Paul McGuire — The Warning Behind the Nationwide Emergency Alert System
…..I was interviewing a high-level intelligence Pentagon official who brought up the possibility of Martial Law. and how, This action may be necessary from a Military Security perspective. I believe this man loved our country and spoke with integrity. However, he commented that in a time of great emergency Martial Law may become necessary. “Once the crisis is over the government will return government back to the people.
The problem with that premise is that it is based on the integrity of who is in power at the time of crisis and what guarantee do we have that our government will return the government of ‘We the people,’ back to the people?”
This is a very serious matter and that is why there is so much concern regarding things like a simple 30 second test, which can cause tremendous apprehension among many Americans.
The reality is that the apprehension is based on what has transpired in our nation over the last 30 years. There is legitimate cause for great concern. The expression, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely,” is certainly applicable here.
As we reflect on the Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test and consider things like the “kill switch” on the Internet or drones killing people from the sky, we need to soberly recognize how fragile our constitutional freedoms are. Ultimately, it is “we the people who have allowed,” this breach of trust to widen.
Our Founding Fathers were far wiser than we are today. They understood that man had a fallen human nature and designed the three branches of government to protect us from any branch from taking power not given to them by the Constitution. This wisdom flowed from the spiritual fires of the Great Awakening and a Biblical worldview. If we are deeply honest with ourselves, we have arrived in this place that we are in because we have rejected the eternal truths codified in such places as the Old and New Testament.

It was not an accident that on the Liberty Bell the inscription reads, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.” The Founding Fathers understood that, in order for there to be governmental liberty, the Spirit of the Lord must be welcomed and honored. As a nation, we have allowed this Spirit to be driven from our land and pulpits..
If we are to preserve our freedoms, we must first welcome back the Spirit of the Lord which granted us those freedoms. That begins in our individual hearts, homes, and churches. The church must first shine the light of liberty based on the foundation of truth. It was upon that foundation our nation was built. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case in America.
If we want to see freedom and liberty in our land again, we must recognize that our freedoms and liberties were granted to us by a Supreme Being. In light of the fact, we must recognize that the hour is late and we have much work to do.
