Cleopatra Comeback and ‘The Second Coming’

2013 is ‘The Year of Cleopatra’ and ‘The Second Coming’. Michelle Obama’s new wig is a throwback to the the Cleopatra look that is supposed to be registering raves.

“Conservatives have long joked that the national press corps see Barack Obama as the second coming of Jesus Christ. Today, Newsweek—at least what’s left of it, an online product for tablets and e-readers—made it official.” (Newsbusters, Jan. 18, 2013).

 

Like the last sting of the scorpion before death, Newsweek gave its parting shot trying to immortalize Obama as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

 

Newsweek cover calls Obama’s inauguration ‘The second coming’

Although it is now digital, Newsweek celebrated President Obama’s upcoming inauguration with a “cover” that calls the event “the second coming,” an apparent reference to the return of Jesus Christ, The Blaze reported Friday.

A post at Twitchy called the cover “creepy,” while The Blaze described it as “controversial” and “questionable.”

The cover highlights an article by former editor Evan Thomas, who once compared Obama to God.

Former Newsweek editor Evan Thomas made a bizarre statement on PBS’s Inside Washington Friday.

In June of 2008 Barack Obama hinted that we had the opportunity to vote not simply for a President, but for a Messiah:

…We will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.

It took a year, but Evan Thomas was to join the Obama-as-God theme:

Alan West says that the media needs to stop being afraid of standing up to Obama. I’m thinking that Col. West has this wrong.

There are two dynamics going on here. One is that elements of the DC and NYC press corps (pronounced corpse) are in love with Obama, not afraid of him. Don’t forget that Evan Thomas of Newsweek referred to Herr Ruler as “sort of a God.” Remember also Terry Moran of ABC news who told us that Obama is so hugely wonderful and amazing that he actually had to “step down” to the White House.
