Stand With Arizona

Prominent Congressman Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is defending Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio against Justice Department charges of committing “civil rights violations” against Latinos in Maricopa County.

Thomas Perez, head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division – and a former board member of Hispanic hate group CASA de Maryland, unexpectedly released the report on December 15. Some observers, including Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, believe the sudden release of results of the 3+ year investigation was timed to distract from the one-year anniversary of the murder of Border Agent Brian Terry, for which Eric Holder‘s DOJ was directly culpable, through their disastrous ‘Operation Fast and Furious’. 57 Congressional Representatives and one senator have called for Holder’s resignation over the bloody debacle.

King rejected allegations that Arpaio has been engaged in racial profiling and carrying out strong-handed patrols along the Arizona border aimed at stopping illegal immigrants. “I’ve been to visit his operation,” King says in the video, adding: “There is not a profiling operation that I can see.”

King characterized the Justice Department allegations as “a political agenda that’s working against a man who stands up for the law.”

According to multiple unnamed sources, Clinton has been confiding to close pals that Obama is “the worst President ever” and his presidency is a “sinking ship” that is “taking the Democratic party and the country down with him,” and when Obama confronted him on the comments, Clinton looked him in the eye and said; “Yes, it’s a fact.” The Globe reports: “At that point, the source adds, Obama went ballistic and told the ex-Prez; ‘Then you are a racist and no different than the rest of them.’”

The Empire Strikes Back… Against Ordinary Americans, Constitutionally-Protected Protesters and the Rule of Law

Joining the Dark Side: Darth Vaders Stranglehold on America obama+change+death+starWould it be taken as parody to openly state that the United States has moved away from its Constitution, and the hope that its concept of freedom would be a light upon the world, and instead shifted towards ‘The Dark Side’– that is, the kind of evil empire portrayed in Star Wars? The language authorizing the indefinite detention of American citizens without trial under the sections 1031 & 1032 of the 2012 Defense Authorization Act take America many steps towards that fictional but importantly symbolic Empire– it too a broken and corrupted Republic.

But it is much more than the naked tyranny demonstrated under NDAA. It is the direction towards paradoxical control by the State, sold psychologically in Orwellian terms. Preemptive strikes define the atmosphere of lawlessness and paranoia that has painted in succession terrorists, rogue states, patriots and homeland dissidents as threats that must be dealt without outside the framework of due process and the rights explicitly stated under the Bill of Rights.

THE DARK SIDE, BORN ON 9/11

Joining the Dark Side: Darth Vaders Stranglehold on America leno cheney vaderSomehow victory in the War on Terror was successfully accepted under a definition that saw constitutional protections under the Fourth Amendment, preventing warrantless checkpoints and guarding privacy, as a barrier to stopping the bad guys under due diligence. This same attitude, coaxed under the manufactured fears from 9/11, helped to stifle, but not stop, free speech and encouraged legislation and administrative policies that disregard (and even spit upon) many of the Bill of Rights– from warrantless wiretapping, to policies on torture and legal-roundabouts turning definitions like waterboarding, spying, searches, enemy combatant status, lawful detention & imprisonment, “war” and many other important concepts upside down, all with legal ramifications. And it’s no wonder why, as the president during this era had referred to the Constitution as ‘just a goddamned piece of paper.’

Lately, about once or twice a day, I receive an email from a well-meaning correspondent asking whether the late black nationalist Malcolm X was, in fact, the natural father of President Barack Obama.

The question is not as outlandish as it sounds: The falsification of Obama’s official bio makes speculation on his origins almost inevitable.

The Malcolm-as-father proponent usually begins with photos of Malcolm and Obama. (Yes, they do look vaguely alike.) He then builds a case by adding any random detail that might support his thesis and ignoring those that don’t. The latter category includes just about everything known about Malcolm X’s character and history.

In1960 Malcolm X was the least likely black man in America to have impregnated Ann Dunham, Obama’s mom, then a mousy white adolescent in Washington state or Hawaii or wherever.

Beyond the logistical problems – Ann, are you sure America’s most prominent black nationalist will feel comfortable at your lily white prom? – Malcolm was bound by several restraints, both philosophical and personal.

For one, while a member of the Nation of Islam (NOI), the married Malcolm opposed adultery. He did so with such conviction that it would ultimately cost him his life.

In 1962, the year after Obama’s birth, Malcolm learned that two of the former secretaries of Elijah Muhammad, his spiritual leader in the NOI, had sued the old geezer for child support.

The USA was not immune to these impulses. Perhaps the territorial designs and war with Mexico (1846-48) was a harbinger of things to come. Yet that seemed more like a classic land-grab than a centralizing power-grab.

But there was restlessness in the Northern states. The growing Northeastern materialist establishment began to cast their eyes on the government in Washington. The antiquated relic of Jacobite idealism would not bend to their wishes and impress the will of the few upon the whole country. Supported in the South the power balance and decentralized structure of the Constitution promised integrity for the individual while it bridled government control. The North chaffed under the Constitution. This out of kilter situation was doomed.

Benjamin Disraeli

With a close eye on Europe, adoration for the French Revolution, and the acceptance of Karl Marx into the pantheon of intellectuals the establishment in the North was aware which way the wind was blowing. In the 1800’s the heroes of modern Europe were centralizers, colonizers, and empire builders; led by strongmen like Benjamin Disraeli, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Bismarck. These trends were known to the Yankee powerbrokers who did not want to be left behind.

The only thing that stood in their way was the South. From the swamps of Florida to the Ozarks of Missouri the vast geography harbored “archaic” notions of governance. In the same way that Prussia coveted Bavaria and Austria the Yankees craved the South and its wealth.

Christmas is an American holiday

A Whig Manifesto ^ | December 17, 2011 | Chuck Morse

In colonial times Christmas was frowned upon in New England and observed mostly as a private feast in mid-Atlantic and Southern colonies. The strait-laced New England Puritans, partially motivated by anti-Catholic sentiment, banned Christmas in 1659 under the guise that the holiday was pagan and that it encouraged decadence. Colonial Americans celebrated a Christmas that contained both religious and secular elements thus establishing a uniquely balanced American approach to faith. Christmas harkens back to the ancient Roman celebration of the Saturnalia, a day in which all Romans, Emperor and slave, addressed each other on a first name basis.

In the Year 1839, John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams, and himself a President of the United States, was invited by the New York Historical Society to speak on the 50th Anniversary under the Constitution. His extensive “Jubilee” Address can be read here. The following relatively short review of the history he summarized in the final portion of his Address is excerpted here:

The President himself is no more than a representative of public opinion at the time of his election; and as public opinion is subject to great and frequent fluctuations, he must accommodate his policy to them; or the people will speedily give him a successor; or either House of Congress will effectually control his power. It is thus, and in no other sense that the Constitution of the United States is democratic – for the government of our country, instead of a Democracy the most simple, is the most complicated government on the face of the globe. From the immense extent of our territory, the difference of manners, habits, opinions, and above all, the clashing interests of the North, South, East, and West, public opinion formed by the combination of numerous aggregates, becomes itself a problem of compound arithmetic, which nothing but the result of the popular elections can solve.

It has been my purpose, Fellow-Citizens, in this discourse to show:-

Judge Napolitano: Freedom is under attack!

“The United States of America was born out of a bloody revolt against tyranny,” says Napolitano. “Yet almost from its inception, the government here has suppressed liberty.”

In his sixth book on the Constitution and human freedom, the popular Fox News host goes to the root of today’s problems, asking: “Where does freedom come from? How can government in America exercise power that the people have not given to it? What forces have collaborated to destroy personal freedom?”

In this back-to-basics on freedom, Judge Napolitano addresses hard questions:

Doomed from the Start: The Myth of Limited Constitutional Government in America by Thomas DiLorenzo

December 17, 2011 8 comments

After spending a lifetime in politics John C. Calhoun (U.S. Senator, Vice President of the United States, Secretary of War) wrote his brilliant treatise, A Disquisition on Government, which was published posthumously shortly after his death in 1850.

Thomas DiLorenzo, Illinois 2

In it Calhoun warned that it is an error to believe that a written constitution alone is “sufficient, of itself, without the aid of any organism except such as is necessary to separate its several departments, and render them independent of each other to counteract the tendency of the numerical majority to oppression and abuse of power” (p. 26). The separation of powers is fine as far as it goes, in other words, but it would never be a sufficient defense against governmental tyranny, said Calhoun.

Like most people, recently I’ve been asked to present photo identification on a number of occasions without regard to my race, religion, or national origin. The majority of the requests I’ve received have come in circumstances many would consider more or less routine: checking in for a flight and passing through airport security; registering as a guest at a hotel; using a credit card when purchasing something more expensive than a meal or tank of gas; and buying over-the-counter medications. In addition, I was required to show photo identification while visiting the Department of Justice here in Washington.

In the last few weeks, however, my experiences in this regard have been of another sort entirely. On November 17, very much to my surprise, I had a medical emergency. The excellent physicians who treated me prescribed a battery of tests and evaluations by a number of specialists, with whom I had a series of appointments and office visits.

When John Bolton was asked the question of what he thought was the greatest misconception that Democrats have about Republicans, I honestly didn’t expect such a brilliantly deep answer. I guess I’ve gotten used to fluff. But Bolton hit it out of the park and I just had to start the day with it:

“The core misimpression is that a fundamental belief in liberty and it’s implications is somehow cruel and uncaring. When in fact, liberty is absolutely central to the most massive economic change in the history of the world that has brought more concrete material advantages to people in the last few hundred years than in millennia before that. And that understanding liberty means you have to value the possibility of failure as well as the possibility of success. Because if you don’t have failure as an option, you’ll never have success as an option.

The online poll weighed your answers to various questions against the answers given by the different 2012 Presidential candidates and tabulated the results.

The results of my poll looked something like this:

1. Paul (just under 70% agreement)

2. Bachmann (just under 50%)

3. Gingrich (just under 49%)

4, 5, and 6. Santorum, Perry, Huntsman—in that order (all close – around 45%)

7. Romney

8.Obama

As you can see, Ron Paul did not win my poll in a “squeaker”—he won it walking away. This left me to wonder if I should take a more in-depth look at the Ron Paul candidacy, nay-saying pundits notwithstanding. Link Link

Why Use Drones?

Drones are extremely effective by maintaining a “persistent observation” of targets. By remaining over an Iranian nuclear weapons complex the drones can observe daily operations over a long period of time providing analysts insight to routine operations and daily traffic of materials entering and leaving the targeted nuclear facilities. It has the ability to monitor and track vehicles going to other locations and possibly exposing additional nuclear weapon related facilities. Such information allows mission planners necessary intelligence as to when to strike identified targets in order to shut down any future nuclear weapon development if so ordered by the president.

Unlimited Military Detention of Americans To Become Law: To Hell With Freedom! by Gary D. Barnett

December 17, 2011 2 comments

I recently wrote an article about this atrocious piece of legislation, (S-1867) but at that time, it had not made it through the House of Representatives, and Obama had pledged to veto it upon its arrival to his desk. It is no surprise that the dishonest Obama lied again, but it is telling that both the House of Representatives and the Senate passed this overwhelmingly. These are the same “representatives” that most of the lemmings in this country believe protect their interests, but the opposite of course is the case.

It is difficult to put into words just how absolutely obnoxious this anti-freedom monstrosity is, and it is even more difficult to imagine the future consequences of this heinous law. How on earth can this be allowed to happen? If this stands, we can openly admit that we are now in an executive dictatorship.

When any American can be “legally” apprehended by the military, held indefinitely without the benefit of any due process, be shipped off to hidden prisons or concentration camps, and tortured or worse, what have we become? What have the people become when they sit idly by and let this go forward without complete and total resistance? They have become slaves to the state, and they have become slaves voluntarily!

There are many attempting to refute the fact that the military has the authorization to indefinitely hold American citizens, but it is very clear that under this piece of legislation, the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, the military can do just that. While the bill is filled with many deplorable aspects, mostly ignored I might add, the detention language is clear. Glenn Greenwald of Salon explains the myths concerning the detention portion of this bill in his brilliant article: “Three myths about the detention bill.”…..

KAILUA, OAHU – The U.S. Secret Service has arrived, street barricades are in place, and the U.S. Coast Guard has stationed itself in the waters surrounding Kailua, Oahu. That is a sure sign President Barack Obama’s security team is preparing for the first family to arrive in the small beachside community as early as Friday night for what is expected to be a 17-day vacation.

The President and his family are traveling separately to Hawaii because he wants resolve the payroll tax cut issue before leaving Washington – and his wife does not want to wait.

But the advanced trip and the cost that comes with it – as much as $100,000 (flight and security) – adds to an already expensive vacation for the taxpayers.

Hawaii Reporter research shows the total cost for the President’s visit for taxpayers far exceeded $1.5 million in 2010 – but is even more costly this year because he extended his vacation by three days and the cost for Air Force One travel has jumped since last assessed in 2000. In addition, Hawaii Reporter was able to obtain more specifics about the executive expenditures.

The total cost (based on what is known) for the 17-day vacation roundtrip vacation to Hawaii for the President, his family and staff has climbed to more than $4 million. Here’s why.

TRAVEL: $3,651,626

The biggest expense is President Barack Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii via Air Force One, a cost the GAO office estimated at $1 million in the year 2000. Contacted today, the GAO confirmed there is no report the independent office affiliated with Congress has prepared since 2000…

The National Transportation Safety Board wants a complete ban on cellphone use while driving, even on hands-free calls. Some will protest this as yet another government encroachment on freedom, but we should think twice before rocking the boat here.

After all, have you considered how lucky we are that the government lets us drive cars at all?

Imagine if cars hadn’t been around for a century, but instead were just invented today. Is there any way they’d be approved for individual use? It’s an era of bans on incandescent bulbs; if you suggested putting millions of internal-combustion engines out there, you’d get looks like you were Hitler proposing the Final Solution.

Even aside from pollution, the government wouldn’t allow the risks to safety.

Rick Perry shrugged off his fellow southern state governor, South Carolina’s Nikki Haley, deciding to back rival Mitt Romney, in an interview with CNN’s John King.

“That’s one vote, I’ll be real honest with you, I’ve got a medal of honor recipient Jim Livingston, who endorsed me on the deck of the Yorktown last week, and you know, no offense but I like those guys that have that type of long-time record of endorsements,” said Perry, according to POLITICO’s Emily Schultheis. “I greatly respect Gov. Haley, but if I had to pick between the two, love having those veterans stand up and say this is the guy, this is the man for the job.”

Perry also again dinged Ron Paul for suggesting that there is no real evidence Iran is moving to acquire nukes, saying, “There should be no space between the United States and Israel, and I was just really taken aback by Ron Paul’s almost nonchalant statement about, you know, let the mullahs go, there’s not any evidence that they’re getting a bomb. That’s certainly not my information, I’m relying on some pretty wise and plugged-in people – I talk to John Bolton on a regular basis and the ambassador is greatly concerned about Iran.”

Chris Wallace made a similar point on Fox News before last night’s debate: “The Ron Paul people are not going to like my saying this,” he said. “But to a certain degree, it will discredit the Iowa caucuses because, rightly or wrongly, I think most of the Republican establishment thinks he’s not going to end up as the nominee. So therefore, Iowa won’t count.”

Despite establishment sentiment, Paul continues to do well in the polls….

BY THE ENEMY AMONG US

(Dec. 16, 2011) — Past a certain age, treachery loses its sting. The spouse who cheats on you, the friend who stabs you in the back, the colleague who claims credit for your work–all seem so ordinary in the world we live in, that crying over such matters becomes hyperbole.

But today’s treachery, the passage of the NDAA, the “indefinite detention act,” calls for extended mourning and a funeral. It signifies the formal end of freedom in our country, the blatant but largely ignored murder of the US Constitution by the traitors (our senators and congressmen and president) who serve the vampires (the banking and corporate elite).

Uh-oh. Is this the detailed smoking gun that proves beyond doubt that Ron Paul wrote his controversial newsletters? Will it bring an abrupt end to the Paul candidacy? Over at Conservatives Network a piece is up stating that, contrary to Ron Paul’s shimmying on the issue, the site has clear proof the newsletters were written by Ron Paul himself. The site has photographic evidence and notes frequent first-person references by the writer to a potential presidential run and so on. Is this revelation to Ron Paul what the Nixon secret tapes were to Richard Nixon’s presidency? A smoking gun that fatally wounds a candidacy as the revelation of the Nixon smoking gun tapes ended a presidency? Stay tuned.

Yes, he’s still governor. He’s “retired” only for benefits purposes, which means he can start collecting his pension while he’s still collecting a salary. It’s perfectly legal. Just … unhelpful.

Perry makes a $150,000 annual gross salary as Texas govenor. Now, thanks to his early retirement, Perry, 61, gets a monthly retirement annuity of $7,698 before taxes, or $6,588 net. That raises his gross annual salary to more than $240,000…

[T]he disclosure is sure to spark criticism of Perry, who has called for sweeping changes to Social Security for average workers and has railed against special “perks” that members of Congress get.

“Perry was legally able to begin collecting the employee class annuity under the ‘rule of 80.’ The combination of his U.S. military service, state service and age exceeded 80 years and qualifies him for the annuity under Texas Government Code 813.503 as amended in 1991,” Sullivan said. “Perry continues to pay into the Employees Retirement System with a 6.5 percent withholding from his state salary.”…
