Top Tier: Ron Paul Polls Third In Three Early Voting States 210811Paul

GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul is polling in third in the key early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, according to a new CNN/Time poll released yesterday.

The Texas Congressman attracted 12% in telephone polls with potential voters in all three states.

MItt Romney and Herman Cain were polled first and second respectively in all three states.

In Iowa and South Carolina, Cain appears to be closer to Romney, trailing by just 2 and 3 percentage points.

In New Hampshire, however, Romney leads with 40%, while Cain remains just one percentage point ahead of Paul.

The Latest in Self-Driving Cars

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

GM demonstrated its EN-V concept vehicle at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year. The small, maneuverable electric vehicles ride on two wheels, like the Segway. They can also be networked and drive themselves. In one demonstration, the vehicles dropped off the driver, and then made their way to a parking spot on their own. GM intends the vehicle especially for megacities such as Shanghai, which is where it unveiled the first slick concept version of the cars.

Righthaven ordered to pay nearly $120,000 in attorney fees, court costs

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Newspaper copyright infringement lawsuit filer Righthaven LLC of Las Vegas was hit Wednesday with an order to pay $119,488 in attorney’s fees and costs in its failed lawsuit against former federal prosecutor Thomas DiBiase.

This was by far the largest fee award against Righthaven, but likely will be dwarfed by an upcoming award in Righthaven’s failed suit against the Democratic Underground. Before Wednesday the largest fee award against Righthaven was for $34,045 — an amount Righthaven says it’s having trouble paying or even posting a bond to cover.

Marines have been flocking to the social networking/aggregator site Reddit to voice their anger at the life-threatening injury inflicted on 24-year-old Iraqi war veteran Scott Olsen by Oakland police during the recent Occupy protests. Video showed Olsen go down after taking a tear gas canister to the head. As fellow protesters tried to assist him, police lobbed a flash grenade into their midst–right next to Olsen’s already fractured skull.

How Mitt Romney will lose to Barack Obama

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Those in the Republican establishment who believe that Mitt Romney is the most electable (in November 2012) candidate currently running for the GOP presidential nomination ought to consider the following scenario extremely carefully and seriously: Ron Paul, after losing the GOP nomination, decides to run as a third party candidate. Ron Paul has all the things necessary to do so: a committed base of supporters across the country, a decent amount of money and the ability to raise more, and a good beginning at national name and face recognition (thanks to what he’s stirred up during the GOP contest).

Ad for gun training bars Muslims and Obama voters

October 28, 2011 2 comments

A radio ad for a handgun training class that bars Muslims and Obama voters has sparked an investigation in Texas.

“We will attempt to teach you all the necessary information you need to obtain your [Concealed Handgun License],” the ad says. Then towards the end, it adds: “If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class. You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision under the law.”

And then: “If you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class with no shame; I am Crockett Keller, thank you, and God bless America.”

The ad ran for six days on KHLB, Mason’s local station. It’s also been heard tens of thousands of times on Youtube.

CAN STATE LEGISLATURES ENFORCE IT?

by Paul Hollrah, ©2011

Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution defines the duties of the Electoral College

(Oct. 28, 2011) — As a two-time member of the Electoral College, I am aware that the vast majority of electors totally misunderstand their duties and responsibilities. Most are convinced that their only duty is to ratify the selections made at their party’s national nominating convention. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Writing in the Federalist Papers, in defense of the proposed Electoral College, Alexander Hamilton expressed an overriding concern of the times. He wrote: “These most deadly adversaries of republican government (cabal, intrigue, etc.) might actually have expected to make their approach from more than one quarter, but chiefly from the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils. How could they better gratify this than by raising a creature of their own (a “Manchurian candidate?”) to the chief magistracy of the Union?”

The fears that Hamilton expressed were not given credence until late in the 20th century and early in the 21st century. In 1996, had Democratic electors known of the huge sums of money poured into the Clinton-Gore reelection campaign by the People’s Republic of China, would they have voted unanimously to reelect Bill Clinton and Al Gore? I suspect that many veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War would have had second thoughts.

Perry’s right: Republicans drowning in debates

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Everyone knows why Texas Gov. Rick Perry wants to skip some of the coming Republican presidential debates. He’s a lousy debater, and the biggest single factor in his fall from front-runner to back-in-the-pack has been his poor performance in a number of high-profile debates.

That said, Perry has a point when he suggests there are just too many debates scheduled in the rapidly dwindling number of days before voters go to the polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and other key primary states.

There are at least a dozen GOP debates scheduled between Nov. 9 and the Florida primary on Jan. 31. A few more are in the works but not yet confirmed. Given that there will be breaks in the debating for Thanksgiving and Christmas — nobody expects voters to pay attention then — that’s a lot of debates in very little time.

Karl Rove finds the non-Romney candidates unacceptable

October 28, 2011 2 comments

Rove is very much in a “do I have to do everything myself” mode these days, which is why he’s also running the GOP’s congressional campaign as an independently funded venture. Here he is practically acting as a Romney surrogate on Fox and attacking Herman Cain, because actual Romney surrogates seem unable to.

Does aspirin have a surprising new health benefit? (reduce risk of developing cancer)

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Taking aspirin may significantly reduce your chances of developing cancer according to scientists from the Universities of Newcastle and Leeds, England.

LONDON, ENGLAND (Catholic Online) – The results of the research are published Friday in the medical journal, the Lancet. The results show that patients who have a history of cancer in their families, and take aspirin every day for a number of years, have 63 percent lower chance of developing the disease.

The authors of the study explained that they had long suspected this link, and that evidence supporting it has been growing, however, this is the first proper scientific test that has evaluated the effect of aspirin on cancer risk.

The study shows that it has a significant preventative effect on cancer, but that fact doesn’t kick in until after several years of regular use.

The study tracked almost 1000 patients from 16 different countries. Some of the patients were followed for more than 10 years. The trial focused on individuals with a condition known as Lynch syndrome. Lynch syndrome is a rare inherited disorder that increases a person’s risk of developing colon cancer, and other cancers such as skin, brain, and many others. Increased risk is caused by mutations that prevent proper DNA repair in cells. Approximately half of all people with Lynch syndrome can be expected to develop cancer.

The study followed 161 individuals who took either two aspirins a day or a placebo, beginning at different times between 1999 and 2005. By 2007 scientist found no difference in risk between the two groups however, researchers continued to monitor the groups.

Occupy Phoenix Asks: When Should You Shoot a Cop?

October 28, 2011 2 comments

Welcome to Occupy Phoenix, the latest violent embarrassment to American society. This group of occupiers is asking, “When should you shoot a cop?” Pamphlets asking this question and laying out justifications for doing so were left at the Occupy Wall Street location in Phoenix, Arizona and found by a Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy.

That’s right folks, according to the OWS crowd, changing society “almost always requires” killing law enforcement officers. Law enforcement officers in the Grand Canyon state have been placed on high alert and the Arizona Counter-Terrorism Information Center has published a safety memo in response to the threats of unapologetic cop killing.

To All My Valued Employees
Unknown ^ | 10 28 2011 | Unknown

To All My Valued Employees:

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn’t pose a threat to your j What does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in this country.

However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interests.

First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a Back Story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. I’m sure you’ve seen my big home at last years Christmas party, all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life.

However, what you don’t see is the BACK STORY :

I started this company 28 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living apartment was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn’t have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business — hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting the Nordstrom’s for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item that didn’t look like it was birthed in the 70′s. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that eventually, someday, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had.

So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9 am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5 pm, I don’t. There is no “off” button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden — the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations… you never realize the Back Story and the sacrifices I’ve made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bailout all the people who didn’t. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for.

GOP Insiders Near Unanimous in Predicting Romney Nomination (Includes Full List of GOP Insiders)

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

The large Republican presidential field, along with the dramatic surges and collapses of several of its candidates, may ultimately be much ado about nothing. That, at least, is the conclusion of the Republican strategists surveyed in this week’s National Journal Political Insiders Poll, who almost unanimously identified Mitt Romney as the most likely candidate to win the nomination. In the five times the GOP Insiders have been asked that question in 2011, Romney has never surrendered the top spot.

Super Committee Dems Propose Massive Tax Increases

October 28, 2011 1 comment

Democrats in the Senate Super Committee released its list of proposals to reduce the deficit, and it unsurprisingly includes over $1 trillion in new taxes. ABC reports, “Democrats have proposed a framework for the Super Committee that multiple aides confirm is around $3 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade through a cocktail of cuts to entitlements, including Medicare, and as much as $1.3 trillion in new tax revenues.” The Super Committee is faced with the task of finding a minimum of $1.3 trillion in savings before November 23, lest a round of automatic spending cuts will take effect.

Democratic Representative John Lewis of Georgia defends the proposal by demonizing the so-called wealthy (anyone making over $250,000 a year). “The people of this country are looking for fairness. They are sitting in and sitting down to protest the unwillingness of the government to legislate with their best interests in mind,” said Lewis, who also criticized proposals to cut entitlement programs. “These proposals rob from the poor, the sick and the elderly, the very least amongst us.”

Regardless of the tired talking points, however, history reveals that tax increases will not target the group that lawmakers are attempting to hit with new taxes. Instead, the middle class finds itself suffering as a result because those who do comply with paying the new taxes were individuals who own businesses that drive the economy in this country. The uber-wealthy will simply find places to hide their money, such as in foundations.

U.S. Government Seeks to Create Website Ban List

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

The U.S. House of Representatives recently introduced a “rogue websites” bill that has managed to attract bipartisan support even though it would force Internet Service Providers to create a list of banned websites and prevent users of those websites from accessing their sites. The list is all too similar to the “ban lists” that are found in China.

Breitbart.com reports: “US lawmakers introduced a bill on Wednesday that would give US authorities more tools to crack down on websites accused of piracy of movies, television shows and music and the sale of counterfeit goods.”

Entitled the Stop Online Piracy Act, the bill reads:

A service provider shall take technically feasible and reasonable measures designed to prevent access by its subscribers located within the United States to the foreign infringing site (or portion thereof) that is subject to the order, including measures designed to prevent the domain name of the foreign infringing site (or portion thereof) from resolving to that domain name’s Internet Protocol address.

It is the House version of a bill that was introduced in the U.S. Senate earlier this year called the Theft of Intellectual Property Act or Protect IP Act.

Confessions of an Ex-Democrat

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

[snip]…Furthermore, in the interests of full disclosure, I should confess that for a long time I was a Democrat. But, in my own defense, I was never a liberal. For those of a tender age, I should hasten to mention that there was a time when it was possible to be one without being the other. So, for instance, I could be a registered Democrat while simultaneously opposing unilateral disarmament. I could be a Democrat and still believe that Whitaker Chambers was telling the truth and that Alger Hiss and Julius Rosenberg were lying when they denied being Soviet spies. I could oppose Jim Crow laws while at the same time regarding racial quotas as reverse racism. I could be angry about Watergate and still oppose the slandering and libeling of Clarence Thomas. I could even be a Democrat and still despise the universally beloved Walter Cronkite, whose pose as an objective newsman was as phony as Obama’s attempt to foist himself off as bi-partisan, for doing his best to make certain we didn’t win the Vietnam War.

Is The Media Finally Ready To Do Its Job?

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

The New York Times reports that President Barack Obama has found a way around his pledge to not accept money from lobbyists. While not officially registered with the Senate as lobbyists, at least 15 Obama bundlers (supporters who contribute their own money to his campaign and solicit it from others) are involved in lobbying for Washington consulting shops or private companies and have raised over five million dollars for the president’s re-election campaign so far.

This is really three stories in one. One, the president seems to have violated at least the spirit a campaign promise. Two, the president has employed a technicality to get around an overt ethical reversal. And three, one of the most left-leaning, Obama-supporting mainstream media outlets uncovered, investigated and is reporting on the story.

Cain’s Cigarette-Puffing Aide Has Checkered Past

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

He is the man with the mustache who takes a rebellious drag on a cigarette in the Herman Cain Internet ad gone viral.

“We’ve run a campaign like nobody’s ever seen,” he says before taking a puff. “But then America’s never seen a candidate like Herman Cain.”

Meet Mark Block, Cain’s unorthodox campaign manager. Perhaps no one is more responsible for the Georgia businessman’s meteoric rise in the presidential polls than Block, a Republican strategist and tea party leader who’s left a trail of questionable campaign work behind him.

Block has been accused of voter suppression and was banned from running Wisconsin political campaigns for three years to settle accusations he coordinated a judge’s re-election campaign with a special interest group.

Records show Block has faced foreclosure on his home, a tax warrant by the Internal Revenue Service and a lawsuit for an unpaid bill. He also acknowledges he was arrested twice for drunken driving.

From Hurricane Irene, which soaked the entire East Coast in August, to the Midwest tornadoes, which wrought havoc from Wisconsin to Texas, 2011 has seen more billion-dollar natural disasters than any year on record, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

And as America’s hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and wildfires set records this year, so too has President Obama in his response to them.

During the first 10 months of this year President Obama declared 89 major disasters, more than the record 81 declarations that he made in all of 2010.

And Obama has declared more disasters — 229 — in the first three years of his presidency than almost any other president signed in their full four-year terms. Only President George W. Bush declared more, having signed 238 disaster declarations in his second term, from 2005 to 2009.

Why President Obama and His Advisers Are Absolutely Convinced He Will Be Re-elected In 2012

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

President Obama and his team are quite optimistic they will win reelection in 2012, notwithstanding the bad poll numbers he is facing and the absolute collapse of confidence with Washington and indeed the American economy.

There are a number of reasons why the president and his advisers are so optimistic.

First, it is his judgment that with the horse race now tied for president, he has managed to weather the storm of a declining economy and declining confidence much better than he, or frankly most observers, would have expected.

(SNIP)

But what heartens the president’s advisers is they believe they have locked into a strategy now that they are convinced can and will pay dividends.

Laurie Roth – Americans must stand against Muslim Brotherhood

October 28, 2011 1 comment

Things are going as planned and Obama and his handlers couldn’t be happier. Global controls, regulations and rules combined with encroaching Fundamentalist Islam is the double barrel shot gun that threatens to take down America, Israel and the West. Right now, it is attempting to transform the Middle East into an Islamic radical, Muslim Brotherhood zone.

I recently interviewed Rev. Lainie Dowell, an author and political activist who has studied in depth Barack Obama, Islam and the African nations push to create the United States of Africa. She said from her research that this had been going on since the 1960s and she believed that Barack Obama wanted to be the head of this after he destroyed America. Kadafi, who we assassinated recently was the known pick to run this 55 state confederation and emerging super power.

Interestingly, Sher Zieve, another hard hitting commentator also told me that she had seen an interview on You Tube with Van Jones, talking to school kids. When asked by a child what Obama would do after he was done being President, Van Jones said Obama might rule the world. This was quickly scrubbed but not before many heard those words from his own lips. So…..is America simply a stepping stone to worldwide control?

Cross dresser shows up at middle school to fill in as a substitute (Vancouver, WA)

October 28, 2011 1 comment

Parents of some Vancouver sixth graders are worried about what to tell their kids after a male substitute teacher showed up at school this week in women’s clothing.

The substitute teacher filled in at Wy’East Middle School on Wednesday, covering a humanities class.

Students said it was obvious that their substitute teacher was a man dressed in women’s clothing and from what we understand, some of the kids had a hard time settling down because they were laughing and making jokes. Some were eventually pulled out of class.

The school and the Evergreen School District would not talk on camera but told us if the lesson plan is followed, they don’t take issue with cross dressing. The exception would be if the outfit violated the dress code by being too short, too tight or low cut.

The substitute teacher has worked in the school district 19 days this school year at 13 different schools. He was given the chance to talk with us but declined.

DHS Announces Halloween Checkpoints In Tennessee To Keep Children Safe

October 28, 2011 1 comment

Following the announcement that TSA agents would be involved in manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee, the State’s Homeland Security Commissioner said yesterday that a raft of new “security checkpoints” would be in place over the Halloween period to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters”.

DHS Announces Halloween Checkpoints In Tennessee To Keep Children Safe dui%20checkpoint%2002%2017%2011

Well, if it’s ‘for the children’, who are we to kick up a fuss?

“State Troopers will be conducting safety checkpoints, sobriety roadblocks, saturation patrols and other enforcement techniques to look for aggressive or impaired drivers,” over the next few days, in order to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters,” according to Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons, whose office’s role includes “terrorism prevention”.

Since the Jackson Sun has already announced where the checkpoints will be located, enabling any bad guys to avoid them, is this really about keeping the kids safe or is it about revenue generation?

States raise much-needed cash from impounding vehicles from unlicensed drivers, but legal precedent dictates that the checkpoints would be in violation of the 4th amendment and therefore unconstitutional unless “public safety” can be cited as a pretext. Hence, they’re labeled DUI checkpoints and every traveler has their protection against unreasonable searches and seizures violated.

If it’s “for the children,” then the constitution is null and void.

Apparently, because one person was killed in a car crash in Tennessee last Halloween, that justifies the bill of rights being discarded in favor of Soviet-style checkpoints.

A d v e r t i s e m e n t

In reality, this represents another example of how Homeland Security has stepped way beyond its mandate and is becoming a literal occupying force in America.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Transportation Security Administration officials would be manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee targeting truck drivers.

After public outrage, the TSA attempted to neutralize the controversy by claiming that the inspections were carried out by State Troopers (the TSA agents were there to try to recruit truck drivers into becoming snitches for the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign), and that the checkpoints were merely temporary.

In reality, the program was the latest phase of the TSA’s rapidly expanding VIPR program, under which TSA agents have been deployed to shake down Americans at everywhere from bus depots, to ferry terminals, to train stations, in one instance conducting pat downs of passengers, including children, who had already completed their journey when arriving in Savannah.

So let’s not concern ourselves with the fact that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano admitted to how her department was authorizing illegal aliens, felons who have knowingly broken the law, to work inside the United States, so long as we’re safe in the knowledge that Americans will be getting searched at checkpoints in order to take care of trick-or-treating children this Halloween – that’s what really matters.

Ron Paul Does Not Rule Out A Third-Party Run

Real Clear Politics

Friday, October 28, 2011

Ron Paul would not pledge to rule out a third-party run for president if he did not get the Republican nod. Paul said he is running for the Republican nomination and to make such an announcement now would undermine his current campaign.

Paul was discussing his candidacy with the panel on FOX News’ “Special Report.”

However, Ron Paul hinted several times during the interview that the thought is in his mind. Paul noted that there are more registered Independents than Republicans or Democrats in the state of New Hampshire.

When asked if he would pledge not to run as a third candidate Paul dodged giving a direct answer. “I pledge that I have no intention of doing it,” Paul said cheerfully.

“Well, you know, I have to vacillate a little bit in my life,” Paul said when pressed more about his opinion. Transcript below.

Clueless Boobeoisie Want Hillary Clinton to Run

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

If we are to believe a recent Time magazine poll, the boobeoisie would vote in large numbers for the war criminal Hillary Clinton over the likes of Mitt or Rick or Herman.

Clueless Boobeoisie Want Hillary Clinton to Run

“Clinton leads Mitt Romney, 55% to 38%; Rick Perry, 58% to 32%; and Herman Cain, 56% to 34%, among likely voters in a general election” writes USA Today.

Ron Paul is not figured into the equation.

Clinton says she has no interest in running for president.

Clinton, Obama, Romney, Perry – it does not matter what hand-picked establishment candidate eventually warms a seat at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The agenda remains the same. If elected by way of a rigged electoral college and Diebold voting machines, Hillary will read from the same script as Obama, Bush before him, her husband before Bush, and Reagan before Clinton, etc.

The news here is that the great unwashed, Mencken’s “boobeoisie,” are so easily bamboozled as to be a cosmic joke.

“Hillary, I’m sorry for not listening to you back in 2008,” confessed a Democrat on the pages of the Chicago Tribune back in August. “But perhaps you’ll give me another chance. Resign as secretary of state, and run against Obama in 2012. I will work my heart out for you. And I bet that millions of other angry Democrats will be with me.”

Millions of Democrats will be fooled once again, as they are invariably. Democrats are especially gullible and politically naïve, followed by mindless Fox News watching Republicans.

Both repeatedly prove Einstein right – insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

“I actually believe that she would have liked to have danced on a table in exultation, I thank the stars that we were saved from that!” ~ Jim R. Schwiesow — Graceless Diplomacy: A Hallmark of US Thinking

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Did you note the gleeful hilarity with which our Secretary of State greeted the news of the grim and ignominious assassination of Ethiopian leader Moammer Gadhafi at the hands of an American backed rabble of depraved and perverted insurgents of infinitely less worth and morality than their victim. Hillary, that eternal progressive and everlastingly execrable embodiment of the disease of classless collectivism, exhibited the malevolent mentality that is the very heart of the liberal progressive ideology.

These single-minded social anarchists continually inveigh against the God-given gift of individualism and free-will and endeavor to reduce mankind to an amorphous, dependent and malleable aggregate of dependent droids. Dear reader liberalism or progressivism is a spiritual disease as deadly and negative as the deadly pathologies of a physical kind.

But, I digress – back to Hillary that black widow of the demonization euphemistically referred to as the Obama Administration; that this so-called lady would let go of any semblance of dignity and professional bearing to reveal an entirely savage and barbarous personal character in a televised public interview was astounding.

If it had not been too inelegant I actually believe that she would have liked to have danced on a table in exultation, I thank the stars that we were saved from that!…As it was she remained seated, but let go with a perfectly cold-hearted and grisly narration of the bloody assassination during which her great exhilaration – seemingly born of a sadistic and perverted character – was evidenced by graceless laughter and a mirthful shaking of her plump body with pure pleasure.

One can only speculate as to the dark forces that enable a human being to experience such a vicarious thrill from the grisly butchery of another human being.

When a credible candidate for significant political office makes a statement or adopts a strategy that seems obviously counterintuitive, criticism will shower down first, followed by a wave of wait-maybe-this-is-brilliant rebuttals. Byron York offers a bit of the latter (as well as some of the former) in a thoughtful piece that poses the question of whether Perry’s announcement that he might not attend future debates isn’t just self-serving, but actually a rational strategy that other Republicans should adopt:

Michelle: GOP Would Curb Freedom of Speech, Religion

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

In a chilling appraisal of President Obama’s Republican opposition, First Lady Michelle Obama Thursday suggested a Republican victory in the 2012 presidential election would result in curbs on freedom of speech and religion.

Speaking at a fundraiser at a private residence in Tampa, Mrs. Obama noted the power of the president to appoint members of the Supreme Court.

She clearly indicated that a Republican would select justices who would attack basic First Amendment rights, saying, “that’s what’s at stake” in the election.

From the White House transcript:

Let’s not forget about what it meant when my husband appointed those two brilliant Supreme Court justices — (applause) — and for the first time in history, our daughters — and our sons — watched three women take their seats on our nation’s highest court. (Applause.) But more importantly, let’s not forget the impact those decisions will have on our lives for decades to come — on our privacy and security, on whether we can speak freely, worship openly, and love whomever we choose. That is what’s at stake here. (Applause.)

Ford Mustang Boss 302: Kind Of A Big Deal (HOTTT Stang)

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

It’s been 42 years since Ford unleashed the Boss Mustang in the United States. There have been other great Mustangs since then–Shelby, Bullitt and Cobra among them–but the Boss mystique has entranced die-hard fans since its halycon days on the racetrack.

Their devotion has paid off: New to the U.S. market is the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, a $41,105, 444-horsepower nostalgia machine that is the quickest, best-handling vehicle Ford makes.

(snip)

- The engine. It’s a 444-horsepower 302 4V Ti-VCT V8 with a “runner in the box” intake manifold and forged pistons, sodium valves, valve springs, new rods, oil cooler and high-lift cams. All of that means it’ll do 155mph and hit 0-60mph considerably faster than the GT’s 4.6-second split. (The Boss Laguna Seca edition is even faster.) Fuel economy is decent at 17mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway.

- The engine. Did I mention it sounds great? It has to do with a new quad exhaust system but all you really need to know is that these particular notes will be instantly recognizable to anyone who should know.

Marine Scott Olsen Will Undergo Brain Surgery, And OccupyMARINES Are Making Demands

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

After being struck by a projectile at Tuesday’s Occupy Oakland evictions, Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen is lucid and awaiting brain surgery.

The Guardian reports Olsen “responded with a very large smile” when his parents arrived from Wisconsin to visit him at the hospital. Medical officials say Olsen’s able to write and hear, but is having trouble speaking.

Meanwhile, Oakland’s Mayor Jean Quan who left town after authorizing the raid, has separated herself from the police. Quan said, “I only asked the chief to do one thing: to do it when it was the safest for both the police and the demonstrators.”

Her interim police chief then denied his men had used rubber bullets or flashbang grenades. His goal, he said, “… isn’t to cause injury to anyone.”

In response to the police tactics, OccupyMARINES have issued a formal list of requests in Oakland. Whether these requests are pursued or met should be an indicator of how strong or extensive this branch of the movement has become.

Scott Olsen is the Marine Corps veteran critically injured at Occupy Oakland Tuesday night, during a confrontation between the protesters and the police. The latest news is good: his condition has been upgraded from critical to fair and he is apparently conscious and able to respond to doctors and family members. I sincerely wish him a full recovery, and I also hope that a proper investigation is conducted to determine whether police misconduct is responsible for his injuries.

But I ran across something this evening that may add a new dimension to this story. It has been widely reported that Olsen is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. But apparently his opposition to the U.S. military and the Marine Corps in which he served runs a little deeper.

The site is no longer live, but Olsen was the founder of IHateTheMarineCorps.com, a private user forum apparently dedicated to bashing the Marine Corps. (click to enlarge)

A 9-foot tall replica of the Statue of Liberty is draped in colorful flags, photographs, notes, and tributes at the National 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City.

NEW YORK — One of the largest and most prominently-displayed artifacts inside the 9/11 Museum’s preview site is actually a collection of nearly 800 smaller artifacts, assembled by a mostly anonymous group of people from around the world.

A 9-foot tall replica of the Statue of Liberty is draped in colorful flags, photographs, notes, and tributes — individual momentos that visitors attached to the statue outside a midtown Manhattan firehouse.

Friday marks the125th birthday of the actual Lady Liberty.

The firehouse, Engine Company 54/Ladder Company 4/Battalion 9, lost 15 men in the attacks. Tourists and neighbors left candles and flowers on the sidewalk in front of their building. They posted large signs to the wall.

Then, within 48 hours after the attacks, Lady Liberty appeared.

The New Islamophobia

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

There’s a longstanding joke, around since young people first started dabbling in New Age spirituality, that the “faith” of rebellious youth who call themselves “spiritual but not religious” is A.B.C. — Anything But Christianity. It’s hard not to see that concept underlying most mainstream discussions of religious issues these days, most notably in recent public discussions of Islam.

Richard Landes writes in London’s Telegraph (Aug. 24) about an “elite that controls much of the discussion in the public sphere (journalists, academics, talking heads, mainstream politicians) and who fear being called Islamophobes and racists more than they fear Islamist racists.” This elite can be found shaking fingers at the man on the street who voices concern about the behavior of Muslims, chastising him as an Islamophobic racist. Landes describes how Islamic religious culture is an honor culture, where it is legitimate, expected, even required, to shed blood to save face or to redeem the dishonored face. Since public criticism of a Muslim figure is a perceived assault on the very “face” of the person criticized, a genuinely free press, among other freedoms, is impossible in a Muslim culture, no matter what the laws on the books might proclaim. Landes continues:

The “thin skin” of Muslims is proverbial, and much public, diplomatic, and even academic discourse tacitly acknowledges and placates that cultural reality. In the last decade this has gotten much worse. The behavior of the self-identified “progressive” “left” — traditionally the bastion of stinging public criticism of abuse of power, misogyny and belligerence — has been overwhelmingly placatory towards touchy Muslims. Repeatedly, they step in to prevent anyone (fellow infidels), whom they smear as Islamophobes, from saying something that might bruise Muslims feelings.

The final point Landes drives home is that journalists and academic talking heads are subject to a different…………

“Why are none of the Republican contenders for president taking the proverbial bull by the horns?” ~ In a strong America Republic Socialists Need Not Apply

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Someday when we the people look back into the chain of events that led to the Fundamental Transformation of America, the biggest question will surely be:“Why did no one in the 535 elected officials step forward to fight it?

In the zany world of politics, there’s a ‘committee’ for just about anything, including the hideous so-called “bi-partisan” Super Committee.

Yet no one has struck the committee called ‘How to Stop the Fundamental Transformation of America’.

Why is congress allowing Obama to proceed with a transformation of America that is forcing—against the will of its people—a noble, 235-year-old Republic into a Socialist State?

Why are none of the Republican contenders for president taking the proverbial bull by the horns?

Mere words will not curtail Marxism, only walls built against it will.

Decent, law-abiding people depend on decent, law-abiding courts whose commitment to justice seems to be fading more every day.

Civil society no longer gets to play on an even playing field. There are no checks and balances to deal with an Obama, who uses executive order to trump his enemies. It was likely within days of an inauguration when he had to retake his Oath, that the president with no provable identity, at least figuratively speaking, threw the Rule of Law out of a White House window.

Barack Obama has now had 1,000 days to work his Marxist agenda against America with no relief imminent.

These are the words patriots await:

“I come before the people today to state unequivocally that the Obama administration works night and day to destroy America. We must find the way to stop it and stop it now.”

Bishop to Congress: ‘Illegal Conditions’ Placed on Religious Providers of Services

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

WASHINGTON — In an escalation of the U.S. bishops’ campaign against “grave threats to religious liberty,” Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Conn., endorsed three bills designed to strengthen First Amendment rights.

The bishop, who heads the newly established Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops testified before Congress yesterday, Oct. 26.

“I am here today to call to your attention grave threats to religious liberty that have emerged even since June — grim validations of the bishops’ recognition of the need for urgent and concerted action in this area,” said the bishop. “I focus on these because most of them arise under federal law and so may well be the subject of corrective action by Congress.”

He appeared before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution to endorse three bills that would strengthen the religious freedom and conscience rights of Catholic institutions and individuals: the Protect Life Act (H.R. 358), recently approved by the House in a bipartisan vote; the Abortion Non-Discrimination Act (H.R. 361) and the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179).

Stockton SWAT Raid: Where Have We Seen This Before? « LewRockwell.com Blog

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

It was 7:00 a.m. when the SWAT team materialized on the steps of Joann Rice’s Stockton, California home. The raiding party, which was from neighboring San Jose, was pursuing Steve Ruiz, a member of the Hell’s Angels suspected of fatally shooting a fellow gang member. Acting on what they insisted was valid intelligence, the strike force — 30 combat-equipped operators backed up by armored vehicles — didn’t bother to get a search warrant.

When Rice’s adult daughter answered the door, the officers repeatedly demanded to know if her life was in danger. According to her mother’s account, the young woman calmly explained that there was nothing wrong, that she and her children were all right, and that the police were free to inspect the home to see if Ruiz was there.

Instead of acting on that invitation, the police seized the young lady, detained her in a vehicle for four hours, and then took her to jail. They then unloaded several rounds of tear gas into the house, leaving it with shattered windows, perforated walls, and a dense, suffocating chemical mist. The residue of the tear gas attack is now infused into the carpets and the furniture. After failing to find the fugitive following a siege that lasted several hours, the police eventually lost interest in the home and drove off without offering to help – or providing so much as an apology.

“We want it fixed,” Rice told the local CBS affiliate. “Of course I’m calling my insurance, but San Jose has to pay for this, there is no reason why they shouldn’t.”

Neo-Nazis “Patrol” Occupy Phoenix Armed with Assault Weapons(barf alert)

A conservative blogger is claiming that neo-Nazis armed with AR-15 assault rifles are “patrolling” the area where Occupy Phoenix is encamped.

Writing on Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft complains that the “liberal media” are ignoring the story, as compared to their coverage of guns at Tea Party rallies.

However Media Matters points out that while neo-Nazi J.T. Ready is heard on video saying nice things about the Occupy movement, he also “attended and reportedly spoke” at Tea Party rallies in the past.

Media Matters said this is all part of a campaign by the “right-wing media” to label the Occupy movement as anti-Semitic.

Getting Past Ron Paul’s Foreign Policy

October 28, 2011 2 comments

On Saturday, September 17th, Constitution Day, Ron Paul won the California Republican Party straw poll with 44.9% of the votes as reported by our own Bill Knowles here at WeArePolitics.com. Knowles, however, was quick to qualify his report of Paul’s victory saying, “…no matter how much someone agrees with most of [Paul’s] views they can’t get past his foreign policy.” Polling numbers support Knowles’ caveat. Of all the top-tier Republican presidential candidates, Paul struggles more than anyone else to gain hisparty’s support.

Ron Paul’s foreign policy is frequently characterized as “isolationism” by both the media and those who disagree with him. But the talking heads know they are purposefully obfuscating the heart of Ron Paul’s foreign policymessage when they use that term. Paul prefers “non-interventionism” todescribe his beliefs. Or “mutually assured respect,” which was deliberately chosen to contrast with the foreign policy of mutually assured destruction the world has known for most of the last century. Mutually assured respect is the “Golden Rule” applied to foreign policy. It means friendship and trade with other nations with no threats, bribes, or occupation. It also means ending taxpayer-funded foreign aid to rich dictators.

Congress fully aware Obama is a fraud. « The Radio Patriot

October 28, 2011 2 comments

Lawrence Sellin, a retired colonel with 29 years of service in the US Army Reserve and a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, has figured out and put into writing what we’ve known for some time… that members of Congress on both sides of the aisle know full well that Obama is a fraud and his presidency is fraudulent. And unconstitutional. But they, along with the courts, cower behind the excuse that “he was elected by the people, so that’s that.”

Bullcrap. Here’s Sellin:

I have received information from multiple sources that Congressional Republicans are fully aware that Barack Hussein Obama is a Constitutionally illegal President and has committed felonies both before and after occupying the Oval Office.

Specifically, Obama is not a natural born citizen and, therefore, has never been eligible for the office of President. In addition, Obama has forged his birth documents and Selective Service registration and uses a Social Security number not issued to him.

“Big Brother is Listening To Phone Calls And Reading Text Messages”‏

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

on November 9th, 2011 Americans will get an up close and personal demonstration of the new powers the US government has given itself over America’s broadcast services.

There will be a complete take over of the nation’s air waves, both television and radio – plus — cable television systems, wireless cable systems, satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) providers, and direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers. The power to do this is now in the hands of the President. Only he has the authority to do this.

On November 9th there will be a test of how effectively the system will work whenever the President decides he must speak to the American people reference an emergency that threatens the nation.

Who exactly, decides when there is a national emergency? I would expect it to be the President himself.

I am a 30-year veteran of the broadcast business (retired) and this sends chills up and down my spine. I have visions of Big Brother taking control of the nation’s broadcast systems any time the President feels the need.

But that is not the worst of my concerns.

There is no such thing as “privacy” in America any longer. The moment I press “send” on my e-mail, the government scans it. Every time I make a phone call, whether on my land line, or my cell phone, the government monitors it. If I send a fax on an instant message, the government scans the wording of the fax. If and when I send a text message, the government reads it, too. UNBELIEVABLE, right? Believe it.

This is a combined project referred to as “Echelon” (or The Echelon Network – sometimes called “The Five Eyes.”) involving the US,

DO CONSERVATIVES WANT TO WIN IN 2012 OR NOT?

This is a serious question, by no means rhetorical. Conservatives may be full of sound and fury against Zero, but it signifies nothing without actual evidence, of which there is little.

Tea Partyers can wave the American flag and proclaim their passion for reclaiming America, but you can’t beat something with nothing.

If this isn’t true, then why is a Total Rino way ahead in the polls? *******************

Perry’s tax and economic reform proposal is far, far better (and better thought out) than Cain’s 9-9-9, which keeps changing and necessitates a national sales tax. His mechanism for reducing the federal government to Constitutional levels is the best one for doing so – the 10th Amendment. He will revive the economy far, far more than Romney would by getting the government more out of the way, and by drilling, baby, drilling. How A Candidate Should Handle Birther Questions

This past week, Texas Governor Rick Perry was hit with the “birther” question by Parade Magazine. Here is how it went:

(PM)Governor, do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the United States?

(Perry)I have no reason to think otherwise.

(PM)That’s not a definitive, “Yes, I believe he”-

(Perry)Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate.

(PM) you’ve seen his.

(Perry) I don’t know. Have I?

This, of course, created a microburst of concern, fake and real, over Perry’s campaign smarts. “You associate yourself with a nutty view like that, and you damage yourself,” said Bush strategist Karl Rove. When pressed, Perry predictably waffled: “It’s fun to, you know, lighten up a little bit.” He added, “I was just having some fun with Donald Trump.”

How to Spot Psychopaths: Speech Patterns Give Them Away

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Crime scene psychopaths reveal themselves through their speech Psycopaths are estimated to make up 1 percent of the population and up to 25 percent of male offenders in correctional settings.

NEW YORK — Psychopaths are known to be wily and manipulative, but even so, they unconsciously betray themselves, according to scientists who have looked for patterns in convicted murderers’ speech as they described their crimes.

The researchers interviewed 52 convicted murderers, 14 of them ranked as psychopaths according to the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised, a 20-item assessment, and asked them to describe their crimes in detail. Using computer programs to analyze what the men said, the researchers found that those with psychopathic scores showed a lack of emotion, spoke in terms of cause-and-effect when describing their crimes, and focused their attention on basic needs, such as food, drink and money. [10 Contested Death Penalty Cases]

While we all have conscious control over some words we use, particularly nouns and verbs, this is not the case for the majority of the words we use, including little, functional words like “to” and “the” or the tense we use for our verbs, according to Jeffrey Hancock, the lead researcher and an associate professor in communications at Cornell University, who discussed the work on Monday (Oct. 17) in Midtown Manhattan at Cornell’s ILR Conference Center.

Why Occupy Wall Street Needs a Republican President

October 28, 2011 2 comments

There’s only one way the Occupy Wall Street movement can become like the tea parties, and that’s for Barack Obama to lose in 2012. Why? Because Obama is the most divisive figure in American politics today.

I suspect that sentence reads funny to some people because in the mainstream press, “divisive” is usually a term reserved for “conservatives we disagree with.” But as a factual matter it can apply to anybody who is, well, divisive.

Obviously, Obama divides the right and left. That’s not all that interesting or relevant (even if it does represent a failure to live up to his “one America” rhetoric from 2008). But Obama also divides everyone else. Independents, whom he desperately needs to win re-election, are split over Obama, with the bulk siding with Republicans.

Even more significant, the left is deeply divided over Obama. According to reports, the Occupy Wall Street movement is torn over whether to support the incumbent president. Polling of the protestors is sketchy at best, but so far it’s pretty clear that most of the protestors liked Obama in 2008, and now roughly half of them are disillusioned by, disappointed in, or opposed to Obama.

That should only make sense, right? If Occupy Wall Street is a sincere, organic, grassroots movement for radical change and overturning the status quo, it can’t be 100 percent behind the guy who’s been running the country for the last three years.

Moreover, Democrats had near total control of the government for Obama’s first two years. Together, Obama and congressional Democrats already got their Wall Street and student-loan reforms, their health-care overhaul and a huge stimulus. And yet Occupy Wall Street is still furious with the political status quo. Does anyone believe Obama can both run on his record and co-opt the Occupy Wall Streeters?

But he declined to respond directly to the latest inconsistencies related to his retelling of his parents’ arrival from Cuba and their early years in the U.S.

Gallup: Self-reported gun ownership rises, especially among women, Dems

October 28, 2011 3 comments

Self-reported gun ownership is at an all-time high among women, according to Gallup’s annual poll on gun ownership in the United States.

According to Gallup, 43 percent of women report household gun ownership, up from 33 percent in 2009. The poll found that 23 percent of women personally own firearms.

The trend follows a rise in U.S. gun ownership in general, regardless of party affiliation or region.

Forty-seven percent of American adults say they have a gun in their home or elsewhere on their property. That’s up from 41 percent a year ago, and the highest percentage since 1993.

Republicans are still more likely to report gun ownership, but the number of Democratic gun owners spiked dramatically — rising from 30 percent in 2009 to 40 percent this year.

Gallup’s Oct. 6–9 poll also determined that public support for personal gun rights is at an all-time high.

Gun sales and applications for concealed-carry permits spiked in 2009 following President Obama’s election victory. And arond the same time, two significant Supreme Court cases affirmed the Second Amendment as an individual right.

Gallup cautions, however, that only time will tell if this is a trend or merely a temporary blip.

“At 47%, reported gun ownership is the highest it has been in nearly two decades — a finding that may be related to Americans’ dampened support for gun-control laws,” Gallup wrote. “However, to ensure that this year’s increase reflects a meaningful rebound in reported gun ownership, it will be important to see whether the uptick continues in future polling.”

Mayor ends ‘Occupy Atlanta’ when Second Amendment exercised with First

“Scores of Atlanta police officers moved in overnight — some clad in riot gear, some on horseback, all under orders to clear the park of protesters,” NBC 11Alive.com reports. “The order came from Mayor Kasim Reed, who says the last straw was a man walking around Woodruff Park Tuesday afternoon carrying an assault rifle.”

[T]he man…declined to identify himself. “(The gun is) a symbol of the last line of resistance against a government that’s going to try to push people out because of their ideals,” he said. The man told [11Alive's Jaye] Watson the weapon was a semi-automatic version of the AK-47. Such weapons are legal in Georgia

As is peaceable open carry.

And as is freedom of speech, and to assemble. As strongly as some may disagree with the methods and message of the protestors, a government with the power to prohibit them is much more to be feared. The issues of legality as far as OA went appeared to center on turning a public space into a squatter’s camp in violation of access and use rules and the ensuing problems that caused. But to be clear, the over-reaction of Mayor Reed’s government to a man lawfully exercising his rights is what shut things down, not the man.

A man who posts on the Georgia Packing forum as “Sine Nomen,” by the way, and who disclosed his intentions in a post Tuesday morning:

I’m about to shave, put on dress clothes with a (non brooks-brothers) tie and head down there with a sign: “I disagree with their message, but these people have a right to be here.”

If anyone would like to join me, I’ll be the guy with a rifle.

True to his word, he gave an afternoon update:

Obama’s 2012 run to be non-starter?

October 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Just when the White House probably thought those pesky lawsuits seeking a court determination that Barack Obama fails to meet the Constitution’s eligibility requirements for a president were finished, something new has appeared on the horizon.

Or in this case, the court docket.

The Liberty Legal Foundation has filed a pair of lawsuits in state and federal courts that don’t ask anything about Obama’s birth or for any determination from the court about his eligibility. Or his birth certificate, for that matter.

Jerome Corsi’s New York Times best-seller, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”, which addresses Obama’s Social Security Number and a host of other disputes, is now available for immediate shipping, autographed by the author, only from the WND Superstore

Instead, they name the national Democratic Party as a defendant, and ask the court to enjoin officials there from certifying that Obama is eligible for the office for the 2012 election.

“This complaint does not request or require this court to find that President Obama is not qualified to hold the office of president of the United States. Instead, this complaint is directed toward defining the term ‘natural-born citizen’ under the Constitution of the United States, and toward negligence or intentional misrepresentations of the Democratic Party.

“This complaint requests this court to affirm the Supreme Court’s definition of ‘natural-born citizen’ as ‘all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens.’”

Federal agency caves to public outrage

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Friday, October 28, 2011

In a rare example of the federal agency caving to public outrage, the TSA has been forced to fire the screener who left a lewd message in lawyer Jill Filipovic’s checked bag after conducting an inspection and finding a sex toy.

Get Your Freak On Girl TSA Screener Fired 155649093 796c39522e

After arriving at her hotel, Filipovic discovered that her bag had been searched and a TSA inspection form had been amended with the words “GET YOUR FREAK ON GIRL” written on the reverse side.

Having initially only suspended the TSA screener responsible, the federal agency was forced to go a step further only after the story went viral and caused substantial public outrage.

“[The TSA] has initiated action to remove the individual from federal service,” a TSA spokesperson said. “Like all federal employees, this individual is entitled to due process and protected by the Privacy Act. During the removal action process, the employee will not perform any screening duties.”

Ironically, the TSA refuses to reveal the name or gender of the culprit, citing the Privacy Act.

Filipovic rightly suggests that the TSA’s decision to lay the blame on one person only serves to hide the all-pervading disregard for privacy within the whole agency.

  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t

“It’s easy to scape-goat one individual here, but the problem with the note is that it’s representative of the bigger privacy intrusions that the U.S. government, through the TSA and other sources, levels every day,” wrote Filipovic. “The invasion is inherent to the TSA’s mission, regardless of whether a funny note is left behind — the note only serves to highlight the absurdity of all this security theater. As much as this is a funny and titillating story, when I put the note on Twitter for what I thought was a relatively limited audience I was hoping it would open up a bigger conversation about privacy rights (or lack thereof) in post-9/11 America.”

Meanwhile, yet more TSA agents have been caught engaging in criminal activity, in this case stealing cash from a checked bag at John F. Kennedy Airport.

44-year-old Coumar Persad, of Queens, and 31-year-old Davon Webb, of the Bronx, pleaded guilty to grand larceny yesterday after admitting to stealing $40,000 dollars after spotting the cash in a bag that was being X-rayed.

As we have documented, the overwhelming instances of unlawful activity on behalf of TSA agents that have been made public clearly indicates that crooks are being attracted to the job because it gives them ample opportunity to satisfy their criminal tendencies, particularly in the context of theft and sexual molestation.

‘Rising’ to Empire, Falling From Grace by William Norman Grigg

October 27, 2011 1 comment

“If we have to use force, it is because we are America. We are the indispensable nation. We stand tall. We see further into the future.”

This panegyric to what is commonly called “American Exceptionalism” could have been composed by any of a number of GOP-aligned media figures, such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, or their legions of local imitators. Those words were actually spoken by Madeleine Albright in 1998, when she was the Clinton administration’s Secretary of State. She was defending the U.S. role in enforcing an embargo on Iraq in the aftermath of the first Gulf War in 1991.

Albright had memorably addressed that issue in a different fashion three years earlier during an interview on the CBS program 60 Minutes.

“We have heard that a half million children have died,” observed interviewer Leslie Stahl. “I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”…..

EXCERPT

Without challenging the statistics, or displaying even a tremor of remorse, Albright replied: “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price – we think the price is worth it.”

By reconciling Albright’s statements we learn that when “we have to” impose policies that result in the avoidable death, through starvation and disease, of hundreds of thousands of children, “it is because we are America…. We stand tall. We see further into the future.”

For some reason, the self-styled seers and visionaries who defended the Iraqi embargo didn’t foresee how that policy, coupled with decades of U.S. meddling in the Middle East, would cultivate and nurture the seeds that bore murderous fruit on September 11, 2001.

To ordinary people not blessed with Albright’s oracular insight, it seemed obvious that some variety of murderous blowback would be the inevitable product of a foreign policy that featured deliberate mass starvation punctuated with bombing raids. However, the custodians of permissible opinion have decreed that history began on the morning of 9/11 – that nothing the U.S. government did prior to that date has any organic connection to the motives and actions of those who carried out the attack (at least as that attack is described in the officially sanctioned narrative). To suggest that Washington’s policies had some relationship to anti-American sentiment in the Middle East is to commit a grave blasphemy against American Exceptionalism – the official creed of the ruling Establishment, irrespective of party.

Napolitano silent on alternatives while criminal aliens released in U.S.

October 27, 2011 3 comments

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a House committee that she is “not aware” of any actions the Obama administration has taken against countries that will not accept back illegal immigrants in “deportation status,” some of whom have committed crimes. After a “six-month detention period,” the illegal immigrants are released within the United States.

“DHS is supposed to order or give the country that refuses to take back its aliens — the Secretary of State ‘shall order’ — that the visas to its citizens be suspended,” Adams concluded. ”How many have you recommended under Section 243(d)?”

Napolitano answered, “We have not — what we have done is work with — there are countries that systemically refuse to accept their aliens back.

General: Cuts risk Marines’ war-fighting missions–Warns Congress against reduction

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

A top Marine Corps general told Congress on Thursday that cutting the Corps to 150,000 Marines, as some analysts project, would mean it could not fulfill its mission during a major war, or respond adequately to crises and humanitarian disasters around the world.

“A hundred and fifty thousand would put us below the level that’s necessary to support a single contingency,” said Gen. Joseph Dunford, who as assistant commandant is the nation’s No. 2 Marine.

Furthermore, the Marines, known as America’s 911 response force, would be limited in carrying out an array of special missions.

“We will not be there to deter our potential adversaries,” he told the House Armed Services subcommittee on readiness. “We won’t be there to assure our potential friends or to assure our allies. And we certainly won’t be there to contain small crises before they become major conflagrations.”

The Pentagon is searching for $465 billion in cuts over 10 years as man dated by a Congress-White House budget deal. If a congressional supercommittee can’t agree on a larger debt-reduction road map, the Pentagon would face another $450 billion slash, a move that Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta has said will lead to a “hollow” military.

Gen. Dunford made his stark warning about diminishing Marine Corps capabilities amid news reports that the supercommittee is not close to an agreement as the Nov. 23 deadline approaches.

A committee Republican staff memo says the Marine Corps stands at 202,000 troops and is slated to shrink to 173,000 under current planning. But if the supercommittee fails to reach an agreement, the Corps would be forced to cut another 28,000 Marines to 145,000, the memo said.

History Lesson: Prepare for a Faux-Recovery

October 27, 2011 1 comment

In 1936, Franklin Delano Roosevelt defeated Alfred Landon by an electoral vote of 523 to 8. This was the only contested election in which the major losing candidate received fewer than 10 votes (1788, 1792 and 1820 were uncontested). The landslide came on the heels of what appeared to be an economic recovery. Unemployment fell, productivity rose; people believed the New Deal really worked and they rewarded FDR accordingly. Shortly into the second term did the ugly truth reveal itself. The so-called recovery had been built entirely on government spending. Massive borrowing and government make-work projects put money in enough people’s pockets that the economy grew. FDR, who always thought of himself as a fiscal conservative, began rolling back the WPA and other spending programs. When that happened, the economy collapsed. This was the second dip of the Great Depression, and it sent FDR into his own personal depression. The truth was that the so-called recovery that had propelled FDR to his historic landslide win in 1936 was built entirely on government spending. The economy was still on life support and the New Deal policies had only made recovery harder.

Why is this relevant? It’s relevant because we are going to see it again in the coming months. The signs are there: a strong month for the Dow, 2.5% growth in the third quarter, a decline in unemployment, a slowdown in foreclosures. These trends, if sustained, will make Obama look like a genius come next June. But, like the FDR recovery of 1935 and 1936, the Obama recovery of 2012 will be based entirely on government hiring, government borrowing and government spending. The media will proclaim the Obama Recovery and compare him to Reagan with the GOP and Cain’s 9-9-9 plan playing the part of Mondale. Will the voters fall for it? Yes. Will the GOP be savvy enough to ask where the private sector went? Maybe. Will the RNC have the guts to harp on the real unemployment number- the one that accounts for the underemployed and those who have given up? No.

Latest Steve Jobs Mystery Revealed: How He Drove Without License Plates

October 27, 2011 1 comment

The multitude of mysteries revealed following the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ death now includes one that puzzled car enthusiasts for years: How did Jobs get away with driving without a license plate? It was common knowledge that Jobs would park his Mercedes SL55 AMG in a handicapped spot at Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters, with nothing to identify his vehicle other than the tiny barcode that usually rests behind the rear license plate. According to Walter Isaacson’s new biography, Jobs wanted to avoid having a plate for privacy reasons; and yet when having a license-less silver Mercedes became a kind of trademark, Jobs kept motoring without one “because I don’t.” [snip] You’ll have to read at the link to find the answer. ;)

Bachmann criticizes Obama’s student loan plan

October 27, 2011 1 comment

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann criticized a directive by President Barack Obama to ease student loan debt as an “abuse of power” that will give people incentive to dodge debt.

The candidates reacted Thursday to a decision Obama announced a day earlier to cap required payments for some college loan borrowers at a lower percentage of their income and forgive payments for others after 20 years. He used executive authority to accelerate a law that wasn’t supposed to go into effect until 2014.

“I believe it is abuse of power from the executive to impose via an executive order a wholesale change in the student loan,” Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, said during an education forum in New York put on by The College Board and News Corp.

Orlando Jones’ Death Threat Against Sarah Palin Shows Double Standard

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

Orlando Jones, the actor and comedian, is in hot water over a tweet in which he compared former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to Moammar Gadhafi and suggested liberals band together and kill her.

Though Jones, under a withering Internet onslaught for the idea, has been pleading he was just kidding and that he has a constitutional right to say he wishes anyone he wants to be killed, the tweet is fraught with irony.

Palin was accused of fomenting violence in the wake of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting because of a map her PAC distributed placing the congresswoman’s district in cross hairs during the 2010 election cycle. While individuals and some of the conservative media have been incandescent in their outrage, the same mainstream media who took Palin to task over the cross hairs map have been strangely silent over the actual death threat directed against her.

On Tyranny and Liberty: Would the Founders approve of the nation we’ve made?

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

A U.S. Supreme Court justice recounted over cocktails a while ago his travails with his hometown zoning board. He wanted to build an addition onto his house, containing what the plans described as a home office, but he met truculent and lengthy resistance. This is a residential area, a zoning official blustered—no businesses allowed. The judge mildly explained that he would not be running a business from the new room; he would be using it as a study. Well, challenged the suspicious official, what business are you in? I work for the government, the justice replied. Okay, the official finally conceded—grudgingly, as if conferring an immense and special discretionary favor; we’ll let it go by this time. But, he snapped in conclusion, don’t ever expletive-deleted with us again.

Isn’t that sort of petty tyranny? I asked.

Yes, the justice replied; there’s a lot of it going around.

Tyranny isn’t a word you hear often, certainly not in conversations about the First World. But as American voters mull over the election campaign now under way, they’re more than usually inclined to ponder first principles and ask what kind of country the Founding Fathers envisioned. As voters’ frequent invocations of the Boston Tea Party recall, the Founding began with a negation, a statement of what the colonists didn’t want. They didn’t want tyranny: by which they meant, not a blood-dripping, rack-and-gridiron Inquisition, but merely taxation without representation—and they went to war against it. “The Parliament of Great Britain,” George Washington wrote a friend as he moved toward taking up arms several months after the Tea Party, “hath no more Right to put their hands into my Pocket without my consent, than I have to put my hands into your’s, for money.”…..

Paul Ryan’s Great Speech…..

October 27, 2011 1 comment

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Paul Ryan yesterday went over to the Heritage Foundation to deliver a speech about conservatism, Obama, and class warfare. We have three sound bites. It was a terrific speech, and I think Congressman Ryan is one of the leading intellectual lights in elected Republican circles for defining modern-era conservatism.

RYAN: The president has opted for divisive rhetoric and the broken politics of the past. He’s going from town to town impugning the motives of Republicans, setting up straw men and scapegoats and engaging in intellectually lazy argument as he tries to build support for punitive tax hikes on job creators.

RUSH: He continued.

RYAN: Instead of appealing to the hope and optimism that were the hallmarks to his first campaign, he has launched his second campaign by preying on the emotions of fear, envy, and resentment. This has the potential to be just as damaging as his misguided policies. Sowing social unrest and class resentment makes America weaker, not stronger.

RUSH: Right.

RYAN: Pitting one group against another only distracts us from the true sources of inequity in this country. Corporate welfare that enriches the powerful and empty promises that betray the powerless.

RUSH: He’s right. The whole speech was superb. There was a Q&A afterward. The moderator was the president at Heritage, Ed Feulner. He said, “What do you make of Elizabeth Warren‘s comments that successful people are successful only because of the things government provides and that confiscatory taxation is justified because it’s not really their success?”

RYAN: This is what I call “the fatal conceit of progressivism.” It’s upside down. It’s the presumption that money and wealth made and created in America is the government’s unless they benevolently expend it back to people.

RUSH: Right.

‘Rogue websites’ bill introduced in US House

10-27-2011 • Breitbart.com

US lawmakers introduced a bill on Wednesday that would give US authorities more tools to crack down on websites accused of piracy of movies, television shows and music and the sale of counterfeit goods.

The Stop Online Piracy Act has received bipartisan support in the House of Representatives and is the House version of a bill introduced in the Senate in May known as the Theft of Intellectual Property Act or Protect IP Act.

The legislation has received the backing of Hollywood, the music industry, the Business Software Alliance, the National Association of Manufacturers, the US Chamber of Commerce and other groups.

But it has come under fire from digital rights and free speech organizations for allegedly paving the way for US law enforcement to unilaterally shut down websites, including foreign sites, without due process.

House Judiciary Committee chairman Lamar Smith, a Republican from Texas, said the bill “helps stop the flow of revenue to rogue websites and ensures that the profits from American innovations go to American innovators.

“Rogue websites that steal and sell American innovations have operated with impunity,” Smith said in a statement.

“The online thieves who run these foreign websites are out of the reach of US law enforcement agencies and profit from selling pirated goods without any legal consequences,” he said.

“The bill prevents online thieves from selling counterfeit goods in the US, expands international protections for intellectual property, and protects American consumers from dangerous counterfeit products,” Smith said.

The Republican Party roots are, without a doubt, embedded in Communism. Their second candidate for office, Mr. Lincoln‘s actions prove his acceptance of all Communism could give him. When one compares the works of Adolph Hitler with those of Lincoln, their commonalities become shockingly evident.

The Communist 1848ers arrived in America. And thus began the story of lies that exploded into the bloodiest, most unnecessary war our America has ever known. Even in this year of 2011 there remains an unending story full of sound and fury signifying the deliberate, cold-blooded murder of American women and children, the murder of imprisoned Confederate soldiers and the U.S. Constitution. Today it has an added “New World Order,” twist which is pro- United Nations, pro-hedonism, anti-Christian-anti-God, anti-family, the anti states-right, and, of course anti-Constitution.

Benson and Kennedy, clearly and succinctly -without any fanciful literary pirouetting, present the facts, prove the relationships of the Marxist-Communists with dishonest, obviously non-Christian Abe Lincoln………

Gingrich fires back at Meghan McCain…

October 27, 2011 1 comment

Newt Gingrich doesn’t seem fazed by criticism from Meghan McCain that his campaign is just a “vanity project.”

“How would she have a clue?” asked the former Speaker of the House in a Wednesday interview with The Daily Caller.

Gingrich seemed surprised by the accusation from the Daily Beast columnist and daughter of Senator John McCain — especially since his poll numbers mirror her father’s in 2007.

Watch, and learn what Gingrich really thinks about Meghan McCain, Rick Perry’s flat tax and the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Hillary Clinton polls ahead of GOP frontrunners (Not that it matters, but still…)

October 27, 2011 1 comment

Barack Obama barely beats them in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups (and, occasionally, polls show they would beat him), but, apparently, if Hillary Clinton were to run for president on the Democratic ticket, she would make mincemeat of Mitt Romney, pommel Rick Perry and clean Herman Cain’s clock:

A national poll conducted for TIME on Oct. 9 and 10 found that if Clinton were the Democratic nominee for President in 2012, she would best Mitt Romney 55% to 38%, Rick Perry 58% to 32% and Herman Cain 56% to 34% among likely voters in a general election. The same poll found that President Obama would edge Romney by just 46% to 43%, Perry by 50% to 38% and Cain by 49% to 37% among likely voters…..

Obama’s Friend Ayers: Kill 25 Million Americans

October 27, 2011 2 comments

…I asked, “Well what is going to happen to those people we can’t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?” And the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated.

And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.

And when I say “eliminate,” I mean “kill.”

Twenty-five million people.

I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people and they were dead serious.

On October 28, Bob Owens of pajamasmedia.com published a recent interview he had conducted with Grathwohl, expanding on his statements in No Place to Hide 26 years ago.

Here is a portion of the interview, which can be read in entirety at pajamasmedia.com.

Bachmann Sets Record Straight on State of Campaign

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

BACHMANN: Well, we are in the process of hiring new people in New Hampshire. We are hiring new people in South Carolina and Iowa, but quite honestly, nobody asked me about the staffing and what is going on. What they talked to me about is my real jobs right now plan. That’s my plan to turn the economy around. People can find that at MicheleBachmann.com. I am much more than a tax plan, I’m a comprehensive job creation plan. And people have been very excited about it wherever we’re going around the country.

-snip-

BACHMANN: No. What I’m saying is that we are replacing people in New Hampshire as new hires, and we’re very excited about where the campaign is at right now. We are adding new people in all of the states and we are growing. So, we are very excited.

But just this last week, I gave a major economic address at the commonwealth club in San Francisco and I laid out my economic plan for turning the country around. I’m a former tax lawyer. I started to run a successful, profitable company. I understand what needs to be done and people can find that on MicheleBachmann.com.

-snip-

BACHMANN: Well, actually, I would love to come on your show and talk about my plan. It’s been out there for several weeks. And I actually like what Governor Perry is coming up with because it’s, in essence, my plan.

HANNITY: A flat tax?

BACHMANN: They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and I’ve been talking for months about a simpler, flatter system that you can do on — do on a postcard and send in. And so I’m grateful that Governor Perry has endorsed my plan and adopted it.

-snip-

BACHMANN: My plan has everyone paying something.

Greta: This is what is wrong with journalism — and it is the New York Times, too.

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

The New York Times article is a good example of what is wrong with journalism. I saw the headline and I was eager to read it – I would like to know about Herman Cain’s campaign. How is it doing?

Instead the article below is rank gossip – check the orange text below and it is almost 100 % anonymous sources. Really? Anonymous sources trashing a campaign? Is that journalism? A bunch of former unnamed aides? Is that what the New York Times call journalism?

Does the NY Times think we are so dimwitted that we are supposed to think each of their unnamed sources is a fair minded person without an axe to grind wanting to give us real facts? Where are the names? Journalists, not gossips, would have convinced the sources to step up to the plate and identify themselves. If the sources would not have identified themselves, the New York Times should have the pride in their product and walked away from the story. You know – and I guess the NY Times does not – that hiding behind anonymity is an invitation to do a drive by hit on someone you don’t like. Why would the New York Times want to be used like this? Don’t they get it?

Boehner blasts Obama on economy: Sidestepping Congress is ‘laughable’ (Audio)

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

During a speech Tuesday in Las Vegas, President Obama said that the U.S. economy is in trouble, and that “we can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will.” The president pushed hard against what he sees as a do-nothing Congress, explaining what he planned to do about mortgages and student loans without the legislative branch’s say-so. On “The Laura Ingraham Show” Thursday, Speaker of the House John Boehner pushed back.

The Ohio Republican blasted Obama and accused him of usurping the authority that the U.S. Constitution grants to Congress.

“I thought we were a nation of laws and that our country was governed by our Constitution,” Boehner said.

Class war: Obama offers cash-for-votes student loan policy

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

President Barack Obama’s new student loan policy will force working class Americans to pay the ballooning college costs of middle class Americans, and will also hinder needed reform of the bloated education sector, say critics.

Obama is “shifting the burden of paying for college to all of those Americans who did not graduate from college — the waitresses, construction workers, mechanics — and that should infuriate the taxpayers who worked hard to pay off their loans, who decided to live a modest lifestyle to pay off their loans,” said Lindsey Burke, an analyst at the Heritage Foundation.

Obama’s policy is also widening the class division between working-class Americans and those with college credentials, said Matthew Denhart, a researcher at the Center for College Affordability and Productivity in Washington, D.C.

Did the NYPD Police Commissioner Meet With George Soros in Secret?

October 27, 2011 2 comments

Did the most powerful police commissioner in America have a secret meeting with leftist financier George Soros?

Len Levitt, the police journalist and blogger behind NYPD Confidential, claims in a piece on HuffPo that Soros scored a clandestine conference with Kelly at One Police Plaza, the NYPD’s headquarters, just last week. According to Levitt, Soros was “escorted in by a retired NYPD cop, driving a wine-colored Mercedes, [and] the left-leaning billionaire was whisked in and out of police headquarters with no one being the wiser.”

Levitt claims that a Soros official confirmed the meeting to him. But NYPD has remained mum on the subject.

Soros’s face-to-face with Ray Kelly comes amidst accusation that the Open Society Institute has been a key source of funds for Occupy Wall Street. Reuters even published a story on the connection, which led to widespread outrage in the mainstream press

BREAKING: PJ Media Finds Gunwalker’s ‘Unreachable’ Man in the White House

October 27, 2011 Leave a comment

The Obama admin. told Rep. Darrell Issa that Kevin O’Reilly – Gunwalker’s possible connection to Obama — was “in Iraq and unavailable.” He’s there, but available. After we called him, his phone number was deactivated.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform led by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is investigating to what extent the White House was aware of — or involved in — the “Fast and Furious” gunwalking scandal.

The committee recently requested to speak with former White House National Security Staffer Kevin O’Reilly. According to CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson, the Obama administration answered:

O’Reilly is on assignment for the State Department in Iraq and unavailable.

Through a tip, PJ Media learned that Kevin O’Reilly was unexpectedly named director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau for Iraq (INL-Iraq). Long-time INL-Iraq employee Virginia Ramadan had been expected to get the position — many were quite surprised when she did not.

The previous occupants of the Director, INL-Iraq position — Joe Manso and Francisco Palmieri — were not considered “unreachable” to press or government access. A quick internet search reveals Palmieri, while director, attended a media event on August 23, 2010 .

Chuck Baldwin — Tennessee Joins TSA In Creating Random Check Points

For all intents and purposes, the Patriot Act eviscerated the 4th and 5th amendments to the US Constitution (and seriously injured many of the others). The Posse Comitatus Act, which dates back to 1878, was flushed down the toilet during the presidencies of George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and now Barack Obama. Since 1968, 2nd Amendment liberties are only a shell of what America’s founders intended and established. And the above-mentioned story out of the State of Tennessee is just the latest example of how the US and State governments are continuing to shred the Bill of Rights–and virtually every other protection of individual liberties once thought sacred.

The State of Tennessee should be ashamed of itself–and the people of Tennessee should be outraged!

Lee Duigon — Watching Our Civilization Disintegrate

October 27, 2011 1 comment

What does it look like when a civilization falls apart at the seams?

Let the four recent news stories below serve as vignettes to show exactly what it looks like.

Introducing… the Computerized Toilet! The world’s on fire, but when you’re perched on one of these luxury high-tech “Numi” toilets from the Kohler Company, what do you care? For a mere $6,500, you can get a toilet that opens and closes by itself, plays music, warms your feet, remembers your favorite water temperature, and for all I know, gives you red-hot stock tips, too. Ideal for sitting under the stars in your glass-walled penthouse: see the ad. Just don’t get caught there during an electrical storm.

Real-life superheroes, in capes and masks, have been turning up in many cities, Startribune reports. Some folks are watching too many movies, reading too many comic books. (They’ve got their own website) Supposedly they’re out to stop crime in their neighborhoods. Police are afraid these costumed kooks will barge in on a situation and injure some innocent citizen, or wind up getting shot, stabbed, or beaten up by some annoyed criminal.

Gee whiz! No one ever beats up Batman! Follow the script, people! I’ve got a cape, I’ve got a mask, I’m wearing tights and a Speedo—what could possibly go wrong?

“The solutions Buchanan calls for will never happen. It’s far too late to save yourselves from the mess you allowed to be created. It is you, the American people, who continually vote our benefactors back into office over and over and over again. (Examples: Senators Harry Reid, John McCain, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Mark Udall, Mike Bennet, Charles Schumer, etc.) Now you must deal with the repercussions of your foolish actions.

Maybe if there were more real men in this country, things would be different. I can almost sympathize with you. I don’t give a sh*t about this country, I’m just here to suck as much out of this bloated b*tch as I can before the collapse comes. And there are millions more here just like me! (Illegals and legal immigrants cost U.S. taxpayers $346 billion annually across 15 federal welfare agencies; source: www.thesocialcontract.com with economist Edwin Rubenstein’s report)

On the bright side, at least we don’t want to convert you all to Islam. Have you been to Dearbornistan lately?

Ron Paul defends gays in the military. (“heterosexuals.. causing more trouble than gays.”)

Texas congressman and current Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul defended the rights of gay military servicemen and servicewomen to serve, saying “everybody has the same rights as everybody else.”…

…“And there’s a lot more heterosexuals in the military, so logically they’re causing more trouble than gays.”…

…Mr. Paul, who has emphasized his campaign’s support from the military, was one of five House Republicans to vote for the repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy earlier this year. The Texas Republican has repeatedly expressed support for repealing the controversial policy, which took effect last month
