Charleston Voice: Why Christians Should Not Recite the Pledge of Allegiance
by Laurence M. Vance
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.”
There are three holidays that cause otherwise sound-in-the-faith evangelical, conservative, and fundamentalist Christians to lose their religion.
I am referring to Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Veterans Day.
One of these holidays doesn’t even have to fall on a Sunday for some churches to go wild with celebration.
Are We In the Final Days of Marijuana Prohibition?
“There’ a rising tide of acceptance of the fact that people are going to smoke marijuana, and it’s like the prohibition against alcohol in the 1930s. There’s a recognition that perhaps the laws are causing more harm than the drugs themselves,” says Rick Steves, author and travel host.
Steves and others attended “The Final Days of Prohibition” conference in downtown Los Angeles in early October. The conference was put on by the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), and Reason TV was on the scene to ask about the future of marijuana laws in the U.S., particularly in the upcoming election where the states of Oregon, Washington, and Colorado all have marijuana legalization initiatives on the ballot.
Romney Camp Removing Rules Committee Members

Prison Planet.com » Oregon Officials Use Fear to Coerce Parents into Vaccinating Their Children
In Oregon, parents have opted out of vaccinating their children in such large numbers that researchers are growing concerned.
A new study concluded that infants on alternative immunization schedules are growing from 2.5% in 2006 to 9.5% in 2009.
While fewer babies in the Northwestern state are being vaccinated, parents are being admonished to stick to the recommended schedule of regular vaccines.
The Oregon ALERT Immunization Information System, used to track children born between 2003 and 2009 in Portland, Oregon found trends displaying anti-vaccine attitudes from parents in this metropolitan area.
53,000 Dead Voters Found in Florida
I have learned that Florida election officials are set to announce that the secretary of state has discovered and purged up to 53,000 dead voters from the voter rolls in Florida.
How could 53,000 dead voters have sat on the polls for so long? Simple. Because Florida hadn’t been using the best available data revealing which voters have died. Florida is now using the nationwide Social Security Death Index for determining which voters should be purged because they have died.
Bill Ayers to University Students: America‘s ’Game Is Over‘ and ’Another World’ Is Coming
Bill Ayers spoke at the University of Oregon last week on the subject of teaching and organizing for “social justice.” His speech was not free of the radical sentiments he is well-known for espousing (especially in the company of America’s youth). Case in point: he spoke of the end of America, a new world, and what our role ought to be in all of it.
Almost as interesting as Ayers’ speech itself, perhaps, was how the leftist radical was introduced by the university students. One girl, who described herself as a doctoral student at the university, spoke of the privilege they would have with their honored guest, in an “evening [of] radical imagination.”
Two others, an associate professor at the university and a graduate student, remarked: “Most of us have in one way or another acknowledged the sovereign authority of the U.S. government– or the state of Oregon– in order to be here tonight, either admission to the university, applying for a job, or just paying the parking meter. We have not, however, asked permission of the [Native Americans] whose ancestral home this is, and to fail to acknowledge that this remains disputed territory would in effect be taking sides, [and] reinforce the erasure of indigenous history and indigenous peoples.”

Recently eight duly elected and active Oregon and California county sheriffs’ addressed, in a public forum, federal and state intrusions upon the unalienable rights of their citizens and the unconstitutional (illegal) incursions of warrantless state and federal endeavors in their jurisdictions. By their testimony these fine sheriffs’ verbally documented the assault on sovereignty and the abridgement of individual rights by the despotic strives that they have personally witnessed.
Most disturbing was the fact that federal encroachments were aided and abetted by state politicians who were willing to bargain away state sovereignty and the exclusive right to local control in exchange for federal dollars; a disturbing development given that states ought to employ a barrier against unconstitutional federal trespass upon the personal liberties of their people.
If you became aware of this event, via the mass media, friendly reader you were indeed a rare exception as the particulars of the forum had all of the earmarks of being a closely guarded secret by a media that totally eschews any moral obligation to apprise the public of other than sensationally motivated, politically correct, or politically actuated and patronage-directed substance.
Betty Freauf — Ron Paul Remains Consistent
While current front runners in the plethora of GOP debates continue to flip flop, I am amazed at how as a general rule Ron Paul remains consistent with his Libertarian message running only slightly behind depending on what poll we see. He’s consistent right down to introducing again a bill to legalize Hemp.
This disturbs conservative Christians but alcohol, cigarettes, pharmaceutical drugs and hospitals cause more medical problems and deaths than Hemp. The federal government sends regular shipments to an Oregon woman for her medical condition. And if the federal government didn’t step in with all its entitlements, e.g. rehab, people would still be held responsible for the costs of their own behavior.

NWV News — Oregon Sheriff Gil Gilbertson Continues Stand Against U.S. Forest Service
Josephine County, Ore. — Two months ago Gil Gilbertson, the sheriff of this rural county in southern Oregon, drafted a 10-page report exploring the origins and extent of federal power within a state and emailed his findings to various parties, asking for comment.
Since the report was in rough-draft form he was somewhat surprised that it went viral, but it shows there are a lot of people hungry for information about how much power (particularly law-enforcement power) the federal government actually wields within a state, where that power comes from, and the limits to that power.
Gilbertson continued his research and recently completed a 13-page revised and updated version, retitled: Unraveling Federal Jurisdiction within a State. It is highly footnoted with references to statutes and court decisions.
This a “must read” for anyone concerned about infringements against the 10th Amendment and federal encroachments in general – like road closures, Wild Lands and Monument designations, mining and other resource uses. In other words, this is for anyone and everybody with an interest – no matter how casual — in accessing the public lands, either as a “resource user” (a rancher or miner) or simply a casual vacationer who enjoys weekend camping.

Demotix has posted photos showing that the Department of Homeland Security now operates as a secret police force that arrests people at political events, the hallmark of all totalitarian governments.
The Federal Protective Service (FPS) arrested a photographer at Portland’s Terry Shrunk Plaza, which is adjacent to both City Hall and the Edith Green-Wendall Wyatt Federal Building.

The Department of Homeland Security describes the FDS as “a federal law enforcement agency that provides integrated security and law enforcement services to federally owned and leased buildings, facilities, properties and other assets.”
The location of Portland’s Terry Shrunk Plaza accounts for why FPS officers may have participated in the arrests, since the jurisdiction of the plaza is shared by both local and federal authorities, according to Rick Ellis, writing for the Examiner.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police believe that some protesters inside the Occupy Portland encampments are building shields and makeshift weapons — including nails hammered into wood — in preparation for when authorities attempt to clear the parks this weekend, police said Friday.
Occupy Portland organizers have repeatedly said the movement is nonviolent and have appealed to demonstrators to resist peacefully when the camps close at midnight on Saturday. They planned public marches and a potluck dinner before the deadline and hoped the public would take part.
Newspaper sues government to reveal ‘secret’ Patriot Act interpretation
The New York Times is suing the U.S. government for refusing to divulge how its law enforcement interprets the Patriot Act.
After a series of Freedom of Information requests were declined to reveal the classified interpretation of the Patriot Act — a description that Senators Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) and Mark Udall (D-Colorado) described as “deeply disturbing” — the newspaper sought to battle it out in the courts.
Some months ago, it was found that the Patriot Act was being interpreted by government departments in a way to aid their ongoing investigations, leading to calls that there was a “classified” element to the counter-terrorism law.
The two senators, members of the Senate intelligence committee, have access to the secret interpretation of the law, but are bound by secrecy laws and cannot disclose it publicly. They believe that how law enforcement interprets the Act greatly differs from how the general public believe the federal government interprets the law; leading to the vast majority of the public not knowing how the law is actually used.

A Marine Among Us
Friends:
Tom Moore and I held a bash recently to celebrate the event of former LCpl Mike Smith showering Jane Fonda with tobacco juice. At that event were former Marines from Texas, Oregon, and Washington State, Marines from Pfc to bird colonel. Lots of locals. Mike received these accolades with the humility which marks him as a sincere and devoted Marine, a Marine who spoke (spat) for us all as an expression of disdain for one who should have been tried for treason and imprisoned.
In April Jane Fonda had a book-signing session in a bookstore in Kansas City. In the line of worshipers waiting to get Fonda to sign her new book was one former CAP Marine who did not share the enthusiasm of the crowd. After about 90 minutes he got to the table where sat Jane Fonda, basking in the admiration of her misled left-wing following. Mike placed the book in front of her, gathered up the oral pressure needed, and blasted her with a mouthful of tobacco juice. Instantly gaining the respect of hundred of thousands of Vietnam vets who had been demeaned and abused by Fonda’s actions supporting the enemies of America, he quickly left the store, walked about fifteen feet beyond the door and waited for the inevitable arrest by the cops.
I have heard some criticism from others who didn’t like the idea that he “ran” from the store. My friends, he didn’t run. He is 60% disabled. But he knew every person in that store was a supporter of Hanoi Jane, so he quickly — as quickly as he could — left the store to avoid whatever might have been in store for him from a hostile crowd.
He was arrested by

Agents Question GM Free Car Insurance Deal With MetLife Auto
Independent insurance agents are raising concerns over a General Motors promotion that offers car buyers in the Pacific Northwest a year of free liability and damage insurance from MetLife Auto & Home.
Hoping to put more drivers in Oregon and Washington behind the wheels of its late model cars, General Motors last week announced that drivers in these states who take delivery of a new 2010, 2011 or 2012 GM car, truck or crossover before Sept. 6 will receive a year’s coverage from MetLife Auto & Home, a company which does business through independent agents.

In an interview with Wired, Sen. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat, adds yet more confirmation to what many of us have known for years – the government has built a secret surveillance structure far more portentous and dangerous than anything devised by the PATRIOT Act now up for renewal.

Fox News’ Andrew Napolitano wants to set free Oregon Christmas tree bomber
Fox News’ Andrew Napolitano wants to set free Oregon Christmas tree bomber. On last night’s O’Reilly Factor, prominent judge and libertarian thinker Andrew Napolitano was on as a guest to discuss his controversial, to say the least, opinion on what to do with the 19-year-old Christmas tree bomber in Oregon.
Somewhat surprisingly, the judge actually wants to set free the terrorist Mohamed Osman Mohamud because he argues that the US government coerced the lad into wanting to kill Americans at Oregon’s tree-lighting ceremony.
However, the judge may actually be on the wrong side of the law on this very shocking issue since the Supreme Court has ruled that coercion or entrapment is not a valid defense if the accused wanted to commit the crime.

Support Your Local Army of Occupation by William Norman Grigg
Support Your Local Army of Occupationby William Norman Griggby William Norman GriggRecently by William Norman Grigg:
Blowback, Provocation, and Perpetual War
“Wouldn’t it be great if it were like this all the time?” commented a pleasant middle-aged gentleman as the two of us contemplated the large gathering of armed men in camouflage who had materialized in Payette’s Centennial Park.
“I feel really secure with these guys around.”"Actually, I’d feel much more secure if the guns were in the hands of people who aren’t government employees,” I replied, prompting a puzzled look from my new acquaintance.Centennial Park is located just inside the Snake River boundary separating Idaho from Oregon. For reasons I’ve yet to learn, every time I visit the park to do calisthenics and sprints – regardless of the hour of day – I’ll receive a visit from at least one police officer, who will typically do a very slow pass by my little exercise area while I’m huffing and sweating.
On this particular afternoon, however, the park was literally swarming with camouflage-clad “police” from the Malheur County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team, in the company of at least one Payette County officer. They arrived in a caravan of more than a half-dozen vehicles, one of which was pulling a trailer carrying a large motorboat.”Are you guys doing a training exercise?” I inquired of one fellow as he unpacked what appeared to be an AR-15.”We’re just playin,’” he replied with a perfunctory smile.
That response was quite similar to the description offered by SWAT team member Michael Hale of a training exercise conducted just a few weeks earlier just outside of Vale, Oregon.

SATAN’S JURISDICTION
There is no neutral ground in the universe; every square inch, every split second, is claimed by God and counter-claimed by Satan. —C. S. Lewis
During our formative years in ministry, few people more profoundly influenced our theology and practical Christianity than pastor and theologian Dr. Robert Cornwall. Bob—or simply “Cornwall,” as his friends knew him—had a photographic memory, and in order to pay his way through Bible college as a young man, he had gotten a job proofreading books for a publisher of scholarly works. As a result of maintaining this job for years and having an uncanny propensity for recalling facts, Cornwall retained the majority of material he read and became one of the most well informed and brilliant thinkers we ever had the privilege of knowing or being mentored under. Cornwall was also a great storyteller and could thrill audiences at churches and in conferences by weaving details of true-life events with deep theological propositions.
A particular story that raised profound spiritual-warfare implications revolved around one of the first churches he pastored as a young minister in a sleepy little town near the Oregon coast. As described by Cornwall himself at Redwood Family Camp meeting in the 1970s, he had barely settled into leadership at the church when strange things began to happen for which he had no explanation. Objects in the building seemed to move around on their own, especially overnight when the building was supposed to be unoccupied. He would hear the piano playing and go into the sanctuary to find nobody there. Doors would slam, pews would be discovered positioned backward against the wall, and his notes would disappear—then reappear.
Members of the church reported similar phenomena, and Cornwall eventually learned that the activity had been going on for years. One night, hours after he had gone home to bed, Cornwall’s telephone rang and the police chief was on the other end of the line. He wanted to know what kind of party Cornwall was sponsoring at the church.“What do you mean, a party?” Cornwall asked.“Neighbors are calling. They say it’s so loud they can’t sleep. We thought maybe the youth group was having an overnight event that was getting out of hand.”
