrodes that can be shot to a distance of 100 feet, delivering “neuromuscular incapacitation” to the victim. The drone can travel at a top speed of 70MPH and can operate for 3.5 hours over land and sea.
A video clip of the drone shows off its impressive maneuverability as it tails a suspect attempting to evade capture with sophisticated object tracking technology. Another video shows the drone conducting surveillance of two individuals involved in a firearm transaction.

More powerful military Predator drones are already being used to kill American citizens overseas, including 16-year-old Denver-born Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, prompting fears that drones could be used within the United States to meter out extrajudicial punishment, something that surpasses anything George Orwell predicted in 1984.
The fact that the drone was partly funded with DHS grant money further illustrates how the Department of Homeland Security is determined to turn America into a high-tech police state.
While the federal agency openly flouts immigration laws by authorizing illegal aliens to work in the U.S., billions of dollars have been poured into “homeland security needs” for state and local governments to keep tabs on the American people, including the rollout of a surveillance camera network that is now blanketing major cities across the nation.
Even more Orwellian are proposals also being backed by the federal government to turn street lights into sophisticated surveillance tools that can not only record video and conversations, but also have “homeland security” applications including displaying messages that encourage Americans to report on each other as part of DHS’ ‘See Something, Say Something’ snitch campaign.

America should listen to Paul Ryan
Last week, one of the Republican Party’s young stars, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc), spoke at the Heritage Foundation and gave forth his vision of America and what we need to do today to restore our vitality.
Listening to Ryan, I’m reminded of the late, great Congressman Jack Kemp, for whom he once worked. He talks about America as an “opportunity” society, driven by the ideals of individual freedom, limited government, traditional values, and free enterprise.
To sum up his working hypotheses: These are the values that made America great. Our economic machine is sputtering today as result of departure from these values. Today’s task is to restore them and get America growing again, which will benefit everyone.
Ryan contrasts this individual-centered, bottom-up, principles driven vision, with the take on things of our current administration. They believe everything starts in Washington, and that they can design, create, and finance with taxpayers’ money, a prosperous, just America.
But our president has had three years to work his liberal experiment, with economic recovery barely discernible today, and recent Gallup polling showing only 13 percent of Americans satisfied with how things are going.

…Don’t be dissuaded by bogus claims “Ron Paul is unelectable” or by the menu of wanna-be candidates served up by the news media. The 4th-Estate, the nation’s major news sources are not unbiased parties.
The news media is in dire financial straits themselves and wants those campaign advertising dollars, particularly the $750 million the incumbent President is likely to raise like he did last election. Ron Paul is electable – by you. Make the election of RP so magnanimous that even vote fraud can’t hide it.
Let’s recap – no income tax, the Federal government generates revenues by other means; no IRS forms to deal with; no need to send your kids off to phony wars in foreign theatres; no more cut off the top by the Federal Reserve; assurance there really is gold in Ft. Knox; gold-backed money like this nation once had before the banksters cut their own deal at Jekyll Island, South Carolina decades ago and Nixon took America off the gold standard; rising individual purchasing power as inflation is nixed (no need to ask the boss for a raise, your money will buy more), financial gains on your banked money instead of erosion of your wealth via inflation; your chance to own a home will greatly improve rather than the current situation where home ownership is now only a fading American pipe dream; and true reform of healthcare rather than manipulation by those with vested interests.
These are what a Ron Paul Presidency portends. This is Doctor Ron Paul’s prescription for the re-installation of sanity in American politics. Entrenched forces and crony capitalism are destroying America. You can fight back. Let the public’s voice be heard loud at the ballot box. Vote for Ron Paul so the 99% can have a real opportunity to become the 1%.

Hundreds of New York City cops crammed into a courthouse Friday in support of fellow officers accused of crimes, blocking photojournalists from accessing the courtroom, including one instance of grabbing a videographer’s lens and shoving him backwards.
Court officers, who allowed the officers into the hallway outside the courtroom, also prevented the media from accessing the same hallway.
And even before that, the 16 officers accused of crimes were spared the customary “perp walk” where the media is allowed to document defendants entering the courthouse.
