Ron Paul’s “Disgruntled” Staffer and the Press Smear ofRon Paul ~ “the kind of “scandal” that makes one wonder if the establishment press could ever get a smear story straight”
It’s the kind of “scandal” that makes one wonder if the establishment press could ever get a smear story straight. The script is that Rep. Ron Paul is a closet racist, is embroiled in a scandal he falsely denies, while new revelations about his racism are leaking out by the hour.
Establishment reporters ever so desperately want to create this image. And just because the facts aren’t there, that doesn’t keep the mainstream media from trying. Such was the case when a disgruntled former Paul staffer blogged his disagreements with the presidential candidate, which became the following lead in the New York Daily News: “A former Ron Paul staffer says the Republican presidential candidate is ‘unsettled by being around gays personally,’” the Daily News story reported December 27, “and is ‘out of touch’ with black and Hispanic voters.”
The story’s lead paragraph seemed to fit the establishment media talking points that Ron Paul is a racist, if not anti-Semitic, person. It appears to be a follow-up to the legitimate, but minor, news about Paul’s inattentive management of newsletters that were published under his name in the 1980s and early 1990s that contained a handful of racist remarks.
But the lead disappointed. There was no fire under the smoke, just lots of mirrors. The former staffer in question, Eric Dondero, denied in the same blog post that Representative Ron Paul had ever been either a racist or anti-Semite:
A U.S. ARMY SPECIAL FORCES SOLDIER’S FIGHT FOR MILITARY JUSTICE
“Three Days In August” by Bob McCarty
U.S. Army Special Forces Sgt.1st Class Kelly A. Stewart admitted to having a one-night stand with a 28-year-old German woman the night of Aug. 22, 2008. She did, too. Both knew sex was part of the plan when they left the discotheque near Stuttgart. Two months later, however, her story changed and the highly-decorated combat veteran found himself facing rape and kidnapping charges.
During court-martial proceedings one year later, Stewart faced an Army court-martial panel comprised of soldiers who had recently returned from a 16-month deployment with the Army attorney serving as Stewart’s lead prosecutor.
Despite a lack of both physical evidence and eyewitnesses to the alleged crimes, it took only three days for the panel to find Stewart guilty of numerous offenses — including aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, forcible sodomy and assault and battery — and sentence him to eight years behind bars.
Incredibly, the conviction was based almost entirely on the testimony of Stewart’s accuser, a one-time mental patient who, with the backing of the German government, refused to allow her medical records to be entered as evidence.
When several witnesses came forward during a post-trial hearing to reveal startling proof that the accuser had lied several times during the trial, their words were largely ignored by the court and Stewart remained behind bars.

McCain Snubbed Me, 9/11 First Responder Says “If his eyes were daggers, I’d be dead”
Tow truck driver T. J Gilmartin hauled away destroyed FDNY vehicles from Ground Zero after 9/11, and now suffers diminished lung capacity and multiple breathing problems. He told the Daily News about his recent trip to Capitol Hill, where he hoped to sway Senators to vote in favor of the Zadroga 9/11 health bill, which will provide money and health care to sick first responders.
While he noted many positive experiences with most of the Senators–he called Sens. Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby of Alabama “gentlemen”–he says his interaction with Sen. John McCain R-Arizona did not go as well.
“I couldn’t get to see McCain at all,” he said. “I went to his office four times, and it was all like ‘you need an appointment.’”Gilmartin later saw McCain near an elevator in the Rotunda, and he approached the former presidential hopeful to discuss his thoughts on the bill.”I stepped in front of him, and I was very respectful. I told him who I was and I asked for his help on the Zadroga bill,” he said.McCain said “thank you for your service,” and then told Gilmartin that he couldn’t help him.He then got on the elevator, the paper said, and left.”If his eyes were daggers, I’d be dead,” he said.
“They’d all be in my heart.”
