On August 1, 2009–just seven months into President Barack Obama’s first term–former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin predicted Obama would attempt to leverage health care to “take away” the Second Amendment rights of Americans.

In a speech to National Rifle Association members in Anchorage, Alaska, Palin said Americans should be “wary” of this “tie-in” because Obama would attempt to “take away our rights under the guise of some new health care plan”:

 

And by the way, [with] health care being so big in D.C. right now, be wary when some kind of tie-in occurs. Because it will crop up: a tie-in with guns in an attempt to take away our rights under the guise of some new health care plan. You know that this is coming–that the two issues will somehow crop up and they’ll be tied together. So we have to be very wary of that.

In a stunning exercise of raw, unconstitutional power, Barack Obama now tells people of faith that their rights do not come from God, as guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence and the First Amendment to the Constitution, but rather from him. The right to practice one’s religion is now codified in the so-called Affordable Care Act of 2010, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Last week, Obama announced that religious organizations would be required to include birth control and abortifacient devices and medications in the health care plans they provide for their employees. When it became clear that America’s Christian leaders would not stand for this, Obama is said to have “backed down.” In reality, he did no such thing.

What the president did was to call a press conference to announce his “compromise.” Rather than religious institutions being forced to provide these services directly, Obama decreed, their insurance companies would be compelled to do so — at no cost to the employee.

While making the rounds of the Sunday talk shows, White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew said, in essence, that insurance companies should be happy to give these services away “free” since it costs less not to have babies than it does to have them. As for the president, he clearly believes his power to dictate such things under Obamacare trumps the Constitution’s authority to stop him.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration on Monday said $1 billion of federal funds allocated in last year’s health reform law will go toward innovation programs designed to boost jobs and improve patient care.

The announcement is the administration’s latest attempt to show that it is working outside of a deeply divided Congress to create jobs.

The administration will award grants in March to people who come up with the best ideas to lift care and save money for those enrolled in the federal healthcare programs Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Nearly Half of U.S. Lives in Household Receiving Government Benefit

Families were more dependent on government programs than ever last year.

Nearly half, 48.5%, of the population lived in a household that received some type of government benefit in the first quarter of 2010, according to Census data. Those numbers have risen since the middle of the recession when 44.4% lived households receiving benefits in the third quarter of 2008.

The share of people relying on government benefits has reached a historic high, in large part from the deep recession and meager recovery, but also because of the expansion of government programs over the years. (See a timeline on the history of government benefits programs here.)

Means-tested programs, designed to help the needy, accounted for the largest share of recipients last year. Some 34.2% of Americans lived in a household that received benefits such as food stamps, subsidized housing, cash welfare or Medicaid (the federal-state health care program for the poor).

Another 14.5% lived in homes where someone was on Medicare (the health care program for the elderly). Nearly 16% lived in households receiving Social Security.

High unemployment and increased reliance on government programs has also shrunk the nation’s share of taxpayers. Some 46.4% of households will pay no federal income tax this year, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. That’s up from 39.9% in 2007, the year the recession began.

(Sep. 10, 2011) — Jobs, jobs, and more jobs.. Then there’s health care, and the start of the football season. Just by listening to any radio sport call-in talk show, you’d come away convinced that the third pick in the second round was either the biggest mistake in human history or the most brilliant decision that mankind has ever made. I’ve often thought if these guys would put a tenth of their energy into solving the world’s problems that they put into their critiquing the game of football, all of our problems would’ve been solved the day after, say, the Bears shut out the then-to- be-Lions in 1932. Think of it, thousands and thousands of brains just thinking about world peace, world hunger, world population management, the future needs of clean energy, instead of millions of brain-hours deciphering the route of the tight end in the third quarter of last night’s game: did the receiver turn the wrong way or was it an interception by a defensive genius?

I don’t know for sure, but it is my belief that after I die, I don’t think I’ll be in any position to care one way or the other who will make the wild card team this year in the Central Division, or any other, for that matter. As I said, I may be wrong, but let’s say that I’m right, and if that’s the case I won’t be caring about my health care or about the summer job availability for inner city teenagers.. My concern won’t be on the well-being of my worthless 401k, or, sad to say, my neighbor’s sick colt. So what should I do? Should I be concerned about planning for a comfortable retirement or maybe start a new business? I know the perfect location for a laundromat, because our washing machine just went kaput. Or should I be concerned about staying alive, maybe making my continued existence my Number One top priority? Here’s a bit of wisdom; I don’t know if you’ll take it or not, but when your life could very well be on the line, you are not weighing the advantages of a chocolate mousse over a scoop of vanilla with a wafer………………………

Most Americans Still Have No Idea What the Health Care Law Does

It’s now been more than a year since President Obama signed the much-debated—and much-maligned—Affordable Care Act, and even longer since the details of the bill dominated the airwaves. It seems all that time has taken a toll on our memories. A new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that the number of Americans who understand what’s in the health care bill is declining.

The Hill points out that last summer, 72 percent of people polled were aware that the new law will provide financial assistance to people who must buy insurance on their own, rather than getting it from an employer. Now, that number is down to 58 percent. While two-thirds of respondents last year knew the law expands Medicaid, fewer than half know that now. Just 29 percent knew that the law eliminates copays for some preventive services, and half said the law did not provide that benefit—despite the Department of Health’s recent announcement that it would require plans to make birth control and other women’s health services copay-free.

This is what happens when sweeping legislation takes years to be enacted; most provisions of the health care bill won’t take effect until 2014, though some have already taken effect. But major parts of the bill, like the individual mandate or the elimination of annual limits for insurance coverage, are still years away from being put into practice.

Given this astounding gap, can you blame people for hating “Obamacare” when all they hear about is the president getting sued for the law being unconstitutional, or businesses planning to drop coverage from their plans? Nancy Pelosi may have gotten a lot of heat for saying “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it,” but it turns out she’s right. We won’t be able to judge public opinion on the Affordable Care Act until Americans tangibly feel its effect.

“The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on Tuesday that it has awarded $28.8 million to 67 community health centers with funds from the Obamacare health reform law.

Of that $28.8 million, “approximately $8.5 million will be used by 25 New Access Point awardees to target services to migrant and seasonal farm workers,” Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Spokeswoman Judy Andrews told CNSNews.com. HRSA is a part of HHS.

Andrews said that grant recipients will not check the immigration status of people seeking services.

“Health centers do not, as a matter of routine practice, ask about or collect data on citizenship or other matters not related to the treatment needs of the patients seeking health services at the center,” Andrews said.

Further, the grant recipients are required to serve “all residents“ who walk through their doors.

Sustainable Health: Are You Ready to Be Forced into Health Prevention

Did you think that Obama care and Agenda 21 were not interwoven? The word “sustainable” appeared at least a couple of times in the Summary. The document is quite lengthy, 125 pages.

The National Prevention Strategy is not just concerned with addressing the leading causes of death and disability in the United States (heart disease, cancer, stroke, chronic respiratory diseases, and unintentional injuries), but also with “preventable behaviors—including tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical activity, and excessive alcohol use.” These priorities have to align with Healthy People 2020 initiative:

* Eliminate health disparities (euphemism for spreading the wealth)

* Promote healthy development and healthy behaviors across life stages (who decides what is and is not healthy, sounds very controlling and totalitarian)

* Create social and physical environments that promote good health (are we going to be moved to some Elysian Fields, the land of milk and honey?)

* Interventions will reach beyond the health care and public health sectors to include activities that influence health in areas such as:

o Housing

o Transportation

o Food and nutrition

o In-school and outdoor education

o The workplace

o The environment”

If this is not Orwellian enough, required by the Affordable Care Act, the President established an Advisory Group on January 26, 2011 when he appointed 13 people as members, adding two more members on April 8, 2011. Some of the members are doctors; however, the majority are bureaucrats. This advisory group gives guidance to members of the National Prevention Council.

I think people are missing the main point of Obamacare’s alleged “death panels“: Obama has forfeited any claim to moral authority in pursuit of his so-called health care reform.

It is indisputable that the thrust of Obama’s push for Obamacare was that too many Americans were being denied access to medical care, and that health care “should be a right for every American.”

He obviously believes insurance companies let his mother die in refusing to cover her medical bills because of her pre-existing condition.

So, Obama concluded, as a matter of morality and legality, there should be universal access to health care among Americans. Anything less is immoral.

Rep. Jack Kingston, a Georgia Republican, leaned forward in his seat at a Wednesday armed services appropriations hearing and practically begged the Pentagon’s top health care official for tips on how to explain a proposed hike in military retiree health care fees to constituents and the news media back home.

“There is this pressure for free health care for life for veterans,” explained Kingston, who represents many veterans in his Savannah area district. Jonathan Woodson, the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, replied that “Congress never meant for the health care benefit” for 5.3 million military retirees and their family members “to be entirely free.”

The exchange illustrates how difficult it is for legislators on Capitol Hill to make even minor changes to military budgets that have come to be seen as largely untouchable – even a small adjustment to a copayment requirement in a health insurance program that has turned out to be a sweet deal for military pensioners.

Members of the military can retire after 20 years with a full pension and heavily subsidized health care for life. It is one of the chief drivers of rapidly rising military health care spending, which has tripled in the past decade to more than $52 billion a year.

WASHINGTON — If Florida leaders refuse to carry out the new national health-care law, Uncle Sam is prepared to take charge on behalf of the state’s consumers.

One year after President Barack Obama signed the health-care overhaul into law, federal officials are urging Florida and other reluctant states to shape it to meet their needs and to take advantage of millions of dollars of federal planning grants. Failure to participate, officials warned this week, means a loss of state control.

Florida and other states, for example, must show by 2013 they are set up to provide a health-insurance exchange, an online service for consumers to compare coverage plans and shop for affordable rates. If states are unwilling or unprepared, the law requires U.S. officials to step in and make a federal-run exchange available for residents at the start of 2014.

But Florida Gov. Rick Scott — backed by fellow Republicans in the Legislature who strongly oppose “ObamaCare” — has refused $2 million in federal planning money and ordered state agencies not to implement the law. In addition, Florida has challenged the law in federal court, in a lawsuit filed before Scott was elected in November.

Barack Obama, despite his grandiosity and narcissism, did not bring this awful state of affairs upon us suddenly last spring, though he probably tells himself this when lovingly gazing at his image in the mirror each morning. We’ve been letting our freedom slide away for decades, and, if we don’t watch it, death panels, as predicted by former GOP Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin, will be the norm, quite soon.

Denying expensive federal medical care to granny or grandpa, on a case by case basis, is the swiftest way to go for Washington pols that always look for the easy way out when it comes to “cutting” the federal budget. The death panels will balance the budget on your back, and grandma and grandpas backs, literally.

Trillions and trillions created and spent and yet the suffering endures.The health-care bill is also a source of American public anger. People are not deceived into believing that whatever reforms we are getting are going to fix the problems of the current system; they will make them worse.

As it is, the freedom remaining in the system is the only reason that the system serves us at all. Take that away, and you take away a lifeline.The revolt, then, is in high gear. It’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last. The governed have long been very unhappy about the government, and they periodically wake up and seek to change it. The Biggest Target is Liberalism

The 2010 election is not simply a campaign against Obama. It needs to be a campaign against liberalism as a whole.Obama remains the major target, and he deserves the honor.

No president in my lifetime has been as incompetent, as obtuse, or as polarizing. There’s a particular type of incompetence that involves applying serious energy and diligence to doing the wrong thing. Obama is the master of this style of governance.

Sure, he passed his stimulus bill, his health care plan, his financial regulatory act — all of which are loathed by the country at large and all of which, without exception, are guaranteed to make the problems they’re designed to address worse. The stimulus stimulated nothing. Health care costs have risen 20% since O’s grand triumph. The regulatory bill addresses precisely none of the problems that led to the recent slump.

Obama’s obtuseness is evident in the endless vacations, the bowing and scraping before assorted potentates, his leaping into events the Gates imbroglio, the Ground Zero mosque, this latest sideshow act with the backwoods wrestler…uhh, pastor that are none of his business, and his continual rhetorical fumbles. A week doesn’t go by without a new addition to the list, his whining that his critics “talk about me like a dog” being only the latest.

Quick, hand me that newspaper… A president must be a center of calm and poise amid the whirlwind of events. Obama is usually just another piece of flotsam.

Several Persian Gulf War vets reported that they were ordered to take experimental vaccines during Operation Desert Shield or face prison.

Most researchers cite radioactive poisoning from depleted uranium shells as the deadliest element in the Gulf War Illness “cocktail.” In the 1991 war the Pentagon fired more than 340 tons of DU projectiles at targets in Iraq and Kuwait. More than a half million Gulf era veterans are on medical disability. It was in 1993 that a group of twenty four affected soldiers went to a leading expert on radiation and found they had many times the “safe” level of toxic depleted uranium in their bodies.The military of course continues to deny the connection of depleted uranium to the returning vet’s illnesses, but so many were sick that in 2007, President Bush signed legislation for a newly mandated study. I have my doubts of the outcome simply because the government rarely takes responsibility for their crimes against the citizens and military personnel. However, in 1996, the DOD admitted that Desert Storm soldiers were exposed to chemical agents.

Hundreds of thousands of military personnel during the last seventy years have been involved in human experimentation and other intentional exposures conducted by the DOD, often without a service member’s knowledge or consent. In some cases, soldiers who consented to serve as human subjects found themselves participating in experiments quite different from those described at the time they volunteered.

It took Obama less than 18 months to transform a historically vibrant U.S. economy to one that has been paralyzed by his shock-and-awe economic policies. The U.S. economy has little or no private-sector job growth, nearly 10% unemployment, a high rate of underemployment, no wealth creation and a heavy dose of government control.

This administration has been relentless in its push to transform an economy that was based on growth, wealth creation and personal responsibility to one characterized by wealth-sharing, government control and slow growth. Obama succeeded in what he wanted for the U.S. economy.Obama signed the crown jewel of his U.S. economic transformation — the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — on March 23 of this year. Constitution “Silly Stuff,” Says Illinois Congressman

Democratic Congressman Phil Hare, who caused outrage earlier this year when he told constituents who asked him about the legality of the health care bill, “I don’t worry about the constitution,” has sparked fresh consternation after he was caught on camera in an Illinois hotel labeling the founding document of America “silly stuff”.

Video confrontations with arrogant and dismissive Congress members uploaded to You Tube have come to represent the angst of the Tea Party movement, as elected representatives betray disdain and sometimes even open hostility to the rule of law that they are supposed to uphold on behalf of their constituents.The latest example was provided by Illinois Congressman Phil Hare, who was asked on camera about his previous response to a question about Obamacare during a meeting with constituents, in which he told the audience “I don’t worry about the Constitution on this to be honest.”

The new clip shows a citizen asking Hare, “Where in the constitution does it say that you can force people to buy health care?” to which Hare responds, “Oh boy, we’re not going there again are we?”Watch the clip below.

It took less than a month for the default leadership style of President Obama to appear. How long will it take for the forgotten man who believed in him to awaken to the consequences?

Millions of votes cast by the forgotten man helped elected Barack Obama. Many among those postulated that, if elected, he would govern from the center. Some conjectured that he would, once in office, distance himself from the most liberal in his party, and convert his campaign promises into more moderate actions. He would, many a forgotten man thought, bring a refreshing breeze of bipartisan collegiality to a redundantly strident political environment.
