Silver doesn’t quite go so far as to say that it makes a brokered convention or a late-breaking establishment candidate likely, but I’m willing to go that far. There’s just no way the Republican establishment lets Gingrich become their nominee. As Andrew Sullivan pointed out today, you’re already seeing the anti-Gingrich mobilization among conservative thought leaders: Here’s George Will, Charles Krauthammer, David Brooks, Ross Douthat, Tom Coburn and Ann Coulter, just for starters. There’s this Politico story about all the Washington Republicans who hate Gingrich.

It’s always good to end a week on a high note. Here’s a high note, to be sure:

A constitutional amendment to switch California’s Legislature to a part-time body meeting about three months a year is proposed. …

You can pretty much trace the state’s problems to the four-decade history of its full-time Legislature. Coincidence? I think not.

Rick Perry is waaaaaaaaay behind in polls everywhere, so he’s literally throwing a Hail Mary pass to Iowa’s conservative evangelical Christian community with a new TV ad that is getting pounded across the political spectrum — and even from within Perry’s campaign — for its anti-gay message.

“I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian,” Perry says in the ad currently in heavy rotation in Iowa. “But you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know that there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military, but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.

“As President, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion, and I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.

Top GOP strategist Steve Schmidt — who ran both John McCain’s 2008 prez campaign and CA Guv Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 2006 re-elect — called the ad “despicable,” . . .

For those who have not taken the time, I highly recommend you watch the two 10-minute clips of Gerald Celente – someone who has been forecasting trends for decades. His predictions have been right on point and time over the years. Unfortunately, he just got burned (six figures) by the MF Global implosion…..I know he owns gold and I’m betting right about now he sorely regrets not putting all the paper into precious metals. What Gerald says, tragically, is the truth.

Nothing has changed from November 2010. The unconstitutional cabinets and agencies continue to bleed us dry while the political animals in the Outlaw Congress bicker with each other:

Nearly $1M in federal funds for ‘Diary of a Single Mom

U.S. Spends $10 Mil To Combat Child Labor In Ethiopia

Medicare has spent quarter billion in taxpayer cash on penis pumps

Congress Tees Up Year-End Spending Spree

Gitmo Costs $800K/Year Per Detainee (That’s eight hundred thousand dollars x 171 detainees that has to be borrowed with the interest slapped on our backs, our children and grand children). Eight hundred thousand bux per body year after year. For what? Try them; if found guilty throw them to the SuperMax Facility in Colorado. Innocent of charges, deport them back to country of origin. Oh, no, better to continue the madness.

In January of this year, the Daily Mail reported what was, to some at least, an alarming trend of “secretively prepared” halal meat (the meat of animals ritualistically slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law) being served in “Britain’s most popular sporting venues, pubs, schools, and hospitals without the public’s knowledge.” So prevalently was this tactic employed that some schoolchildren had no non-halal choices beyond a “vegetarian option.” Once the public was made aware of this fact, Britons began voicing their concerns over the practice. Animal rights activists opposed it because “research suggests that animals can die a slow painful death” as a result of the bleeding halal requires, primarily because the animals are often not stunned prior to the act. Others, however, had a more religious objection. Over 10,000 Christians signed a petition that called for proper labeling, citing “reservations about eating meat from animals that are bled to death while an Islamic prayer is recited.” Church official Alison Ruoff suggested that “there is a lot of fear about upsetting Muslims but as Christians you have to stand up for Christian values. Because we are unwittingly eating halal meat, we are spreading the practice of sharia law.”

Gingrich is right in this. PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein said this in 1977: The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism.

Congress (Approval 13%) – America’s Legalized Criminal Institution

A recent Gallup poll (November 2011) indicated only 13% of Americans approved

the job our Congress was doing.

Approve 13%

Disapprove 82%

No Opinion 5%

There is little doubt, given the opportunity, those 82% of Americans that disapprove of

the job Congress is doing would replace them all in a heartbeat.

There have been a lot of books detailing the corruption, arrogance, and incompetence of

our Congress. All those books suggest the 82% disapproval rate is well deserved. Read

any of the following books and if you are in the 13% or 5% percent category you will

quickly join the 82% disapproval category.

Barack Obama’s speech in Osawatomie, Kansas, has certainly made waves. Well-received by the mainstream media, The Baltimore Sun wrote that the President has finally found “his voice” while the ever-dour Bill Press said that Obama was “channeling Teddy Roosevelt.” Yet if talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is correct, the President was channeling someone also long-dead but a lot more red. The radio giant asserts that Obama has “outed” himself, in that he has “announced to the world in no uncertain terms that he is a socialist, if not a Marxist.”

What did Obama say that brought cheers from the Left and jeers from the Right? Among other things, he stated that our relatively free enterprise system not only “doesn’t work” — “it has never worked.”

…So our system shouldn’t be on trial here — Obama should be. But is it really fair to suggest he may be a Marxist? Or was there evidence for it all along?

RUSH: Folks, do you remember the liberal outrage over George W. Bush saying after 9/11, “You’re either with us or you’re against us,” and “We’re gonna get Bin Laden, we’re gonna get Bin Laden dead or alive.” Do you remember how the left had a panic over that, just like they had a panic over Reagan winning the presidency? Panicked over Reagan’s finger poised next to the nuclear button. Well, how about what Obama is doing? “Obama on Thursday forcefully rejected Republican accusations that his foreign policy is timid and amounts to a policy of ‘appeasement.’ ‘Ask Osama bin Laden and the 22 out of 30 top al-Qaida leaders who have been taken off the field whether I engage in appeasement. Or whoever is left out there, ask them about that.’”

So here’s the president of the United States, “You go ask al-Qaida, you ask Bin Laden, you ask any of these other people I’ve taken out.” Why is nobody disturbed at that lingo? Let’s go to the audio sound bites. Last night on Hardball Chris Matthews spoke with Washington Post columnist Eugene “Sugar” Robinson about Romney saying that Obama had pursued a foreign policy of appeasement. Matthews said, “To have some guy like Mitt Romney, who actually has no military experience in his family, to just come out and take a shot at him like that, and call him Neville Chamberlain with his umbrella, giving away Europe to Hitler. Do you think that Mitt Romney knew what he was saying?”

ROBINSON: There used to be an understanding that we have one foreign policy and you may agree or disagree with what the president is doing, but you don’t come out with something like that.

Prison Planet.com » Army Posts Job for “Internment Specialist” Following KBR Call for FEMA Camp Subcontractors

December 9, 2011 5 comments

Following our report on December 6 documenting KBR’s outfitting of FEMA internment camps in the United States, Business Insider posted an article entitled The US Army Now Offers A Prison Guard Specialty Securing ‘Civilian Detainees.’

“Every soldier that enlists in the Army chooses a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS),” writes Robert Johnson. “Designated by a number and a letter, the 31E MOS now includes advanced responsibilities including command and control of prisoner of war and civilian internee camps.”

The job is related to the subcontractor work announced by KBR: “Supervise and establish all administrative, logistical and food support operations, confinement/correctional, custodial, treatment, and rehabilitative activities.”

The listing is posted under “Careers & Jobs” on the GoArmy.com website. It reads in part:

Internment/Resettlement (I/R) Specialists in the Army are primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility. I/R Specialists provide rehabilitative, health, welfare, and security to U.S. military prisoners within a confinement or correctional facility; conduct inspections; prepare written reports; and coordinate activities of prisoners/internees and staff personnel.

Skrew the electric vehicles—PERIOD!!!!!

‘Twere BigBromoFo not involved at all, I might very well be of a somewhat different opinion, and American ingenuity would triumph on this too!

Way back around ‘62 or so, they began sticking their noses in our business by requiring a little PCV device in the line to carburetors. I didn’t like that, but everybody said it was no problem, only cost about 50 cents, and you could easily stick it in the line yourself, w/o assistance of a technician. Before this, they had started requiring seatbelts, padded dashes, etc.

Now I deeply resent all the pollution/electronic/environmental bs required, and the engine, etc. itself is designed around the requirements themselves and not for the best results and performance of the vehicle itself.

How nutso is that!

In addition, there is all the bs additional bells, buzzers, and whistles warning of this or that, the doors locking you in as you leave your driveway, etc.

Imagine, if you can, what great vehicles, the great gas mileage, we could have if we were free from bigbro’s requirements—but we are not, and I don’t even feel better bidging bout it anymore.

Repeal of sodomy, bestiality ban sparks fight on Defense bill

By Jeremy Herb – 12/09/11 01:53 PM ET

As the final Defense authorization bill gets hammered out in conference committee, one surprising issue is riling both social conservatives and animal rights activists: the repeal of a ban on sodomy and bestiality.

The Senate bill, which was passed last week, removed an article from the Uniform Code of Military Justice stating “unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy.”

But the article is still included in the House bill, and House Republicans want it to remain in the final bill.

News of the bestiality repeal has sparked conservative groups like the Family Research Council to warn of a “campaign to radicalize the country from the Pentagon out,” even if the intent to repeal bestiality wasn’t there. The group likened the repeal to last year’s end of the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” rule on gays serving openly in the military.

Faith of the Founding Fathers

December 9, 2011 1 comment

Since the early days of this Republic, various of our Founding Fathers were accused of being irreligious, impious, and even atheist. Those accusations are unsupportable lies told by those whose own “tolerance” of the faithful informs not only their personal agendas, but taints and twists their biographical descriptions of the Founders, as well.

Often, for example, most of the most renowned and revered of the men of the founding generation are labeled “deists.” Deism was a theological philosophy popular in the 18th century, especially among the stratum of men associated with the Enlightenment. Stated simply, a deist believes in God, but considers Him an absent master, unconcerned with the quotidian comings and goings of His earthly creations.

Every one of the Founders listed in the following survey (with the possible exception of Benjamin Franklin) would reject such an appellation and in fact never referred to themselves as deists (again, with a passing reference to himself made by Franklin).

While the men mentioned herein held different interpretations of the characteristics of God, of His Son, Jesus Christ, and of the most correct way to worship them, they unanimously and sincerely believed that God was an all-powerful Creator and providentially interceded for mankind, particularly in the quest for liberty and the freedom of conscience that permitted diversity of worship.

The speeded up footage shows the driver patiently manoeuvring his silver Honda Acura forward and back until it eventually squeezed it into the space.

If Michele Bachmann thought that The Donald would take her refusal to attend his Newmax debate on December 27th quietly, Trump made it clear this morning on Fox Business’s Don Imus show that he’s going to hold a grudge. In talking with Imus, Trump said that Bachmann discussed making him her VP pick if she won the nomination, and that he sees Bachmann’s snub as a sign of disloyalty:

CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO

Did Bachmann really discuss making Trump her running mate? I’d assume that any such discussions would have been purely speculative and non-committal, but even so, a Bachmann/Trump ticket would be a little mind-bending. Right now, Bachmann’s emphasizing her social conservative credentials in Iowa in an attempt to run to the right of both Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, and it’s a little difficult to see how that works into considering Trump as the running mate. (It’s even more difficult to see Trump actually taking a second-banana position and not embarrassing the ticket later on down the road, too, with his self-promoting antics.)

Bachmann In Iowa

That would make another good reason for the other candidates to skip a Trump-moderated debate, but it’s now looking as though there won’t be one anyway. Even the two people left on the dais for this want Trump to repudiate his assertion that he might run as an independent in the general election, which Trump tells Imus he won’t do. That will probably mean that the two committed participants might find other things to do.

The Gospel According To Wright (how much race-based “theology” does Obama really share?)

The American Spectator ^ | December 2011 – January 2012 issue | Charles C. Johnson

Posted on Friday, December 09, 2011 4:11:17 PM by Cincinatus‘ Wife

How much of Pastor Jeremiah Wright’s race-based “theology” does Barack Obama really share?

….Candidate Obama tried to dismiss his support for Wright, telling Charlie Gibson of ABC News, “It’s as if we took the five dumbest things that I ever said or you ever said…in our lives and compressed them, and put them out there, you know, I think that people’s reaction, would be understandably upset.” And rightly so. In sermon after sermon, Wright’s radical black nationalist ideas were clearly and emphatically stated. They were not an aberration, but the focal point of Pastor Wright‘s Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where Obama was an active member for 20 years.

…..Education mattered deeply to the Wrights….They enrolled him at Central High School, an all-male magnet establishment considered among the nation’s best public schools at the time. It was 90 percent white. The class yearbook announced, “Always ready with a kind word, Jerry is one of the most congenial members [of his class].” But Wright himself dismissed that period of congeniality in a later sermon. “I used to let my behavior be determined by the white world’s expectations,” he recalled ruefully.

The young Jeremiah was off to a promising start, but at age 15 was arrested for grand larceny auto theft. His parents sent him to the all-black Virginia Union University. But Wright quit after two years and joined the Marines. Wright later said he hated being educated at “black schools founded by white missionaries.” Still, during his short time at VUU he met fellow students who made a lasting impression: a young PhD student named John Kinney who had studied under both Martin Luther King, Jr., and James Cone, the founder of black liberation theology; and Samuel DeWitt Proctor, a longtime friend and mentor of King…….

EXPOSED: Obama 2012 Campaign Strategy Starts in Wisconsin! (This is bigger than just Wisconsin!)

Tea Party Express ^ | December 09, 2011 | Sal Russo

This is bigger than just Wisconsin!

As we feared, Obama is launching his 2012 campaign by mounting a powerful attack against Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin. What is he after? The winner of the Gov. Walker Recall will have momentum and will likely also deliver Wisconsin’s 12 electoral votes in the presidential election to their party. Whoever wins the presidential election, will likely need to win in Wisconsin.

We have been warning you that this is not a local organic battle between conservatives and liberals, but a union backed effort with much of their support coming from out of state. The unions are hoping that a victory will set the stage for Obama’s 2012 campaign and deliver Wisconsin to him.

Obama’s campaign masterminds are planning on deflecting attention from the administration’s failures, and instead are creating a national smear campaign to recall Gov. Walker and re-establish support with his entitlement big-union base.

Walker has already started campaigning against this Recall, but he is no match for Obama’s campaign machine. We must start organizing to defend Walker and continue the Tea Party momentum into Nov. 2012.

.

The first battle for 2012 is in Wisconsin. If we lose, the ripple effect will be felt in all 50 states. We cannot afford to wait – help us stop Obama 2012 NOW!

Obama’s win in 2008 hinged on the support of big unions. Now, David Axelrod and the rest of Obama’s campaign team have decided it will reaffirm the administration’s commitment to the big unions by helping recall Gov. Scott Walker. By defeating Walker, Obama will be able to seize the momentum of a union victory to help spark his 2012 campaign.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Dec. 9, 2011 — Redneck World magazine, founded in 2001 by Frank Fraser, began as little more than a local flyer, but quickly grew into a full-fledged magazine with distribution to over forty US states, and Canada. After Fraser’s death in 2008, the magazine ceased publication. Now, three years later, Redneck World magazine has been reborn, as a free online publication, under the capable hands of business and advertising manager Lucy Fraser, graphics designer and webmaster Joni Griffith, and publisher, editor and contributing writer Douglas Crouse.

High-Tech Redneck?

Not only has the staff had to face the realities of the high costs of conventional printing and distribution, but the changing publishing environment overall. Today, we see newspaper, magazine and book sales rapidly declining, while online subscriptions and sales of e-books have increased dramatically. Going digital was not only economically and logistically more feasible, but a decision based on the realities of changing technology and the dissemination of information and entertainment.

ARE FACTS AND TRUTH NO LONGER IMPORTANT?

Complaints regarding identity theft can be filed via the FTC website

(Dec. 9, 2011) — The other day I wasted my time dialoging with an Obama supporter. I know what you’re thinking: “Why squander the time you have left on earth with an exercise in futility?” Not quite true; you see, I was attempting to diagnose the reason for, what for no better term that I can see than “fact avoidance,” or “fact blockage,” maybe “factitis” (fakt-ti’ tis) n. The mind’s amazing ability to substitute reality with fiction.

Take, for instance, Obots refusing to discuss the Federal Law regarding fake, false, and the use of multiple Social Security numbers. The law is very specific in that it states that the use of any other than the Social Security number issued, you win the chance to get cuffed and booked. “Well, that’s because you’re racist,” the Obot told me. I called a lawyer friend and asked her what she thought of the Obot’s response.

“It’s implied,” she said. “Because Obama is half-white, then Arab with a smattering of black, any reference to illegality is Verboten! You see, Obots think that they can circumvent any law, rule, regulation, moré and tradition they want because of the fantastical whim of disassociation. I mean, if they break the law and get caught, even on tape, they whine. In Germany we call such people “wieners;” here in America they’re called Obots.”

After being asked if the encroaching eyes of big government were giving the U.S. a bad name during a CFR event earlier today, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano responded by saying she was pleased with being dubbed “Big Sis” by the Drudge Report.

Discussing airport security, moderator Terry Moran stated, “There is this sense of encroaching eyes of government on us at every single stage, you get that all the time, so what do you say as you reach these agreements, push our borders and the United States’ way of doing things out into countries which have different traditions and values, perhaps? Is big sister watching?”

“I think ‘big sis’ is my moniker in the Drudge Report,” responded Napolitano.

“I knew I’d actually made it when I had my own name in the Drudge Report. You know, that’s the standard,” joked the DHS chief, pumping her fist in the air, and receiving a few chuckles in response from the CFR elitists in the audience.

Fed Interest in Food Storage Facility Connected to FEMA Executive Order 10999

December 9, 2011 3 comments

Fed Interest in Food Storage Facility Connected to FEMA Executive Order 10999 food+storage column+systemOn Thursday, Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers posted a bulletin on the organization’s blog reporting on federal agents demanding a food storage cannery in Tennessee turn over customer lists so they might discover who is purchasing bulk storable foods and storing it at the facility owned by Mormons.

As Rhodes notes, it is part of Mormon Church religious doctrine to store food for hard times and emergencies. Church doctrine states that each family store a year’s worth of basic dry goods along with three months worth of store-bought canned and boxed foods. “These Church canneries also often sell food storage items to non-church members, seeing it as both morally right and prudent to help their neighbors store food, whatever their faith,” Rhodes explains.

He then speculates as to why the feds would demand customer lists. “DHS/FEMA wants to know which Americans have food storage so the federal government can at some future point confiscate that food. Just as with lists of gun owners, compiling such lists is the first step toward future confiscation,” he writes.

In fact, the government codified the concept of food confiscation and redistribution when president Kennedy issued Executive Order 10999 on February 16, 1962.

10999 was one of several executive orders signed by Kennedy under the rubric of “national emergency” that extended extrajudicial power to FEMA, including the ability to control communications, energy, food, fuel, farms, transportation, highways, railroads, inland waterways and seaports, health, education and welfare. The EO also allows FEMA to organize citizen work brigades under government control and undertake the relocation of the population.

10999 also gives FEMA the authority to control all public storage facilities.

On June 3, 1994, president Clinton consolidated all previous FEMA executive orders into one all-encompassing order, #12919.

As many have noted, FEMA is not an emergency agency. It is a martial law agency. It is often referred to as the “secret government” of the United States.

“It is not an elected body, it does not involve itself in public disclosures, and it even has a quasi-secret budget in the billions of dollars,” writes Harry V. Martin. “This government organization has more power than the President of the United States or the Congress, it has the power to suspend laws, move entire populations, arrest and detain citizens without a warrant and hold them without trial, it can seize property, food supplies, transportation systems, and can suspend the Constitution.”

If we take the above into consideration, it makes sense that the feds would be interested in keeping track of facilities storing food supplies.

Local sheriff defends farmer from FDA intrusion

Brad Rogers, Sheriff of Elkhart County, Indiana, is withstanding FDA bureaucrats who are harassing citizens in his county. The Complete Patient reports,

The U.S. Justice Department has withdrawn its subpoena of Indiana raw dairy farmer Richard Hochstetler to appear before a federal grand jury.

But yesterday he received a certified letter saying that his subpoena was being withdrawn.

The withdrawal came after Roger’s Sheriff’s Department told the FDA to back off:

Pinging the Agenda21 folks!

This is about the FDA interference of Farmers selling fresh products directly to the public…and a local sheriff stood up to them.

For other information on this subject, I just received this email regarding the efforts of sheriffs on behalf of our Constitution:

Sheriff’s Stand To Help Save America – Following Our Founding Fathers:

Please consider donating $1.00 (more is better!) It would be ‘something’ to give encouragement to the courageous action of dedicated sheriffs who need to meet on Jan. 30, 2012 for the saving of America. With the betrayal of our federal government, if the military/police follow their orders…our sheriffs who stand with the constitution are a great hope for America. They need our support and prayers:

If you want to be on or off the Agenda 21 ping list, please notify me by Freepmail. It is a relatively low volume list in which we have been exploring the UN Agenda21 and related topics. Americans leaving US in record numbers

Ever dream of leaving it all behind and heading out of America? You’re not the only one. A new study shows that more US citizens than ever before are living outside of the country. According to statistics from the US State Department, around 6.4 million Americans are either working or studying overseas, which Gallup says is the largest number ever for such statistic. The polling organization came across the number after conducting surveys in 135 outside nations and the information behind the numbers reveal that this isn’t exactly a longtime coming either — numbers have skyrocketed only in recent years. In the 24 months before polling began, the number of Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 living abroad managed to surge from barely 1 percent to over 5.1 percent. For those under the age span wishing to move overseas, the percentage has jumped in the same amount of time from 15 percent to 40. While the United States of America was at one point (and largely still is) a magnet for foreigners in search of work, the statistics makes it clear that an opposite trend is quickly picking up steam.

“There’s a feeling among more entrepreneurial Americans that if you really want to get anything done, you have to get out of country and away from the depressing atmosphere,” Bob Adams of America Wave tells Reuters. “There’s a sense of lost direction, so more people are looking for locations that offer more hope about the future.”

FEMA camps are being activated

Shortly after the Senate voted in The National Defense Authorization Act, S. 1867, according to an exclusive and confidential report given to Alex Jones at http://www.infowars.com, FEMA camps all over the country are now being activated. The report talks of outsourcing and providing temporary fencing, medical, laundry equipment, catering, refuse collection and power supplies. Alex Jones walks us through several acts and bold movements toward confining US citizens into camps.

Clear back in the days of Col. Oliver North, we saw Rex 84 (Readiness Exercise) established. It was a plan to gather up all the illegal aliens and put them in camps. At least that was the first face put on this. This plan was inspired by others, then the head of FEMA who planned clear back in 1970 to detain as many as 21 million ‘American Negroes’ in case of a black militant uprising in the U.S. Paranoi and control queen activity goes back decades.

A Teen-age President in Search of an Adult Identity

Barack Obama keeps looking for a presidential identity not his own. In 2008, he wished to be JFK — whom he often referenced as a youthful and charismatic figure supposedly similar to himself. So we heard references to Obama’s father’s arrival to the U.S. during the golden Kennedy Camelot years. Caroline Kennedy herself came out of seclusion to assure us that Obama had the same Kennedy zest, and she flirted with a Senate run to help restore the lost age of grandeur. And at the Brandenburg Gate, Obama would have liked to electrify Europeans with another Ich Bin Ein Berliner speech.

Prison Planet.com » Bush Press Secretary Calls Ron Paul “Nuts” Following 9/11 “Glee” Comments

During a speech in Iowa Thursday, Congressman Paul told the thousands in attendance that the terrorist attacks in 2001 were used by the Bush administration to launch preemptive wars and pursue an interventionist foreign policy.

“Think of what happened after 9/11, the minute before there was any assessment, there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq, and so the war drums beat,” Paul said. “That’s exactly what they’re doing now with Iran.”

While Fleischer contends that Ron Paul is insane for making such a suggestion, he has apparently forgotten that it was George W. Bush himself who, in the days after 9/11, gloated to his budget director, Mitch Daniels, “Lucky me–I hit the trifecta!”

While the nation reacted with shock and horror at the devastation and destruction, then Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld began issuing rapid orders to his aides to look for evidence of Iraqi involvement in the attacks, just hours after they took place.

As conservatives look over the field of candidates we have been provided this election cycle, one thing becomes abundantly clear: most of these candidates will lose to Obama in 2012. But Rick Perry is the only guy that can show why he is the one you want to have a beer with while Obama is the one upset that the price of arugula is has risen at Wholefoods. If you’re reading this, you may not care who the most likable presidential candidate is, but the voters who decide elections do. The simple truth is that Perry is likable, Romney and Gingrich aren’t.

Mitt Romney has shown himself to be inherently unlikable. His whole persona seems contrived. He wasn’t asked to run for president, he dedicated his life to it. In the General Election, Romney will come off as disingenuous, out-of-touch and rich. Before this presidential run he had over four houses–you may not care, but General Election voters will. The only consistent political position he holds is on a healthcare mandate–voters want someone they can trust. Romney is ripe for attacks. David Axlerod will paint Romney as an out-of-touch opportunist and it will stick enough to convince independents in OH, FL and PA to stick with the known quantity of Obama.

What would you say if I told you that someone in the U.S. Congress was trying to pass a law allowing authorities to access your e-mails or documents stored online for longer than 6 months WITHOUT A WARRANT?

Now what if I told you that you were too late, that it was already signed into law 25 years ago?

The year was 1986. The same year as the Iran-Contra scandal, the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, and the Chernobyl meltdown. Little did anyone know that a privacy disaster was being signed into law by Ronald Reagan, ironically titled the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA).

The ECPA was created as an amendment to the Wiretap Statute written in 1968. The purpose was to extend the government’s restrictions on wire taps of telephone calls to electronic data transmitted via computer. In many ways the law was very forward thinking and protected a medium of communication that was not yet widespread.

However, this law had a fatal flaw that has come back to haunt us. When the law was written, the Justice Department argued that e-mail residing on a server for long periods of time should be considered “abandoned” and no longer private. This assumption was made because in 1986 e-mail was not stored on the servers for long periods of time due to storage costs. Congress agreed, and set the limit for privacy protections in the ECPA to 180 days. E-mail stored on servers for longer than 180 days could be made available to the authorities with a subpoena issued without the approval of a judge…..

Prison Planet.com » Portugal raiding pension funds could be sign of things to come in U.S

December 9, 2011 4 comments

There is a saying that epitomizes the dangers of surrendering too much of your independence: “Those who giveth can also taketh away.” With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that in Portugal – and, most likely, a number of other nations in the months and years to come – state-provided pension funds are no longer safe from the government’s all-powerful reach.

As the country continues to drown in a sea of red ink caused by generations of politicians pandering to generations of over-demanding citizens punch-drunk from too many trips to the public winery, the Portuguese Cabinet agreed this weekto transfer the assets from four of the country’s biggest banks to the government treasury, in order to “bridge” a yawning budget gap that threatens to bankrupt the nation.

Portuguese government officials “assured” the European Union that the transfer of the life savings of Portuguese citizens would only be a one-time occurrence, but in saying so they ignored the fact that, in 2010, they balanced the government’s books “by shifting three pension plans from Portugal Telecom on to the public social security system” and are liabilities that “don’t count yet.”

Some of the people’s advocates have already begun to speak out. “This can’t be seen as a future revenue stream in any way,” said Raoul Ruperal from Open Europe.

As bad as it sounds for Portugal – and raiding the retirement funds of millions of Portugueseisbad, that couldn’t happen in the U.S., right?

But it has already happened.

Confused why Tim Geithner has seemingly booked a weekly round trip ticket to Brussels to give the Eurocrats their weekly pep talk (much to his endless humiliation as Europe Tells Geithner To Take His Advice And Shove It reminds us)?

Art Cashin explains not only this, but why the biggest threat to Obama’s reelection chances is not who the GOP candidate is in November, but what happens in the EURUSD as early as today. L

astly, by implication, Cashin shoots down any hope that US decoupling from Europe is even remotely possible… something anyone who actually has seen a full business cycle, which automatically excludes 90% of all traders today, will know too well.

From Art Cashin

Wrong Solution. Wrong Time – Markets are celebrating (mildly) the Euro Summit “agreement”. We suspect Tim Geithner and the President are banging their heads against the wall.

The Euro leaders continue to plan and plot toward long range solutions, but they lack a crisis plan. In essence, they don’t have a fire department. If markets in the sovereign debt or European banks began to spiral out of control, they have no structure to deal with it.

“If anyone’s going to be deported, it’s going to be you! … Get out! We are the future. You’re old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you – leave like beaten rats. You old white people, it is your duty to die. Right now, we’re already controlling those elections, whether it’s by violence or nonviolence.

Through love of having children we’re going to take over.” Augustin Cebada, information minister of Brown Berets, militant para-military soldiers of Aztlan shouting at U.S. citizens at an Independence Day rally in Los Angeles.

It is astounding how many elected public officials support illegal aliens who sneak into our house like criminals in the night, stealing jobs that belong to Americans and bankrupting cities and hospitals for “freebies” they have no right to receive, backed up by federal judges who should have been removed from the federal bench decades ago. In April 2008, the very popular, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, prostituted himself during a speech for votes at an event sponsored by the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey by assuring his audience illegal aliens were not really here illegally, but were simply “undocumented.”

The ‘unofficial’ number of unemployed Americans is close to 25 MILLION. Those “undocumented” criminals Gov. Christie refers to are illegally holding 11.5 MILLION jobs that belong to Americans and naturalized citizens.

Shame on you, Gov. Christie for thumbing your nose at our federal immigration laws and encouraging even more criminals to break into our country. Roll out the welcome mat. Unemployment in New Jersey is holding at a steady 9.3%. Gov. Christie apparently doesn’t care if jobs go to illegal aliens instead of legal citizens in his state. After all, they’re simply “undocumented”. Well, what can one expect from someone who believes the hoax called ‘global warming‘? Yes, Christie is on the record saying ‘climate change’ (the repackaged global warming baloney) is caused by human activity…..

It’s not just the Mitt Romney camp keeping up the hits against Newt Gingrich. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, the son of the presidential candidate, takes to the pages of the Des Moines Register to attack the former House speaker as an influence-peddling “Rockefeller Republican“:

Both Romney and Gingrich have been outspoken and unapologetic supporters of the individual mandate. This is the heart and soul of ObamaCare. …. Continue Reading

Was Fast and Furious All About Gun Control?

Powerline ^ | 7 December, 2011 | John Hinderaker

Posted on Friday, December 09, 2011 10:01:23 AM by marktwain

The Democrats have longed to impose gun control, or confiscation, for decades, but after a series of electoral defeats they finally backed off. The issue has largely receded from view, although gun owners have remained vigilant. For some time, Second Amendment advocates have suspected that the Obama administration’s gun walking program (“Fast and Furious”) was intended to create a pretext for bringing back the gun control issue. There has been a little evidence of that, but not much. Today, however, Sharyl Attkisson of CBS, who has been all over the Fast and Furious scandal and would, in a sane world, get a Pulitzer Prize, broke another scoop:

Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation “Fast and Furious” to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

ATF officials didn’t intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called “Demand Letter 3″. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or “long guns.” Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information.

On July 14, 2010 after ATF headquarters in Washington D.C. received an update on Fast and Furious, ATF Field Ops Assistant Director Mark Chait emailed Bill Newell, ATF’s Phoenix Special Agent in Charge of Fast and Furious:

“Bill – can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks.”

On Jan. 4, 2011, as ATF prepared a press conference to announce arrests in Fast and Furious, Newell saw it as “(A)nother time to address Multiple Sale on Long Guns issue.” And a day after the press conference, Chait emailed Newell: “Bill–well done yesterday… (I)n light of our request for Demand letter 3, this case could be a strong supporting factor if we can determine how many multiple sales of long guns occurred during the course of this case.”

Follow the link, and you can see the emails. I have reviewed hundreds of thousands of emails produced in discovery, and am acutely aware that one should not draw cosmic conclusions on the basis of a few ill-chosen words or random references. We certainly want to be fair to the Obama administration officials who were involved in Fast and Furious. But a fundamental question has never been answered: why in the world did the Obama administration not just allow AK-47s and other weapons to be shipped across the border to Mexican drug gangs, but encourage and even finance such transactions, over the objections of jittery gun shop owners and its own veteran agents? If the Obama administration wasn’t trying to set up an argument for more gun control, then what was it trying to do? That question has never been answered.

When it comes to the subject of marijuana, Barack Obama appears to talk out of both sides of his mouth. As a candidate, Obama intimated that he would respect state laws regarding medicinal marijuana and would not prosecute medicinal marijuana sales and use in states where it is legal. “It’s not a good use of our resources,” he said at the time. When Obama took office, the Justice Department released a memo that seemed to confirm that position. But in the years since Obama’s inauguration, his administration has shifted course. Now, Attorney General Eric Holder is vigorously prosecuting medicinal marijuana growers and sellers.

Prison Planet.com » “Merkozy” Letter to EU: Now Is the Time to Strip Countries of Sovereignty

December 9, 2011 Leave a comment

In his candid appraisal of the letter from Germany’s Angela Merkel and France’s Nicolas Sarkozy to the European Union meeting that starts Friday in Brussels, Dan Murphy makes clear that this summit will be different from the previous 20: This one is determined to override national sovereignty to save the euro. The core of the letter is the offer of the fatal alternative to the euro zone nations: Either give up essential sovereign control over your budgets to the EU, or destroy the euro.

The “Merkozy” letter said,

The current crisis has uncovered the deficiencies in the construction of the [European Monetary Union] mercilessly. We need to remedy those deficiencies…. We need more binding and more ambitious rules and commitments for the Euro area Member States. They should reflect that sharing a single currency means sharing responsibility for the Euro area as a whole. The building blocks of the new Stability and Growth Union are: A strengthened institutional architecture. Euro area governance needs to be substantially reinforced.

The problem, until now, has been the virtual impossibility of amending unanimously the various treaties under which the EU currently operates. With the clock ticking amid increasingly nervous financial markets, there is no time for that nicety. And so a way has been found: doing an end run around the process by using a little-known clause in the Schengen treaty to speed up implementation of the “strengthened institutional architecture” that is needed.

Gingrich’s environmental proposals include altering climate with giant mirrors

Daily Caller ^ | 120711 | Alexis Levinson

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich‘s hobby, he says, is studying “dinosaurs and other fossils.” He openly mourned the death of Knut the polar bear.Gingrich believes it is a “false dichotomy” to group policies according to whether they deal with the country’s economic problems or protect the environment. Instead, he thinks government can incentivize the production of new energy technologies, which would consequently help the environment and the economy by making the country less dependent on foreign oil.

And he is not short on ideas of how to do it. “One generation’s science fiction is the next generation’s practical reality,” wrote Gingrich in “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less,” a book he co-authored in 2008 with Vince Haley.

Here’s a sampling of some of Gingrich’s more interesting environmental ideas:

1) Build “a large array of mirrors [that] could affect the earth’s climate,” to extend farmers’ growing season. He outlined this proposal in his book “A Contract with the Earth.”
