Gerson’s tone is dripping with venomous hatred when he accuses Ron Paul of being some kind of nut by calling the Civil War “senseless” and of saying that Lincoln ruled with an iron fist. Generations of historians have also called the Civil War “senseless” or something similar.

“The bumbling generation” is how some historians describe the Civil War-era politicians who plunged the nation into war, the most preeminent of whom was Lincoln himself.

But when Ron Paul refers to the war in that way what he has in mind is the true historical fact that all other countries of the world…..

Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, has voiced his frustrations about SOPA, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Speaking at IBM’s annual Lotusphere conference, Berners-Lee said, “If you’re in America then you should go and call somebody or send an email to protest against these (censorship) bills because they have not been put together to respect human rights as is appropriate in a democratic country.”

SOPA is currently being held for “markup,” which means it may see some changes considering all the criticism it’s drawn.

Two large elements dominate the debate over Barack Obamas decision to re-deploy the U.S. overseas military forces: the political views of preternatural isolationists and the paucity of perspective by news presenters. The isolationists demand that all troops be brought home now. The national media are ignorant of why we have a military presence outside our borders to start with.

No news outlet I know of has presented the background that explains why the U.S. has a military presence in key areas around the world. This fuels the isolationist cause, leaving Americans to decide between re-deployment or no deployment. The issue is exacerbated in the back of the collective mind in the context of the terrific budget deficit. And our efforts abroad appear to be failures and to add to America’s bad image.

Since no one else will, let’s review the situation. Before World War I, America was allegedly isolationist, heeding George Washington’s warning not to become involved in European wars. And having established our unique representative democracy against the British empire, there has always been a strong anti-imperialist attitude in these United States. Seems simple enough, except for the reality that the U.S., well before entering the European conflict in 1917, had been quietly building an empire of its own…..

As Kurt Nimmo and Alex Jones, of Infowars fame, pointed out in an article posted today entitled “The Great Internet Wars Have Begun,” we wake up to an entirely new Internet era this weekend.Yes, a war has been joined and human history shall never be the same. For one thing, the outcome is NOT certain – and the power elite that seeks to control and constrain the Internet may yet end up taking a step back – at least in these early rounds, anyway.For another, the directed history that the Anglosphere power elite has been so clever at inculcating over the past century is gradually fading away. The matrix itself was seamless in the late 20th century – for most Western citizens anyway – and allowed the power elite to advance its fear-based promotions without fear of contradiction.Say, for instance, the elites wanted to promote global warming – in order to create a kind of “carbon currency” that they could control and trade at will. In order to do this, the elites would have to proclaim the threat, back it up with scientific studies and then legislate a response to the supposed threat.This is something that actually took place. The Anglosphere elites used their control of the scientific establishment to proclaim a phony hypothesis and then planted specially placed “scientists” at critical choke points to further control the dialogue.It turns out that it doesn’t take very many people to control a given conversation or promote a certain campaign. In this case, by generating a cadre of global warming sycophants and putting them in charge of one of only a few “global warming” scientific journals, the elites could virtually create a scientific consensus where none existed.Once the elites had manufactured a phony global warming meme via “peer approved” articles in complaisant journals, the elite-controlled media was turned loose to trumpet the supposed findings. And once the articles were written, elite-controlled UN agencies created white papers from them that could be used as calls-for-action.These white papers were in turn picked up by elite-funded NGOs that began to foment full-fledged socio-political campaigns to “crack down” on global warming “polluters.” Vast UN conferences filled by elite-proxies hand-picked politicians were organized as well to agitate for worldwide legislation to “control” global warming…..

Dr. Marc Faber the Swiss fund manager and Gloom Boom & Doom editor has taken ultra bearishness to a new level. He remains negative about the outlook for the world because policy makers in Europe and the US are trying to solve the crisis created by too much debt and leverage with even more credit and leverage. Eventually when interest rates go up, he says, the cost of financing the failed monetary policies will become burdensome and will ultimately bring a big bust.

He sees a shift in economic and military power from West to East and is increasingly convinced that the end game will be war. But, so far, he had avoided giving a time frame to the war scenario. Not any longer.

Dr. Faber was amongst 10 investment experts assembled by Barron’s last week at the Harvard Club of New York for the Barron’s 2012 Roundtable. The members of the Roundtable discussed the economy, China, Europe, market volatility, investment picks and World War III.

“On an optimistic note, World War III will occur in the next five years,” Faber announced to the other members of the Roundtable, in his characteristic contrarian manner.

“That means the Middle East will blow up,” he said, without providing any details about specific countries.

When this happens, “new regimes there will be less Western-friendly,” he reckons.

“The West has figured out it can’t contain China, which is rising rapidly and will have more military and naval power in Southeast Asia,” he explains.

The only way for the West to contain China is to control the oil tap in the Middle East, Faber argued.

The prelude to war will be a “big bust that will see the end of credit expansion,” he said in a recent interview. But before this happens, “governments will continue printing money which in time will lead to a very high inflation rate, and the economy will not respond to stimulus”.

Unfortunately, the federal government refuses to secure our borders and is allowing new waves of illegal immigrants to enter the United States every single day. A substantial number of those illegal immigrants end up involved in these gangs. Yet the federal government just stands by and allows it to keep happening. One day, the foolishness of this policy will be evident to all.

RUSH: Let me tell you, I mentioned this yesterday, I mentioned this some time ago.

There are rumblings in the Republican establishment of a brokered convention now.

There is unsettledness and disquietedness in the conservative establishment, quote, unquote, in the Republican establishment, quote, unquote.

Both camps have prominent people who are unhappy with the way all of this is shaking out.

And they talked about it on Scarborough’s show today on PMSNBC.

For the conservative establishment it’s Newt.

“Oh, no, we don’t want Newt. We gotta do something about Newt.”For the Republican establishment, they’re getting a little queasy about Romney.

I think the term is brittle.

That’s the term Scarborough used, that the establishment is concerned about what a brittle candidate Romney is proving to be.

Force Science Institute: Cops Deserve Better Post-Shooting Treatment Than Civilians

Ray Meyer [not shown] was a sergeant for the California Highway Patrol. The ex-cop emailed the Force Science Institute (FSI) a question that’s been rattling around my head for a while: why should cops get special treatment after a shooting? FSI’s run dozens of articles on how to protect cops’ legal rights and mental well-being after a shooting, from how not to interview them, to the officer’s need for not one but two night’s sleep before providing their sworn statement. Now that he’s retired, Ray wonders how he’d be treated if he’s involved in a DGU (Defensive Gun Use) . . .

We always treat the officer involved in an OIS [Officer Involved Shooting] as if it’s a good shooting. Assume a citizen involved in a shooting has a concealed firearms carry permit or was acting in self-defense on his own property and based on his initial statement and initial review of the evidence the shooting appears justified.

What would you do if the citizen says he’ll give you his firearm when he gets another one on and he tells you he will provide a full statement after he gets 2 sleep cycles and has his attorney present?

Do you give him a ride home to change clothes before taking him to the station for questioning and/or letting the press see him? Whatever you do for an OIS, would you do the same for a legally armed citizen? Is a team like an OIS team assigned, or are the on-call homicide detective and the standard CSI crew used? Should we care when a citizen with a concealed firearm carry permit is involved in a self-defense or threat-to-life shooting?

Over to you, Dr. Bill Lewinski, executive director of the Force Science Institute [above]. Dr. Bill reckons cops involved in OIS get worse treatment than civilians brought in after a DGU. And that ain’t right.

What if Obama wins, again?

Many a pundit, not to mention Republican presidential candidate, have suggested the 2012 election is the most important in American history.

I believe that, too.

Defeating Barack Obama is a very important and challenging goal. I agree with those who suggest we won’t even recognize America after four more years with him occupying the White House. Every American who truly loves the country and its unique place in history should be working diligently and prayerfully to see that he is replaced next November.

But, dare I ask, what if we fail?

What if that billion-dollar war chest, plus ACORN-style dirty tricks, a media in the tank and a less-than-ideal Republican challenger combine to give him another four years?

What if a Donald Trump jumps into the race to divide the opposition vote?

Is there a Plan B for saving the country?

What’s our fail-safe mechanism?

Is there a backup option?

Or do we just all kiss America as we have known it goodbye?

I actually have such a plan. I’ve been working on it for a year and will be working on it for another year. But I need your help – badly.

There is another way to begin returning America to constitutionally limited government even if Obama wins.

It involves forcing Republicans to live up to their rhetoric. If grass-roots Republicans from coast to coast do this one thing, we can actually deprive Obama, in a second term, from destroying the American Dream. In fact, we had the opportunity last year.

Had House Republicans listened to the American people – including 85 percent of the Republican base, 70 percent of the independent base and even more than 50 percent of the Democratic base – in 2011, they could have prevented half of the damage Obama inflicted on the country. In fact, they could have assured that Obama wouldn’t have any more money to throw away on destructive programs and forced him to spend all of his time cutting existing programs, departments and agencies. All they had to do was freeze the debt limit – a decision that could not be vetoed, reversed or challenged in any way.

And the American people would have applauded and handed Republicans the presidency and the Senate this fall.
