New York City police officials intend to expand the already extensive use of surveillance cameras throughout town. The plan, unveiled Thursday, comes as part of a drive for increased security around the US following the Boston Marathon attack.

DENVER — After another eight hours of debate, the Colorado Senate passed five Democratic gun control bills Monday.
The fifth and final vote came after four hours of discussion of House Bill 1224, a ban on high-capacity magazines of 15 rounds or more, which passed on a vote of 18-17.
Two Democrats, Sen. Lois Tochtrop of Thornton and Sen. Cheri Jahn of Wheat Ridge, joined Republicans in voting no.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has fought against smoking, big sugary drinks and salty food during his tenure, is setting his sights on a new foe: Styrofoam.
Bloomberg plans to use part of his Thursday State of the City address to push for a ban on Styrofoam food packaging. He also will call for initiatives that would increase the number of parking spaces for electric cars and begin recycling more plastics and food waste

CAUTION!
THE NON-TRUTH ZONE !!!!!
In New York, we have a prequel of what’s to come – the repeal of the Second Amendment and summary criminalization of peaceful citizens merely for possessing the means of self-defense, even in their own homes. As in Great Britain, citizens of NY face prison if they use proscribed weapons against murderous thugs – even in their own homes. The tyrants Michael Bloomberg and Andrew Cuomo have made their decision. Now New Yorkers will have to make theirs. And so will the rest of us – if, as seems likely, the federal tyrants succeed in issuing a New York-style fatwa that applies to the rest of the country. Which brings us to the question:
What will you do?
Gabby Giffords launches group to counter gun lobby
A national initiative aimed at curbing gun violence was launched by former US. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, on Tuesday — the second anniversary of the shooting that killed six people and left her critically injured.
A new campaign website, Americans For Responsible Solutions, promised to “launch a national dialogue and raise funds to counter influence of the gun lobby.”
The couple last week visited Newtown, Conn., where a gunman opened fire in an elementary school, killing 20 children and six adults in December. They also met with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a gun control advocate.

Giffords’s husband rips NRA for defiance in response to killings
The husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords ripped the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Friday for a press conference that defied “common sense” and defended “extreme pro-gun positions.”
“Gabby and I are extremely disappointed by the NRA’s defiant and delayed response to the massacre of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School,” Mark Kelly said in a statement.
“The NRA could have chosen to be a voice for the vast majority of its own members who want common-sense, reasonable safeguards on deadly firearms, but instead it chose to defend extreme pro-gun positions that aren’t even popular among the law-abiding gun owners it represents.”

Prison Planet.com » Lanza, Bloomberg, Obama, guns, psychiatric meds, and mass hypnosis: the TV script
Mayor Bloomberg is leading the charge to take away guns in the wake of the Newtown child murders. The pressure is on.
Apart from grandstanding, which Bloomberg knows how to do, this is all about deflection from the main event: the killer himself.
Last night, I watched network coverage, wherein, of course, the anchors were in Newtown, standing n the street, “trying to make sense of the whole thing.”
If they’re so interested, along with the public, in figuring out why Adam Lanza killed all those children, you would think, with their enormous resources, they would find out who Lanza’s doctor-psychiatrist was in five minutes and ask him about his patient.
Of course, that’s sacred ground. Patient-doctor confidentiality.
Experts: Courts Likely to Uphold New York Soda Ban
Legal challenges to New York City’s ban on sodas larger than 16 ouncesare unlikely to be successful, and the ban could spark similar moves in other cities around the country, according to experts.
Thursday, after the city’s board of health formally prohibited restaurants from selling sodas larger than 16 ounces after March 12, 2013, organizations around New York City said they would consider suing the city to get the ban overturned.

While the federal government is arming itself to the teeth against conservatives
The recent deluge of attacks against the second amendment were completely predictable in the aftermath of the Colorado massacre,
but what perhaps wasn’t so expected was the fact that a lot of them have come from so-called Republicans.
Although normally aligned with the right to keep and bear arms, over the last week numerous self-proclaimed conservatives have proven themselves to be wolves in sheep’s clothing.
The most recent rhetorical assault on gun rights came yesterday courtesy of Reagan appointee and so-called intellectual anchor of the Supreme Court’s conservative wing, Justice Antonin Scalia.
Time To De-Bloombergize New York City by S.M. Oliva
In response to the Aurora movie theater killings, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued an extraordinary statement.
A longtime opponent of the right to self-defense, Bloomberg told a CNN interviewer that police have a moral duty to rebel against the civilian population if they don’t cede their remaining gun rights to the state:
I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say, ‘We’re going to go on strike. We’re not going to protect you. Unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.’
This wasn’t a political argument for “gun control” legislation. Bloomberg went on national television and demanded a military coup against a civilian government he deems insufficiently authoritarian. Like Adolf Hitler before him – and yes, I’m going there – he used the Aurora mass murder as a call to arms for his own version of the Beer Hall Putsch.
Outrage Is Not an Argument
Hours after last Friday’s massacre in Aurora, Colo., New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg demanded that the two major parties’ presidential candidates explain how they plan to prevent such senseless outbursts of violence.
“No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them concretely,” Bloomberg said in a radio interview. “What are they going to do about guns?”

Prison Planet.com » Bloomberg’s Soda Ban: Do as I Say, Not as I Do
Ah, the hypocrisy of the Left. Former Vice President Al Gore travels the world in a private jet to lecture everyone else on reducing carbon emissions. First Lady Michelle Obama tells people to eat veggies while she and her husband consume burgers, fries, cheesesteaks, and ice cream. And New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, trying to ban super-sized sodas on the theory that doing so will curb obesity, gives away free soda in unlimited quantities to employees of his media conglomerate, Bloomberg L.P.
“We” are Being Brainwashed With this Simple Two-Letter Word
“Excuse me,” I asked, “but who exactly is ‘we’…? I certainly didn’t come into this world born with a burden prevent obesity. And I’m pretty sure nobody else signed up for it either.”

The big news out of New York City these days is Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s proposed ban on the sale of soda drinks over 16-ounces (about 1/2 liter) at restaurants, movie theaters, sports stadia, street carts, fast food chains, etc.
America’s Moral Schizophrenia…
schiz·o·phre·ni·a – a state characterized by the coexistence of contradictory or incompatible elements.
By now most people have heard about New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg’s battle to ban Big Gulps in the Big Apple. According to the Bloomberg’s Health Commissioner, Thomas Farley:
We have a crisis of obesity. People often go with the default choice, and if the default choice is something which is very unhealthy and is feeding into that health crisis, it’s appropriate for the government to say, “No, we think the default choice should be healthier.”

A Controlling Two-Step…
How did America’s free and opportunity laden society produce these endless authorities who deems as their purview our total lives?
I mean, who died and left this crack pot mayor in New York City with not only the keys but a deed over everyone’s personal conduct? His latest outpouring of unbridled authority came with his assessment that, “The percentage of the population that is obese is skyrocketing. We’ve got to do something.” This man is in need of a permanent “time out.”
While this trespass into our private affairs is infuriating and obviously over the limits of any elected office, his mindset personifies the degree of control which is in store for our Country if these elitists continue to be elected………..

Call them what you will: “Stand Your Ground” or “Castle Doctrine” laws. Mayor Bloomberg and members of Congress, speaking on the House floor, go so far as to label them “shoot first” laws.
This is a gross exaggeration — a slander, in fact, against legislation designed to reform a flaw in our treatment of self-defense. Earlier statutes affirmatively required potential victims to retreat as much as possible before using deadly force to protect themselves, sometimes putting their lives in jeopardy.
Bloomberg flips out after TheDC asks question about bounty on Zimmerman [VIDEO]
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg told The Daily Caller that he is outraged that TheDC would bother to ask a question regarding the $10,000 “dead or alive” bounty that the New Black Panther Party has issued for George Zimmerman.

Bloomberg spoke at the National Press Club Wednesday about the Trayvon Martin case and “stand your ground” laws and became visibly upset when TheDC asked him about the bounty on Zimmerman.“I don’t know that to be the case,” Bloomberg retorted about the bounty. “Anybody who puts a bounty on somebody else’s life is acting totally inappropriately. I’m sure it’s illegal, must be illegal. I’m outraged to even be asked the question. Whadya think?”“I didn’t even know about it until you just told me, thank you very much,” he said angrily. “I appreciate the information.

Van Jones offered a prediction Wednesday for those who have been watching the Occupy Wall Street movement: “You haven’t seen anything yet.”
The former Obama administration “green jobs czar” — an ardent supporter of the Occupy movement since its inception — said in an interview with CNN that the movement is ready to evolve into the areas of politics and policy-making, much like the Tea Party did in 2010.
“You’re going to see an evolution now as you go from protests, keep the protests, but now expand into politics,” Jones said. “And if you thought there was an earthquake in 2010 when the Tea Party moved into politics, wait until this 99 percent movement moves over into politics. You haven’t seen anything yet.”
Ticket-Fixing Is Old-Fashioned Corruption
Last month sixteen cops were arrested for their alleged roles in a wide-spread ticket-fixing ring within the NYPD, and some attempt to downplay the charges as mere professional courtesy rather than egregious criminal behavior.
* * *
The failure of many police even to comprehend the seriousness of the ticket-fixing allegations perhaps is emblematic of a culture of corruption within the NYPD, and could explain a broad array of more serious misconduct allegations that has plagued the department in recent months: planting drugs on innocent people to meet arrest quotas, covering up crimes in some cases and making false arrests in other cases as favors to friends, and smuggling guns, shaking down drug dealers or robbing others for fun and profit.
Bloomberg to OWS: Congress caused the mortgage crisis, not the banks
By this time, everyone should be aware of the federal policies that precipitated the housing bubble and its collapse — the push by Congress and two administrations to push higher-risk lending in order to expand home ownership, as well as the effort by Congress to get Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to spread that risk through mortgage-backed securities. While Wall Street made the situation worse by developing risky derivatives on those securities and failed to recognize the risk inherent in the securities themselves, the collapse wouldn’t have occurred at all had the federal government not intervened to distort lending for their own social-engineering goals.
Michael Bloomberg tried to explain that to Occupy Wall Street protesters this morning, and pointed out the contradiction between their protests and their demands:
Look whose relative just got $135.8 million energy loan
The sister-in-law of John Podesta, President Obama’s influential White House transition director, served as the lobbyist for a wind power firm that was just awarded a $135.8 million loan guarantee from the Department of Energy.
The company is Brookfield Asset Management. It boasts a board of nine directors, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg‘s long-term girlfriend.
The Energy Department‘s promise to Brookfield marks the latest in controversial massive alternative energy loans to companies with strong ties to the Obama White House and to top Democrat lawmakers.

Last month, the grant was finalized to build the 99 megawatt Granite Reliable wind project in New Hampshire’s Coos County, making it the state’s largest wind plant.
Seventy-five percent of the new wind project is owned by BAIF Granite Holdings, which was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.
Since 2009, Brookfield has been represented by the lobby firm Heather Podesta and Partners, LLC.

Why Did This Happen? by Thomas DiLorenzo
Having created an economic depression, the same government then threatened the end of the world as we know it unless we all acquiesced in giving trillions of dollars to the financiers of the Democratic and Republican parties, the big Wall Street banks. More than 70 percent of the public opposed this according to opinion polls which, during the presidential campaign, were treated as Holy Gospel by the media and Washington elite. When billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sued the Fed to learn who, exactly, the money was given to, the federal courts essentially gave him a great big middle finger and told him to get lost.
During the 1970s many American pundits ridiculed the British practice of bailing out failing industries because it caused “the British Disease,” i.e., a grossly inefficient and uncompetitive economy. Subsidizing business failure breeds more failure. We are now doing the same thing, but many orders of magnitude greater. The most egregious example of this disastrous policy is the billions of tax dollars promised General Motors and Chrysler and their productivity-destroying unions.
