UPDATE: We’ve been contacted by police chiefs and other groups or individuals who want to be counted among the valiant as well! Look for their list after the sheriffs.

The following sheriffs, state sheriff’s associations, and police chiefs have vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution against Obama’s unconstitutional gun control measures. We applaud these public servants for their courage and conviction.

Open letter to Chief James Johnson Baltimore County Maryland PD

January 30, 2013 2 comments

Chief,

I was down at the station working out this morning, running on the tread mill. While I was running I was watching you testifying to the committee regarding gun control. I got so angry I decided to write you a letter. Since I couldn’t find an e-mail address for you I decided to vent a little frustration here in hopes my thoughts will be viewed by someone who can forward them to you.

As I watched your admiring glances and fawning praise of Sen. Feinstein, I couldn’t help but immediately notice how much you two resemble one another. If you were to put on a wig, some glasses and lipstick you could pass for her twin. Uncanny.

After trotting out young children as the backdrop for his gun control rollout yesterday, the White House released videos today of young children reading anti-gun letters to the camera.

“No guns, no guns, no guns, no guns!” pleads one little girl, Hinnah. “My opinion is it should be very hard for people to buy guns,” says little Julia.

“I was pleasantly surprised when I heard him take a comprehensive approach,” said Carlsbad police Chief Gary Morrison. “I liked the way he talked about the medical community and the impact of video games on kids, and money to law enforcement and schools to craft emergency response plans.”

What If 20% of the Adults in That Colorado Theater Had Been Armed and Trained?

July 23, 2012 Leave a comment

I have a question.

If 20% of the adults in that Colorado theater had been armed with a handgun and trained in its use, how many people would have died in addition to the shooter?

I think the answer is clear: fewer.

Witness: Someone Let Gunman Inside Colorado Movie Theater

AURORA, CO — A man who was at the Colorado movie theater where a dozen people were killed this morning, says he saw the gunman.

He says he thinks someone deliberately let the gunman inside once the movie started.

Here’s what he told TV station KCNC this morning live on their newscast.

Expanded coverage

“As I was sitting down to get my seat, I noticed that a person came up to the front row, the front right, sat down, and as credits were going, it looked like he got a phone call. He went out toward the emergency exit doorway, which I thought was unusual to take a phone call. And it seemed like he probably pried it open, or probably did not let it latch all the way. As soon as the movie started, somebody came in, all black, gas mask, armor, and threw a gas can into the audience, and it went off, and then there were gunshots that took place.”

Police arrested 24-year-old James Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, for the shootings.

Erica Carle — Sociology is Not a Science

June 15, 2012 1 comment

Sociology is not a science. It is a system of strategies being used to reach a particular goal.

What is that goal?

“the entire systematisation of human life on the basis of the preponderance of the heart over the intellect.”

Auguste Comte

Auguste Comte (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

That is what Auguste Comte, the father of sociology, revealed in 1851 in the preface to the first volume of his System of Positive Polity

He repeated this thought in the dedication that followed to the memory of his love, Clotilde De Vaux, stating the essential purpose of his work was:

“to systematize human life as a whole on the principle of the subordination of the intellect to the heart.”

Later, he explained:

“ . . . what is meant is, that the intellect should devote itself exclusively to the problems which the heart suggests, . .” SPP. P. 15

That’s it! That is basis for the whole sociological dictatorship. Suggest problems for emotional involvement and demand the intellect devise social solutions. It can turn any personal problem into a social problem, a social problem into a national problem, and a national problem into an international problem belonging to all humanity. Social science treats life as a series of problems for ‘society’ or united ‘Humanity’ to solve. When all the problems the social scientists can concoct from any part of the world become social problems for the WORld Management System (WORMS) to solve, the sociological dictatorship will be complete.

The basic tactic for turning personal problems into social problems is to promote otherism. To be otheristic one must abandon all thought of self and think constantly of the problems of others. The French word Comte coined to explain this concept is “altruism.”

In his Catechism of Positive Religion he explained further:…..

WHEN I’M ELECTED SHERIFF…By: Dr. Jimmy T. (Gunny) LaBaume

WHEN I’M ELECTED SHERIFF…

As you may have heard, we had a massive “round up” by Federal, State and Local Jack Booted Government Thugs in Alpine yesterday. Some two dozen people were arrested based on a “secret” grand jury indictment for various “victimless crimes” (which are not crimes at all) in which no body’s person or property had been damaged or harmed in any way.

Yesterday evening on the Communist Broadcasting System’s local yokel Channel 7, they paraded some little skinny, bald headed DEA puke who strutted around saying stupidly ridiculous shit like “life is much safer in Alpine now.” You gotta be shittn’ me!

The Government War on Lemonade (Beware those conniving grade-school entrepreneurs)

August 5, 2011 Leave a comment

There’s no more poignant symbol of American childhood than the lemonade stand, evocative of long, lazy summer days and pie-in-the-sky entrepreneurial dreams.

It inevitably was a subject for a Norman Rockwell print, with a brassy kid confidently hawking cups for 5 cents each. If Rockwell were to update the image today, he might have to include an officer of the law nosing around the stand to ensure its compliance with all relevant ordinances.

In various localities around the country this summer, cops have raided and shut down lemonade stands. The incidents get — and deserve — national attention as telling collisions between classic Americana and the senseless pettifogging that is increasingly the American Way. There should be an easy rule of thumb for when enforcement of a regulation has gone too far: when it makes kids cry.

Setting up a lemonade stand has always been the occasion for early lessons about the importance of hustle and perseverance, and some business basics — like location, location, location. It shouldn’t be the occasion for dealing with the unreasoning dictates of The Man.

Police in Coralville, Iowa, a few weeks ago conducted a sweep and shut down three lemonade stands, some within minutes of their opening. The offenders had started their renegade operations the weekend of an annual bike ride across the state. The town requires vendors to have a permit during the days of the event. None of the perps did, including one four-year-old girl who shamelessly made $4 before police intervened.

One mother said she could only laugh when the police told her the cost of a permit was $400. Uncomprehending, her kids cried. They figured only the inadequacy of their handmade signs could have made the city’s law enforcement want to put them out of business.

A Coralville civic eminence subsequently explained that the ordinance was in place to protect the health of the bike riders, who are apparently robust enough to bike 472 miles but might be felled by six ounces of lemonade.

In McAllen, Texas, two kids were shut down and their grandmother threatened with a fine on similar grounds. Audaciously, the youngsters started selling lemonade for 50 cents a cup in a park without a health permit or licensed food handlers to prepare or serve their lemony libation. Hoping only to fund the upkeep of their two hermit crabs, these two children had stumbled into a murky world way over their heads.

In Midway, Ga., three girls were told they needed a business license, peddler’s permit, and food permit to set up a lemonade stand on their front lawn. It might have taken all summer just to navigate the bureaucracy necessary to begin selling the lemonade. The chief of police explained why she had to act to protect the public from the unauthorized sale of the unknown substance purporting to be “lemonade”: “We were not aware of how the lemonade was made, who made the lemonade, of what the lemonade was made with.”

Chances are that it was made of the usual dangerous cocktail of lemon juice, sugar, and water. If children — or their parents — aren’t to be trusted to prepare lemonade, presumably people lured by the prospect of a cool drink on a hot day can calculate the risks on their own and take their pocket change elsewhere if they feel safe only with professional-quality product.

Invariably, the parents of illicit lemonade-stand vendors protest to the authorities, “But they’re just kids.” That should be a clinching, self-evident argument. But not when an unbending legalism is ascendant, and there’s a law for everything. It’s in this spirit that we pat down children in the security lines of airports. People in authority are afraid ever to be caught rendering commonsense judgments.

For now, the lemonade-stand crackdowns are a bridge too far. They usually bring cries of public outrage and embarrassed backpedaling from officials. So belly up to the lemonade stand — while you still can.

State of Arizona breaks silence on madness in ‘Nazi’-cop town

August 1, 2011 Leave a comment

The town of Quartzsite, Ariz., has been in the headlines several times lately, and a state investigation was launched after such odd reports as:

* A man was ordered to give up his guns after he allegedly “glared” at a town official.

* A woman was forcibly removed from a public town meeting by police even though the mayor pleaded her cause.

* Some sort of secret decision was made to quit paying the mayor, as police officers were wrongly being fired.

* “Several hundred” emails prompted a declaration of a state of emergency.

Now the state has taken the unusual step of releasing a statement amid its investigation, confirming there is “reasonable cause” to believe officials in Quartzsite, after getting worldwide attention by having officers forcibly remove a woman from speaking at a town-hall meeting, have broken the law.

State Attorney General Tom Horne said about his investigation of Quartzsite:

Normally, we do not release the results of an investigation until it has been completed. However, because this is a matter of unusual public interest, we are prepared to say that, based on review of a video of a July 10 meeting, there is reasonable cause to believe that there has been a violation of the Open Meeting Law, inasmuch as the public was excluded.

The meeting was held under the misconception that an emergency meeting can be conducted without the public present. Independently of the question of whether the town council had a legitimate reason to hold an emergency meeting, even proper emergency meetings must allow the public to be present. The exception is if there is a legitimate basis for an executive session, and the city council did not attempt to hold a proper executive session during the emergency meeting.

New Mexico town dissolves police dept after gun smuggling scandal

July 13, 2011 Leave a comment

The scandal-plagued, tiny New Mexico border town of Columbus is dissolving its police department and asking the county sheriff to protect its citizens.

An employee at Columbus City Hall confirmed to The Lookout that the police force has been dissolved. The Luna County Sheriff’s Office will now take over patrolling the town.

The town has been upended since federal authorities arrested Police Chief Angelo Vega, Mayor Eddie Espinoza, Village Trustee Blas Gutierrez and nine other residents for conspiring to smuggle hundreds of guns to drug cartels over the border in March. All of the accused have pleaded not guilty, and their trial is expected in October, according to the Las Cruces Sun News.

The Associated Press presciently reported in May of 2009 that a law enforcement “vacuum” had made the town attractive to drug smugglers who moved over the border to settle down in Columbus. The “four-man police force in Columbus has turned over seven times in three years because of scandal or apathy,” the AP reported, adding that more residents of the formerly modest town were driving flashy cars and buying fancy homes. Vega, who had then just nabbed the police chief job, told the AP that no illegal activity would be tolerated. “This is a new day for Columbus,” he said.

State of emergency declared in Quartzsite, Ariz.

July 13, 2011 2 comments

QUARTZSITE, Ariz. – A state of emergency has been declared in the small western Arizona town of Quartzsite after a video of a woman being arrested during a public city council meeting went viral and prompted death threats to council members.

Jennifer “Jade” Jones, a blogger and vocal critic of local government, was delivering remarks during the public comment session of a June 28 city council meeting when she was interrupted.

A video posted on YouTube shows council members interrupting her and asking her to leave or be escorted out.

The mayor of Quartzsite, Ed Foster, is heard telling officers to leave Jones alone. “Officer, that woman has the floor you are violating my rules of order,” says Foster.

In the end Jones is restrained and escorted out of the council chambers. On her blog she says her arm was injured in the fracas.

The video has sparked public outrage from some who call it a violation of Jones’ first amendment rights.

Since it went public, Mayor Foster has been ousted and Quartzsite Police Chief Jeff Gilbert has taken control of the town.
