Prison Planet.com » Who Is Flying Unmanned Aircraft in the U.S.? ~ “Government Withholds Information on Drone Flight Authorizations”

Government Withholds Information on Drone Flight Authorizations

San Francisco – The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed suit today against the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), demanding data on certifications and authorizations the agency has issued for the operation of unmanned aircraft, also known as drones.

Drones are designed to carry surveillance equipment – including video cameras, infrared cameras and heat sensors, and radar – that can allow for sophisticated and almost constant surveillance. They can also carry weapons. Traditionally, drones have been used almost exclusively by military and security organizations. However, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection uses drones inside the United States to patrol the U.S. borders, and state and local law enforcement are increasingly using unmanned aircraft for investigations into things like cattle rustling, drug dealing, and the search for missing persons.

Any drone flying over 400 feet needs a certification or authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration, part of the DOT. But there is currently no information available to the public about who specifically has obtained these authorizations or for what purposes. EFF filed a Freedom of Information Act request in April of 2011 for records of unmanned aircraft activities, but the DOT so far has failed to provide the information.

“Drones give the government and other unmanned aircraft operators a powerful new surveillance tool to gather extensive and intrusive data on Americans’ movements and activities,” said EFF Staff Attorney Jennifer Lynch. “As the government begins to make policy decisions about the use of these aircraft, the public needs to know more about how and why these drones are being used to surveil United States citizens.”

On the heels of the National Defense Authorization Act NDAA, otherwise known as the “Indefinite Detention Act,” comes another draconian bill designed to give the federal government the power to turn American citizens into enemies of the state for virtually any reason it deems necessary. This bill would give the US government the power to strip Americans of their citizenship without being convicted of being ‘hostile’ against the United States. In other words, you can be stripped of your nationality for ‘engaging in, or purposefully and materially supporting, hostilities against the United States.’ Legally, the term ‘hostilities’ means any conflict subject to the laws of war but considering the fact that the War on Terror is a little ambiguous and encompassing, any action could be labeled as supporting terrorism.

”Foster goes on to say, “I hope I’m wrong, but it sounds to me like this is a loophole for indefinitely detaining Americans. Once again, you just have to be accused of supporting hostilities which could be defined any way the government sees fit. Then the government can strip your citizenship and apply the indefinite detention section of the NDAA without the benefit of a trial.”See Foster’s report at:

…..It’s as if the total suspension of reality has descended on a spot on earth and rendered certain segments of the society heedless to the consequences of just letting major fabrications go unchallenged. The “Forgive them, for they know not what they do” has long expired: Obama’s honeymoon is over and the facts have been laid out for all to see. Yet state election boards refuse to remove his name from the 2012 ballot, thereby giving some warped validity to his having being vetted for the 2008 election, which is demonstrably not the case.

The election of a president in this country has become anything other than a contest among qualified executives willing to work as a public servant to the American people, for four arduous years. Instead, it has become a) a huge, years-long distraction, used by the left to take attention away from the continuous flow of destructive bills, executive orders, regulations, administrative rules, and legislation disguised as judicial rulings from judges at every level of the judiciary; b) a huge business worth several billion dollars, that ties up thousands of people who should be doing something productive, but in fact, do even less of value than the “green energy industry;” and c) as a result of a) and b), keeps people from expending the time and attention needed to elect honest, capable, Constitution-supporting senators and representatives. A quick look at the current Congress and the state of the country should leave not a shadow of a doubt in anyone’s mind that this is true.

Freshman Sen. Rand Paul is making good on his promise to cut federal spending. The Kentucky Republican and tea-party favorite said Thursday he’s returning $500,000 to the U.S. Treasury — money from his operating budget that his office never spent.“I ran to stop the reckless spending. And I ran to end the damaging process of elected officials acting as errand boys, competing to see who could bring back the biggest check and the most amount of pork,” Paul said at a news conference in Louisville, where he presented taxpayers with a massive mock check for $500,000.

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday defended President Barack Obama’s controversial recess appointments to two agencies, releasing a detailed legal analysis of why the appointments passed constitutional muster.

The legal opinion followed furious complaints from Senate Republicans who accused Obama of trampling the Constitution and sidestepping the Senate confirmation process when he installed a new chief at the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and three members of the National Labor Relations Board.

The Question of Universal Salvation: Will All Be Saved?

The Question of Universal Salvation: Will All Be Saved?

Maronite Voice ^ | December 2011 | Fr. David A. Fisher

“Some will not be redeemed. There is no doctrine which I would more willingly remove from Christianity than this, if it lay in my power.”

C. S. Lewis

Kallistos Ware, Greek Orthodox Bishop and retired Oxford theologian, has in recent years been a leading advocate for the “possibility” of universal salvation. While realizing that we can never have a totally adequate understanding of human immortality and the criteria for salvation on this side of the grave, Ware makes a poignant argument by using particular passages from St. Paul and the Fathers of Church that at least the question of salvation for all is a valid question.

Ware recalls a dialogue between St. Silouan of Mt. Athos (1866-1939) and a hermit, in which the hermitwas convinced some, like atheists, deserve eternal damnation. The holy monk replied, why would you feel happy about someone burning in hell? Our love cannot bear such a thing, so we must at least pray for all. This dialogue illustrates the heart of the question; on the one side is human free will and responsibility and on other side is the endless love and mercy of God.

The New Testament certainly is weighted in favor of texts that seem to rule out any possibility of universal salvation, yet Ware points to a series of Pauline texts which affirm a parallel between the universality of sin and the universality of redemption. In 1 Corinthians 15:22, where Paul is working out the analogy between the first and second Adam: “As all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.” In Romans 11:32, “God has imprisoned all in disobedience, that he may be merciful to all.” Also in Romans 5:18, “Just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.” While these passages might suggest that Christ offers salvation to all and some will respond to it, if we look closely, Paul does not say perhaps or possibly, rather his words make almost an affirmation it will happen to all.

Possibly the most positive text in terms of universal salvation is 1 Corinthians 15:28. Here Paul says Christ will reign until “God has put all things in subjection under his feet…And when all things are made subject to the Son, then the Son himself will also be made subject to the Father, who has subjected all things to him; and thus God will be all in all.”

Prison Planet.com » SOPA: Reddit Confirms January 18 Blackout, Wikipedia and Others May Follow

It’s on — at least partially: Reddit has announced that it will be going dark for 12 hours to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act, and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales has said that he hopes to coordinate with the site so that Wikipedia does the same. Will other sites join in? Should we prepare for the Great Internet Strike of 2012?

Writing that it’s “not taking this action lightly,” Reddit announced on Tuesday that it will blackout its site on Wednesday, January 18 for 12 hours, starting at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time. During that period, the site’s content will be replaced with “a simple message about how the PIPA/SOPA legislation would shut down sites like reddit, link to resources to learn more, and suggest ways to take action.” The company will also run a live video stream of that day’s House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing on Internet security, intellectual property and economic growth.

President Obama found a moment of reduced visibility, in an unwatched hour on New Year’s Eve, to sign the latest assault on the Fifth Amendment. In signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 on New Year’s Eve, Obama knew the nation’s attention would be elsewhere, diverted by revelry, football, New Year’s Day, and a Monday national holiday.

In case you haven’t heard, the National Defense Authorization Act allows the government to detain people indefinitely – yes, it includes American citizens who can be taken even on our native soil and imprisoned – merely on the basis of accusations.

The measure is “so radical,” says Human Rights Watch, “that it would have been considered crazy had it been pushed by the Bush administration.” And although Obama appended a signing statement as he put his name to the act, solemnly assuring the nation that the power he insisted on having won’t be used recklessly, it is a political gesture that has no more force of a law than attaching a little yellow sticky note to the bill. If the clear language of the Constitution itself cannot bind the governing classes, it is hard to imagine a post-it note having much effect on the current or future presidents now that the indefinite detention of Americans without trial has been legislatively countenanced.

There you have it in a nutshell, the new American way: Guilty until proven innocent.

This is how once-free people slip into state tyranny and slide into martial law.

Political figures are always careful to paper over their power grabs with spurious legalities and midnight measures, granting themselves the rights they are appropriating. No matter how flimsy the pretext, no matter how forbidden the act, everything must be formalized and enabled. Overturned rights and the pretext of legality.

That is how the Fourth Amendment was trashed… marginalized by a document called the Patriot Act.

And now the Fifth Amendment is under attack.

Allow me to state right at the top that I am not endorsing Ron Paul.

Although I am a registered Republican, and ran for Congress in 2010 as a Republican, I am not a Republican. In fact, I am not even sure what that means any more…being a Republican. As I wrote way back in 2008 in reference to the political parties:

“It is like lying under a huge bug. Down on the ground where the bug’s feet are it looks like McCain and Obama are two different feet. But the farther up the legs you allow yourself to look you begin to realize that they really are nothing more than two legs connected to the same body.”

In 2000 I made my mark for GW Bush. After waking up, in 2004 I cast a vote for Michael Peroutka. Dr. Alan Keyes was my choice in 2008. I always vote my conscience.

Prison Planet.com » The Next War on Washington’s Agenda ~ “Only the blind do not see that the US government is preparing to attack Iran”

January 12, 2012 3 comments

Only the blind do not see that the US government is preparing to attack Iran. According to Professor Michel Chossudovsky, “Active war preparations directed against Iran (with the involvement of Israel and NATO) were initiated in May 2003.” http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=28542

Washington has deployed missiles directed at Iran in its oil emirate puppet states, Oman and the UAE, and little doubt in the other US puppet states in the Middle East. Washington has beefed up Saudi Arabia’s jet fighter force. Most recently, Washington has deployed 9,000 US troops to Israel to participate in “war games” designed to test the US/Israeli air defense system. As Iran represents no threat unless attacked, Washington’s war preparations signal Washington’s intention to attack Iran.

Another signal that Washington has a new war on its agenda is the raised level of Washington’s rhetoric and demonization of Iran. Judging by polls Washington’s propaganda that Iran is threatening the US by developing a nuclear weapon has met with success. Half of the American public support a military attack on Iran in order to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capability. Those of us who are trying to awaken our fellow citizens start from a deficit that the minds of half of the US population are under Big Brother’s control.

Of the two photos above, the one of the NYC firemen raising the flag at the site of the WTC after the 9/11 attack is now well known. The other photo, however, is not so well known. That photo is one of the photos by Leatherneck magazine photographer, S/Sgt Lou Lowery, taken on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima on 23 February 1945, of the actual flag raising there at about 1020 on that morning

.Lowery had accompanied 1/Lt. Harold G. Schrier and his 40-man combat patrol Easy Company, 2ndBn, 28th Marines, up the hill to raise our national colors; this was the first time in 2,000 years that a foreign flag had been raised on the Japanese homeland.Later that same day, a larger, “replacement” flag was substituted for the original, and was photographed at that time by Joe Rosenthal; and it was that photo that soon became famous as The Iwo Jima Flag Raising.

The reality is that as far as is known no one’s been “disappeared” yet. Yet untold numbers are trying to get off radar and worry that they’re coming to take them away.

They’re monitoring journalists including Internet website giants like the Drudge Report, and their all encompassing definition of journalists now includes bloggers. (DHS: privacy compliance review)

Far left power brokers who control most of the media have been monitoring journalists for decades. One of their biggest parlour tricks is their use of drones to write and threaten boycotts to the advertisers of the newspapers and websites who hire them, forcing victimized reporters and editors to move on to another job where the same practice takes place.

The only new about power broker potential for disappearing acts and monitoring journalists/bloggers is that Barack Obama gets to boast about having power over the little people and frighten them back from dissident activity into hiding.

Unlike New Hampshire, where Paul finished second after taking advantage of strong support from Independents, South Carolina is dominated by social conservatives who would be more inclined to vote for someone like Santorum (although Mitt Romney’s frontrunner status defies rational explanation given his true stance on abortion).

That’s what makes Paul’s rise to just one per cent behind Santorum in a new Insider Advantage poll all the more impressive.

In Defense of Libertarians (being libertarian and being Republican are not mutually exclusive)

American Thinker ^ | 01/12/2012 | Rachael Williams

Posted on Thursday, January 12, 2012 7:55:31 AM by SeekAndFind

Throughout the primary election season there’s been a group unfairly villainized by the rest of the Republicans. Not the establishment (they can’t be villainized enough for giving us McCain and trying to keep folks like Rand Paul from getting elected in 2010) — I mean libertarians.

Republicans like to villainize libertarians for infiltrating their party — but refuse to acknowledge that being libertarian and being Republican are not mutually exclusive. I wish someone had told me, but apparently all self-identified libertarians are the same caricature of Ron Paul supporters who refuses to debate and instead just shouts “Neo-con! Neo-con!” at everyone with whom he disagrees.

I’m not what you’d call a “Ron Paul libertarian”; I don’t think he’s the end-all, be-all personification of what a libertarian is or what libertarians must believe to fit the title. Love him or hate him — which seem to be the only two options — I’d like to believe that everyone on the right can admit that Ron Paul has brought the mainstream of the far right a little closer to libertarian beliefs. Without Ron Paul, you wouldn’t have candidates like Rick Perry and Rick Santorum pushing for trillions of dollars in spending cuts, nor would they be promising to outright eliminate regulatory agencies.

What if elections don’t matter? Judge Andrew Napolitano

January 12, 2012 4 comments

What if Democrats and Republicans were two wings of the same bird of prey?

What if elections were actually useful tools of social control? What if they just provided the populace with meaningless participation in a process that validates an establishment that never meaningfully changes? What if that establishment doesn’t want and doesn’t have the consent of the governed? What if the two-party system were actually a mechanism used to limit so-called public opinion? What if there were more than two sides to every issue, but the two parties wanted to box you in to one of their corners?

What if there’s no such thing as public opinion, because every thinking person has opinions that are uniquely his own? What if public opinion were just a manufactured narrative that makes it easier to convince people that if their views are different, there’s something wrong with that – or something wrong with them?

What if the whole purpose of the Democratic and Republican parties was not to expand voters’ choices, but to limit them? What if the widely perceived differences between the two parties were just an illusion? What if the heart of government policy remains the same, no matter who’s in the White House? What if the heart of government policy remains the same, no matter what the people want?

Why eligibility doesn’t matter to politicians

January 12, 2012 2 comments

Like most other states, the commonwealth of Virginia has election laws designed by the legislature to ensure only qualified candidates get ballot positions.

In the GOP primary election of 2012, only Ron Paul and Mitt Romney qualified by following the procedures, which include getting enough petitions signed in every county of the state.

In short order, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, a resident of the state, and even states-rights champion Rick Perry were filing U.S. lawsuits challenging Virginia’s power to run elections the way its lawmakers wanted to run them.

Meanwhile, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, normally a constitutionally minded lawyer, announced he would file emergency legislation that would allow any presidential candidate receiving federal matching funds or qualified to receive them to get on the ballot.

In other words, the rules for the election are changing in the middle of the game. The state created legislation that was noted by two candidates who took the trouble to comply – presumably at some expense and effort. The others did not.

Now, using federal lawsuits and last-minute changes in legislation, those who didn’t take the trouble to comply with eligibility standards are being provided with an exception.

I have a problem with that.

It’s not because I favor Ron Paul or Mitt Romney. In fact, neither of them would be my choice for the Republican nomination – and I, too, am a Virginia resident and registered voter. I would like the opportunity to vote for someone who more closely represents my views.

I just happen to believe eligibility standards are important – and should be observed, enforced and amended only through normal political processes, not federal court rulings. Neither should election rules be changed in the middle of a campaign…..

Prison Planet.com » 10 reasons why even democrats, liberals and progressives are choosing Ron Paul over Obama

January 12, 2012 8 comments

It’s a seemingly absurd idea on the surface: Why would democrats and liberals want to vote for Ron Paul (a Republican) over President Obama? Maybe because they want freedom instead of tyranny, it turns out. Because if you’re a total slave to the police state, it doesn’t really matter whether you’re on the left or the right, does it?

Here, I give you ten solid reasons why even liberals and progressives are supporting Ron Paul. And by the way, I don’t worship Ron Paul or any individual. What I honor is the principles that Ron Paul stands for — the very same principles President Obama has outright abandoned in his broken promises and disturbing reversals against the American people. Out of all the candidates, only Ron Paul has the ethical and moral strength to carry out his office from a place of principle rather than betrayal.

#1) Ron Paul supports decriminalizing marijuana and ending the War on Drugs. Obama does not.

The only question is whether there was no purpose or meaning to it, or whether there was. ‘The Harbinger’ says there was, the calling of God to a nation that was departing from Him and warring against His ways – God calling America back. So it’s ultimately saying that 9/11 was not meaningless but even contained a redemptive purpose.”

He said, “The message is very different from someone just sharing their opinion that God is judging America. ‘The Harbinger’ reveals an ancient mystery, specific and precise signs, progressions, and manifestations that are now reappearing in America. The mystery lies behind not only 9/11, but the collapse of Wall Street and the American economy, the Great Recession and everything in between. It’s so precise that it ordains the exact words spoken by American leaders, and the exact dates of the greatest financial collapses in American history. It’s behind what’s happening to America right now and in exact precision. So it’s not a matter of just feeling something – it’s there. It bears its own message.”
