Is the Day of the Lord near?
Within a few years, I got a chance to interview Lindsey for a story I wrote in the Los Angeles Herald Examiner detailing the remarkable success of that book and some of his sequels. It turned out that Lindsey’s books on Bible prophecy made him, far and away, the best-selling author of the decade.
Forget Mayan calendar, here’s what’s coming
As Dr. Larry Spargimino of Southwest Radio Church puts it in his foreword: “Tomorrow is already here, unfolding in current events that amazingly line up with the prophecies of the Bible.”
Although this book is one to help people prepare for various coming scenarios, Spargimino pegs it with his (and Terry’s) ultimate point of preparation: “We know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure” (1 John 3:2–3).
Old Testament prophecy fulfilled before our eyes?
What do sycamore and cedar trees have to do with biblical prophecy, the tragic events of 9/11 and the imminent future of the United States?
The roots of a sycamore tree at Ground Zero felled on Sept. 11, 2001, have been preserved as a memorial to the event in New York City. A local messianic rabbi believes it’s a visible fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy about God‘s current judgment on America.
‘Left Behind’ author sees Bible all over disaster
“The Bible tells us in Matthew 24 that one of the signs of the last days – one of the birth pangs to occur – is an increase in earthquake activity and intensity,” LaHaye told WND. “We’re seeing that happen here.
‘s not just earthquakes, but hurricanes and all kinds of natural disasters.”Indeed, in Matthew 24:4-14, Jesus tells His disciples in response to questions about His second coming and the end of the age:Story continues below “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”All these are the beginning of sorrows.”Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.”And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
LaHaye, an evangelical pastor, has written more than 60 non-fiction books on a wide range of subjects such as family life, temperaments, sexual adjustment, Bible prophecy, the will of God, Jesus Christ, and secular humanism with over 14 million in print, some of which have been translated into as many as 32 foreign languages.
