What Is the Point of My Libertarian Anarchism by Robert Higgs

January 16, 2012 Leave a comment

In college in the 1960s I was not a political person. Although I took a keen interest in politics, especially in the war that was raging in Vietnam, I concentrated on my studies, earning a living, and chasing women. After I began work as a professor, in 1968, I gravitated quickly from my collegiate New Leftism toward classical liberalism. As I learned more about Austrian economics, political economy, public choice, and history, I became increasingly libertarian (minarchist variety).

Prizefight to watch: ‘Obama v. Arpaio’

January 16, 2012 10 comments

The front lines of the continuing Obama eligibility battle are being fought not in Washington, D.C., or before the U.S. Supreme Court, but in Maricopa County, Ariz.

What is shaping up is an epic political battle in which the Obama White House has decided to launch a full-scale assault against local Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

In other words, the national battle on both illegal immigration and on the Obama birth certificate is rapidly coming down to a local duel that can be properly billed much like a heavyweight prizefight, as “Obama v. Arpaio.”

Moreover, it appears the White House has set February as the month Arpaio has either to comply with the Department of Justice demands, or face Eric Holder in federal court.

This is not coincidental.

February is also the month in which Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse will release it’s law enforcement report on Obama’s birth certificate and his eligibility to be president under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution.

A coordinated attack

What is additionally becoming clear is that the Obama administration, under the leadership of the DOJ civil rights division head, Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, has decided to support an Arizona-based coalition of radical open-border activists led by professional “community organizer” Randy Parraz.

Last year, Parraz masterminded the campaign to defeat Russell Pearce, the long-time president of the Arizona State Senate who is credited as being the architect of Arizona’s tough immigration law, known as SB 1070.

Hate Ron Paul? Blame the establishment

He has a solid, unshakeable base. His poll numbers are rising, not sinking. He hasn’t had to go negative. He hasn’t had to deliver a speech to get past his newsletter-induced Reverend Wright moment.Oh, and one other thing: he’s in this race ’til the finish line.

His name is Ron Paul, and you have the establishment to thank for his shocking march from the margins to something almost mainstream. In retrospect, at least, there’s really nothing shocking about it. At every step, he has been boosted up and pushed forward by the horrendous failure of the establishment to remove the real-life conditions that heighten his appeal.

Some of these failings, and their great power, have begun to inspire pieces of commentary unthinkable even two years ago.Says Charles Krauthammer of his position in the GOP: “regardless of my feelings or yours, the plain fact is that Paul is nurturing his movement toward visibility and legitimacy.

”Says Mark Steyn of his foreign policy: “deploring it is an inadequate response to a faction that is likely to emerge with the second-highest number of delegates at the GOP convention.”Says Glenn Greenwald of his embarrassment of the left:

WHITE HOUSE TO POLICE INTERNET: Holder Set to Take Control January 24, 2011

It’s like a political blindside to the American voter. Somehow, with virtually no coverage in the press, the White House has managed to close in on the unthinkable… bending online piracy laws to give the Department of Justice abusive power over the Internet.

Sound farfetched? Constitutionalist attorney Gary Kreep, President of the United States Justice Foundation (USJF), not only has a firm grasp on the legislation that would grant this authority, but he also has inside sources informing him that the Senate is scheduled to make this potential nightmare a reality when they pass S. 968 into law on January 24!

Freepers? RON PAUL. Honestly.

Freepers? RON PAUL. Honestly.VANITY | 1.16.2012 | goluxPosted on Monday, January 16, 2012 3:59:17 PM by goluxI suppose I have watched about 3 hours of Ron Paul video, and every hour I liken him more and more to an embodiment of our Founders. Yet the more I watch of Romney the more I detest, distrust.

Am I crazy, too? After years of mulling, I am beginning to see Ron Paul in a new light, and I am curious as to the opinions of my FRiends. I first came to FR long before my present ‘nic. On a search moments ago, I learned that one of his unpardonable flaws was that he did not support McCain.I have also learned that he is absolutely against abortion but that he believes that States’ Rights matter a great deal. You probably know many other things… But he is above all a straight-shooter, honest, and wildly devoted to constitutional principles. He has NEVER voted against them, which is extraordinary.

Prison Planet.com » Paul-Haters Plan KKK Stunt To Smear Congressman

Facebook activists discussed dressing up in Klan outfits as part of dirty tricks campaign to characterize Paul supporters as racist

Monday, January 16, 2012

A group of Ron Paul-hating Facebook activists were caught planning a smear attack on the presidential candidate, after they openly discussed dressing up as Ku Klux Klan members and appearing at Ron Paul campaign events in South Carolina in an attempt to frame Paul’s supporters as racists.

Members of the ‘Stop Ron Paul 2012′ Facebook group posted a thread announcing a plan to stage a false flag against the Paul campaign by dressing up in racist garb and pretending they were Paul voters.

“If you live in South Carolina and want to have some real fun with these Paulbots here is what we do- go online and buy or make your very own KKK robe, complete with hood (hood is important),” stated the post. “Then get some Ron Paul signs off the internet or make your own. Follow Paul around South Carolina and be sure to get photographed by the media. Again, hoods are important. All can be Klansmen for Paul. Black, white, Jewish, Asian- those Paulbots will shit a brick!”

Although the thread was hastily deleted, a screenshots can be viewed below.

Paul Haters Plan KKK Stunt To Smear Congressman ScottWalkerStandWithMe

Other members of the group liked the idea, with one commenting, “That is seriously a great idea! Anyone wanna volunteer???,” as another asked where they could acquire KKK robes.

When one member objected to the idea, another responded, “Why not show the world the truth about the type on ilk that supporters Ron Paul?” – a bizarre exercise in circular logic given the fact that the Paul haters planning to stage the hoax wouldn’t need to dress up as racists if there were genuine Klan members who attended Paul’s campaign stops.

Indeed, polls show Ron Paul is the most popular Republican amongst non-whites, debunking the myth that his campaign panders to racists.

The man who started the thread urging fellow Paul-haters to post as Klan members, Jere Brower, has a history of defamation-ridden anti-Paul posts, claiming the Congressman wants to “legalize child prostitution” and is “against children going to school”. He has characterized Ron Paul supporters as “clinically insane,” while also trolling singer Kelly Clarkson’s Facebook page after she Tweeted her support for Paul last month.

According to Brower’s LinkedIn page, he works for Google as a “Field Operations Specialist,” specializing in “Crisis management, social media, media relations, brand specialist, event planning, event management”. A former US Army Specialist (SPC), Brower is also a Herman Cain supporter.

Browser now appears to have deleted his Facebook profile.

New Year’s Resolution: Prevent the UN from Voting Itself Our Internet OverlordBig Government ^ | January 5th | Seton MotleyPosted on Sunday, January 15, 2012 7:39:58 PM by HalfmanhalfamazingThe Barack Obama Administration has, since its inception, been moving the United States dramatically leftward, trying to at the very least make us a western European socialist entity. Ideologically, a full-on participant in – rather than a rational outlier of – the patently absurd United Nations UN.Perhaps the greatest – and worst – example of President Obama’s UN-ing of America was his Federal Communications Commission FCC’s December 2010 illegal Network Neutrality Internet power grab. The Administration going to these unlawful lengths to commandeer control of the ‘Net makes it a little more difficult to persuade international autocrats and dictators to leave alone their portions of the World Wide Web.Or ours.Which brings us to the United Nations.

When Judged by the Content of His Character By: Dr. Jimmy T. (Gunny) LaBaume

January 16, 2012 2 comments
I hope you are all enjoying your “holiday.” I traditionally republish this essay annually to remind everyone EXACTLY what it is that “we” are “celebrating.” It was originally published in 2008 as a measure of self-defense against  Marxist 5th Column at Sul Ross State University. How that came about is explained in the text.
Also, there is an excellent recommended reading list at the bottom.
Please feel free to disseminate in any way you see fit.

When Judged by the Content of His Character (1)
by
Dr. Jimmy T. (Gunny) LaBaume
Introduction
In his famous “I have a dream” speech, Martin Luther King, Jr. hoped for a day when people would be “judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.” That is exactly what I propose to do in this essay-to discover how the speaker himself measures up against his very own yardstick.
Justification: Why this essay?
“There is probably no greater sacred cow in America than Martin Luther King Jr. The slightest criticism of him or even suggesting that he isn’t deserving of a national holiday leads to the usual accusations of racist, fascism, and the rest of the usual left-wing epithets not only from liberals, but also from many ostensible conservatives…The main reason is that they have created a mythical Martin Luther King Jr….constructed solely from one line in his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech” (1).
On the Friday before the 2008 Martin Luther King holiday, I received an e-mail message via the faculty net at the small “State supported” (the significance of that will become self-evident as I proceed) West Texas university where I teach. The message was from a friend with whom I have engaged in several amiable debates in the past. He said, in part: “On Monday the 21st, we celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His vision, peaceable message and ultimate sacrifice contributed heavily to the civil rights and freedoms enjoyed by all Americans today. Let us always remember the man and his lesson of humanity. He is truly one of my heroes.”

Welcome to the Plantation

January 16, 2012 1 comment

Much has been written about the Democrat plantation. On this Democrat plantation, it is said that today’s American blacks are slaves to the Democratic Party, much as their ancestors were slaves to their antebellum plantation masters. Then, as now, they were given scraps compared to their masters.

Then, as now, running away or any disobedience by an individual was severely punished. Conservatives who have any exposure to “conservative” media are quick to point this out. What they fail to realize is that they, too, are on a plantation…..

Timothy N. Baldwin — Sharia and International Law: Oklahoma’s Response

January 16, 2012 3 comments

By Timothy N. Baldwin, JD.

January 16, 2012

NewsWithViews.com

The New American magazine recently reported Oklahoma’s proposal of a State constitutional amendment which prohibits their courts from using “international law” and “Sharia law.” The amendment was purportedly proposed as a preemptive strike to prevent courts from ruling cases “unfavorable” to the ideas upon which the constitution of the United States was ratified. While those in Oklahoma may have good intentions, this amendment displays at least some ignorance as to the role and function of the courts as well as an overly-vague use of terms; and ironically, the amendment undermines the foundation of our country—the thing they want to save.

The Oklahoma constitution amendment proposal states…..

It’s All Been Done Before by Jeff Berwick ~ “conspiracy[kuhn-spir-uh-see] an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act.”

conspiracy[kuhn-spir-uh-see]

an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act.

I’m reading an interesting book by Gary North called, Conspiracy: A Biblical View. I generally like reading Gary North because he not only has an extremely strong foundation in Austrian economics, monetary theory, and free market capitalism, but he has prolific publications showing that the Bible is largely a doctrine supporting those principles, and specifically espouses against socialism, totalitarianism and for the sovereignty of man.

I won’t comment on the book further, but it raises what I think is a question of profound importance: Are there conspiracies? And what impact have they had on history and our current state of affairs? Conspiracies often get a really bad rap, but fundamentally understanding this question is paramount to understanding the way the world works, how we got to this point, and where we are likely headed.

If you believe there’s no such thing as conspiracy theories, it follows that the governments of men are just bumbling incompetents, or isolated and greedy individuals acting in their own self-interest (albeit on a vast scale).

Perry: Marines in video are ‘kids,’ not criminals [Obama: Ft. Hood Shooting = Workplace Violence]

….[Gov. Rick] Perry’s comments put him at odds with Sen. John McCain, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, who said the images could damage the war effort.

“The Marine Corps prides itself that we don’t lower ourselves to the level of the enemy,” McCain said when asked about Perry’s position. “So it makes me sad more than anything else, because … I can’t tell you how wonderful these people (Marines) are. And it hurts their reputation and their image.”

No one has been charged in the case, but officials in the U.S. and abroad have called for swift punishment of the four Marines. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last week that he worried the video could be used by the Taliban to undermine peace talks.

Is Ron Paul the New Lyndon LaRouche?

Commentary Magazine ^ | 1/5/2012 | Michael Rubin

Posted on Monday, January 16, 2012 2:28:12 AM by Republican Wildcat

Lyndon LaRouche was a prolific writer who developed a cult-like following and eight times, between 1976 and 2004, sought the presidency, seven times for the Democratic ticket. He wrote and spoke often about the economy and spun wild conspiracy theories. For example, he said Queen Elizabeth was a drug dealer. The Nation’s Bob Dreyfuss, a LaRouche acolyte who dedicated his first book to his former boss and had it published by LaRouche’s publisher, argued in it that Bernard Lewis, perhaps the most influential living historian of the Middle East, was a nefarious force behind Ayatollah Khomeini and Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
