Focus on the network evening news. This is where the staging is done well.

First, we have the image itself, the colors in foreground and background, the blend of restful and charged hues. The anchor and his/her smooth style.

Then we have the shifting of venue from the studio to reporters in the field, demonstrating the reach of coverage: the planet. As if this equals authenticity.

The managing editor, usually the elite anchor, chooses the stories to cover and their sequence.

The anchor goes on the air: “Our top story tonight, more signs of gridlock today on Capitol Hill, as legislators walked out of a session on federal budget negotiations…”

Schlockumentary filmmaker Michael Moore isn’t pleased with the level of outrage or support for stronger gun control following December’s massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

 

To gin this up further, he wants someone to release the pictures of the slaughtered children:

 

I believe someone in Newtown, Connecticut – a grieving parent, an upset law enforcement officer, a citizen who has seen enough of this carnage in our country – somebody, someday soon, is going to leak the crime scene photos of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. And when the American people see what bullets from an assault rifle fired at close range do to a little child’s body, that’s the day the jig will be up for the NRA. It will be the day the debate on gun control will come to an end.

President Obama’s response to the mass murder in Newtown, Connecticut, reeks of opportunism and hypocrisy. It was, is, a callous, coldblooded, heartless effort to take advantage of a horrific event for political gain.

Prior to the mass murder in Newtown, Obama and the Democrats paid lip service to the issue of gun control in the U.S. and basically ignored it and stayed as far away from it as possible because there was no political advantage in taking it on and because taking it on could have hurt them substantially politically.

 

Virtually as soon as the first shot was fired Obama and the Democrats tugged on the nation’s heartstrings and began advocating for gun control as loudly and forcefully as they could. Not only was that callous, coldblooded and heartless, it was also transparent and despicable…taking advantage of childrens’ deaths for political purposes…it doesn’t get much lower than that.

It’s a small yet simultaneously big distinction. Firearms for use by the military are able to shoot continuously with one pull of the trigger, machine-gun style. Civilian firearms, on the other hand, only allow one shot per trigger pull.

Satanism in Connecticut, specifically Newtown, has been one I’ve often heard. It was only a few months ago when a friend came to me with tales of further satanic atrocities perpetrated in Newtown as told to her by a local nun. Once again the shadow of Lucifer‘s wing had apparently darkened the skies over this innocent hamlet. This was a respected nun at a well known school. If she too could fall under the sway of these rumors, then indeed they could not be ignored. Understanding the obvious connection between a woman of the cloth and satanic sensitivity, this was still a person of irreproachable reputation. And she was not alone.

But by limiting their discussion only to shootings, they ignore the worst school massacre in U.S. history which wasn’t a shooting at all.

So said President Obama in words of comfort in Newtown. The president was right to speak of evil, but mistaken when he called the massacre “senseless.”

For this was a premeditated and purposeful act of mass murder, and the devil that did it knew exactly what he was doing and why.

 

When he put four bullets into his mother’s head while she lay in bed, Adam Lanza wanted her life ended along with his. When he headed for Sandy Hook Elementary, with the Glocks and Bushmaster rifle, he knew he would encounter no armed resistance.

Mayor Bloomberg is leading the charge to take away guns in the wake of the Newtown child murders. The pressure is on.

Apart from grandstanding, which Bloomberg knows how to do, this is all about deflection from the main event: the killer himself.

Last night, I watched network coverage, wherein, of course, the anchors were in Newtown, standing n the street, “trying to make sense of the whole thing.”

If they’re so interested, along with the public, in figuring out why Adam Lanza killed all those children, you would think, with their enormous resources, they would find out who Lanza’s doctor-psychiatrist was in five minutes and ask him about his patient.

Of course, that’s sacred ground. Patient-doctor confidentiality.

Nancy Lanza began hoarding such items because she feared that the financial crisis was going to bring about the end of civilized society.

She reportedly became ‘obsessed’ with guns and taught Adam how to shoot, but on Friday he turned on her and blasted the woman to death while she laid in her own bed.

Law enforcement sources told the Hartford Courant that she had not gotten up – and could have even been asleep – when her son killed her.
