Here’s one I received a few years ago from Marine Jim Ratliff, now deceased.

About four or five years ago when I was new to the net, I was soliciting stories for my Marine Vignettes/Tales Of The Corps webpages. I got an e-mail from Jim about that time, and he advised that he was then putting out a newsletter for H-3-5 News which was his old company from the Korean War days. His hands were full already w/the newsletter, but his newsletter contained many stories from H-3-5 Marines; and he invited me to post the stories to my webpages, if I would like to do so.

I e-mailed Jim back, “you bet, I want them!
I did post many of the H-3-5 stories, and they are still on Gunny G’s…for anyone who would like to see them. Jim had been successful in rounding up many of the Marines and Navy Corpsmen from his old H-3-5 days.

Many Republicans seem ready to agree to Obama‘s demands for tax increases — after all, elections have consequences, and he won, right?

 

Maybe, but before agreeing to anything, the GOP should probably look a little more carefully at just who elected Obama.

They pointed out that uncommitted voters inevitably break for the challenger in the final moments. They said it’s all about voter turnout, and concluded Republicans were much more likely to show up at the polls. This should not have been a close election. All things considered, Barack Obama should have been easily defeated, especially by a challenger so experienced and imminently competent as Mitt Romney. Now that the contentious campaign is over, there will be calls for reconciliation and unity, but they will fall on deaf ears. The divisiveness fueled by four years of class warfare and petty politics is not likely to heal anytime soon. And now that Obama has been given four more years, unencumbered by political considerations, he is free to impose his radical ideology with reckless abandon. It will only expand the schism. Any hope of reuniting the country vanished with Tuesday’s election. We all want a prosperous America, but there are dark days ahead for the country. Obamacare remains intact, and most Americans will be stunned at the resulting higher costs and lower quality of care. Small businesses will curtail hiring because of its impact. Scandals like Solyndra, Fast and Furious, and Benghazi will remain buried. More will occur.....

Something is very wrong in the world when the most dogmatic and inflexible president in recent memory can make unreasonable demands of his GOP budget opponents and yet be confident they’ll be blamed for the impasse.

 

It is past time Barack Obama be held accountable for his intentionally irresponsible fiscal policies that are guaranteed to take us into national bankruptcy. It is outrageous enough that he is steering us into insolvency, but it is unbearable that he’s fraudulently blaming the Republican Party for it to boot.

 

This is not a close call, and reasonable people, if they understood the facts, would not support Obama.

 

 

 

The problem is that so many people who trust him, inexplicably, look no further than his disingenuous statements and the liberal media’s slanted reporting, and the Republican Party leadership simply cannot seem to get its message across.

Congress Considers Taxing Internet Sales

Some Republicans are siding with Democrats around the proposition that online sales should be taxed. Now, Congress is adding a rider to the National Defense Authorization Act that would allow such a tax. The so-called Marketplace Fairness Act, which also has a House counterpart, the Marketplace Equity Act, will allow states to collect sales taxes on retailers who are located out of state.

This would be a fundamental expansion of states’ power to tax; it arguably violates the privileges and immunities clause, allowing states to set up tariffs against other states’ businesses…

 

End the war on terror and save billions…

As we debate whether the two parties can ever come together and get things done, here’s something President Obama could probably do by himself that would be a signal accomplishment of his presidency: End the war on terror. Or, more realistically, start planning and preparing the country for phasing it out.

For 11 years, the United States has been operating under emergency wartime powers granted under the 2001 “Authorization for Use of Military Force.” That is a longer period than the country spent fighting the Civil War, World War I and World War II combined.
