Colin Powell on Sunday blamed the media as well as the Tea Party for the divisive political tone in Washington.
Not surprisingly, neither the class warfare stoked by President Obama and his Party nor the resulting Occupy Wall Street movement was mentioned during this seven minute interview with Christiane Amanpour on ABC’s This Week (video follows with transcript and commentary):
Don’t Let the Left Pick Our Nominee
RUSH: No, we don’t have the audio of what Herman Cain said to Christiane Amanpour. I just want to tell you what he said ’cause I got some e-mails, “Why are you getting so exorcised about this?” The reason I’m getting so exorcised about it is — and I will admit I’m exorcised about it — is not to criticize Herman Cain. Our guys are gonna have to learn at some point how to deal with these people. We’re gonna have to stop going on their shows if we’re not gonna know how to deal with them. When you are a Republican presidential candidate, I understand, they call from you ABC, the Sunday show, you go, you don’t say no. You better figure out what they’re trying to do by having you on.
It’s just like I told the Republican freshmen back in 1994. Cokie Roberts is gonna call you, she’s gonna bat her eyes at you, but she’s ticked off that you’re there. The media is not happy that you are gonna be running Congress. Their objective is gonna be to get rid of you. They’re never gonna treat you like the winners. Their buddies, their friends are the Democrats. They invite you on these shows and every moment is a “gotcha.” And our people are gonna have to learn to figure this out if they’re gonna go on these shows. What Herman Cain said, the question about the rock at Perry’s family hunting ground that they leased in ’83 I think. They started leasing it and the name on the rock identifying this hunting ground, the N-word. And so the Perry family painted over the rock, and then they eventually turned the rock over. It embarrassed ‘em. The Washington Post has this story about just the opposite. No sources, no named sources, no evidence whatsoever.
The point of the Washington Post story is that……………………

Editor’s note: This is the first of a two part series on George Soros and the media.
When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.
Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists‘ ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”
This information is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Centers Business & Media Institute which has been looking into George Soros and his influence on the media.

Breaking: Tucson Tea Party Leader Threatened At ABC Taping, Audience Member Screams: “Trent Humphries You’re Dead!”
While Trent was speaking at the event, an audience member screamed, “Trent Humphries, you’re dead!”
ABC News held a town hall event today in Tucson, Arizona. Local officials, friends and heroes were at the event. News anchor Christiane Amanpour was the host. The segment will air tomorrow. ABC gathered members from the Tucson community to discuss the tragic shooting last Saturday that wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and left 6 people dead.
State Representative Terri Proud was at the event sitting between Trent and the violent audience member. Terri was there to speak about the local gun laws. She described the scene to me just minutes ago:
Trent Humphries, the Pima County tea party leader, stood up to speak during the event. He was being very respectful. Trent told the audience that before we start placing blame on individuals we need to get all the facts. Trent then told everyone that one of those killed during the shooting was his neighbor and that he was affected like everyone else by the tragedy… While Trent was speaking- And it was planned that he would speak- One member in the audience and reportedly one of the victims of the tragedy started screaming, “Trent Humphries you’re dead!” The police immediately escorted him out. On his way out he screamed, “You’re all whores.”
Christianne Amanpour Inadvertently Exposes the Real Issue with Islam
Recently, Christianne Amanpour hosted a panel discussion meant to explore the misunderstood delineation between moderate and extremist Islam.A dichotomy is certainly brought to light in discussion, but considering Amanpour is a staunch Islamic apologist, it is probably not the one she meant to expose. She likely sought to support the notion that Islam is peaceful, and to advance the belief that only a small contingent of radicals corrupts the faith.
To those ends, she enlisted guests of Christian and Muslim backgrounds for her panel, and I’m fairly certain she expected the Christian guests to attack Islam as an intolerant faith bent on universalizing Sharia, while her Muslim guests and audience members would defend themselves as peaceful practitioners of the tolerant faith of Islam. Americans are familiar with the strategy. It’s the standard stuff that tends to make Christians look intolerant and Muslims look misunderstood. But one portion of the discussion hurls a monkey-wrench into those plans. When Amanpour addresses the ideas of Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary, she has the audacity to question his ideas about Islamic domination. Choudary proclaims that he disagrees with the entire focus of the segment, and argues that the notions of moderate Islam or extremist Islam are nonsense.
There is only Islam, whose followers “submit to the creator.” Then, in an effort to convey that Islam can live in peace with the Western world, he concludes, “We do believe as Muslims that the east and the west will one day be governed by the Sharia. Indeed we believe that one day the flag of Islam will fly over the White House.”It is obvious that his statements reinforce what some Christian panel guests believe to be the truth, and that those statements certainly don’t support the notion of peaceful and tolerant Islam. So a Muslim woman in the panel decided to take Choudary to task for his reckless and inflammatory statements, and she went on to instruct him that Islam is a faith of pluralism, and that it provides an allowance of other faiths to exist in a state of equal importance.
ABC Wages Holy War: ‘We Believe the Flag of Islam will Fly Over the White House’Video
You have to wonder what on earth ABC’s “This Week” host Christiane Amanpour is thinking by holding a so-called town hall meeting this close to a pivotal midterm election.
On the Oct. 3 broadcast of “This Week,” the brainiacs at ABC determined it would be appropriate to pitch Christian leaders again moderate and extremist Muslims.
This choice of programming comes at a time when many conservatives have chastised for being outspoken over the placement of Islamic worship center near the Sept. 11 Ground Zero site.
However, perhaps the most alarming statement on Amanpour’s program came from Anjem Choudary, a former British solicitors and Muslim cleric that spokesman for the group Islam4UK.
Choudary contends eventually you’ll see global Islamic rule, including here in the United States….
