American prisoners-of-war held by communist North Vietnam during the years between 1965 and 1973 will celebrate their 40th year of freedom as a result of the release engineered by Pres. Nixon in 1973.
The Nixon Library, on the occasion of both the 100th anniversary of the president’s birth and the 40th anniversary of the formal dinner he hosted in May 1973 for recently returned American POWs, will recreate that dinner at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA, on May 24.
Hundreds of still-living POWs will attend, and several have already been interviewed by Diane Sawyer to air during the week of May 20. The first such interview will air on ABC World News (check for local stations) at 6:30 p.m., EDT, Monday, May 20 (repeated at 6:30 p.m. on May 27th, Memorial Day).

Must be the men and women sent overseas mean nothing. We’ll meet your coffin at Andrews, if there are TV cameras, but damned if we’ll come to your rescue.
That’s what we learned at Benghazi.
As details have come out in dribs and drabs, each new revelation has illustrated the uncomfortable fact that we left those men to fight and die alone.
We did not defend them, we did not relieve them, we just watched them. Our drone circled overhead, providing a real-time video feed, but it did not fire its missiles, it was not used to guide in a relief force, it just took pictures.

For most of a year, our Libyan ambassador and various members of his security detachment warned of danger and pleaded for assistance. Time and time again the people on the ground said it wasn’t safe and they needed protection. Time and time again people in Washington declined the requests. Instead of increasing our security forces there, the administration cut them.
And then the attack came.

Top US Federal Judge Assassinated After Threat To Obama Agenda… « AMERICAN BLOGGER: GUNNY.G ~ WEBLOG & EMAIL
A Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the top US Federal Judge for the State of Arizona was assassinated barely 72-hours after he made a critical ruling against the Obama administrations plan to begin the confiscation of their citizen’s private retirement and banking accounts in order to stave off their nations imminent economic collapse, and after having the US Marshals protecting him removed.

According to this SVR report, Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll was the Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona who this past Friday issued what is called a “preliminary ruling” in a case titled “United States of America v. $333,520.00 in United States Currency et al” [Case Number: 4:2010cv00703 Filed: November 30, 2010] wherein he stated he was preparing to rule against Obama’s power to seize American citizens money without clear and convincing evidence of a crime being committed.
The case being ruled on by Judge Roll, this report continues, was about bulk cash smuggling into or out of the United States that the Obama administration claimed was their right to seize under what are called Presidential Executive Orders, instead of using existing laws. The Obama administration used as support for their claim before Judge Roll, the SVR says, the seizing of all American citizens’ gold, in 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 6102, which was ruled at the time to be constitutional.
Should the Obama administration win their argument to seize their citizen’s money by Executive Order without having to abide by the law was made more chilling this past week when reports emerged from the US stating that President Obama and his regime allies were, indeed, preparing to rule America by decree since their loss this past November of their control over the US House of Representatives, and in the words of the Washington Posts columnist Charles Krauthammer: “For an Obama bureaucrat … the will of the Congress is a mere speed bump”.

Libertarian Johnson could help Romney in Nevada
While some may roll their eyes at Libertarian Party presidential nominee and marijuana-legalization champion Gary Johnson, recent polling shows that his presence on the ballot could have an effect on the presidential race, at least in Nevada.

A Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released Wednesday found President Barack Obama has a four-point lead over Republican nominee Mitt Romney in Nevada (51-47 percent). But when Johnson is thrown into the mix, the former New Mexico governor garners three percent of the vote, largely pulling voters from Obama.
“When Gary Johnson’s included he gets 3 percent and actually takes mostly from Obama, pulling his lead over Romney down to 48/47,” PPP explained. “That could be something worth keeping an eye on.”

A few hours ago, I received an e-mail from her daughter, Faith, advising me that Karoline had passed last Thursday.
I know that this lady whom I have never personally met, is in the very best of hands now. Wherever Marines are guarding those streets of Heaven, Karoline is nearby.

…..Three other men died in Marine Corps jumping accidents not related to the performance of the parachute. Two men drowned after landing in water; one at Norfolk, Virginia, and one at New River, North Carolina. The final fatality occurred when a New River trainee lost his nerve just as he approached the door of the plane.
He moved out of the line of jumpers, but his static line became tangled with the next man to go out. The non-jumper’s parachute opened while he was inside the plane and the billowing chute slammed him against the aircraft body hard enough to wreck the door and sever his spine.
The most unusual accident occurred near San Diego, California, on 15 May 1941. Second Lieutenant Walter A. Osipoff and 11 enlisted men of Company A were making a practice jump over Kearney Mesa. Everyone else had exited the plane and he threw out a cargo pack, which possibly tangled in his static line.
His parachute opened prematurely while he was still in the door of the plane; it billowed outside the aircraft and pulled him out, but the canopy and suspension lines tangled in the bundle of static lines streaming beside the transport. For a moment the cargo pack, Osipoff and his partially opened parachute were all suspended from the cable that held the static lines.

I find it interesting that the adoption of the hash-mark as an item of uniform made its entry into the Marine Corps in 1833, not as a service stripe, as it was later, but as an insigne of rank (on the fatigue uniform)–sergeants and corporals wore two stripes and one stripe respectively below the elbow.

Free speech is under fire. Online thugs are targeting bloggers (mostly conservative, but not all) who have dared to expose a convicted bomber and perjuring vexatious litigant who is now enjoying a comfy life as a liberally subsidized social justice operative. Where do your elected representatives stand on this threat to our founding principles?
On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-GA, bravely stepped forward to press this vital issue. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Chambliss decried the “harassing and frightening actions” of Internet menaces who recently have gone after several conservative new media citizen journalists and activists.
GOP Rep. Kenny Marchant of Texas added his voice, telling Holder in a statement that he is “very afraid of the potential chilling effects that these reported actions may have in silencing individuals who would otherwise be inclined to exercise their Constitutional right to free speech.” And the American Center for Law and Justice, a leading conservative free speech public interest law firm, announced it was providing legal representation to the National Bloggers Club — a new media association that has provided support and raised funds for targets of this coordinated harassment. (Full disclosure: I volunteer on the National Bloggers Club board of directors.)
The ACLJ described the importance of the case very simply: “Free speech is under attack.”

Amid a nationwide public outcry regarding the whole matter of the drownings in particular and Marine Corps training practices in general, LtGen Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller was recalled to active duty to testify at the trial regarding Marine training and tradition. Mrs. Puller protested to her husband citing previous trouble and controversy in Puller’s career. Puller told her, “…The important thing is the Marine Corps. If we let ‘em, they’ll tear it to pieces. Headquarters won’t speak up. It’s my duty to do it.”

His disappearance is rather interesting…
A Conservative Democrat, he was active in numerous civil organizations and maintained a conservative voting record in Congress. He was known for his staunch opposition to communism and believed in long standing covert efforts by powerful US groups to bring about a socialist world government.
He served as Congressman in seventh district of Georgia. He was re-elected four times and served from January 3, 1975, until his disappearance, on September 1, 1983.
An admirer of Austrian economics, he was an advocate of tight monetary policy in the late 1970s to get the economy out of stagflation. He was also a passionate advocate of laissez-faire or market based policies.

When the big rank turnover occurred in the MC, and we went from 148 enlisted ranks to 7, I was a newly minted Platoon Sergeant (1 rocker). Along with the other line Marines I took a dim view indeed of “technicians” assuming the chevrons of what had been line ranks. For instance, if a platoon of 45 Master Technical Sergeants, (3 Flat), and one Line Private was assembled, the Line Private became the platoon commander since all line ranks were considered senior to all technical ranks.
Early Christian Communism
For centuries the alleged ideal of communism had come to the world as a messianic and millennial creed. Various seers, notably Joachim of Fiore, had prophesied the final state of mankind as one of perfect harmony and equality, one where all things are owned in common, where there is no necessity for work or need for the division of labor.
In the case of Joachim, of course, problems of production and property, indeed of scarcity in general, were “solved” by man no longer possessing a physical body. The most important forerunner of Marxian communism among these Civil War Protestant sectarians was Gerrard Winstanley (1609–60), the founder of the Digger movement and a man much admired by Marxist historians.

Shortly before his suicide death last year, Admiral Boorda, Chief of Naval Operations, was the speaker for the flag officers’ mess. In his speech, Boorda reported proudly that our advanced naval technology – highly classified secret information for which a foreign nation would pay millions, and for which any spy would kill – is being voluntarily given to Red China! After the CNO’s speech was concluded, Major General John K. Singlaub, USA (Ret.), amazed and horrified, approached the admiral and expressed disbelief. After all, China is a sworn enemy of our nation and all that we represent, and is the only nation on Earth with the power to be an actual threat to our existence. Under certain circumstances, it may be justifiable to share such secret technology with an Allied Nation such as Great Britain.
But to give it to an enemy nation is suicidal madness, and an act of treason for which a member of the Armed Forces or a private citizen could be executed. According to General Singlaub, when he asked Admiral Boorda how such a thing could be justified, the admiral smiled uneasily and said, “It is the President’s … the administration’s policy.” Nothing in the Clinton administration “just happens,” and I assure you that nothing of significance happens (at least not more than once) without the knowledge and personal approval of Clinton himself. Nothing.

I wrote this earlier and wanted to republish since I will be debating the Articles versus the Constitution tomorrow in Yuma, Arizona at the 2012 Freedom Library Annual Awards Ceremony Debate. The issue gets more critical year by year because the Constitution may very well be one of the most clever anti-freedom documents crafted by man in the Western world.
As a result of a crafty and thorough propaganda campaign, a document that purports to support limited government and peaceful human activity has done exactly the opposite in such a gargantuan fashion that one is aghast so many people can still be deluded by the premise and continue to be bamboozled by its promise.

Admiral Fallon On The USS Saratoga During USS Liberty Attack…was born in East Orange
He Was A Carrier Pilot On The Saratoga Fallon was a young US Naval Officer serving aboard the US Aircraft Carrier Saratoga in June, 1967, when Israel launched a surprise war against its Arab neighbors.
He saw the valiant F-4 Phantom pilots rocket off the Saratoga to save the crew of the USS Liberty, only to return 15 minutes later.

Gunny G: And So, The Question Arises As To Just When Communism/Socialism Came To America?
I have seen many stories and claims as to when and where Communism, or Socialism, first reared its head here in the good old USA, but lately, I have noticed, there seems to be increasing information on this topic that may tend to confuse the issue somewhat. Much of this information has been around for a long time, but gone unnoticed by myself and apparently most others as well.
About the first time most Americans heard of communism, myself included, was during The Senator Joe McCarthy thing back in the late ’40s. Of course, information on Socialism was available long before that, but I suspect few paid much attention to it.
Not that long ago an article appeared by Alan Stang titled Republican Party Red From The Start… The article emphasized that the Republican Party had been influenced by Marxists beginning shortly after many of them from the 1848 revolution in Europe had immigrated to America. This was by the early 1850s just prior to the election of Abraham Lincoln.
By the Civil War, many of these had found their way into government positions, including the new Union Army; and most of them were sympathetic to Northern politics, and unfriendly to the Southern cause.
Anyway, Stang’s book sparked my interest and I soon found other books on this topic, i.e., the “forty-eighters,” Lincoln, socialism, big government, etc.
In addition to Stang, there are books /and online articles by such authors as Dr Thomas DiLorenzo, Al Benson and Kennedy, Clyde Wilson, etc.–real eye-openers!
LewRockwell.com has a listing of numerous authors who write regularly on these, and related topics, with online archives for each writer.
Karl Marx, surprisingly, had become acquainted with Horace Greeley, and in 1851 he became a writer for Greeley’s New York Tribune, and this continued for about ten years. And so the ideas of Marx himself had its foot in the USA doorway at that time.
And so, I was surprised by this information not only that such things had occurred, but that so little, apparently, was known of this. I had read before where writers had made reference to some form of socialism being practiced by both the Puritans and Pilgrims way back in the colonial days of our country, and the Indiana Connection, but, again, little attention was paid as being at all relevant to modern times Communism.
Communism, by the way, can be loosely known by many names, including Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Marxism, Leninism, etc. And many more names too, but for purposes of my little spiel here the above will do.

The term “Perfumed Prince” caught my eye on the Net in relation to to David Petreaus the present CIA Director.
Previously, I had only seen “Perfumed Princes” used by the late retired Col David Hackworth, USA, a decorated hero of several wars, and a prolific writer.
In fact,over the years, I have posted several or more of Col Hack’s writings to my own GunnyG’s sites, forums, and blogs.
I will attempt to find some of his old articles, and others, for posting here.
