“An ass-kissing little chickenshit…I hate people like that.”
Admiral William Fallon talking about General David Petraeus
Give credit where credit is due. This week General Petraeus fully understood his role when he came to Washington.
His costume was dazzling, bedecked with nine rows of fruit salad and a fine collection of qualification badges. His spit shined shoes creaked with excitement, but his expression was as firm as his comb-over hairdo, and he was ready.
Chuck Baldwin — New Hampshire Officially Recognizes Jury Nullification
One of the last (and very best) true investigative journalists is William Norman Grigg. I have admired his work for years. A report he recently wrote was covered by one of the very best
(if not THE BEST) newspapers in the country, The Eau Claire (Wisconsin) Journal. Grigg writes, “When New Hampshire Governor John Lynch signed HB 146 into law on June 18, the Granite Statebecame the first in the nation to enact a measure
explicitly recognizing and protecting the indispensable right of jury nullification.

A retired U.S. Army colonel who now teaches modern warfare to soldiers at the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. has co-written an article with a Civil War expert that has ignited a firestorm today among those increasingly concerned about what some say is a distinct anti-civilian tone that has infected much of the military and Homeland Security since 2009.
Foxes Guard Hen House With New W-2 Reporting Requirement
The 2010 health care bill includes a requirement that employers report on each of their employees’ Form W-2s the cost of health insurance they sponsor on behalf of that employee. This requirement was made optional for tax year 2011 when it officially went into effect, and will be optional for small businesses those with fewer than 250 W-2s in tax year 2012.

This requirement was made optional for tax year 2011 when it officially went into effect, and will be optional for small businesses those with fewer than 250 W-2s in tax year 2012.ATRF AnalysisThe IRS has waived the W-2 reporting requirement for tax years 2011 and 2012 because of confusion surrounding the provision. This is understandable, because employers usually use Form W-2 to report salary and wage payments to the IRS so that they can be withheld and taxed appropriately. In a changeup from the form’s usual function, the new reporting requirement does not levy a tax on employees’ health benefits. Instead, its stated justification is to convey to employees the value of their health insurance, and to identify taxpayers who run afoul of the Individual Mandate tax and 40% “Cadillac” tax on “comprehensive” health plans.Taxpayers should be uncomfortable with the implications of the W-2 reporting requirement, which portends higher taxes in the future. Reporting the value of employees’ health benefits opens the door to new taxes on these benefits in the future.

Betty Freauf — Crisis in America and the Self Esteem Movement
…..Additionally, Bill O’Reilly on his 7/23 show reported the attorney for the Holmes family in San Diego commented the mother said, “You have the right person, I’m his mother.” Did the call come in the middle of the night? Did the mother fear something happened to her son? The media again conveniently left off the “I am his mother,” which suggested the mother may have been fearful something of this nature would happen.
Senator Karen Johnson — Contempt for the Media
When candidate Obama was found to have associated with domestic terrorist Bill Ayres, the media pretended it wasn’t so. Not wishing to appear stupid, the public accepted the denials. When discrepancies appeared in Obama’s birth record, the media denied it and demonized anyone who pursued the story.
Disarming America... (“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste")

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” Those are the words directly from the mouth of
Rahm Emmanuel, uttered in 2009 while he was Barack Hussein Obama’s Chief of Staff. Although Emmanuel is gone from the White House, that sentiment, or perhaps more accurately described as a tactic, remains.

It's taken more than
200 years, two world wars, an industrial revolution, and the dawn of the Internet, but the United States once again finds itself at the mercy of an intolerant king.
Instead of a tax on tea, King Barack Obama and his Democrat Knights of the Fast Food Table seem intent on imposing a penalty on chicken -- but not all chicken.

In the late innings of the health care fight President Barack Obama told a joint session of Congress, "we did not come here just to clean up crises," even one as big as the Great Recession.

.....The United States is now facing its greatest Constitutional crisis since the Civil War. As Abraham Lincoln asked, will a nation conceived in liberty and a government of the people, by the people and for the people perish?
The 2012 election is the most important in U.S. history, but not for the reasons either the Republican or Democrat Parties would have you believe because there is little difference between them.

Wikipedia locks possible VPs’ pages
Tech President’s Micah Sifry, who introduced the idea that Wikipedia revisions could help predict Mitt Romney’s selection of a running mate, reports that Wikipedia has put a lock on the pages of the leading veep candidates following a segment on the topic by Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert.
The pages of Tim Pawlenty, Rob Portman, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie and (following yesterday’s Drudge bump) David Petraeus have been locked after Colbert, citing a Fox News report about the jump in revisions to Sarah Palin’s page in 2008, encouraged viewers to “go on Wikipedia, and make as many edits as possible to your favorite VP contender.”
On Monday, I endorsed Sifry’s thesis; on Tuesday, I tried to refute it, arguing that the number of Wikipedia revisions did not account for random edits by individuals who had no bearing on the veep selection. Clearly, I should have also pointed out that the number of citizen editors would increase as Sifry’s thesis gained publicity.
But the question now is: Will Wikipedia open the pages in time for the Romney campaign to make edits? While I still think Sifry’s thesis is flawed, the campaign will almost certainly try to clean up the Wikipedia page of Romney’s VP before the announcement is made. That is, if they can get past the administrators.

Over 100 Million Now Receiving Federal Welfare
A new chart set to be released later today by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee details a startling statistic: “Over 100 Million People in U.S. Now Receiving Some Form Of Federal Welfare.”
The Real Origin of the Tea Party Movement
I recently read with joy a conservative blogger’s attempt to connect the TEA party movement to its historic roots; a topic I have been meaning to write about for months now. The blogger rightly said that the “the historical precedent for the TPM wasn’t the Tea Party event in Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773.” I actually uttered an “Amen, brother!” He went on to describe the Continental Association established on October 20, 1774 by the First Continental Congress in response to the Intolerable Acts.
To War or Not to War | Veterans Today
Will Obama wage more wars or won’t he? He’s already fighting multiple direct and proxy ones. November elections approach. Electoral priorities dictate policy.
On the one hand, Americans are fed up with wars. More risks offending supporters who want current ones ended. Holding back gives Republicans a campaign issue. Acting tough against alleged enemies sometimes sells well. Smart money says not now.
Americans Endorse Right to Bear Arms, But Half Call for Stricter Gun Laws
More than seven-in-ten respondents believe the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle should only be used by the police and other authorized persons.
Nine-in-ten Americans maintain their views on the Second Amendment, but a majority of gun owners and non-gun owners alike believe that the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle should only be used by the police and other authorized persons, a new Angus Reid Public Opinion poll has found.
The online survey of a representative national sample of 1,010 American adults also found that support for the “shall-issue” prerogative to carry concealed weapons in public has increased over the past six months.
Would the US Military Stand Down and ‘Empower a Revolution’ If Faced With Riots and Civil Unrest? by Mac Slavo…
Among the many inconsistencies with what’s playing out in the middle east is the question of what our President and Secretary of Defense would ask our own military to do if political protests, riots and violence erupted here in the US. Both seem to suggest that the leaders of these middle eastern countries, as well as their law enforcement and military apparatuses, should stand aside.
Would the President of the United States, if faced with riots, molotov cocktails, and gun fire outside of the Capitol building or White House allow the military to “empower a revolution driven by unmet political and economic grievances” of the people?
Estimates suggest that Mubarak resigned amid as many as 2 million protesters in the streets. This is about 3% of Egypt’s population.
If the United States saw similar turnouts at Federal and State government buildings, would our leadership resign without a fight as well? Are we to believe that the same logic being used to compel dictators in the middle east to step down would be applied domestically if the people, in a public show of protest, deemed our government to be tyrannical and it’s leaders dictators? Moreover, does this mean that any such civil disobedience, riots, and gunfire would be ignored by military and law enforcement, who would be ordered to, as Mr. Gates suggested to Syria, stand on the sidelines?
We’d like to believe it is that easy, except we live in a little place we like to call reality.
