He was a distant fourth in Rasmussen’s poll of likely voters this morning, but there’s no way the “Paul surge!” meme is going to die that easily. New fuel for the fire today from Iowa State: A poll of almost 1,000 Iowa registered Republicans has him just above 20 percent, four points better than Romney and just four points back of a guy whose own supporters have taken to dumping him as unelectable on national TV. As Cain fades a bit, Newt starts to come on strong, and Perry gets his second wind, there’s at least a chance here of a five-way split that would let Paul squeak to victory with, say, 25 percent. Look out, fiat money!

Nigel Farage needs no introduction: the famous Euroskeptic is one of very few men who has had the temerity to question, often in an abnormally high decibel fashion, the stupidity of the Eurozone leaders from day one. Now that he has been proven correct, he has every right to gloat, which he does to everyone’s delightful amusement in the European parliament. The look on the unelected von Rompuy’s face, especially as he watches his decade-long bureaucratic nirvana crash and burn every single day, is quite priceless.

Rick Perry: Last, Best Hope to Fight Washington, D.C. Corruption (Col Sellin) | The Post & Email

November 17, 2011 Leave a comment

Addressing the corrupt status quo

Admittedly, I am distrustful of politicians and skeptical regarding the promises they make.

Despite these reservations, Texas Governor Rick Perry is the only Presidential candidate who has thus far addressed the corruption issue as a major part of his campaign platform.

Perry’s proposals include:

Members of Congress are too entrenched in Washington, out-of-touch, and frankly do little to actually benefit the American people while they are in session. Work to establish a part-time, Citizen Congress, cut congressional pay in half and repeal the rules that prevent members of Congress from holding real jobs in their home states and communities.

Criminalize insider trading by members of Congress.

Congressional office budgets have doubled since 2000. Freeze federal civilian hiring and salaries until the budget is balanced.

End lifetime appointments of federal judges by instituting an 18-year term limit.

Ethics: As Democrats demonize Wall Street CEOs as the “greedy” fiends of the financial crisis, they’ve lined their own pockets — both before and after the crisis. Nancy Pelosi‘s just the latest example.

The former House speaker allegedly gamed financial reforms to boost her personal stock portfolio. The brewing scandal is complicated, but here’s the Reader’s Digest version:

After a Pelosi staffer left to lobby on behalf of credit-card giant Visa, Pelosi delayed bringing to the House floor a bill to end lucrative “swipe fees” for Visa and other credit providers.

As reports started coming out on Wednesday on the search for White House shooting suspect Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, one common detail was mentioned, including in The New York Times: “Late on Friday, the police searched the Occupy DC protest camp…after reports that the suspect might have spent time there.” NBC, ABC, and CBS left that fact out of their evening and morning coverage of his arrest.

CNN on Tuesday was thrilled with the idea that Occupy D.C. had “rules and regulations,” including registration of all protesters. Anchor Brooke Baldwin excitedly proclaimed: “This is what you actually have to fill out if you want to occupy D.C….you have your name, you have your emergency contact information…you have to sign ‘I won’t carry weapons, I won’t vandalize property, and I’ll respect quiet hours between 11 at night and 7 in the morning.’”

Occupy epidemic! Brace yourself for United States of Chaos

November 17, 2011 Leave a comment

The Occupy movement is set to launch nationwide chaos today as part of a new, revolutionary phase of the anti-capitalist campaign.

The New York division aims to deploy a “three-course meal” of so-called direct action that apparently includes the blocking of subways and bridges as well as shutting down the stock market, as WND was first to report earlier this week.

Such confrontational tactics are now set for cities across the U.S.

Occupy Pittsburgh says it will march to the city’s Greenfield Bridge while Occupy sites around the country call for similar bridge- and transportation-blocking actions.

Red Army: The Radical Network that must be defeated to save America” exposes the extremists behind Occupy Wall Street

In a signal the movement may be entering a more violent phase, Occupy Wall Street unveiled a new website titled Occupy Revolution to serve as a central hub for planning revolutionary tactics.

In light of the new threats, the New York Police Department yesterday cleared Occupy’s Zuccotti Park headquarters, with a judge upholding a ban on protesters returning with tents, bedrolls or any material that can be used to create a new encampment.

Establishment Republican presidential contender Herman Cain asked Rockefeller globalist Henry Kissinger to join his administration, but the aging former Secretary of State turned down the former Kansas City Federal Reserve director.

Dr. Kissinger turned down my offer to be secretary of state,” Cain told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an interview. “He said he’s perfectly happy doing what he’s doing.”

Kissinger and Cain do breakfast: “Just two guys rapping about foreign policy.”

Sensing that many voters might not like the idea of Kissinger serving in a Cain administration, his spokesman later said Cain didn’t actually ask Kissinger, reports Yahoo News. J.D. Gordon said his boss was sleep deprived during the interview with the Milwaukee newspaper.

Despite the flip-flop and lame excuse, Cain and Kissinger have met frequently in the past to talk foreign policy. Cain has listed Kissinger is one of his key foreign policy influences.

Demonstrating that a Cain administration would be almost identical to a Bush administration, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza said he also admires the neocon John Bolton. In addition, he has his eye on South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan.

Kissinger previously supported Barry Obama. Easily tricked Democrats now gripe about the fact Obama’s foreign policy is an extension of George W. Bush’s foreign policy.

With just about a year to ago until Election Day, the U.S. is a racially divided nation when it comes to President Barack Obama.

Consider this: A new CNN/Opinion Research Poll shows 61% of whites disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job vs. 36% who don’t – that’s almost two-to-one. For non-whites, it’s almost the mirror image. Only 32% disapprove while 67% approve.

For a president who was supposed to symbolize a post-racial America, this is not good news. When Obama defeated John McCain in 2008, he did it with significant support from white Americans.

Federal officials claim that the charge is not a tax and would not yield revenue to the federal government. Regardless of the validity of the nontax claim, the image of the Christmas tree does not seem to be endangered or require a federal bailout.

RUSH: Let’s move on to the congressional super committee. Now, I want you to have audio sound bite 20 standing by. I have to admit this is a little troubling. But I’m gonna reserve some of this because it’s reported in the Drive-By State-Controlled Media. First up, the Washington Post. “Republican Super Committee Members’ Tax Plan Gives Party An Identity Crisis — Growing Republican support for raising taxes to help reduce the deficit has prompted a GOP identity crisis, sparking a clash within the party over whether to abandon its bedrock anti-tax doctrine. Tensions have mounted in recent days as two of the GOP’s most fervent anti-tax stalwarts on Capitol Hill — Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (Pa.) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (Tex.) — have lobbied party colleagues behind the scenes to forgo their old allegiances and even break campaign promises by embracing hundreds of billions of dollars in tax hikes.

“The two conservative lawmakers have pushed the increases as part of their work on the bipartisan congressional ‘super committee’ tasked with finding at least $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions by a Thanksgiving deadline. Their plan, which also addresses entitlement spending, would generate at least $300 billion in new tax revenue…” It’s what we talked about yesterday, but now the Washington Post is portraying this as these Republicans wanting to just flat-out raise taxes, and they are trying to get other Republicans in Congress to go along with it, to raise taxes. No, they want to lower rates. They’re not talking about raising tax rates. They’re talking about raising revenue, and the media is misrepresenting what they’re doing. Here’s the plan, folks — and I’m just gonna hit you between the eyes with this.

Rick Santorum on Monday accused GOP presidential rival Mitt Romney of being more liberal on gay marriage than President Barack Obama.

Santorum, a former senator from Pennsylvania, made his remarks during an interview on Laura Ingraham‘s radio show.

When Ingraham asked Romney’s stance on a proposed bill that would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), Santorum answered: “I would argue that Mitt Romney, as governor of Massachusetts, was to the left of Barack Obama on the issue of gay marriage.”

DOMA is the 1996 law that bars federal agencies and the military from recognizing the legal marriages of gay and lesbian couples.

“If you want to see the contrast, the contrast is there. [I'm a] solid conservative who fought for the federal marriage amendment as opposed to Mitt Romney, who issued gay marriage licenses and actually violated the constitution of Massachusetts to institute gay marriage in his state,” he said.

Pelosi to supercommittee Republicans: Tax the rich to avoid defense cuts By Mike Lillis – 11/17/11 12:04 PM ET

If Republicans wish to avoid defense cuts, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi warned Thursday, they should agree with Democrats to tax the rich.

The California Democrat accused Republicans of feeling more bound to the anti-tax pledge of Grover Norquist, head of the conservative Americans for Tax Reform, than to their oath to serve and defend the country.

“The sequester is what it is,” Pelosi said during a press briefing in the Capitol, referring to the $1.2 trillion in automatic cuts that would be triggered if the supercommittee fails to agree to that amount in deficit reduction over the next decade.

“There are some who think or have suggested that the oath to Mr. Norquist is more important than other oaths that members take.”

The automatic cuts would be split between defense and domestic programs. A number of leading Republicans, as well as Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, have warned that Pentagon cuts of such magnitude would cripple the country’s defense capabilities.

Pelosi on Thursday said Democrats are no less concerned with the nation’s strength — both in terms of defense and domestic affairs. But the entire idea behind making the automatic cuts so unattractive, she noted, was to force the supercommittee members to make the tough choices required to reach a deal.

“The thought with sequester is that we’re all very concerned about our national defense and the strength of our country, whether it’s measuring the health and education [and] well-being of our people on one side of the sequester, and as it is measured in our military strength,” she said.

“We would rather there be a better way to do this. But if you refuse … to take one red cent from the wealthiest people in our country and the price we have to pay is the diminished defense and the diminished strength of our country, I think that something is [wrong] here. Read more…

An advertising campaign that depicts President Barack Obama kissing two male world leaders on the mouth drew a critical response from the White House on Thursday.

“The White House has a longstanding policy disapproving of the use of the president’s name and likeness for commercial purposes,” said White House Spokesman Eric Schultz.

The “Unhate” campaign for Italian clothing firm Benetton showed various world leaders kissing, including Obama lip-locked with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Venezuela‘s Hugo Chavez, a longtime Washington adversary.

The White House jealously guards Obama’s image and objected last year when a garment company transformed a picture of him, in what appeared to be one its winter coats during a trip to China, into a billboard overlooking Times Square in New York. The advert was subsequently taken down.

The location of Portland’s Terry Shrunk Plaza accounts for why FPS officers may have participated in the arrests, since the jurisdiction of the plaza is shared by both local and federal authorities, according to Rick Ellis, writing for the Examiner.

The Imaginarium of Barack Obama

The presidency of Barack Obama is full of funny things that need not follow any sort of logic. Images and ideas just pop in and out, without worry of inconsistency, contradiction, or hypocrisy. It’s a fascinating mish-mash of strange heroes and bogeymen, this imaginarium of our president.

In the imaginarium there are no revolving doors, earmarks, or lobbyists. So Peter Orszag did not go from being OMB director to a Citigroup fat-cat. Once chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel did not make $16 million for his well-known banking expertise. The Revolt of the Generals Against Iran War

November 17, 2011 Leave a comment

In addition to the exclusive EIR interview with former CENTCOM commander, Gen. Joseph P. Hoar (USMC-ret.), other military voices are being raised against the danger of general war, posed by the threat of an Israeli or U.S. attack on Iran.

On Nov. 14, General John H. Johns, a retired Army officer who is a signator on the Human Rights First letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid warning against the police-state measures in the new defense bill, wrote an op-ed published in the New York Times, titled “Before We Bomb Iran, Let’s Have a Serious Conversation.” In the article, General Johns cites former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, retired Marine General Anthony Zinni, another former CENTCOM commander, and former Congressman, Admiral Joe Sestak, all warning about the “unintended consequences” of any attack on Iran.

“While rhetoric about military strikes may work as an applause line in Republican debates, there is little or no chance that military action would be quite so simple. Quite the contrary. Defense leaders agree that the military option would likely result in serious unintended consequences,” the general warned…..

LaRouche: To Stop World War III, Obama Must be Removed from Office Now ~ “In addition to these impeachable crimes, President Obama is clinically insane, and should be immediately removed…”

November 17, 2011 6 comments

In addition to these impeachable crimes, President Obama is clinically insane, and should be immediately removed from office under Section IV of the 25th Amendment, which provides for the orderly removal of a President who is physically or mentally unfit to continue to serve.

If a few people in positions of authority step up to the plate and demand action along these lines, this will already weaken Obama and greatly reduce the immediate danger of world war. This is the true measure of patriotism today.

After reports as far back as 1998 surfaced and revealed that the TSA’s X-ray scanners could be causing around100 cases of cancer per year conservatively, the TSA announced that it would be launching an ‘independent’ study over the safety of the machines.

During a senate hearing following the explosive nature of the report, TSA administrator John Pistole agreed to a request by Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine to examine the health effects of the TSA x-ray scanners by commissioning an independent study.

Puppet Masters — Sott.net

What happens when a government builds a massive, unaccountable police apparatus to thwart infiltration by a foreign menace, only to see the society it’s supposed to protect take to the streets for entirely different reasons?

It looks as though we may be about to find out. The Occupy protests have been mostly peaceful, with a few fairly dramatic exceptions. But the sight of a huge police presence in riot gear is always startling, and tactics that have been honed in Europe (such as “kettling“) against anarchist actions have not been as common in the United States as elsewhere. More standard forms of crowd control, such as the aggressive use of pepper spray and “rubber” bullets have so far been the outer limits of the police use of force. But it is hardly the outer limits of the possibilities.

Prison Planet.com » Russian General Warns Of ‘Large Scale War Involving Nuclear Weapons’

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Russia’s top military commander warned on Thursday of a growing threat of conflicts along its borders that could even escalate into a nuclear war.

“The possibility of local armed conflicts along nearly the whole border has increased sharply,” General Nikolai Makarov said, citing the fact that many of the country’s Soviet partners are gravitating towards Nato.

The Baltic states and Eastern European countries in the Soviet-era Warsaw Pact defence treaty have already joined, while Georgia and Ukraine have expressed a desire to join the Western defence alliance that was once the menace of USSR and is still considered Russia’s enemy by conservatives.

“In certain conditions I don’t rule out local and regional armed conflicts developing into a large-scale war, including using nuclear weapons,” Makarov said, RIA Novosti reported. Read more…

LaRouche: To Stop World War III, Obama Must be Removed from Office Now

November 17, 2011 3 comments

Lyndon LaRouche issued the following statement this afternoon:

If Barack Obama is not thrown out of office soon, civilization is in mortal danger. The British Monarchy is out to destroy the United States as we know it, and Obama is their puppet instrument for accomplishing exactly that. The overall objective of this London-centered oligarchy is to reduce the world’s present population from the current official level of seven billion to less than one billion.

That is the issue that can no longer be dodged, if mankind is to survive the coming weeks and months. The present drive for World War III, beginning with the targeting of Iran and Syria, is driven by the British committment to wipe out more than 80 percent of the human race, just as Prince Philip has demanded on numerous public occasions. Anyone who tries to deny this reality is endangering mankind by their failure to face the truth.

Dear Leader Pelosi,

After reading about House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s outburst over my “Overhauling Washington” plan, I wonder if his obstructionism reflects your own opposition and that of the Democratic Caucus to urgent reforms the American people so vehemently demand.

After increasing the debt by $4 trillion in less than three years, no one can believe that Americans are satisfied with business as usual, and that a permanent political class in Washington can get us out of the mess you and your colleagues have created.

A part-time Congress with half the pay would still make $38,000 a year more than the average American family. Do you truly oppose lawmakers spending more time in their districts? Is it so important for the Washington power brokers to build their fiefdoms of influence, including providing bailouts to Wall Street while businesses on Main Street are being boarded up every day?

When did the Presidents wife, known for nothing other than servicing the President, (except Mrs. Clinton), become anything other than a White House tour guide, a la Jackie Kennedy?

When is the Congress going to cut off all project funds these unelected concubines seek to steal from the American taxpayer? If the position of First Lady is anything requiring the spending of one dime, they should have to run for it separately and it should not just automatically be the Presidents wife.

Newt Gingrich, piñata. Expect it — now that Gingrich is enjoying rough parity with Mitt Romney and Herman Cain in the polls. Expect Gingrich to start taking whacks from his GOP competitors and their allies. What’s curious is if the left and fossil media join in the Newt-whacking now or wait.

Gingrich is also starting to enjoy some good ink from conservative writers. Ed Morrissey opines at The Week that Gingrich is the real deal. Jeffrey Lord, writing yesterday at The American Spectator, floats the notion that the former Speaker might be an American Churchill.

Jonah Goldberg pens a more measured assessment of Gingrich’s upswing at National Review Online. While Goldberg acknowledges “this could be Gingrich’s moment,” he also writes:

It’s an open question whether Gingrich can defeat Obama in 2012. It’s taken as a truism that he has “too much baggage.” Well, some of the baggage is lighter than it appears. He was cleared by the Clinton-era Internal Revenue Service of wrongdoing in alleged ethics violations stemming from a college course he taught in the 1990s. The charge that he surprised his cancer-stricken first wife with divorce papers has been, at the least, exaggerated.

Retired Military Officers Oppose Obama’s Police-State Measures — Puppet Masters — Sott.net

November 17, 2011 1 comment

According to an Oct. 19 article in the North Carolina News & Observer, written by associates of Human Rights First, more than 20 retired U.S. Generals and Admirals have written to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and to the chairman and ranking Senator of the Armed Services Committee, to demand the removal of police-state “anti-terrorism” measures from the 2012 Defense Authorization Act.

Authors J. Adam Abram and Alston Gardner write, “The 666-page National Defense Authorization Act being considered by the Senate contains at least two provisions that are simply not consistent with American values…. Section 1031 of the act permits indefinite military detention of American citizens, without charge or trial, if those citizens are accused of supporting or being members of or supporting an affiliate of al-Qaeda.”

Most citizens are completely unaware of the dangerous measures in the bill, especially since the committee debate in June 2011 was held behind closed doors. Now, the article warns, “a minority of senators is trying to rush the entire bill to the floor, using the excuse that we ‘must fund the military.’”

Among the signers of the letter to the Senate are retired officers who also fought against the Bush/Cheney/Obama torture policy, including:

Gov. Perry challenges Pelosi to a debate (Pelosi to respond at today’s morning press conference)

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has challenged the women conservatives love to hate — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — to a public debate next week.

In a letter obtained by The Hill, Perry requested that the pair meet for a debate during Perry’s visit to Washington next week to compare the plan he rolled out this week to “Uproot and Overhaul Washington” with the current system.

“I think it would be a tremendous service to the American public to see a public airing of those differences,” he wrote. “Let the people decide.”

Perry’s challenge comes just days after his roll out of his plan to reform Washington. A central piece of his plan is a part-time Congress with half the salary and office budgets.

Chuck Baldwin — I Am Now A Candidate For Montana Lieutenant Governor

Some are asking me why I, as the Constitution Party (CP) candidate for President in 2008, would run in a State race as a Republican. The motto of the CP is “Principle Over Politics.” For example, in 2008, the Montana State Constitution Party put a Republican, Ron Paul, on their Presidential ballot. So, there is certainly precedence for a constitutionalist running as a Republican in the State of Montana.

Never in my life have the kingdom of man and the Kingdom of God been so starkly exposed. In today’s culture, with the elimination of Jesus and His moral law, our allegiance to man made laws reigns supreme. As we survey the culture we come to the realization that we have falsely substituted “legal” for “moral.” What is legally right is not always morally right.

But it is the mixing of the two that has made right and wrong so fuzzy in this who-are-you-to-judge-culture.

Jon Christian Ryter — FDA, Texas Medical Board Fights to Kill Cancer Cure

November 17, 2011 Leave a comment

When the FDA and the Texas Medical Board went after Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski in 1996, Sgt. Rick Schiff, an 11 year veteran of the Tampa Police Dept. testified before a US Congressional hearing on Feb. 29, 1996 about losing one twin daughter to a highly malignant brain tumor that traveled throughout her brain and spine.

Doctors said they had two options: take her home and let her die, or use massive doses of chemo and radiation simultaneously. In either event she was going to die—and very quickly. The Schiffs agreed to the therapy. Six months later, she was still alive—and still dying of cancer. Schiff and his wife began digging for alternatives. They found Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski.

The Economic Collapse

November 17, 2011

Right now, we are watching the early rounds of a heavyweight fight between two extremely determined opponents. Occupy Wall Street has no plans of losing this fight and neither do law enforcement authorities. Perhaps those running the show actually believed that raiding Zuccotti Park and more than a dozen other “Occupy camps” around the nation would end these protests, but that is just not going to happen. Whatever your opinion of Occupy Wall Street is, everyone should be able to agree that this is one dedicated bunch. They are absolutely obsessed with their cause and in response to the recent raid on Zuccotti Park organizers are calling for “a national day of direct action” on Thursday.

Sixty percent of people arrested for Islamic terrorist activities between January 2009 and April 2011 were American citizens, according to a new report from Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. The study of 104 people who were arrested included U.S. and non-U.S. citizens living in America or abroad.

The report, “Analyzing the Islamic Extremist Phenomenon in the United States: A Study of Recent Activity,” was authored by Joan Neuhaus Schaan, fellow in homeland security at the Baker Institute. Jessica Phillips, an intern with the Baker Institute’s homeland security and terrorism program, provided research support for the study.
