Gunny G: What Would Chesty Puller Do?

We live in extraordinary times. Often we hear people say, or write, what would so-and-so do in this or that case?

True, the Chesty Pullers, the George Pattons, MacArthurs, Smedley Butlers, Curt LeMays, Evans Carlsons, etc. are no longer with us. But are men of like courage now gone altogether? God knows, it would be very difficult for such men to even get a toe-hold in today’s pc world.

But, who knows, perhaps they are out there somewhere, just biding their time, waiting for the right time, the right place, the right situation–we’ll see won’t we.

The following article is about one of these non-pc individuals.

SYDNEY (AP) — Police in Sydney may be close to unraveling the mystery of a man who left a lot of dough at an upscale pizzeria and cafe — nearly 1 million Australian dollars ($1 million).

Police say a man wearing shorts and a tank top left a suitcase at Cafe Marco on Tuesday morning. Staff at first thought it might contain a bomb but it turned out to be stuffed with 50-dollar notes.

Until recently, few people gave much thought to senescent cells. They are cells that linger in the body even after they have lost the ability to divide.

But on Nov. 2, in what could be a landmark experiment in the study of aging, researchers at the Mayo Clinic reported that if you purge the body of its senescent cells, the tissues remain youthful and vigorous.

The experiment was just in mice, and it cleared the cells with a genetic technique that cannot be applied to people. Like all critical experiments, it needs to be repeated in other labs before it can be accepted with confidence.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) – Police in Bellingham, Wash., say a 10-year-old boy defended his mother from an attacker by shooting him in the face with a BB rifle as many as four times.

The man accused of the attack rents a room in the woman’s home and came home drunk and angry Tuesday morning. Police say he kicked in a bedroom door and started choking the woman.

A Bloomberg News poll shows Ron Paul locked in a four-way statistical tie for first place among Iowa Republicans — 20 percent for Herman Cain, 19 percent for Paul, 18 percent for Mitt Romney and 17 percent for Newt Gingrich.

CBS comes to tis senses and admits Ron Paul’s popularity in the polls.

Meanwhile, an Iowa State-Gazette-KCRG poll places Paul five points behind Cain and a New Hampshire poll shows Paul tied with Newt Gingrich for second place behind establishment candidate Mitt Romney.

If elected to the White House, former speaker of the House and history professor Newt Gingrich wants to teach Americans a lesson — that is, for free on the Internet about his policy views. The self-proclaimed “ideas man” said on Monday his course would be distributed on the Web in a format similar to the University of Phoenix or Kaplan.

“I think I will probably teach a course when I’m president,” Gingrich told students and supporters after a campaign speech on entitlement reform at Saint Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics.

Today marks the 48th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The slain president’s wife, his successor, and the liberal media blamed the murder on Dallas’ “climate of hate.” That smear cast a pall on the innocent citizens of that city for decades. I know, because I grew up in the shadow of Big D and in the shadow of Kennedy’s killing. For decades after Nov. 22, 1963, you could go anywhere in the country, tell anyone you were from Dallas, and if you spent enough time with that person, Kennedy’s assassination would inevitably come up.

Frank Rich chose to mark the 48th anniversary by smearing Dallas, again, and by extension conservatives of the present. It’s a column which should get him ridiculed and fired; no one who is so irresponsible with the hard facts of life has any place in the commentariat.The title gives Rich’s game away. It’s “What Killed JFK?” not “Who Killed JFK?” as it should be. A “what” is much easier to abstract, isolate, and attack than a “who” who had inconvenient opinions and motivations, and a madness to move.

Gay rights advocates lobby to legitimize behavior that is contrary to God’s will, rather than loving their neighbor enough to lead them back to the Lord. Prior to the fall of the Soviet Union, soviet sympathizers used their influence to promote socialism and in several instances, used their positions to steal sensitive information and forward it to soviet agents. What they did not know, however, was that although the Soviets used the information, they actually reviled the sympathizers as traitors.

The Justice Department withheld records about Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan’s role in healthcare reform, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said Tuesday.

Smith pressed Attorney General Eric Holder to provide documents and witnesses about Kagan’s time as solicitor general and her role in preparing to defend President Obama’s healthcare reform law in court. Republicans have clamored for Kagan to recuse herself when the Supreme Court takes up a case challenging the law.

The Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday downgraded its estimate of the benefits of President Obama’s 2009 stimulus package, saying it may have sustained as few as 700,000 jobs at its peak last year and that over the long run it will actually be a net drag on the economy.

CBO said that while the Recovery Act boosted the economy in the short run, the extra debt that the stimulus piled up “crowds out” private investment and “will reduce output slightly in the long run — by between 0 and 0.2 percent after 2016.”

In 1920, Adolf Hitler formed the Youth League of the National Socialist Workers’ Party. In 1922, a new youth organization emerged that eventually became known as Hitler Youth. It targeted boys ages 14-18. Eventually a second group was formed for boys ages 10-14 and a girls’ organization that covered ages 10-18. The goal of the Youth organizations was to indoctrinate the next generation of leaders to help insure the success for the Nazi Party.

From 1922 to 1945, the Hitler Youth saw thousands of teenaged kids turning in their parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins and friends, the government for speaking out against Hitler and his Nazi rule. Thousands of people were imprisoned, beaten and even executed. They turned in their neighbors and school mates who were Jewish.

Hitler Youth was so effective that ever today some of them still carry the hatred and prejudices they were taught. The father of a man I worked with was a member of the Hitler Youth. Today’s he’s in his early 80’s and he still hates Jews, Christians and blacks and believes that Hitler should have won the war.

The U. S. Constitution is clear concerning presidential candidates. They MUST be natural born citizens; Art II, Sec. 1. Minor v. Happersett and United States v. Wong Kim Ark offers additional conclusive evidence in SCOTUS opinions as to the meaning of a natural born citizen. The Constitution, our Founders, and even Nature itself teaches us that a natural born citizen is created by birth on the soil of the nation by TWO citizen parents. The one calling himself Barack H. Obama openly admits that his father NEVER was a citizen. And, we have SEEN NO CONCLUSIVE LEGAL PROOF that Barack H. Obama was born on U.S. soil!

Can you assure me as a citizen of Texas that you will properly vet ALL presidential candidates BEFORE placing them on a Texas ballot? And Arthur Berkowitz knows how long it takes to get from Anchorage to Philadelphia down to the minute. That’s because he says he had to stand for most of the flight when he returned to Philly last July.

Why would anyone stand for that long? Because he says a morbidly obese passenger seated next to him was spilling into his personal space, making it impossibly to sit in his assigned seat, and the flight was completely full.

The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights provides for the right of the people to petition their government for the redress of grievances. But is government listening or quashing the petitioners?

(Nov. 22, 2011) — In accordance with the 1st Amendment, The People have the RIGHT to peaceably assemble.

The Occupy movement has been demonized since its inception. From the very start, political elites ignored the protestations because the message was/is contrary to the desires of Congress and the Administration’s subversive goals.

When the elite discovered they could not dissuade the protestors, elitists and organizers decided to subvert, obfuscate and dilute the message. Not only did they succeed in “shouting louder” than the original protesters, they managed to stir the pot of emotions to the boiling point.

All of the cities across America are using force to get rid of this “Occupy” blight. Cities are using police force, pepper spray, water hoses, and hauling people off to jail while we Americans applaud law enforcement’s efforts at the direction of politicians who DO NOT WANT the message to be simple: America belongs to the People.

Until you get higher in the hills, Laconia might be considered the vortex of New Hampshire redneck politics, heavy into the Tea Party. The Lakes Region Tea Party is small but might be indicative of how things will go. A straw poll on Nov. 16 gave Newt Gingrich 49 percent while Cain tied with Ron Paul at 15. Romney 12 percent and Rick Perry 0. Similar results in a straw poll at a Republican club in Alabama on Saturday: Newt 45 percent, Cain 13, Paul and Romney both 11 and Perry 3. Interesting because Perry first gave national credence to the Tea Party when he chanted for states’ rights at the Alamo. But with the sudden rise of Newt, the consummate Washington insider, the Tea Party is no longer really about states’ rights and specific issues. It’s about passion.

When the 2012 Republican nominating contest was getting underway earlier this year, it was widely predicted (I predicted it myself) that the race would eventually come down to a contest between an establishment candidate like Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty, and a Tea Party candidate more appealing to the party’s base. It seemed perfectly reasonable at the time; after all, the Tea Party had energized the GOP and propelled it to the historic 2010 congressional election victory.

San Francisco – In a victory for fair use, the publisher of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Stephens Media, filed papers yesterday conceding that posting a short excerpt of a news article in an online forum is not copyright infringement. The concession will result in entry of a judgment of non-infringement in a long-running copyright troll case that sparked the dismissal of dozens of baseless lawsuits filed by Righthaven LLC.

The case began when the online political forum Democratic Underground — represented by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), Fenwick & West LLP, and attorney Chad Bowers — was sued by Righthaven for a five-sentence excerpt of a Review-Journal news story that a user posted on the forum with a link back to the newspaper’s website. Democratic Underground countersued, asking the court to rule that the excerpt did not infringe copyright and is a fair use of the material, and brought Righthaven-backer Stephens Media into the case.

The Court dismissed Righthaven’s infringement case because it did not own the article, but Democratic Underground’s counterclaim against Stephens Media continued. After initially attempting to defend the bogus assertion of copyright infringement, Stephens Media has now conceded it was incorrect.

A retired New York City police officer living in Florida has been ordered to take down his flag commemorating September 11 by his homeowners’ association, WPLG reports.

Richard Wentz, who helped victims out of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, has been told he has just days to take down his flag or face possible legal action.

“That flag means the world to me. Other than my children, that flag means the world to me,” said Wentz.

A letter from the Fairways at Heron Bay association said the flag detracts from the aesthetic harmony of the surrounding properties. Wentz said he was confronted by Patricia Favata, president of the property’s board of directors, according to the station.

No one was at Favata’s home when WPLG Local 10 tried to talk to her.

Indeed, the DCCC is now raising money off that recent report of a GOP-connected corporate lobbying firm’s proposed smear campaign against the movement. This is a difficult age in which to be a conservative.

While the national executive branch remains in the clutches of a radical administration that daily flaunts the Constitution, producing an equal and opposite reaction in an electorate that practically salivates at the opportunity to throw them out, the Republican Party’s primary process seems bound and determined to produce a challenger far less aggressive then the people desire.

Conservatives have therefore spent months agonizing, as they search for – pray for – some way to nominate a candidate who is up to the needs of the time, and worthy of the public mood. Conservatives are concerned that we may indeed allow the greatest opportunity for a prompt return to Constitutional government to slip through our fingers, in the selection of a typical Republican nominee, rather than the mighty leviathan-tamer that the times require.

And it is true that in a year like 2012 is expected to be, to nominate anyone less than a candidate sharing the philosophy and temperament of the Framers will be a severe mistake.

But suppose that it happens. Suppose, just suppose, that when the dust clears from the suicidally-designed Republican presidential primary calendar, rather than a Constitutionalist like Sen. Rick Santorum or Rep. Michelle Bachmann, the nominee is someone decidedly more liberal – for a Republican – such as Gov. Mitt Romney or Speaker Newt Gingrich. Would that really be so bad?

In two television interviews conducted with Barack Obama when he was a candidate for U.S. Senate, the then-Illinois state representative exhibited some of the liberal tendencies Americans have come to recognize in his presidency, along with statements that seem at odds with his later policy decisions and criticisms of the George W. Bush administration for budget deficits and foreign oil prices far milder than those over which Obama now presides.

“Chicago Tonight,” a production of WTTW-TV11 in Chicago, conducted the interviews in 2003 and2004. The videos were first made publicly available on YouTube Friday and Saturday. At the time of the 2003 appearance, Obama was a recent entrant into the Democratic primary race to replace the retiring Sen. Peter Fitzgerald. By the 2004 interview, Obama had already won a landslide primary victory and was just entering the general election season.

On the first tape, Obama addressed “economic security,” a theme that later followed him to the White House. Illinoisans, he said, were “trying to figure out, ‘What am I going to do about the potential layoff? How am I going to pay for my retirement?’”

But then, as now, Obama resisted the idea that cutting taxes on businesses creates American jobs.

Host Phil Ponce asked Obama to judge the argument that “tax cuts will spur investment in companies, spur the creation of jobs, and therefore benefit people who need work.”

“I have not seen a credible economist,” Obama replied, “who said that providing — eliminating taxation on dividends, for example — is going to provide any sort of economic stimulus.”

Ponce was asking about taxes on corporate income, not on investment dividends. He pressed Obama, asking if tax cuts would “increase investment in corporations, and allow them to expand their businesses and so forth?”

(Nov. 22, 2011) — The man known as Barack Hussein Obama II will be in the Granite State today following a meeting last Friday, November 18, of the New Hampshire Ballot Law Commission at which Atty. Orly Taitz presented evidence that he is not eligible to be placed on ballots and may be guilty of fraud and forgery. Taitz stated in her complaint that Obama is using a social security number which was never assigned to him through legal means.

Obama is scheduled to visit Central High School in Nashua, a city close to the Massachusetts border, and is expected to talk about his proposed “jobs” bill. Obama won the majority of votes in New Hampshire in 2008, although the mainstream press is now calling voters there “skeptical.” The same article is reproduced in various newspapers on the topic, although The Modesto Bee had an original report, as did Bloomberg News.

On each an every issue, ranging from Wall’s Street’s ownership of the political class, to the nation’s descent into fascism, the destruction of individual rights and constitutional protection, the corruption of the two-party monopoly, Ventura states the hard-hitting truth that one rarely encounters in the fog of the MSM. Likewise for the current crop of presidential candidates and the constant stream of lies that spews forth from the government continually. The exception, of course, is Ron Paul. Jesse is in complete accord with Ron’s goals of auditing the Fed, closing foreign military bases and bringing all the troops home. Indeed he truly wants Ron to run as an independent or third party candidate in 2012, and hopes that movement gains momentum.

It seems no longer possible to seek the redress of grievances by petitioning Congress or expect its members to uphold the Constitution and champion equal treatment under the law.

The US Congress is dominated by incompetence, ambition and avarice. It has made itself a tyrant and has become a danger to the survival of the republic.

The Declaration of Independence states:

“Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…”

Ordinary Americans are feeling disenfranchised and helpless by politicians practicing elective despotism.

By its actions, the corrupt permanent political class is leaving the American people no other option than outright rebellion to take back our government.

Speak, memory: Norman Gray, the late city editor of the Boston Traveler, which was the afternoon publication of the Boston Herald, asked me to drop by the Statler Hilton, now the Park Plaza Hotel, on my way to the office from the Statehouse Press Gallery, to check out a Boston bankers’ convention.

The guest speaker was the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., and there might be some news. I was a new reporter only seven months into the job, so I relished the added assignment.

It was Nov. 22, 1963, 48 years ago today.

He gave them his plan to cut the budget while spending more. He’s rigidly sticking with it, which is principled. And both sides in Congress are rigidly sticking with their plans, which is stubborn. Except, come to think of it, there wasn’t a real Democratic plan. All they did was not like the Republican ones.

BELLEVUE, WA — The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of California’s ban on so-called “assault weapons,” claiming that the statute is “vague and ambiguous” in its definition of assault weapons, leading to the arrest of a California man on two different occasions.

SAF is joined in the lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, by the CalGuns Foundation and Brendan John Richards, an honorably-discharged Marine and Iraq war veteran, who was arrested and jailed in May 2010 and August 2011. On both occasions, charges against Richards were dismissed when it was determined that he had not violated the law because firearms in his possession on both occasions were not “assault weapons” as defined by California law. They are represented by attorneys Donald Kilmer of San Jose and Jason A. Davis of Mission Viejo.

Named as defendants in the lawsuit are California Attorney General Kamala Harris, the California Department of Justice, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Greg Myers.

“It’s an insult to be arrested once for violating a law that is so vague and ambiguous that law enforcement officers cannot tell the difference between what is and what is not a legal firearm under this statute,” said SAF Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “but to be arrested and jailed twice for the same offense is an outrage. Brendan Richards’ dilemma is a textbook example of why the California statute should be nullified.

As the T.S.A. observes its 10th anniversary, it also faces lawsuits over the legality of its passenger searches, growing scrutiny of the cost-effectiveness of its screening measures, questions about security lapses and complaints that some agents continue to make travelers feel humiliated or harassed.

At a Senate Commerce Committee oversight hearing about the agency in early November, Senator Claire McCaskill, Democrat of Missouri, described her own discomfort with a particular agent at a St. Louis airport and expressed sympathy for passengers who complain.

“When you have the traveling public tell you that sometimes these pat-downs are unacceptable, trust me, they are not exaggerating,” Senator McCaskill said. “There are many times that women put hands on me in a way that if it was your daughter or your sister or your wife you would be upset.”

Some twenty years ago, there was a rough-looking man who used to frequent the Mississippi bars where I once made my living playing music in acoustic duos and trios. I remember him because he always stood in the back and applauded enthusiastically. He would even shout out words of encouragement in between requests. I remember that he liked the Allman Brothers and wished we would play more of their songs.

It is likely that I first met him in 1991. But I didn’t know anything about him until 1993. That was when my singer pointed him out and said he was a heroin addict who was slowly killing himself with his addiction. She said it was a shame that he so rarely made it out anymore. She claimed that he was the best singer she had ever heard. But I had never heard him sing. I only heard him say nice things to the people who sang for him.

One night in July of 1993, I was setting up to play for the very last time in the bar where I had played my first professional gig. The heroin addict with the hidden talent showed up and started drinking before we even started playing. I told him I was going to invite him up to the stage to sing a song before the night was over. He kept drinking and I kept my promise. I’m glad I did.

Ever since the Department of Justice’s gun-running operation known as Fast and Furious became public, the Obama administration’s response has been slow and infuriating. Of particular concern is Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.’s lack of candor concerning what he knew and when he knew it.

This is not a typical case of bureaucratic bungling. A 40-year-old Border Patrol agent, Brian Terry, and possibly a U.S. immigration agent, are dead because of a horribly ill-conceived Justice Department operation that went tragically wrong.

Hundreds of Fast and Furious firearms have been implicated in criminal activity, and another 1,400 firearms are on the street because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives engaged in gun-walking – the selling of firearms to straw purchasers in an attempt to locate major weapons traffickers in Mexico. This controversial tactic, involving thousands of weapons, means that brave law enforcement personnel along the border remain at risk.

As details come to light, a larger shadow has been cast on Mr. Holder. When initially asked under oath to say when he first knew about Fast and Furious, Mr. Holder told the House Judiciary Committee on May 3, “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.”
