In June of 1976, I was Ron Paul’s speechwriter. Shortly after I joined his staff as his newsletter writer and economic analyst, I recommended that he do what I had been doing for a year: buy a Code-A-Phone telephone answering machine and make a weekly 3-minute recording for people in his districts to call. He could send the tape to his office in the district, where the machine would be set up at a local phone number. Residents could call it for free. He thought this was a good idea. So began his weekly speeches.
I wrote his first talk. He later told me that he didn’t like reading a script written by anyone else, so he had decided to record his own. As far as I know, that was the last speech anyone ever wrote for him.
He used that machine for the next two-and-a-half years. After his defeat in November 1976, he posted a weekly phone message. The weekly report became a tool for a comeback. In 1978, he defeated the man who had barely defeated him (268 votes) in 1976.
So, having been his only speechwriter, I will now offer my second speech that he will not deliver.
Prison Planet.com » Stocking Up For Doomsday: It’s Not Just For “Crazies” Anymore
Before the economic crisis of 2008 there were few who considered the possibility of The End of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAWKI). We were aware of the threats posed by natural disasters – Tsunamis in Asia, earthquakes along the western Americas, and hurricanes in the Gulf.
But the notion that the very system in which we live is susceptible to a man-made shock so powerful that it could wipe out the very infrastructure that keeps us alive was an outlier so far removed from our daily reality that it was reserved for Hollywood scripts and obscure conspiracy web sites.
But the possibility of a system collapse so severe that it could cripple our and monetary systems, food distribution networks, and emergency response services is now becoming a real concern for people all over the world.
The warning by economists that Britain is just ‘nine meals from anarchy’ is brutally borne out. Unlike last summer, the rioters on the streets aren’t looking for trainers and flat-screen TVs — just food.

PHOENIX – The Homeland Security Department will use 50 immigration agents to screen jail inmates in Arizona‘s most populous county after it revoked the sheriff‘s authority to access its systems, the agency said Monday in a letter to U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl.
Understanding Why the Constitution Was and Remains a Detriment to Individual Liberty | Strike-The-Root: A Journal Of Liberty
The opposition to this approach was the Democratic Republican Party and Thomas Jefferson, who opposed the Constitution along with other stalwarts of the revolution, namely James Madison.
These men feared that the Federalists desired a corrupted version of England’s monarchist approach, which would include a standing army, high taxes and government-subsidized monopolies. It only takes but a brief minute to fast forward and see through time that exactly that has occurred.
Prison Planet.com » Branstad’s Act Of Sabotage An Outrageous Attempt To Tamper With Election Process
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad’s rhetorical act of sabotage against his own state’s Republican primary, with his insistence that a potential Ron Paul victory should be ignored, represents an outrageous attempt to tamper with the election process.
As we reported earlier, Branstad told Politico that a Paul victory in the primary should be dismissed, urging Republicans to ignore the legitimacy of the result if the Texan Congressman comes out on top, which recent polls suggest he has a very good chance of doing. Politico adds that many fear “such a result….would do irreparable harm to the future role of the first-in-the-nation caucuses.”
“People are going to look at who comes in second and who comes in third,” said Branstad, adding, ““If [Mitt] Romney comes in a strong second, it definitely helps him going into New Hampshire and the other states,” comments taken to mean that Republicans should “ignore” Ron Paul, according to Politico’s Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns.
Branstad’s comments represent a treasonous effort to delegitimize the veracity of his own state’s primary. There are truly no depths to which establishment stooges like Branstad will sink in order to denigrate Ron Paul’s campaign.
Far from a potential Paul victory causing “irreparable harm” to the Iowa primary, as Politico would have it, Branstad himself has already done “irreparable harm” to the sanctity of future caucuses in the state.
Branstad is not only attempting to sabotage Paul’s campaign, he is directly undermining citizens in his own state by openly declaring that their vote is worthless, even though Paul is the current frontrunner.
The Governor has indicated said that he probably won’t endorse a candidate before the Jan. 3 caucuses in Iowa.
However, in an Associated Press interview last week, Branstad said he didn’t think Newt Gingrich “has the discipline and focus to be president”.
A d v e r t i s e m e n t
If Branstad is rooting for anyone, it’s clearly Mitt Romney. Prominent Romney supporters are even trying to groom Branstad into becoming a candidate for Vice President under a Romney administration.
“1996 GOP presidential nominee Bob Dole broached the idea of Branstad as No. 2 on the ticket. Dole reportedly called Branstad this weekend to let him know he would be endorsing Mitt Romney for president, and said he’d like to recommend Iowa’s governor as a possible running mate,” reports USA Today.
“Newt Hampshire” Paper Rips Ron Paul
The pro-Gingrich New Hampshire Union Leader/Sunday News published an editorial attack on Ron Paul Sunday, calling “Renegade Ron” a “gadfly, not a contender” in New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary.
Perhaps it’s a sign the editorial board is worried that the Texas congressman, who has moved into first place in the latest Iowa poll, may overtake Gingrich in New Hampshire as well.
Safe and Natural Alternatives to Aspirin by Margaret Durst
K is for klotting – which doesn’t really start with a ‘k’, but it’s what I want to write about. Many people take an aspirin a day to prevent stroke and heart attack based on aspirin’s ability to thin the blood and prevent blood clots.
Most alternative doctors have been against aspirin for a long time because it damages the stomach lining and causes kidney and liver damage. Aspirin is responsible for a significant number of emergency room visits because it causes gastrointestinal bleeding.
New studies are now showing that an aspirin a day actually increases risk of stroke and heart attack in 40 percent of the people who take it. Research is also showing that long term use of aspirin increases your risk of macular degeneration and cataracts by as much as 44 percent.
Debut of the official Capitol ‘Holiday Tree’ ~ “there is an ornament that says “I ♥ President Obama.” And just to think that… “
“On the north side of the tree—at a height of about four feet and easily visible to people standing near it—there is an ornament that says “I ♥ President Obama.”
And just to think that we thought the cult that surrounded the anti-American Obama on a stage ginned up to look like Greek columns were kidding when they tried to portray him back in 2008 as “The Messiah”.
With Congress forbidden to use the word “Christmas” on its cards to constituents, Christmas trees banned from town squares and shopping malls, the words “Merry Christmas” replaced by “Happy Holidays”, the display of The Nativity banned, how long was it before the Christmas Tree officially became the ‘Holiday Tree’?

Every legacy media and central planner’s worst nightmare is slowly coming true: as the broader field of GOP candidates is rapidly dropping like US secret drones blowing up nuclear power plants in Iran, due to general idiocy, incompetence, too much baggage-ness or general reverse American Idol syndrome where Americans get tired with any given “leader” only to vote them out of the primary the following week, the one clear winner is becoming Ron Paul, who according to Public Policy Polling has seen his support soar in the past week and is now neck and neck with presidential candidate du week, Newt Gingrich

We can’t wake the sleeping giant. But someone, somewhere, can club it in the head. When the Empire is too big, too aggressive, too starved and internally paralyzed (vibrantly demonstrated by Katrina, thank you, Ma’am, for that performance), and it finally oversteps one border too many, China , India , and Europe will implement, shall we say, ‘corrective procedures.’

Iowa Governor: If Ron Paul Wins, Ignore It And Look At Who Finishes Second branstad1
From rightly heralding the Iowa primary as a crucial indicator as to who will eventually capture the GOP nomination, the establishment has closed ranks and now decided that a Ron Paul victory doesn’t count and that the focus will be on who finishes second.
A Politico article entitled Ron Paul panic seizes Iowa establishment perfectly illustrates the supreme arrogance of the very political elite Paul is fighting against and goes a step beyond Fox News pundit Chris Wallace’s insistence that the Iowa result “won’t count” if Ron Paul wins.
Despite the fact that two out of the last three winners of the Iowa primary have gone on to successfully capture the Republican nomination, the political class have decided that Ron Paul doesn’t deserve the opportunity to build the same kind of momentum, and that a victory for him in Iowa “would do irreparable harm to the future role of the first-in-the-nation caucuses.”

At this point, Rush Limbaugh‘s offensive against Rep. Ron Paul has become something of a regular feature on his program. So it’s not entirely surprising that Limbaugh’s anti-Paulism has seeped into his commercials, too– or at least in parody. This week, Limbaugh debuted a “pro” Rep. Paul ad that featured the “candidate” arguing “the greatest danger is not from Iran, it’s from us overreacting.” Surely this will go over well with Paul fans.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Newt Gingrich saw the enemy Monday, and his name was Ron Paul.
Without speaking Paul’s name, Gingrich took dead aim at the Texas congressman who’s crept up in state polls as he’s started to tumble, and is looking increasingly likely to run strong in the caucuses.
Focusing on their foreign policy differences, Gingrich painted Paul as unprepared for the presidency and a threat to American safety.
“I will stand apart from some of our candidates and believe we need a strong defense, we need a fairly modernized intelligence community,” Gingrich said during a five-minute opening statement. “I think this is very serious stuff and I hope that every caucus-goer, before they vote on Jan. 3, would ask themselves about how dangerous the world is and whether or not we need somebody who has a background and understands that.”

Ron Paul is doing surprisingly well this year in some of the early primary state polls. There’s a simple reason for that: Most people in the conservative media have concluded he can’t win the nomination, they don’t want to get yelled at by his supporters, and so they’ve laid off of him while most of the other candidates have had to face ferocious criticism. I’d be content to ignore Paul, too, except for the fact that there’s an outside chance he could win Iowa, which is of course, perfectly ridiculous. Why is that ridiculous?

I have often thought of myself as a staunch conservative. However, over the past five weeks I have come to realize, thanks to a solid majority of the conservative chattering class and their vitriol against Newt Gingrich, that I am, per Glenn Beck, a “closet Progressive”; per Ann Coulter, “not a real conservative”; per George Will, “a Marxist“; and per National Review, and numerous other so-called conservative publications, “unfit to represent the conservative movement.”
