Two Years After Haiti Earthquake, Where Did the Money Go?

January 17, 2012 Leave a comment

Two years after the Haiti earthquake on January 12, 2010 — which killed 316,000, injured 300,000 more, left one million homeless, and destroyed $8 billion in property — most of the billions of dollars pledged to help the island recover can’t be accounted for.

And of that which can be, precious little found its way into the hands and mouths of the Haitians themselves. Some $12 billion was pledged, including $2.75 billion from the United States, $650 million from the European Union, and the balance from 35 other countries.Much of the U.S. government’s aid was funneled through the U.S. Agency for International Development USAID, which reported that it helped build a 10-megawatt power plant and repaired and upgraded five electric power substations in Port-au-Prince, provided some $10 million in financing for 46 “micro financial institutions and financial cooperatives” and another 7,600 loans to coffee, cocoa, and mango growers. USAID rebuilt roads, irrigation systems, and storage and processing facilities, while offering “improved seeds, fertilizer and technologies to more than 9,700 farmers [who] have increased rice yields by 64 percent, corn yields by 338 percent, bean crops by 97 percent, and plantain outputs by 21 percent for beneficiary farmers.”According to the USAID report, the agency built 600 semi-permanent furnished classrooms, which allowed some 60,000 students to return to school after the earthquake.

It also helped build a temporary Parliament building to replace the one destroyed by the earthquake.

Prison Planet.com » Ron Paul Campaign Releases New Ad ‘Three of a Kind’ Challenging Rivals in South Carolina

Ad condemns serial hypocrisy, counterfeit conservatism and flip-flopping of Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney

Ron Paul 2012

January 17, 2012

The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today the release of its newest ad ‘Three of a Kind’ setting straight the records of his three main competitors Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney.

The ad condemns the serial hypocrisy, counterfeit conservatism, and flip-flopping of Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney respectively.

In the ad, Gingrich’s unpopular missteps are cited as lobbying for Freddie Mac prior to the housing market collapse, and lobbying for the individual mandate before the passage of Obamacare. Santorum’s transgressions against traditional Republican values are defined as increasing funding for Planned Parenthood, growing the national debt, and having a longstanding aversion to Right to Work. Flip-flopper Romney, for his part, supported TARP bailouts and as left-moderate Massachusetts governor provided the blueprint for Obamacare. The ad sums up the views of Paul’s three rivals by terming their approach as follows: “Three men, one vision. More big government, more mandates, and less freedom.”

The spot then describes how Ron Paul is the candidate of authentic change and how he stands apart from the economically and socially destructive policies of his competitors. It then touts the 12-term Congressman from Texas’ record of voting against every tax increase and every unbalanced budget, every time. It reminds viewers that Paul is prolife and pro-Right to Work, two policy stances crucial to South Carolina Republican primary voters, and reiterates elements of the congressman’s path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’

“At a time when Republican voters are looking for a true conservative to defeat Obama, this ad effectively makes the case that Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney do not measure up. Ron Paul, in stark contrast, is presented as the one and only authentic conservative in the race,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

A d v e r t i s e m e n t

“Ron Paul is the sole alternative to the fair-weather conservatives who grow government, increase mandates, betray the sanctity of life, destroy the patient-doctor relationship, and erode individual workers’ rights,” added Mr. Benton.

Prison Planet.com » Journalist Sues Obama Over Indefinite Detention Law

January 17, 2012 5 comments

Journalist Chris Hedges has filed a class action lawsuit against President Barack Obama over his signing of the National Defense Authorization Act, claiming that the ‘indefinite detention’ provision of the bill could see him sent to Guantanamo Bay simply for doing his job.

Journalist Sues Obama Over Indefinite Detention Law

The controversial legislation, signed into law by Obama on New Years Eve, allows American citizens to be abducted and held in a detention camp anywhere in the world without trial under section 1031.

“Plaintiff Christopher Hedges is a journalist whose profession requires, in part: 1) that he have communication with and personal and direct intercourse with persons who are likely to be deemed engaged in hostilities with the United States under the AUMF [Authorization for Use of Military Force, Public Law 107-40] and the Homeland Battlefield Bill; 2) that he travel to see and meet with such persons; 3) that he report on the activities and beliefs of such persons; and 4) through his journalistic endeavors to convey their philosophy and belief systems to the public at large,” states the complaint.

(Indiana) Senate: Citizens Should Have Right To Resist

INDIANAPOLIS — A Senate committee voted unanimously Tuesday morning in support of a bill that would allow homeowners to use force to resist an illegal police entry.

The bill comes after a controversial Supreme Court decision in May that held that current Indiana law didn’t allow homeowners to violently resist police officers under any circumstances.

The bill specifies under what circumstances police could enter a home: with a warrant, in pursuit of a fleeing criminal suspect, to prevent someone from being harmed or at the invitation of a resident.

Otherwise, a resident could use reasonable force, including a gun if necessary, to prevent entry.

(“A COUP D’´ETAT?”) ~ Who Is Behind Quashing the Birth Certificate Issue?

January 17, 2012 1 comment

A COUP D’´ETAT?

Scholars and historians have documented exhaustively the Left’s obsession with (1) the acquisition of power, and (2) transforming America from a free-market, Constitution-respecting, freedom-loving, God-embracing society into a Socialist-cum-Communist “share the wealth” collective that echoes the beliefs and “values” of their heroes Marx and Engels.

But it takes money to bring about the kind of poverty both Socialism and Communism deliver to their masses. The kind of money only a few at the top enjoy while they’d like the rest of us to wait on food lines and appear before death panels of impersonal state functionaries who decide if we’re worthy of antibiotics or surgery and, if not, convenient “go-to-sleep” pills.

The kind of money that “talks”—that can buy people off, finance revolutions, launder money, pay to rig voting machines, manipulate allies into positions of power (czars, anyone?), conveniently crash markets (as George Soros did in England in 1992, Asia in 1997, and, I believe, the U.S. in September 2008), make people disappear, make birth certificates and other vital records disappear and then make sure that an entire media, Congress and court system is terrified of “going there.”

Prison Planet.com » Ron Paul Tied With Romney As Most Electable Republican

A new CNN poll once again debunks the myth that Ron Paul is not electable, showing the Congressman tied with Mitt Romney in a hypothetical head to head contest against Barack Obama.

Ron Paul Tied With Romney As Most Electable Republican ron paul on mlk and his newsletters.img.453.302.1326747903462

“The poll also indicates Paul statistically tied with Obama, with the president at 48% and the longtime congressman at 46%,” reports CNN. “But according to the poll, the president is doing better against two other Republican presidential candidates. If Rick Santorum were the GOP nominee, Obama would hold a 51%-45% advantage over the former senator from Pennsylvania. And if Newt Gingrich faced off against the president, Obama would lead the former House speaker 52%-43%.”

Paul’s performance against Obama has improved compared to previous CNN polls taken over the course of the last year, illustrating his momentum.

The results are similar to a CBS poll last week which found that Paul was just one percentage point behind Obama in terms of a head to head run off. Aside from Mitt Romney, the poll showed that all the other Republican candidates would be beaten by Obama.

Numerous establishment Republicans have regurgitated the hoax that Paul is not electable in an effort to undermine his campaign, flagrantly ignoring polls which illustrate the exact opposite to be true.

Left and Right: by Murray N. Rothbard

Originally published in Left and Right, Spring 1965, this essay is collected in Egalitarianism as a Revolt Against Nature and Other Essays, 2nd Edition.

The Conservative has long been marked, whether he knows it or not, by long-run pessimism: by the belief that the long-run trend, and therefore time itself, is against him. Hence, the inevitable trend runs toward left-wing statism at home and communism abroad. It is this long-run despair that accounts for the Conservative’s rather bizarre short-run optimism, for since the long run is given up as hopeless, the Conservative feels that his only hope of success rests in the current moment. In foreign affairs, this point of view leads the Conservative to call for desperate showdowns with communism, for he feels that the longer he waits the worse things will ineluctably become; at home, it leads him to total concentration on the very next election, where he is always hoping for victory and never achieving it. The quintessence of the practical man, and beset by long-run despair, the Conservative refuses to think or plan beyond the election of the day.

(Internet Freedom, But For how Long?) Dead On Arrival: SOPA Shelved Indefinitely, Obama Succumbs to Pressure, Issues Official Veto Threat by Mac Slavo

January 17, 2012 2 comments

Amid significant pressure from tens of thousands of internet users and major web behemoths like Google, Facebook, and Reddit, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is, in its current form, Dead on Arrival:

Misguided efforts to combat online privacy have been threatening to stifle innovation, suppress free speech, and even, in some cases, undermine national security. As of yesterday, though, there’s a lot less to worry about.

The first sign that the bills’ prospects were dwindling came Friday, when SOPA sponsors agreed to drop a key provision that would have required service providers to block access to international sites accused of piracy.

The legislation ran into an even more significant problem yesterday when the White House announced its opposition to the bills. Though the administration’s chief technology officials officials acknowledged the problem of online privacy, the White House statement presented a fairly detailed critique of the measures and concluded, “We will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet.” It added that any proposed legislation “must not tamper with the technical architecture of the Internet.”

(“Some On The Right Hate Ron Paul”) The Stupid and the Dishonest Join the Attacks on Ron Paul by Thomas DiLorenzo

January 17, 2012 5 comments

Yet another neocon Republican establishment political hack has demonstrated ignorance, deceit, and bad manners in yet another attack on Ron Paul.

English: Author at CPAC in .

This time it is one Jeffrey Lord, a “contributing editor” to The American Spectator magazine. Writing in a January 15 article on the Philly.com Web site, Lord feigns outrage over the fact that five years ago Ron Paul told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the Civil War was unnecessary to end slavery.

Lord is being deceitful here by taking what Ron Paul said out of context. I remember Ron Paul’s appearance on that show, and the point he was making was that all the rest of the world – the British, Spaniards, French, Dutch, Danes, Swedes, the Northern states in the U.S. – ended slavery peacefully in the nineteenth century. His point was that we should have done what the British did, and used tax dollars to purchase the freedom of the slaves and then ended it forever. That, Said Ron Paul, would have been preferable to a war that ended up killing over 650,000 Americans (850,000 according the the very latest historical research) while destroying a large part of the U.S. economy. Lord is obviously ignorant of all of this history.

Lord cites my book, The Real Lincoln, to feign additional outrage over the fact that I supposedly called Lincoln a “Dictator-President.” He apparently suffered a case of the vapors when he discovered that Ron Paul listed The Real Lincoln as “recommended reading” at the end of his own book, Revolution: A Manifesto.

Cliff Kincaid — New York Times Promotes Freedom for Terrorist

January 17, 2012 1 comment

Sara Bennett, an attorney for convicted communist terrorist Judith Clark, is optimistic that her client will benefit from a New York Times Magazine article advocating her release from prison. “Did I think they did a good job for my client? Yes I do,” she said in a telephone interview. She said she is hoping for a meeting with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to ask for clemency for Clark.

A member of the Weather Underground and its May 19 Communist Organization spin-off, Clark was involved in a terrorist assault that left Nyack, New York Police Sgt. Edward O’Grady, Patrolman Waverly Brown and Brinks guard Peter Paige dead. A website, memorial and scholarship have been created in their honor.

The Times story, “Judith Clark’s Radical Transformation,” was written by Tom Robbins, a former Village Voice writer now at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism who visited Clark in prison and apparently became smitten with her. Clark, he writes, “is a model for what’s possible in prison.”

Attorney Bennett insisted that Clark has shown “genuine remorse,” a theme of the New York Times Magazine story, which also emphasizes her attendance at Jewish services in prison.

Incredibly, the Times story confirms that Clark earned educational degrees in prison, courtesy of “tuition aid” provided by the taxpayers. These degrees are also said to be proof of her turnaround behind bars.

Today, Clark claims to be…..

…..Make no mistake about it, this means the end of America as we know it, and the end of “We the people.” For centuries America has been unique among the nations because she has been a democratic republic built on Judeo-Christian values.

English: Title page of the Slovene translation...

Now America is being merged into a new form of global governance, which is no longer democratic and built on Judeo-Christian values. Instead of democracy, we will be ruled by a secular humanist or occult elite that are building up a new world order, at lightning speed all around us. History shows us the results of what happens when the Illuminati elite rule. The Communist Manifesto was an Illuminati document. In Communist Russia, Communist China and other Communist nations hundreds of millions were killed and suffered under the brutal control of godless totalitarian state.

There is a carefully concealed occult connection in the construction of these totalitarian states. The Russian occultist, Madame Blavatsky influenced Hitler, Stalin and the United Nations today. The Golden Dawn, the Thule Society, Satanist Aleister Crowley, the Bohemian Grove, Skull and Bones and countless occult leaders and groups have constructed a high-tech global matrix of power.
